Ten-year-old Takuya has a new to look after his baby brother Minoru…looks like it's time to put on the kid gloves!

Young Takuya has it tough. Since his mother passed away, he's had to take care of his baby brother Minoru while their father works the long hours of a Japanese "salaryman."

When Takuya's friend Hitoshi finds a strange woman's photo in his father's cookbook, he panics. Could his ultra-feminine dad really be having an affair? But Hitoshi's problems are just beginning, as an innocently dropped handkerchief leads him to a gang of bank robbers, a secret code, and more. Before they know it, Takuya and his friends have been kidnapped, and it's up to Hitoshi's dad--with a little help from Minoru--to save the day!

Marimo Ragawa 羅川真里茂 was born on September 21 in Hachinohe, Aomori, but her age is not disclosed.
Marimo Ragawa first started submitting manga to comic magazines when she was only 12 years old, which is when she was in 6th grade of elementary school. She continued to send her manga to the same magazine for four years, but a positive critical reception was yet to come. Ragawa then decided to switch to a different magazine. Surprisingly, her first submission to this magazine, Hana to Yume, won a prize called the Top-prize. She succeeded in achieving her debut with her first manga, Time Limit.

Marimo Ragawa continues to draw other manga such as Aka-chan to Boku (Baby and Me), New York New York, and Itsudemo Otenki Kibun. She received the 1995 Shogakukan Manga Award for shōjo for Baby and Me. She continues to draw a tennis themed manga, Shanimuni-Go in Hana to Yume (Flowers and Dreams).

Marimo Ragawa's calm and cute design is one of the traits of her drawings. Her energetic drawing and characters are very attractive, even to non-manga readers. She is widely known for her great ability in describing complicated emotions, especially in New York New York and Baby and Me.
Her manga Mashiro no Oto has been nominated for the 4th Manga Taishō.

The bank robbery story is just silly and over-the-top. I much prefer the vignettes of life. The final story in this volume is the best, in my opinion. Ms. Anzai is correct when she says, "A really good child isn't one who gets good grades and never causes trouble. It's one who understands the pain of others." Perfect description of Takuya.

The bank robbery story was a big change of pace for the series. It was interesting to see how the characters would react in high-stakes situations. However, I still prefer the slice-of-life stories that are usually done. The last two chapters really got me teary eyed! Harumi’s character is so much more fleshed out now.

While I won’t deduct a star from my rating for this, I will give a warning that the trans representation in this book is a bit over-the-top and used mostly for comedic relief. I don’t approve of this, but I also recognize the time period (1994) in which this was published. The ideas and stereotypes back then don’t match ours now.

This truly continues to be one of my favorite series. It just shows so many layers of humanity and touches my heart with each chapter.

This was an awesome volume, lots of exciting stories and I'm depth storylines to learn more about our characters. Really fun, probably my favourite volume so far.

Still highly recommended for older child.
