Having a baby wasn’t in my five-year plan. Then again, neither was sleeping with a hockey player who hates my guts. Star forward for the Grizzlies, Leo Richardson is my least favorite person on the planet. Unfortunately, after a night of drinking and debauchery—on both our sides—we end up in bed together. It was supposed to be one time— Not a night punctuated by a lifetime of parental responsibility…and the slowly sinking feeling that I may have misjudged Leo. That there may be more to him than the playboy persona. That he may be everything I’ve ever dreamed of. And that…I don’t think I can let him go.
USA Today bestselling author, Elise Faber, loves chocolate, Star Wars, and hockey (the order depending on the day and how well her team—the Sharks!—are playing). She and her husband also play as much hockey as they can squeeze into their schedules, so much so that their typical date night is spent on the ice. I will never understand why writers continue to do this trope. A trope that has been done to death and I, for one, am sick of it.
I'm talking about the trope where MMC doesn't do love & commitment, is scared of his feelings and doesn't want anything long lasting, blah, blah, blah. Yet after he meets FMC and has sex with her, he leaves her in the dust with this slimy excuse and goes immediately and finds some OW where he is now in a relationship with.
How many 2nd chance tropes have we read where the MMC leaves the supposedly love of his life because he is "scared" of his feelings and he's not good for her & so on? But then after he had his fun and got all his rocks taken care of and maybe tried the marriage thing and had a couple kiddies with the OW and suddenly he is no longer afraid to be with FMC. Sounds familiar? He is too "afraid" and all the other BS to be with FMC but not so much to give an OW everything.
Well, here we have an MMC who only has ONS's and when he meets FMC and they have sex, he of course gets "scared" of his feelings for her so even though he leads her to believe that this was not a one & done the next day, that is exactly what he tells her when he goes to see her but shortly thereafter, he goes to a bar and hooks up with some OW and even though what they have is "casual", she is his GF and he's planning a party or something for her - one in which he was FMC to cater. LOL.
And of course by this time FMC is pregnant with his kid and eventually she takes him back because he is only in it for the kid IMO. Of course, had she kicked him in the balls and told him to go suck on them, maybe I would have finished it. DNF for me. LOL.
Harper thought she and Leo connected during their memorable night, but when he shuts her out the next morning, she knows he's no different than any other douche who's a player on and off the ice. That's why when she ends up pregnant, she knows she's going to do it alone. Well, maybe not alone, she has a found family in Leo's hockey team and the women who love them, but Leo definitely won't be involved. Or will he? Has she misjudged him?
Leo's childhood raised by awful parents has kept him from forming real emotional connections with women. It's why when he starts feeling something during and after nis night with Harper, he reverts to his usual cold hearted ways. Now Harper's avoiding him and determined to do everything alone, pregnancy, birth, and raising their child. Will Leo step up, or abandon her like every other man has?
Oh Leo...so emotionally immature! But Harper, this woman is amazing, has her own emotional issues, too, but also is so strong. But, those issues when paired Leo's? Total cluster. Thank God for their found hockey family, thank God Harper and Leo worked through their individual baggage, and their shared baggage. I love the way Leo really did show up for Harper and their soon to come baby. He did the little things and the big things. He was her rock, and I honestly never saw that happening in the beginning, considering what a jerk he was at first. And I loved even more the way Harper learned to rely on not just Leo, but her found family, too. I adore the Grizzly hockey family, each couple and the way they fall, hard. Harper and Leo are such a beautiful couple, who work hard for their happiness, they had me falling in love even more with the Grizzly hockey world, and now I'm very impatient for Lainey and Sawyer's love story, One Night with Number Nineteen.

Knocked Up by Number Ninety de Elise Faber serie Grizzlies libro 3
Argumento:
Knocked Up by Number 90 is book 3 in the Grizzlies Hockey series and follows caterer Harper and hockey player Leo as they navigate all of the ups and downs that come with the repercussions of their need for each other.
Leo grew up in a family that never should have had children. His parents only think about themselves and constantly bicker at each other. Each of them are constantly telling him either not to get married or not to have children. Spending his childhood growing up in this environment has left him with no desire to get married or have children. He tends to have one night stands that have no substance.
Harper grew up knowing her father never wanted her. He left her mom to create a new family, leaving her and her mom to fend for themselves. No support of any kind to help out. Her mom worked all of the time in order to pay the bills and give Harper as much as she could. Harper found a love of cooking and went to culinary school. She had to take out loans in order to go, but it was something she loved to do. When her mother passed away, she took on the medical and burial expenses for her mom. She has spent the last ten years paying off all of this debt and she is so close. She just needs to keep booking jobs to free herself of this burden.
Leo has been ogling Harper for awhile now, but has never acted on it. No one in his group of friends understands why he has not asked her out, but they do not say too much to him about it.
But one night Leo decides to talk to Harper. He spends the evening helping her clean up after an event she catered and attended and he attended. They got to talking and enjoying each other's company. Next thing we know, they are moving faster than they should. He makes a comment that gives her hope, but the next day, it turns out he is just like all of the others before him.
