Summer Burn is a delicious, slow burn, small town, cowboy romance following Olivia Harper and Colt Lawson. While travelling from England to Texas on a work trip, Olivia meets our cowboy cutie Colt and finds out that she will actually be staying at his families ranch for the two weeks she’s there. Tensions flare immediately and Colt and Olivia have to navigate their feelings, past traumas and prior commitments to work, friends and family. With fear, misunderstandings, mistakes and an ocean between them, Colt and Olivia need to decide if love is worth the risk. The characters all feel genuine and like you’ve known them forever. From Bea, to Maeve, Jarrod and even Daisy, they’re all as loveable as the next. The story gives the perfect ratio of spice to plot and Colt is as comforting and emotional in the bed as a warm hug while still giving us the rough and rugged parts we needed. I think fans of Lyla Sage and Paisley Hope would love these books. Overall, this was such an enjoyable read for me and I could not put it down. I’ll definitely be picking up more of Ursula’s books in the future.

Summer Burn was everything I love in a romance. It was sweet, steamy, emotional, and completely addictive. Olivia was such a relatable FMC. She’s insecure, selfless, and so used to putting her daughter first that she’s forgotten how to see herself as desirable. Watching Colt not only fall for her but truly worship her was beautiful. He made her feel wanted, cherished, and strong in ways she didn’t think were possible anymore.
The family aspect in this story really stood out to me. Colt’s family accepted and embraced Olivia with open arms. Olivia’s friends were such a fun, supportive group, the kind you wish you had in real life.
Colt himself was the perfect mix of rugged cowboy and sweet protector. The fact that he was willing to follow Olivia back to the UK to fight for her and her daughter...yeah, um, sign me up . It showed just how much he wasn’t going to let distance or fear get in the way of what they had.
If I had one tiny gripe, it was that Olivia ran before giving Colt a chance to explain himself, but honestly, even that added to the drama and tension. It made their reunion and his persistence even sweeter.
This book is a perfect blending heat, heart, and hope into one unforgettable story.

This was so emotional! This was a full story and an entertaining one. Grab those tissues! I literally had tears in my eyes as I was reading this and I just kept hoping for that HEA and happiness to finally arrive. I am impressed by the level of emotion that this story brought out of me and kept on sniffling. Such realism and just so much of everything!
She had her little girl to think about and he wasn't wanting forever. But they were supposed to be apart of him, they just didn't know it yet.
What a beautiful love story. It's not without it's hardships, but a emotional ride for sure. There are a few elements I wasn't a fan of. I don't do playboys, and when news broke of a job shake up, I felt that his best friend, a man he called brother, acted in a childish manner in his actions and words. Men don't act like that that I want to keep around. Regardless, I just kept my eyed glued to these pages. This was such a romantic tale and such a real and honest one. My heart broke several times over this story, this was so hauntingly beautiful. I appreciate the story and be prepared for a heartbreaking read! Through all it's ups and downs, it's realism does not wan and it has beauty in most things. There is a line I don't like crossed and unfortunately he very much tried when things got tough. I was so disappointed and disgusted. Most won't mind and make no mistake, this is a 5 star read then. The friendships, family and life, so real and lovely. The tears I had over this were so worth it, what a beautiful and emotional love story.

This is book three is Ursula’s “Year of Desire” series but can be read as a standalone. Olivia is far from home and her daughter Maeve, working as a temporary consultant to streamline a business in a Texan town in order to get ahead at work to make a better life for them. It’s been just the two of them for years after a heartbreaking betrayal and she’s running on empty and lacking confidence. When she meets Colt, whose family owns the ranch she’s staying at, she’s instantly attracted to him, but she’s shut herself off to that part of her life for so long, she dismisses the idea of anything happening. Colt has had his share of heartbreak and satisfies himself with flings with no strings but Olivia has him considering something deeper. Being on the ranch takes Olivia back to her childhood and her love of being on a farm and around horses. That, and being around Colt, has her giving herself permission to enjoy the short time of freedom she has. Their connection is fierce, passionate and emotional and they quickly find themselves falling deeper than they should for a relationship with an expiry date. This is a beautiful love story of a woman who has lost her sense of self and confidence and bravely sets about finding it again in the heat of Texas. It has sizzling chemistry and dialogue, vulnerability, compassion, emotion and satisfying steam, and it’s quite a tear-jerker too – a highly recommended read to warm your heart as Autumn approaches.

Oh my heart. Where do I begin with this book? I normally write reviews the next day, but this one could not wait.
From the beginning of Summer Burn, the chemistry was undeniable. While I am fully in my cowgirl era, this may be one of my most favorite cowboy romances (and am I biased that it's set in Texas as a native Texan?... Maybe). Without being overly formulaic but comfortably predictable, this book takes you on a journey of self love, self discovery, and the reawakening of romance.
The perfect balance of plot and spice, this book handles tropes I don't usually like to read with new approaches and builds the story with them into moments that will make you laugh, cry, and want more of. Colt and Liv may have had a whirlwind romance, but the story is paced perfectly and never leaves you feeling like you're missing out.
Definitely going in my comfort book rotation for when I need a strong in the feels read.

