This isn’t a fairy tale. Because some love stories don’t start with once upon a time. They start with a glance, a touch, a name never spoken. And some were never meant to have a happy ending.
Kira Tate was fifteen when she met him—Vincent Tazlyn, the boy with a voice like sin and a future too big for her world. He was a moment. A memory. A wound she learned to carry. He walked away without looking back. And she told herself it meant nothing. That forgetting would come with time. But fate isn’t kind. And time doesn’t heal what was never allowed to end. Now he’s here—no longer the boy she once loved, but a man shaped by fame, regret, and the silence between them. A man who got everything… except her. And this time, he’s the one who can’t look away. The one unraveling. The one who stayed too long in the dark to know what light feels like anymore. But Kira isn’t his to ruin again. She’s built her life on ashes. She knows better than to mistake longing for love. Because love isn’t always enough. Sometimes, it’s a war between what we feel and what we can have. And sometimes, no matter how much two people want each other, the ending still isn’t happy.
This is not a perfect love story. It’s heartbreak and longing, the ache of what could’ve been. And for anyone who has loved, lost, and wondered what if—this is for you.
I read this book crying, and I’m writing this review crying, so, here we go…😭
Never Ours isn’t a love story meant to comfort you, it’s one that quietly devastates you. This book aches in a way that feels personal, like reopening a wound you thought had scarred over. It’s about timing that’s unforgiving, love that never got the chance to finish, and the kind of longing that lingers no matter how much time passes.
T. Jannat captures the pain of loving someone you were never allowed to keep, of carrying memories that refuse to fade. Every page felt heavy with what was left unsaid, with all the moments that almost happened but didn’t. The story doesn’t rush to heal or offer easy answers, it sits with the heartbreak.
This book resonated with me in a way I wasn’t prepared for. It mirrored the feeling of loving someone I once had and somehow still love, even after everything. The ache of knowing that love alone isn’t always enough. That sometimes the ending is loss, not because the love wasn’t real, but because life simply didn’t allow it to be 💔
If you’re looking for a book…a story, to sit with you and burn within you for long after you read it, this is the one.
Thank you so much to author T. Jannat for allowing me to read your beautiful book. It was such an honor and please know this story will linger in my heart for a very long time 🖤
Never Ours by T. Jannat is an emotional contemporary romance that explores love that feels intense, consuming, and yet heartbreakingly temporary. The story centers on two people drawn together by a deep connection, but circumstances, timing, and personal struggles make it clear that love alone may not be enough to keep them together.
At its core, the novel is about longing — wanting something with your whole heart while knowing it may never truly be yours. The characters wrestle with attachment, vulnerability, and the painful realization that some relationships exist to shape us rather than stay with us forever. The title Never Ours perfectly captures this theme, reflecting a love that feels real and powerful, yet always just out of reach.
T. Jannat’s writing leans heavily into emotional depth, focusing on inner conflict and the quiet devastation of loving someone you can’t fully have. The story doesn’t rely on grand gestures alone; instead, it lingers in stolen moments, unspoken feelings, and the ache of what could have been.
Overall, Never Ours is a poignant, bittersweet read that will resonate with readers who enjoy emotionally driven romances — especially those that embrace the idea that not all love stories are meant to have a perfect ending.
I loved the slow burn and getting to watch Kira grow from a teen into an adult. The age gap between Vincent and Kira was done well and never felt sleazy or uncomfortable. Vincent did have some possessive tendencies, but it never felt off putting and actually fit his character.
I also really liked how the time hops were handled. They were spaced out well instead of jumping back and forth, which made the story easy to follow and emotionally satisfying. The ending was not what I was expecting, but it made sense for the story. I really enjoyed this book.
This is not your normal romance book, I had to put it down a couple of times because I was crying but then picked it right back up to find out what happened next.
Never Ours is a quiet, emotional heartbreak that lingers. It’s raw, honest, and full of longing—the kind of love that exists even when it can’t last. The connection feels real, the emotions hit deep, and the ache of what could’ve been stays with you long after the final page
This novel is a thoughtful meditation on self-respect, realistic love, and the dignity of walking away from something that no longer serves your emotional health. I appreciated how much of the book was career-focused and realistic. The chemistry was electric. The depiction of their connection and their moments together are so intense and beautiful that other thing faded into the background. The protagonist is wonderfully complex. Her dedication to her work and her quiet strength after the initial heartbreak are truly inspiring. Her journey is the emotional backbone of the story. The turning point was when ml's love becomes tainted with regret after the heart wrenching reveal. But the mutual understanding and their deep seated love even after separation was so satisfying. You'll love it. The book makes a powerful statement: Sometimes, love isn't enough to overcome the past.

So here I am telling about my experience with this book. Love stories are not my kind of genre, but this one hit different for me, as I can feel every second of this novel. Great work by the author. This one truly captured my heart and left a lasting impression..