This relationship does not start out on the best foot. From the time Harper and Leo reunite until the very end, they face one challenge after another. Interfering friends, surprise visits from unwanted guests, secrets, more secrets, and feelings of being unworthy. These two have a lot of baggage they need to work through.
Will Harper and Leo find their happily ever after? Will their "family" play matchmakers to get these two together? Will their history be too much for them to overcome?
This book brought out a lot of feelings for me. Growing up in a single mom home, I know what Harper feels like. I know the abandonment she feels. Losing her mom had to be the worst thing she had to live through. When it is just the two of you, that relationship is unlike any other. She must feel so alone. She is the only person she can trust and the only person she can rely on.
Leo grew up in chaos and I just cannot imagine living that kind of childhood. He was left to fend for himself. It is amazing that he turned out as good as he did. He is lucky that families are not just biological. They are who you choose to be family. He got a good family in his hockey bros and their spouses, children and families. It is how he is able to not repeat history.
These two will make mistakes. They happen. It is how they react to them that will determine where they go in the future. They are lucky to have good role models in Smitty and Kailey, Aiden and Luna, and Gray and Faye. It is so much fun to watch these big, burly guys fall for their women. It is the kind of love you always dream about as a little girl.
You don't realize just how much your past controls you until you are trying to escape it. Both Leo and Harper have parental trauma that made them less than trusting of relationships. Leo is terrified of becoming his parents. Harper has trust issues with men and is determined to be self sufficient because she does not want to rely or someone who may leave.
Leo is the sweetest man who would drop everything to help his teammates and those he considers family. He was introduced to Harper through his friends group. After just one night he could picture a future with her. He wanted more for the first time. Then he started to spiral and let his fears destroy that chance. He regretted hurting Harper but chose to find someone new who he knew that wasn't the one.
Harper is a hard-working caterer who has selfishly paying off her mother's debts even after her death. With an absentee father, Harper had to learn to rely on herself early. Her mother waz amazing but worked too much to provide for them. Harper didn't trust easily and was fiercely independent. She never wanted to be in a situation where she couldn't look after or provide for herself. She felt connected to Leo after one night and that scared her because she was willing to take a chance.
Neither of them seemed to be able to get that night out of their minds but memories wasn't the only reminder of that night. Soon Harper discovered that she was pregnant. She knew that a baby wasn't in her immediate plans and that she would need to work even harder. She needed to be financially stable for her child. Leo promised to be their for the baby but she had too many men break promises so she had to prepare for what she thought was inevitable. He wanted to prove her wrong but with parents like his his first instinct when things got hard was to run. He needed to learn how not to run.
With so much trauma in their pasts, could Leo and Harper make things work between them? One thing that proved to me that Leo wasn't like his parents is that he actively tried not to be and he cared about Harper and their child more than himself. They were his priority, whether it was financially or emotionally, he put them first. Harper had to learn to trust Leo's words and his actions because he needed her to believe that he wasn't going to bail. He was going to be there for as long as she would let him and even after he would be there in the background. He wanted them to be a family forever but they both had scars that needed healing first.
I loved Leo and Harper. I really enjoyed seeing two flawed people healing from the other's love. Their friends and teammates were their family and that support made tge healing easier. Sure, there will always be challenges but no life worth living is easy, but as long as they keep putting each other first they can overcome anything. I can imagine these two together until they are old and grey.
Thank you Elise Faber and Wildfire Marketing Solutions for the ARC and the opportunity to review this amazing book!
Knocked Up By Number Ninety is a fun story and flighty .Well she’d have to be haha but there we are. Elise Faber at her finest and it’s Hockey ,what’s not to love right . But I do love every word that Elise does write . It’s a delight!
A one night stand with her least favourite anything never mind a hockey player for the Grizzlies Leo Richardson to boot but when they’d had a few drinks he /she because it takes two to tango weren’t quite astute and besides he’s a hottie she thinks he’s cute. He helps her clean up after the guests are gone . He’s been a right gentleman a hon. It’s not quite amour now is it? But when they’re getting it on at least they’re …well getting on. And it’s exquisite. “Pay attention,” he orders her roughly “Kind of hard to do when you’re blowing my mind, handsome,” Yep I think they were truly in the same end zone …That’s until he leaves her high and dry. Huh ,hold the phone, didn’t see that coming from all the humming . Plus he stayed after she got layed, yeah what a catch this hockey player. She just got played. Quite the fair maiden slayer. And now though they don’t know it yet she’s gonna hatch his kid. Now look where he went and hid.
“Last night was great, but it was just that.Just a night.” Well she’s not going to take it lying down is Harper Evans because Leo did scarper and now this. Because as it happens ,she got guts. She’s independent and though his wounds cut deep she refuses to lose sleep over him. Let him go ,forget this ever occurred . He’s gone never cared.
