Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (5/5)
A breathtakingly beautiful volume that captures the messy, wonderful process of growing up.
I am in absolute awe of this volume. While Megumi Morino’s art has been consistently stunning throughout the entire series, Volume 17 feels like the pinnacle of that dedication. Every panel is dreamy and soft, capturing such a wide range of raw emotions—not just from our leads, but from the side characters as well.
The story at this point is truly lovely because the characters are not perfect. There has been so much debate throughout this series about "red flags" vs "green flags," but I think those reviews miss the point: these characters are young. This volume beautifully portrays that maturity isn't something you're born with; it’s something you grow into as you navigate life and relationships.
Seeing Hananoi and Hotaru evolve from where they started to who they are now makes it impossible not to root for them. It’s a realistic, emotional journey that makes you smile, cry, and laugh right along with them.
It breaks my heart to know the next volume is likely the last. I feel like I could watch these characters grow for many more years. A masterpiece of growth and gorgeous artistry.

😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭

I was SO scared to start this volume after what happened in the previous volume, despite that Hotaru is smiling so beautifully and brightly on this cover, and that it would SEEM like it would be a much happier volume than the last.

Thankfully, that was true! 😭😭😭

Absolutely beautiful and touching to not only see a more confident Hananoi, but I would say much more open and straightforward Hotaru! Honestly, I feel this was her volume and was so proud of her to say the things in her heart without worrying how Hananoi would react. It was so powerful, and I feel that when she boldly said two words to him later on, it really was the perfect way to "wrap up" this volume!

I was surprised by how many bonus stories we had, but I loved them all! They were wonderful and felt like they were a cherry on top to really heal my heart after everything that had happened! <3

If you were scared or nervous to start this volume because you didn't know if it would have even more heartache, I'm thankful to share that no, your heart will be stitched together and feel whole once again alongside these two wonderful characters! It truly was a beautiful and heartfelt volume that will be one of the most memorable volumes of this series for sure!

this was a THICCC one....I'm so glad that they reunited, and it was as heartbreaking and uplifting as I was hoping it would be. hotaru really went out of her comfort zone and hananoi definitely matured a bit/gained some independence which he desperately needed. I am excited for the last volume, though can't believe we're at the end!!!

I will say - the teacher/childhood friend and high school girl relationship is still just a bit too far into ick territory for me, and sohei's goodbye was a little overdramatic in my humble opinion. but overall, still a super solid volume.

I freaking teared up during that one scene! Such a good series! Plus, there’s a tbc at the end of the bonus, so we got at least another volume to read!

While I love love love that church scene, jumping on a plane is a bit much. They’re so cute though.

I really love how much help Hotaru received from all of her friends to make her trip to England a reality. It was very sweet seeing the moments between Yao-kun and Satomura that happened in this volume, and how she helped him with having one final conversation with Hotaru to let out all of his feelings. I especially enjoyed seeing Hananoi’s time in England and his budding friendship with the neighborhood boy.
With how things played out between Hotaru and Hananoi during the surprise reunion in England, then the glimpse of his return to Japan in the bonus chapter, I’m very hopeful and optimistic going into this next and final volume.

Hotaru went to get her guy! It felt rushed, but Saki *finally* realizes that he's worthy of love, they reunite, and make an adorable vow to themselves in an English church. Cute!

Hotaru takes a stand and makes a rather surprising move on her own. It's understandable why her parents were so concerned at the start, but it's good that her friends backed her up and were able to help her come up with a safe plan to achieve her goal. She's more than a little lucky when she gets to England, though it may not seem that way at first. Really, what are the odds a simple notebook would lead Hotaru and Hanananoi back together again. It's not all smooth sailing, though it's clear even with their own inner turmoils, they really do still want the same things. This volume leaves a mix of sweet and pins and needles feelings as the story plays out and we see where things seem to be going from here.
