I spent years with a man that abused every part of me. Never loved me the way I loved him and constantly kicked me when I was already the lowest of the low. Simmy came into my life, and though he was quiet and afraid, he loved me. Even when he couldn’t admit it to me out loud, he showed me his love through actions. A provider, leader, and the king. A man who would give his life for mine because he was raised that way. I’ve gone so long never knowing true love, until I met Quasim Inferno. They took him from me… As the queen Inferno before me, there’s no more running. No more hiding, only showing up. Let them believe the kingdom crumbles without him. It only makes our rise more dangerous. More ruthless. More legendary. Because my husband was King Inferno. Or maybe… he still is.
So, this wasn’t one of those books I was foaming at the mouth for. I was interested, but honestly kinda split mainly because the last two just didn’t hit the way I wanted them to. That said: Jah really did her thing with this one. You can feel that the extra time it took was necessary, and I appreciated her being transparent about it. Not saying the previous books were rushed, but at times it did feel like things were being churned out just to meet demand, and it led to repetitive scenes and plot holes.
This one, though? Told VERY and I mean very well. Honestly, it might be my favorite from this season’s setup.
I especially loved how she handled Zoya and Goon’s story finally some subtle breadcrumbing instead of dragging us through a full subplot. Their cameos were actually timely and purposeful. Also, let’s be real: Polo might be the funniest man alive 😉. I laughed out loud more than once. But now… let me explain why this wasn’t a full 5 stars for me personally lol I promise I’ll keep it cute.
Editing gaps and repeated details. There were clear moments where the draft didn’t get the polish it deserved. Example: the scene where Capri and Lucia meet for hot dogs. Capri’s outfit got described in full—twice a sentence apart. I get Lucia’s not a fashion girl, but that red wool coat was apparently a whole character Jacket really pissed Lucia off.
We STILL don’t know Quasim and Blair like that. Listen… I like them, but we’ve barely spent quality time with them. This book was almost split down the middle (I did count the chapters between them lmao vs the others)with cameos and POVs that didn’t always serve the main love story. And why are Quasim and Blair still in the same mess from Book 1? They’re literally trauma twins. Blair wants vulnerability, but didn’t even tell him she was in a DV support group? Meanwhile Quasim shuts down like always, and now she’s mad again? Girl, say “you’re pissing me off” and mean it! This whole “give him space” thing just dragged the story. Either grow or go. It’s Book 3. Let’s clock into healing, please.
Word choice errors that broke the vibe. If you tell us you took your time, I need tighter execution. “305s”? Ma’am, are we DJ Khaled lmao are the readers just a lil more than hoes? And I know you meant “ceased,” not “seized.” “Obsessive force”?? The context wasn’t contexting. These weren’t just typos they were distractions. As a reader, it pulled me out of the flow every time.
That opening author’s note… This is tricky, but I gotta be honest. I think the note came off a little defensive. If multiple readers point out confusion or pacing issues, it might not just be “reader hate.” You don’t have to take every critique, but if many people say “it felt like too much was happening,” maybe it’s not about intelligence it might be about clarity. Maybe the pacing is rushed. Maybe major plot points are crammed into the last 3 chapters with a cliffhanger and no breathing room. These are valid concerns not shade. The whole not tagging authors in negative reviews oh I agree 100% cus that WEIRD AF, and not being rude to them should be a given but some folks don’t have no decency.
All that said, I still really enjoyed this book. The improvements were clear. The storytelling leveled up. And most importantly, it made me excited for what’s next. That’s huge.
With just a bit more refinement, especially editing we’ll be in 5-star territory, no question. Jahquel is undeniably talented and she’s gonna craft some action packed scenarios especially on the streets of NY. I really can tell that this one did take a little more time than the others and it’s greatly appreciated because it showed this was a damn good book.
After being on this ride with Jah for almost 20 books and after that cliffhanger in book 2, this book was very anticlimactic for me. Quasim books 1 and 2 were both hands-down, no questions asked, 5 Star reads, so I was expecting that same Inferno Fire for this one. Sadly, this story was not that AT ALL. In fact, it felt emotionally draining and left me conflicted because I wanted and expected so much more from Quasim.