But was he really just running scared? You see there’s more to this guy than meets the eye. A sensitive soul underneath who has been through some beef. Under those layers lies a vulnerable man who doesn’t know how to be happy. How to give of himself unconditionally. Traditionally it’s the male who is the stronger sex but he does pale not knowing what to do next. How to be and now this ,a baby and it’s his . It’s time to face up to responsibilities.
Is there more to this play boy persona she does garner. Find out she is gonna. No doubt about it ,she’s a strong female and he’s looking like an epic fail . Until she sees what he’s hiding deep. Then they both don’t get no sleep. Baby makes three and does this make them happy in the end ? Changing of a nappy . Being more than friendly from being like the enemy do they now share Bon ami as well as parenting rights over a baby?
Read this book and you will find out the answers to these questions and more . I can tell you this . It’s bliss and you should pick it up and devour as I did ,that’s its power or should I say the author Elise Faber ,gotta love her style . Her enticing writing makes you smile .
KNOCKED UP BY NUMBER 90 is the third instalment in Elise Faber’s contemporary adult GRIZZLIES HOCKEY erotic, hockey romance series, a spin off from the author’s EAGLES HOCKEY/ OAKRDIGE VINEYARDS series. This is Grizzlies’ hockey player Leo Richardson, and caterer/ chef Harper’s story line. KNOCKED UP BY NUMBER 90 can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story line is revealed where necessary.
Told from dual first person perspectives (Harper and Leo) KNOCKED UP BY NUMBER 90 follows in the wake of a one-night stand in which Leo ghosted our story line heroine. Fast forward several weeks, caterer and friends with many of the Grizzlies’ WAGS, Harper discovers she’s pregnant, and Leo has apparently moved on with someone else. Struggling yet accepting she will be a single parent, Harper comes face to face with the man with whom she will fall in love. Leo Richardson doesn’t do relationships having witnessed the implosion of his parents’ numerous affairs but finding out Harper was carrying his child, Leo struggles with the new direction in life, and can’t quite move on from his current FIB.
The world building follows Harper, a doggedly independent young woman determined to make it on her own. With no promises for the future, Harper begins to accept her new future but Leo claims he wants to do what’s right. Neither grew up with loving fathers, and Leo worries about passing it on.
The relationship between Leo and Harper begins as a one-night stand but a surprise pregnancy throws both of their worlds into a spiral. Harper wants to prove she can raise the baby on her own but the Grizzlies wives and girlfriends pull our heroine into their tight-knit family. Leo soon realizes he has fallen in love with our story line heroine but misunderstanding and miscommunication quickly pull our couple apart. The $ex scenes are provocative and seductive without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.
Once again, there is a large ensemble cast of familiar and dynamic secondary and supporting characters including several members of the San Jose Grizzlies hockey team and their spouses. We are introduced to Sawyer Hill, Faye’s (Divorced from number 38) friend Lainey, and Leo’s obnoxious parents Bill and Jennifer Richardson.
KNOCKED UP BY NUMBER 90 is a story of secrets and heart break, family and relationships, acceptance and love. The character driven premise is emotional and captivating; the romance is fated and seductive; the characters are determined and charismatic.
Knocked Up by Number Ninety is book three is Elise Faber's Grizzlies Hockey series and can be read as a standalone. Leo Richardson doesn't do love and feelings. He does one night stands. Growing up with parents who were always at each other's throats and telling him love wasn't worth it and never have kids, it's no wonder. But then he meets Harper, caterer extraordinaire and friends with his teammates wives. The one night they spend together has him feeling all the things and it scares the bejeezus out of him lol. Even though he leaves her with "he can't wait to see her again", the need to run wins out.
Harper grew up with a single mother that worked herself to the bone to provide for her daughter. Her father deciding to leave and never look back. When she loses her mom, her world felt shattered. Now with a successful catering business, she has made some great friends with the players and their wives from the Grizzlies hockey team. Hooking up one night with Leo Richardson is something she doesn't normally do, but when he tells her he can't wait to see her again, she thinks maybe he's feeling some of the things she is. But then he proves to her again that men don't stay. They always leave and abandon. Then, a couple months later, everything changes with those two pink lines.
Ms. Faber made me work for this story and to really like Leo. He starts off great, then he gets scared and runs because he doesn't do relationships, but then he's got a girlfriend so to speak and he wants Harper to cater the party he's throwing for her. I have never wanted to throat punch someone more in my life lol. Then he discovers he's going to be a dad. He never in his wildest dreams thought he'd ever be a dad, or even want children. It's amazing how much your feelings can change when you're faced with that decision.
This is where my feelings toward Leo start changing. It's the little things he does for Harper that show the true man he really is and in the end, I admit, he made me swoon. Harper is smart, beautiful, and so strong. She's worked her way out of debt and is determined to make a great life for her and her baby, with or without Leo's help. This one is full of ups and downs, and so many feelings I felt as if I couldn't breathe through some parts. I love this family made up of the Grizzlie players and their wives. Overall, I really enjoyed this one once Leo got his head out of a certain place LOL.