Writing a review that is less than 4 stars is always extremely difficult to do. I so badly want to love every book I read but I will always be 100% honest with my reviews.
First of all, I really want to thank the author for reaching out to me to read their book. In the first part of the book I really enjoyed the writing style and was instantly captivated by the storyline. This is not your typical love story, it's a chance encounter that follows with over a decade long worth of longing and hope, mixed with absolute heartbreak.
About 40% of the way through, it started to fall flat for me. It turned into a huge miscommunication trope because they clearly want each other but both fail to allow it and don't seem to be able to have a single meaningful conversation with each other. While the characters start out young, by this point in the story they are 28 and 40 years old, and unfortunately their behavior did not always match how I feel that people of a mature age should act. Which left me feeling like this romance should have been set in high school instead of one that belongs to two successful adult-aged individuals.
I was also highly frustrated by the fact that there were so many missing details that should have been included as well for clarity, such as what emojis did Kira text back to him? There also appeared to be unfinished sentences here and there. I also really disliked that the MMC, Vincent, had a really great and enlightening conversation with the FMCs best friend Ella, but never was able to communicate that way with Kira.
Unfortunately, there were also a lot of writing errors in this story. For example certain words used in sentences should have been replaced with other words that made it make sense. It was also riddled with typos. Normally, I can overlook a few here and there, but the amount that were in this book severely impacted my reading experience. I normally love a tense, sad, and emotional read, but this one didn't quite click for me.
There were a few really strong moments, like the song he wrote, the business aspects, the soft quiet moments, and the characters personalities that I really enjoyed. But overall, this was book just wasn't for me in the end.
The novel was an emotional rollercoaster, masterfully weaving together a complex tapestry of emotions im real sense!!!!!🥹✨ I experienced a mixup of feelings, from joy and denial to smiles and tears- The writing was so so evocative that I found myself completely absorbed in the story, feeling as though I was living it alongside the characters, like the scene is going on in real life and am able to witness that!
The way author depicted each conversation and emotional moment was incredibly eye-capturing, making every scene feel like a movie playing out before my eyes honestly!!! Also the way she has described the café settings each time, that was particularly noteworthy, felt like i was able to smell that aroma. And that painting scene and string theory subplot were absolute highlights. Throughout the book, I didn't just read the story, I actually lived it!! The characters' experiences felt so sooo real, making it easy to become fully invested in this book!!!
Anddd finally the ending was particularly impactful, evoking strong emotions and leaving a lasting impression.
☆ABOUT THE ENDING: At some point,I wanted them both together in the end; But then,it's all about fate truly coz what's the point of loving someone with guilt or living with them just to pay that guilt? Basically that's not a true sort of love that anybody wants! And in case of the female lead,it never could be! So overall, ending was satisfying, yess it's quite sad enough to make ones heart heavier, but IT WAS GOOD!!! SATISFYING!!) And it's a pro point to her writing that a FICTIONAL STORY can evoke such POWERFUL AND REALISTIC EMOTIONS!!!
I'll suggest the readers TO GIVE THIS BOOK A TRY FOR SURE!!!

⭐ 4.75 / 5 I didn’t expect this book to hurt the way it did… in a quiet, personal kind of way. Okay, so first—this is not your typical romance. No cheesy lines, no perfect timing, no magical love fixes everything. This book felt like someone opening their heart and saying, “Here… this is what almost-love feels like.” And it wrecked me in the softest way 😭💔 Kira and Vincent’s story isn’t dramatic—it’s real. It’s messy, full of silence, stolen moments, and that awful ache of loving someone you were never really allowed to have. I swear some lines felt like they were written straight from a wound. Did it make me frustrated? Yes. Did it make me feel seen? Also yes. Some chapters felt slow but… that’s how heartbreak is, isn’t it? Slow. Lingering. If you’ve ever loved someone quietly… or wondered “what if”… this book will stay with you. Not a fairytale. Just painfully, beautifully realistic.
As a non reader, i'm really impressed by this book. The story is engaging and the writing is beautiful and well written. The characters feel real and not too dramatic It just feels so real, you can feel yourself in the story I am so overwhelmed by this amazing story i love every part of it i appreciate the hardwork of our talented author thank you for pouring your every emotion into this book I can feel that, your hardwork and dedication makes this story more beautiful. I'd recommend this book to people who like good stories and characters. It's really well done.
Thank you to the author for the free copy of this book. I really enjoyed it and loved Vincent and Kira's story, especially seeing their romantic journey unfold over the years. I also loved all of the side characters and appreciated the strong male and female friendships throughout. I loved how Kira had her own business, worked hard, and was passionate about her job. I also loved how obsessed Vincent was with Kira. If you want an intense, no-spice, emotional contemporary romance, this is the book for you.