Although he wasn't even a main character in his own story (which is wild), when he did show up he was the shell of himself that slipped back into that dark and full of greif book 1 version of himself, which diluted all the progress made in book 2. Then, after all Blair went through in her past to still not have the beautiful stress-free pregnancy that we were all rooting for, made me super sad.
And while I absolutely loved Aimee and Capella's growth- that graduation scene literally had me in real happy tears - The rest of the book just felt heavy with dark with sad undertones. It also felt like a book about everybody else BUT Blair and Quasim.
I am happy that karma came for all those that deserved it, but even the way most of those scenes played out felt disjointed and more like something to check off the list. Then there was quite a bit of randomness about people places and things that felt haphazardly thrown in that had me so confused. I literally reread sections because it felt like I skipped over something with the way some of the conversations happened.
Overall although the author warned us that this book had a lot going on, let us know life has been life'n for her, and then immediately tried to read us readers for filth in her Authors Note, I am still going to to give MY opinion because I have been riding this ride with her for a while now and if we can't be honest with each other then what are we even doing? This book was NOT her best work. It was not consistent of the greatness that was books 1 and 2 for Quasim. Heck, even the cover art wasn't as good. And although they are fictional characters, Quasim and Blair did not get a finale fit for the King and Queen, and we readers didn't get the quality product that Jah gave us in books 1 and 2.
5/5 — What a great way to wrap up Quasim and Blair’s story. I love this family down, the Delgato’s and Inferno’s. This finale had me on edge and feeling so many different emotions from start to finish. I didn’t expect anything less. — I’m ready for Goon and Zoya now!
I love Jahquel and have read 95% of her catalog. This came out and like others I rushed to get. But unfortunately it was a let down. Where was the love. The Romance that Blair deserved. Felt like I was reading a tubi crime movie. Like some action is okay. But this was not like the others. And to have the main character out of commission majority of the book is crazy work. Plus you have Capri who had her own set of books, speaking the most in this book. Why? And then you have a slew of other povs we didn’t ask for. I literally started speed reading just to get through. Maybe waiting months isn’t it and Jah needs to go back to dropping these like mix tapes. Either way I Still love our girl. This was just a miss
Had to come back and add my review after thinking on it. While I am a huge fan of this series, I feel like there has been a change in the writing and not in a good way. I noticed it starting with Capri.
Quasim’s final book fell flat and felt rushed. This was way more wordy that the others. Very long monologues over explaining everything in the characters thoughts could have been severely cutdown. I would prefer more banter between the characters than spending 5 pages reading someone’s thoughts and remembering the past. I can tell that the fans and social media had a big influence in this book and how she created the ending.
I was most let down by how things were brought to a close with Lucia. Lucia doing all of this bc she was mad her man didn’t want her? That’s what we came up with for her causing so much destruction?.I felt like we had all this build up in the previous books (Capone, Cappadonna, Capri) to be let down by that. I understand there were personal things happening in her life but it is definitely reflected in the writing.
The finale was everything I hoped for and more. Lots of tears and heavy heart felt moments but the banter and jokes balanced it out perfectly. I love these characters real bad and was so happy they got their happily ever after. 💜
The anticipation for this book was well worth it! When Jah said you will get a little bit of EVERYTHING in this book she meant that. When a book can have you laughing, crying and cussing all in ONE chapter… just know you in for a timeeeee. Watching Simmy, Blair and Eli get the love that they each desired and DESERVE *cheffs kiss*. We know Jah writes fiction she also incorporate realness. We witnessed each character go through real life situations that may have bended but they DIDNT BREAK! One of my favorite things is the bonds they’ve build within eachother. Each one has their own person outside of their partner and I love that for them❤️. Everyone go EXACTLY WHAT TF THEY DESERVED ! The get back was well worth it🫢😏,. Play with ya mama dont play with the family. Now let me s/o my girl Blair because I’ve seen people in some fb groups saying that she didn’t come far enough 😒. When we met Blair she was a former shell of herself; used , broken and bruised. She didn’t think she was deserving of true and genuine love. Blair lost herself for so long and now our girl is QUEEN INFERNO🔥. Blair can stand on business but also has a whole army behind her ready to go to war ! She rich in love ,happiness , peace and the biggest flex the family she always wanted ❤️🥹. This may be the end of this journey but still much more to go! Jah you really are something special.