This is the third book in the Grizzlies Hockey series.
When the book starts, Harper, the MFC, is catering a baby shower for her group of friends. Leo Richardson, the MMC, a forward for the San Jose Grizzlies is one of the guests. He flirts with her there, offers to help her clean up after the shower, and ultimately takes her to dinner. They end up having a one-night stand.
“I can’t wait to see you again.”
But the next day he stops by her catering business to tell her it was just a one time thing. “Last night was great, but it was just that. Just a night.” She’s very hurt.
When Leo was young, his mother and father didn’t have a happy marriage, fighting constantly, both telling him to never fall in love, that it would ruin his life. He thought that’s how love was. That belief has formed him as an adult, and is the reason he thinks he can’t be with Harper, even though he can’t stop thinking about her. He doesn’t want to fall in love and hurt Harper the way his parents were always hurting.
“I was worried I was broken, that I didn’t have the capacity for a good relationship, that I would eventually poison everything good in it until it withered and died.”
By the time she figures out she’s pregnant, Leo is hooking up with someone else he picked up at a bar. He is having a very casual relationship with the witchy Shannon, but truly wants to be with Harper. He finds out Harper is pregnant, and wants to support her in whatever way she needs, but …
“I can give her friendship, can give her loyalty, can give her everything except my heart.”
I didn’t really care for Leo in the first half of the book. He was insensitive to women’s feelings, particularly Harper’s, until he decides to stop fighting his feelings for her and give them a real chance. Then he turned into the cinnamon roll hero we all love.
I do recommend this book, which is told in dual POVs, allowing the reader to understand the emotions both are feeling. And it was great seeing favorite characters from other Faber books.
I am voluntarily leaving a review for an Advanced Reader Copy of this book, and was not paid for my review.
Knocked Up by Number Ninety is book three in the Grizzlies Hockey series, and this time we get an up-close look at Leo and Harper, two adults carrying a lot of emotional baggage from their childhoods.
Leo isn’t looking for love, relationships, or feelings. No attachments works just fine for him. Growing up with toxic parents who constantly fought and dragged him into the middle of their drama convinced him that marriage and kids only lead to misery. But after one night with Harper, a caterer who is also friends with the team’s wives and girlfriends, he starts catching feelings almost immediately. Of course, instead of dealing with those emotions like an adult, he panics and ends up being a complete jerk to her.
Harper has her own issues, mainly abandonment. Her father walked out early, leaving her mom to work herself to the bone to provide for them. Because of that, Harper grew up believing that men never stay, so she learned to depend only on herself. Honestly, I admired that about her. There’s absolutely nothing wrong with being self-sufficient, especially considering everything she’s been through.
While I liked both Leo and Harper — flaws and all — their relationship sometimes felt like a tennis match. Back and forth, back and forth. At times, it became a little repetitive. Yes, they both needed to work through their personal issues, but some of the constant internal battles dragged on longer than necessary for me.
The real saving grace was the Grizzlies team and all of the wives and girlfriends. Their constant banter, meddling, and support added the perfect dose of humor and warmth throughout the story. I also really enjoy seeing characters from previous books continue to pop up and play important roles in the newer stories.
Overall, this book was well written and hit a lot of the things I enjoy in a sports romance series: emotional moments, found family, humor, and plenty of chemistry. It can definitely be read as a standalone, but I think it’s even more enjoyable when the series is read in order.
Knocked Up By Number 90by new to me author Elise Faber is an interconnected Standalone fromGrizzlies Hockeyseries. Book 3 has us following the story of Catering ChefHarper and San Jose Grizzlies Hockey PlayerLeo Richardson through their dual POV, in this Surprise Pregnancy, Found Family, Hockey Romance.
The story had its moment of being a cute and sweet read, when it came to following the slowly budding relationship between Harper and Leo considering the journey they found themselves trekking upon together due to the aftermath of their ONS. Including the changes they went through and endured in order to grow and learn from their mistakes. Particularly in Leo’s case.
Despite being opposites in the lives they led, they did share some similarities of loving hard when it came to friends, given the found family relationship they both had formed amongst the group. Due to both having parental trauma.
It definitely wasn’t an easy journey, considering on one hand you had Leo who was allowing his sense of relationships from his family to determine his way of living in regards to having his own relationships. And on the other you had Harper, who was so use to being independent, doing everything on her own mostly. As well as not being the biggest fan of men having been let down within past relationships. Yet their ONS didn’t stop them from still wanting one another, even after all was said and done.
Ultimately it led to a path full of pushing and pulling, going back and forth through their ups and downs. Until they finally laid it all out on the line allowing one another to see and get to know each other with their walks down and insecurities out in the open.