This is what I’m looking for in a romance. Not an easy one, but complicated and full of dilemmas. A messy relationship, with both characters carrying the weight of a traumatic past love.
It’s not the simple “fall in love and be together” story. It feels more real, with situations that are harder to work through. The emotions are layered, and the struggles make the relationship feel genuine.
As a mother, and yes, still married, I could relate to this story. We put our children first, and as long as they’re happy, we’re happy too. That’s exactly what Olivia does. She wants to feel fulfilled, but at the same time, she wants her daughter to have the world—without heartbreaks. That part touched me a lot.
The love-making scene? For me, it was definitely a spicy romance.
All in all, I’d like to read more books from the author.
Thanks to Ursula for the ARC! This review is voluntary and reflects my own thoughts.
Summer Burn is Book 3 in A Year of Desire. It's a steamy, slow-burn, opposites-attract, curvy single mom gets her cowboy romance. Olivia is a single mom from Great Britain trying to give her daughter a great life. She has experienced a lot of heartache and has not let herself want anything in a long time. Colt is a hunky Texas cowboy and rancher with a playboy reputation and no desire for a relationship. But Olivia changes that when she takes a job at his ranch. Colt makes her feel wanted and he finds himself wanting more than a fling. I won't lie, this one was an emotional roller-coaster. I laughed and cried. Olivia was so relatable and Colt was so sexy and sweet as he showed Olivia what it meant to be cherished again. There is some angst before the HEA, but I loved it. Their chemistry was pure fire. I love this entire series!
I absolutely DEVOURED this book. It was the first of Ursula’s books that I’d read, and I definitely will be back for more.
The characters were believable people and had great chemistry right from the start. The book had the right amount of spice without it overpowering the plot itself. The tension between Olivia and Colt was perfectly balanced with soft moments that made the story more than just a steamy summer fling.
I am very grateful to have received an ARC and definitely will be recommending this book to others. If you love your romances passionate, heartfelt and impossible to put down, Summer Burn is a must-read.
A wonderful page turner! I loved seeing Olivia's personality come out more and more, enticed by our male protagonist, Colt, who reminded me of a young juvenile jock (in a weird roundabout way), just older, more experienced and jaded by his experiences with love and relationships. I wish I knew what happened to them afterwards!!
I hope you all enjoy reading this book!.

The book is about a single mom from the UK travelling to Texas for work. Small-town country cowboy romance.
The first half was a little slow but the second half, the love, emotions and the pain happens. You truly get to feel for both characters in this dual POV. It isn’t pure spice and would be a great option for someone looking for mild spice and a storyline.

*small town romance * forced proximity * single mum * grumpy FMC
This is the first book of Ursula’s that I have read and it definitely won’t be the last I thoroughly enjoyed this book from start to finish it was packed full of a great plot, relatable main characters, banter, spice and everything you could want in a small town romance if your after a slow burn small town romance this one needs to be on your TBR list.
I was hooked from the moment Olivia and Colt met—the chemistry between them was undeniable! What started as a fling quickly grew into something deeper, and I loved watching their relationship develop despite the challenges and miscommunication they faced along the way. Olivia’s strength as a single mom, paired with Colt proving again and again that she was worth it, made this such a heartfelt and emotional read. A story full of chemistry, growth, and love—it’s definitely one to add to your TBR!
Englishwoman Olivia ventures to Texas for work and finds herself enamoured by a real Texan cowboy, Colt. Both in their mid 30s, she's a single mum away from her daughter for the first time and trying to adjust to the stifling heat, while he's used to flings and easy exits. These opposites somehow strike a match in this great steamy summertime read.

This story charts the emotional journey of Olivia, a Brit in Texas who has been charged with a HR job a long way from home. At home her daughter is staying with friends. The story narrates the conflicts between her journey of single motherhood and relationship discovery. Recommended.

I loved this book, it’s funny, sweet and a little spice. The characters feels real in a relatable way. This is technically book nr 3 in a series, but I feel that it’s not necessarily to read the first two books to understand and enjoy this one. So if you are looking for a cowboy romance look no further!
I absolutely adored this book! I haven't read the other two that preceded this one but will be downloading them immediately. The characters were so relatable and the banter was so much fun to read. It felt like these were people you wanted to know in real life and would be friends with!.

This book is so incredible I couldn’t put it down, reading about a single mum can sometimes be very hard, as they are stereotypically written as weak. Liv however is a very well written strong woman who knows her mind. Colt is a great counterpart to her and there relationship is so much fun. Thank you Ursula for such a great story.
I really loved this book. Read it as a stand alone just fine. I loved Colt and Liv’s story. The love and the heart break. Some spice but not too much. Great depth and sacrifice.
I really enjoyed this book! Summer Burn is such a cute and heartwarming story about two people from completely different worlds finding each other. Olivia, the FMC, is so relatable—she’s a hardworking single mom doing everything she can to give her daughter the best life. Colt, the rugged cowboy MMC, is protective, sweet, and just the right amount of swoony.
The pacing was great, the banter kept things fun, and the problems they faced felt real and relatable, which made me root for them even more. I loved watching their connection bloom on the page. It had the perfect balance of spice and sweetness, keeping me hooked from start to finish.
If you enjoy tropes like single mom, city girl meets cowboy, small town charm, opposites attract, forced proximity, found family, and good banter, this one’s for you!
This was my first Ursula Chang book, but it definitely won’t be my last.
Summer Burn A romantic book about 2 very different people who live in different countries and have different lifestyles. Olivia is a single mum from the UK, while Colt is a cowboy from Texas. The book is about how 2 very different people can end up in a relationship. Moreover, when I read the book, I found myself identifying with Olivia so many times. The book is so easy to read, and although it is a cowboy, spicy romance one, there is commitment, sacrifice, love, family unity, work, and corrupt managers. If you enjoy romance, a bit of spice, opposites attracts, jokes, and family bonds, this book is for you. Thank you, Ursula. I am looking forward to reading the other 2 books in the series.