That extraaaaaa chapter had me clutching my mf pearls.. Jah gon keep us on our toes 🙂↔️
I haven’t slept because I couldn’t stop reading. Oh my gawddddd. It was so good. Jah never misses. It was worth the wait. I don’t want to spoil it for everyone else but it was great. And I need Menace, Cappy, & Goon in every book for comedic relief.
I’m a fan of the Delgato/Inferno universe from the moon and back. One of my favorite aspects of each series has always been getting to know each couple’s story. Coming off the high of Q2, I was really looking forward to the conclusion of Blair and Simmy’s journey.
Unfortunately, this book felt more focused on side characters, with a sudden conflict between the main couple introduced near the end. The pacing was choppy, and the flow of the story felt disjointed. It was clear that some scenes and chapters were inserted primarily to tie up loose ends or appease long time fans.
My only real wish is that the story had centered more on Blair and Simmy throughout the book. I’m familiar with the author’s style and storytelling rhythm, which is why I was surprised this conclusion to King Inferno didn’t land with the same impact. It felt a bit flat for such a highly anticipated wrap up.
There were some characters that didn't need a chapter...I needed more of Blair and Quasim. They were apart most of the book. This felt like more of Capri's story! They are owed an epilogue...because they are King and Queen Inferno...
DNF at 34% for now. I can’t get into it and that’s a first for me in the year of following these characters. I love Sim and Blair so I’m sad about it. Normally I would finish Jahs books the same day but I just asked for spoilers, between the flashbacks and multiple POVs I’m not feeling the emotions I should. I don’t expect Sim to just pop back up but I would’ve have liked more present day moments without characters reminiscing on things that could’ve been shared before a finale in my opinion, it just feels like fluff to. I plan to revisit one day, but for now the only story I want to read is Jaiden’s.
I liked this story more as the books went on, but being honest, I find myself more interested in everything else going on outside of Sim and Blair. The constant repetition of him pulling back from her got real old, and we really only see them happy for a tiny portion of the book. This felt disheartening to me as a reader who's been excited for this couple and pulling for them from the beginning. I did like the way Jah ended it all, but goodness, the journey was rough.
Now baby, this book deserved every star it got🤧. I was in this bih boohooing for a minute because not they done took out the Kanggg.
Anywho, Jahquel has a way of making you fall in love with her characters, so these people could have spent the entire book standing in line at the DMV and I still might’ve messed around and given it 5 stars ⭐️.
This. Right. Here!! BRAVO! The storytelling is complex and phenomenal. It feels special to see these characters and storylines through from the very beginning.
The book was a good read but I wish it was more about the main characters. There was a lot of characters that didn’t need a lot of attention. I understand getting ready for other books but it should been done in away that the King and Queen still held majority the shine. I felt like Capri got to much attention and she had her own books. I wish we would’ve got more character development for Blair.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
Mediocre at best The flashbacks were unnecessary The song plugs unnecessary Nothing really pulled me in It was no chapter where i was like aw shit she snapped Story seemed to be about everybody else but the main characters Very underwhelming Part 3 didnt measure up to book 1&2 especially with all the suspense surrounding it
What a ride!!! 🏍🏍 This family is not just blood, but solidified love! The way this author has dropped gems, she makes ya think these men are available for sale on Amazon! 🤣😂 The balance in handling business and bringing humor is a gift every character has in this series. Sooo ready for Goon! Faw.... ya meannnn! 😝😝😝 💚💛💜
Quasim & Blair’s journey was emotional, raw, and heavy 😮💨💔 Jahquel J took us through pain, healing, and growth in a way that had me deep in my feelings 😭🔥
This wasn’t just a love story — it was about survival, redemption, and choosing each other through the chaos 💭🖤 The emotions? REAL. The writing? 🔥 The impact? Unforgettable. And their family dynamic? So dope and full of heart. 🫂👶🏾❤️
I can usually read a Jahquel book in a day or two. But it took me awhile to finish this one. It was kind of boring compared to her other books and it dragged and had a lot of details that just weren’t necessary. I lost interest but kept reading because I was already so invested in the series.