With that said, the story was a little harder to follow in terms of not being able to connect, seeing as it took me awhile to get into it. This may have been just me, but my biggest critique was the choppiness at times. There were scenes that felt choppy in terms of dialogue cutting off or ending abruptly and then doing a 180, especially in group conversations, they had me feeling lost at times, which didn’t help at all. This ultimately led me to having to go back and re-read since it made me feel like something was amiss and that maybe I had missed something.
Although it is considered a Standalone, it didn’t always feel that way due to feeling like I was missing something from certain conversations presented amongst the friendship groups. Something that was definitely a first for me.
All in all, new to me author Elise Faber did a good overall with the story that wasKnocked Up By Number 90,having still found it a pleasant read overall despite my issues.
*I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
A crush, a drink or two, a touch, a kiss can lead to an amazing night, the problem is can it lead to something more? Or will their past problems with parents and relationships cause so many issues that neither party will take a chance. Even when a month or two later, 2 pink lines show up on a pregnancy test.
Both Leo and Harper have had a huge amount of hurt in their lives that they allow to rule not just their hearts but their minds as well. Leo doesn’t want to take a chance at anything, even though Harper is and always will be on his head. He wants to keep this standard hockey player playboy image even though that isn’t who he truly is. The night they had together was magical but when Leo walked away from Harper in the morning, it was like her experiencing her father leaving all over again. No matter how hard they try, they cannot stay away from each other. Not because of the attraction but because they have mutual friends/teammates. When Leo finds out though that Harper is pregnant because of that one night stand, he wants to be involved more, a lot more. Together again there is no denying they need each other, but to truly be together they need to figure everything out.
This is the third book in the Grizzlies Hockey Series by Elise Faber and it is a don’t stop until you finish book. Elise has this amazing ability to put words together in such a way that not only does it captures your attention from the start, it also touches your heart, maybe a few sniffles and some choice words when you want these characters to just figure it out and stay together for crying out loud. Her characters come from all walks of life, some with hurt, some with anger, some with sorrow, and some normal. Her books show that while their lives might look perfect, you never know what is happening behind that door.
Thanks to Wildfire Marketing and the author for an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest opinion.
Elise Faber's KNOCKED UP BY NUMBER NINETY was another entertaining story n the Grizzlies Hockey series. A heartfelt story about two characters whose thoughts on love and commtment had been formed from childhood.
After a day of catering her friend's baby shower and flirting with the Grizzlies forward, Harper Evans spends a steamy night with Leo Richardson. She's not a casual girl, he's not into commitment. Words uttered by Leo give Harper hope for more, until he crushes her just as quickly. Determined to be strong, she refuses to allow Leo's crushing word and subsequent actions affect her ... until she discovers she's pregnant.
Leo was not my favourite person during the first part of this book. Even though he felt drawn to Harper the baggage he carried weighed heavily on his mind which led him to come across as being selfish, thinking only of himself. Finding out about his impending fatherhood made him think twice about everything, he became the caring man he truly was. As he and Harper drew closer his multiple layers were peeled back and his vulnerabilities came to light, and he realised he wanted Harper in his life.
I adored Harper and Leo, their chemistry was undeniable even though they refused to see it. I loved their banter, but it was their genuine care for each other which had me melting. While Harper is wary of Leo's sudden change, he is an absolute golden retriever, no one comes near "his woman", talk about making me swoon. Would Leo be able to in Harper's heart?
Elise Faber captured my heart with this story. I loved the emotion, the healing, being able to accept that the past does not need to determine the future. Sawyer's story is up next and I'm looking forward to that one.
Harper went from “I can’t stand this man” to “this man might actually ruin every emotional defense I’ve ever built,” and honestly? I was seated for every second of it. 🏒🩵
This book served peak hockey romance chaos in the best way possible: enemies-to-lovers tension, one reckless night, surprise pregnancy, and a cocky hockey star who slowly turns into the most unexpectedly devoted man alive. Leo Richardson starts off as Harper’s personal nightmare, but watching their relationship evolve from irritation and sharp banter into genuine love was ridiculously satisfying.
Harper was such a strong FMC. She felt real, independent, and emotionally grounded even while her entire future was flipping upside down. I loved that she didn’t instantly fold for Leo’s charm. She challenged him constantly, which made his growth feel earned instead of rushed. Their chemistry had this hot-and-cold electricity that kept the story moving fast, like emotional whiplash on ice skates. ❄️
And Leo? Certified “looks like trouble, secretly soft” book boyfriend material. Beneath the player reputation and ego was someone who genuinely wanted to step up for Harper and their baby, and those quieter moments made the romance hit harder.
The reason it’s a 4-star instead of a full 5 for me is because some plot beats were a little predictable, and I wanted a bit more emotional depth during the conflict scenes. But overall, this was still such a fun, bingeable sports romance with heart, heat, and plenty of swoony moments.
This series just keeps getting better. Leo and Harper are such an emotional ride. Unfortunately Leo is so Aggravating at the start of this book, and I wondered to myself if I was ever going like him. Elise Faber never let me down and soon enough I found myself swooning over him. Both Leo and Harper both have pasts that have shaped the way they think and behave today involving relationships. That is why when Leo and Harper have a passionate night together,Leo makes it clear to Harper that it was just a one night stand and nothing else will happen between them. Harper is left feeling abandoned she is used to people leaving. Harper is a caterer and while catering for a baby shower she meets Leo an NHL Player and playboy. Then 2 Pink lines changes EVERYTHING for both of them. Harper is strong and resigns herself to being a single parent. When Leo finds out he will be a Dad he panics that he will be a bad father just like his father. They both have to face their pasts in order to be able to create a future for themselves and their child. They have so much chemistry between them. I love the friendships in this story the group of men and the ladies in their lives are all so supportive, and I love the way they take Harper in to be a part of their group. I really enjoyed reading this bookit is both emotional and spicy and the complicated journey Leo and Harper have to endure to get a possible HEA. I like Elise Faber's writing style and I can't wait for the next book. Fabulous 5 Stars.- Cat W.
This book was amazing!!! I enjoyed both main characters from the first chapter. I enjoyed the back and forth banter, drama, angst and spice. This book is a contemporary sports romance with a surprise baby, two reluctant main characters and all the angst and spice Elise Faber puts in her books. I could not put this book down with all the anticipation of what would happen next. My heart did break for both characters and what they experienced in their lives. I enjoyed the storyline it was original and page-turning. The characters were complex and had an intense and undeniable chemistry with a feisty FMC and a broody hockey player. I can’t wait for what comes next, but in the meantime I’m going back to read the previous books in this series!!!-by Brooke

I did receive a free ARC Book Copy from Wildfire Marketing, and the Author Elise Faber. I am freely leaving a honest book review.
There is something undeniably addictive about slipping into an Elise Faber hockey romance, and Knocked Up By Number Ninety, the third instalment in the Grizzlies Hockey series, pulled me in from the very first page. The premise alone had my romantic senses sparking, promising heat, heart, and that signature blend of swoon and tension. But this time, Ms Faber did something unexpected… she made me work for it.
Leo, our leading man, did not arrive wrapped in charm and easy adoration. In fact, for the first time ever, I found myself wanting to shout at my Kindle. Where was the swoon? Where was the man I could fall for without hesitation? And yet, that initial frustration is exactly what makes this story so compelling. Ms Faber takes a risk with Leo, and it pays off beautifully. Because once you begin to peel back his layers, everything shifts.
Leo is a man shaped by a past that taught him all the wrong things about love. Even after a single night with Harper, when he feels something deeper than he ever expected or wanted, his instinct is not to hold on but to run. To shut it down before it has the chance to mean anything. And in doing so, he breaks Harper’s heart in a way that feels painfully real.
Then life intervenes.
A couple of months later, two pink lines change everything, forcing Leo to confront the very fears he has spent his life avoiding. What follows is not a simple redemption arc, but a deeply emotional journey as he begins to understand that love does not have to mirror the broken version he grew up with. Watching him face those demons, slowly and imperfectly, is where the true heart of this story lies.
Harper… she is quietly remarkable. Strong, independent, and used to standing on her own, she has built a life surrounded by the Grizzlies family, yet still struggles to fully rely on anyone. Opening her heart to Leo was already a risk, and when he confirms her deepest fear, that people don’t stay, it leaves a mark. Her hesitation, her guarded hope, and her strength in the face of it all make her incredibly easy to root for.
What makes this romance resonate is not just the chemistry, though when it comes, it absolutely delivers, but the emotional honesty woven through every page. This is a story about unlearning, about vulnerability, and about the terrifying, beautiful act of choosing love even when the past tells you not to.
By the end, Elise Faber doesn’t just restore the swoon, she earns it. A heartfelt, emotionally rich romance that reminds you that sometimes the most powerful love stories are the ones that begin a little broken before they find their way whole again.

🏒 Hockey Romance 🏒 Surprise Pregnancy 🏒 Sports Romance
⭐ 4/5
Harper and Leo
This story follows Leo and Harper. Hockey player Leo didn’t have the best role models growing up. The way his parents were and the advice they gave him, made him the way he is today. Someone who doesn't have any desire to settle down and only does have meaningless hook ups. Harper’s life was only slightly better. She had a mom that gave her everything she could. But to do that she worked a lot. But Harper had a lot to take care of, especially after her mom passed away. After they became closer, since they knew each other due to shared friends, for the first time Leo could see a new future for him. But his fears are getting to him and so he drives her away. Seeing Leo as all the others, Harper doesn’t look back and tries to move on, much to Leo’s regret. Only getting their shared time out of their minds was nearly impossible. The surprise pregnancy was not at all in Harper’s plan so far. And Leo promised to be there, but Harper is hesitant and full of doubt. Can they let go of their fears to embrace the future that could lay ahead of them or will they fail? A beautiful story about two characters that together had to overcome their pasts and fears. And finally were able to heal with the love they had for each other.