I'm afraid this third installment wasn't necessary. I'm sad to say that Quasim's story was my least favorite. The series could have been finished in two books. It was entirely too long, and drawn out with too many POVs - not enough Quasim and too much Capri. Huh?!?I'll stick to the stand-alone books from this author because it seems to be a recurring theme with the multiple installments.
I loved this series so much… I don’t care how many more characters she wants to elaborate on and give us their stories I will be right there! Riding the wave… it’s Jahquel’s world we just living in it!
This was everything. Best season, best writing, and like I said before… authors aren’t writing stories like this. This plot is so well thought out, there’s so many twists and turns, the emotion is so real that I feel like I’m experiencing these events with these characters. Everyone has such a distinct personality which makes you care about all of them at least a little bit and that’s not easy to do. I loved the inclusion of Mina, Papa and Des, you can really see where some of the crazy comes from and I love that. I almost had to knock Sim tf out but Blair did her big one and I was so proud of her. The character development is insane and also why they have one of my favorite relationships bc it’s so real. Everything about this had me in my feelings and the words just hit. One of my favorite parts was the graduation and Menace clapping 😭 cmon. And Aimee x Capella finally got it together which was beautiful. I’m so happy for everyone and how their stories concluded. This was truly an amazing series. Now I’m ready for Zoya x Goon and with that twist at the end? Yeah this is gonna be good too.
This is the perfect conclusion to the most mysterious character. Quasim 3 takes a close look at grief, how it reshaped a family, and how it morphs relationships. There are so many twists and turns in this story to take us home and each one is fun. After waiting so long (it's not that long we are just spoiled) for the conclusion of Blair and Quasim's love story, I feel proud and fulfilled after all the conflicts. This is more than the story of Blair and Quasim falling in and staying in love, this is the story of a man learning his role as King entails more than giving orders, it also means sharing the weight of the crown. I love how seamlessly Jahquel blended humor, grief, spirituality, and espionage to present us with this finale.
I tried to savor this book as long as I could. It’s not goodbye it’s see you later 😩🥹
I thought the delgato series pulled at my heart strings but QUASIM! Lord this series was deep. I can’t even put this review into words but just know this series left more than a mark on my heart and mind.
Quasim and Blair I love yall so much. I really know yall in person idc idc🤣🥹💕
Jahquel my girl you did your BIG ONE ON THIS SERIES! I need the physicals expeditiously!
Anywho just read this series and you’ll understand that not every review can be put into words but just know this series was FELT✨
I’ve always been a big fan of Jah and usually love diving into her work. But I struggled getting through Quasim 2 and 3. As much as I wanted to stay connected to the characters, a lot of it felt cringey especially the hyper-dependence between Blair and Quasim. There were moments where their dynamic felt more emotionally exhausting than romantic or redemptive, and it made it hard to root for them.
Still, I admire Jah’s ability to explore raw, layered emotions, and I respect the journey she’s trying to portray. This just wasn’t my favorite hoping the next one brings more growth and balance.
P.S: The constant “make it home to us” from nearly every female character became exhausting. All the woman having the same plea to their husbands, felt more like emotional begging than partnership. At some point, I wanted to see confidence and emotional security Especially from Erin and Capri saying things like, “I know you’re going to make it home,” or even “I trust how we move.”
"A nigga was feeling nice, and I started moving my hips like I was fucking Selena, because a nigga was Bidi Bidi Bom Bom."
Jahquel J does an amazing job with dropping humor in key moments statements like this in the middle of the suspense or action actually is top tier. The topic and themes were heavy but brought a serious edge. But as a whole there is a breakdown between how the suspense and romance is handled.
Suspense ★★ Sometimes, big twists happen in the story, and it feels like a detriment to the overall story. The suspense build is really good, but key facts are randomly changed in the story.
Romance ★ After Quasim II, I realized that viewing these stories as romances when they are purely Romantic Crime/Suspense is a me problem but still how is the book called King Inferno when he gets little amount of chapters? How is this presented as Blair and Sim's love story, but they barely get "screen time," and when they do, a lot of it isn't even focused on them or their relationship. Old conflicts and insecurities that were settled in Book 1 and 2 come flying out. Out of 43 chapters, the king and queen get 21, out of the 21 Quasim only gets 10. He's laid up for the majority of the story. Then, their non-existant romance hit an unnecessary snag for the 3rd act.
Umm ♠︎There are inconsistencies that impact the suspense. From Thea to Lucia and even the gender of Baby Inferno, the inconsistencies that pop up feel it serves the plot in that specific moment but hurts the story overall.
♠︎Suspense needs good villains. This series felt like we got villain after villain and a lot of plotting to take them down....only for their ending or demise to be very anticlimactic.
♠︎Certain unnecessary povs. Some side characters get flushed out details when it should be a separate book because it took away from Sim/Blair. Some chapters could be cut, and the major story beats would not have missed a thing.
All the same I do enjoy Jahquel J's writing. When she's in the pocket, it's exhilarating. My biggest gripe is the constant repetition in each family group. The Infernos do not feel like a separate entity with their own culture or lane. It feels like an extension of the Delgatos. They have the same wedding traditions as the Delgatos, they have the same exact Caribbean vacay spot as the Delgatos, they live in the same compound with the Delgatos, they have the same summer traditions as the Delgatos, they share the same exact personel. The crime action impacts all of them, so all of them are always involved doing the same exact thing in the same exact roles.
Shine Bright Jahquel J shines best with her standalone books. Those are forced 400-600 pages, but the storylines remain consistent, the romance feels crisper and cohesive, and the action feels well placed with no pacing issues. The side characters don't become a major focus for the most part.
This series didn’t pack the punch I hoped it would. It wasn’t a Quasim series to me. Also Blair was childish and I was supposed to believe she was a queen? Quasim deserved better. First, the stuff with Zay. Then the stuff with Berkeley. Then, how she acted when she first got pregnant. Then, walking out on your marriage? Nah, Blair wasn’t it.
Y'all the wait was worth every second. I mean truly worth the wait! Mrs. Author Lady ain’t just promise a little bit of everything, she spun the block and delivered it all. Chaos, healing, deep love, betrayal, laughter, and straight-up pain—all living on the same page like they got beef. One minute I’m cracking up, next minute I’m wiping tears, and then I’m yelling at the book like it owes me something. That’s how you know it’s different.
Quasim, Blair, and Eli? Whew. Those love stories weren’t cute, they were real. Messy, grown, and hard-earned. This ain’t no fairy tale—it’s love forged in fire, molded by truth. Jah gave them what they deserved, not what looked good. And when she lets the line between fiction and real life blur? You feel that. Heavy.
What really made this book hit for me, besides the music suggestions, was how each character stood on their own. Yeah, the love stories were beautiful, but the friendships, the found family, the healing journeys? That’s where the magic lived. Loyalty, protection, grace—it was all in there. Ain’t nobody out here playing sidekick. Everybody brought their own light.
Let’s talk about them ladies though. Murder Mina? Gams? Baby. I wasn’t ready. The Delgato and Inferno women walked into this book wounded, but they ain’t leave the same. By the end? Cold. Calculated. Powerful. The transformation was wild. They ain’t just survive—they snatched back everything that was ever taken from them.
And that revenge? That was poetry. Sweet, deliberate, earned. Everybody got theirs, and watching it unfold was satisfying in a way I can’t even explain. Jah made sure the scales balanced.
Blair needs to be respected at all times. When we first met her, she was barely hanging on—stripped of her worth, scared to even want more. But by the end? Queen. Rebuilt from the ground up. She didn’t just heal, she rose. Rich in love, wrapped in peace, and surrounded by people who'd ride for her without question. That’s not growth, that’s legacy.
And that bonus chapter? I wasn’t okay. I’m still not okay. Jah don’t let you rest—she keeps her foot on our necks with no warning. Respectfully.
It's so much more but I don't spoil it...just know its still echoing. Full of grit, grace, and gut punches. This series? Untouchable. Ten toes, no skips, no notes. Just my opinion.