A great story about two people who have pasts that make them afraid of commitment and to trust others but find themselves having a baby as a result if a one-night stand. Harper thinks it will turn it into more, but Leo doses that flame of hope when he leaves in the middle of the night, running away from the strength of his feelings, returning the next day to explain that it met nothing, and then starts dating someone else immediately. Honestly, Leo is hard to like with how callously he treats Harper at the beginning of the book. As we learn more about his parents, his actions start to make sense.
When he discovers she is pregnant (while asking her to cater his girlfriend's birthday party, no less), he makes more mistakes with her heart. Eventually, they start to build a relationship as Leo starts to open up about his past and realize that he is not his parents. They make lots of mistakes along the way, but this is a journey of learning to listen, letting go of past hurts (or at least understand how they impact how you see yourself), and learning to stay when it would be easier to leave.
Leo's redemption arc is messy, filled with mistakes, but Harper's willingness to hope despite having her fear that people leave confirmed when Leo does that shows her vulnerability and strength. Harper's journey is what makes this story the page turner that it is.
If you love a good story with found family, secrets, love, family drama, heartbreak, emotional and wonderful sexy hockey players, you will love this one.
Harper is a chef and a nice, all-around girl who seems to have it all together, but has had a sucky home life, some of which she and Leo have in common, although Leo's is pure toxic.'
Leo is, overall, a good guy, but has some intimacy issues. Once he sorts things out, he might have what his hockey mates have; misunderstandings might keep them apart.
It took a lot for both Leo and Harper to lay their hearts bare, but we felt that once they did, they would be able to overcome whatever obstacles lay between them.
The sexy scenes are sensual, and their chemistry is beautiful. They make a wonderful couple. We love seeing the caring and protective side of Leo; it came easily, and we think that surprised even Leo himself.
The story is filled with wonderful characters: Leo's Grizzly mates and the wives are both his and Harper's found family. The women, men, and the witty banter between them provided the laughs; most of all, they are all so supportive of one another.
We saw some new characters, Sawyer Hill and Lainey, being added to the mix, and we can't wait to know them better. The ending was perfect! To know all their ups and downs and heartbreak was well worth it.
Harper and Leo meet at a friend's baby shower, he plays hockey for the San Jose Grizzlies. They spend a lot of time chatting and getting to know each other, one thing leads to another and when he leaves he whispers - I can't wait to see you again - except he thinks on it and realises that he has no idea how to be in a relationship, his parents just fought and bad mouthed each other all the time and he was in the middle, trying to keep the peace, and not often succeeding, then he left to play hockey and stayed with other families but didn't have the time or maturity to see how they worked. So he doesn't contact her at all. Harper expected that, her father wasn't good at all, he left her mother early on in Harper's life, came and went a few times but never stuck around, so Harper was on her own when her mother became ill. Her boyfriends also just left her mostly with horrible words. So now she's alone again and supporting herself with her baking and cooking, paying off her debts and meeting the women who are partnered with the players. Then she starts feeling ill and realises what might have happened, Leo is amazed and after some thought is really happy with the idea, he really likes Harper but is still stuck with things from the past. Can they communicate better? Will he overcome his issues with the past?
Another great read in the series from Elise, 5+ stars!
Harper and Leo had a spectacular night together, and it seemed as though each felt they had met their person. Only to have Leo douse those thoughts in the morning out of fear. Of course that night together also lead to Harper's pregnancy.
Knocked up by #90 was a quick read for me. The Grizzlies is a series that I've been enjoying, so it was easy to get right back into that world with the characters. I loved the friendship that Harper had with the other women, and how her career was so important to her. It was obvious she was putting in the work to make it a success. Her pregnancy wasn't going to let that dwindle at all. Then there's Leo who wants a relationship, but also doesn't at the same time. He clearly has some things to work through. While he works through those issues, he continues to be a presence in Harper's life. At times he even over steps, but that's the man that he is.
Harper and Leo have an incredible connection, and once they finally get together everything just feels "right". They can finally find that happily ever after and enjoy the family that they've created.
This was a good read. While the whole surprise pregnancy isn't a favorite trope of mine, it was still a good story, and I enjoyed my time in the Grizzlies world. I also liked the set up for future books that will not necessarily take place in this setting.
Another hockey romance in the books! One night leads to a life time of changes. Harper is a chef that was catering a friends party and Leo is a hockey player that was there. They had a one night thing, and before she woke up the next morning he was gone but not after he said he wanted to see her again. However she panicked and felt like she wasn’t good enough and he got scared because isn’t one to settle down. She finds out she is pregnant one day at work and it happens to be the exact same time that Leo comes into her job to have her cater something. However he sees the tests and knew right away. As time goes on they have a love hate relationship her the hate him wanting to do everything for her. She isn’t use to that a panics but she slowly learns that this is what is like to be cared for. There is one issue… Leo’s crazy girlfriend that is making things complicated. Once she is out of the pictures the relationship between these two heat up and they learn to trust love and work together with each other. While this is part of The Grizzle’s Hockey Series there isn’t to much around hockey. It’s his friends are his teammates and there only a little mention of it during the story. Which works well for this story. It brings this second chance, found family one night stand story together.
I love being back with the Grizzlies gang and the friendships that have developed over time. Knocked Up By Number Ninety is book three of the Grizzlies Hockey series and it is Harper and Leo's story. Their journey to their HEA is one filled with broken hearts, families that are not families, friends who are family, and a love that cannot be ignored. Ms. Faber delivers a book that is entertaining and a joy to read. A great night of sex and a statement of " can't wait to see you again has Harper looking for more but Leo panics. They have a connection but things fall apart because of his past and how he feels about relationships and families. Leo's parents were never really parents, and Harper's dad walked away over and over. Little did they both know that life had plans for them and now they are trying to be friends, but their hearts want something else. One of the things I loved was how Leo tried to take care of Harper and do everything to make sure she was ok. Although he was met with stubbornness, he finally broke down Harper's walls and she let im in. Friends play a big part in their lives and what happens. The guys on the team add some lighthearted banter and the girls take Harper under their wings. I am looking forward to the next book in the series.
Loved the story Didn’t like the MMC - at least in the first half.
So he hooks up with someone (Harper) from their friend group. Seems all in. Then the next day, basically does the whole ‘nope, we’re not doing this’ thing. THEN, he claims it’s not a girlfriend (but looks like a relationship, smells like a relationship, acts like a relationship), and keeps hiring her to cater their events with said girlfriend. Absolute D move, and borderline psychotic that he thinks this is ok.
Love the team, love the girls. Leo can go hang. Both carry trauma from how they were raised. He confirmed how she feels about herself. He hurts her to protect himself, but it’s ok because he’s a ‘nice guy’.
But… it’s almost like once they hit the halfway mark and he got his head out of his A… it was an instant turnaround, and he was a dream. I don’t know how she did it, but Elise managed to get me on his side… even if it was reluctantly. I am definitely interested in Sawyer’s story - can’t wait to see how it unfolds…
Thanks, Elise, for the advance copy. I’m impressed with how you managed to change my mind.
It was a one night thing! That’s all Leo Richardson ever did. But Harper doesn’t do one nighters. He knew that from the beginning, but he couldn’t help himself. He was so drawn to her. Still is if he’s honest about it! The last thing he says before falling asleep with her in his arms is, “I can’t wait to see you again!” But when she wakes up he’s gone. But she still has hope because she heard what he said. But then he shows up at her kitchen and tells her it was a mistake, breaking her fragile heart like every other man in her life has. Neither of them can really get over their encounter, though Leo tries his best to replace Harper, even “dating” another woman exclusively for a couple of months. But now Harper knows that she’s pregnant, confirmed by 5 positive tests. Of course that’s the day Leo decides to show up and ask her to cater a birthday dinner for the woman he’s “dating”! Elise Faber is master of storytelling, and Knocked Up By Number 90 continues this trend! Beautifully written with believable and relatable characters, this book has all the feels! Another ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ read from Elise Faber!
In this third installment of the Grizzlies Leo and Harper spend a night together and both feel that this could go somewhere, but when she wakes the next morning, Harper finds herself alone. Assuming that Leo has gone to the rink for practice, Harper goes to work, only to have Leo come to the shop and tell her it's not going to work. Devastated, Harper vows to just get on with her life, even though they mix in the same circles and she sees Leo all the time. She thinks she is succeeding, when two pink lines manage to put that in jeopardy! These two refuse to acknowledge the chemistry between them, but do try to be friends as they will have to coparent.
Both Leo and Harper carry a lot of baggage from their upbringings, which needs to be sorted out so that they can move forward. This journey is messy and filled with heat and heart and if they finally find their way through, will they get their HEA? Once again, Ms. Faber has woven a tale of love, heat with a side of humor in the form of the other members of the Grizzlies, especially Smitty! I love a good hockey romance and Ms. Faber certainly knows how to write them!
The 3rd book in the Grizzlies series is as good as all the other things that Elise writes. This series is great in of itself and the made family that is created. Leo is the playboy of the group and wears a mask around everyone so he doesn't have to show that hurt little boy and angry teenager that was created by his parents disfunction. He chooses to not be in a serious relationship because of their behavior.
Harper is the "official" Grizzlies caterer and part of the family. She has parent issues of her own and just wants to find someone who loves her and will stay. After a Grizzlies event Harper and Leo spend the night together and it is something that they didn't expect. Leo says what is on his heart and it scares him to death and he runs while breaking Harpers heart.
When Harper finds out she is pregnant and tells Leo, she expects nothing from him. Then Leo shows her the real person behind his playboy persona and they slowly build a relationship starting with friendship. Leo finally breaks down and tells Harper why he is the way he is and Harper explains her baggage as well. They work together to start healing and becoming a family.
