Rate this book
Beyond the horizon, a new battle awaits.

In the heart of a tempestuous sea, where the Atlantic roars with untamed fury, an ambitious Norse leader casts his fate into the unknown. When Leif Wolf Killer sets sail on a raid to lands shrouded in mystery, he seeks glory and treasure but soon finds himself caught in a web of nature's wrath and fierce Arab warriors who will stop at nothing to defend their waters.

As violent storms rage and treacherous waters rise, the ancient legend of the Three Sisters surfaces in the form of a dragon-shaped rock, rising up from the depths and drawing Leif closer.

Driven by a desire to reunite with his family, Leif must navigate not only the perilous ocean but also the clash of wills against a fierce enemy. As the shadow of Dragon Rock looms, he stands at a crossroads between destiny and destruction. Will this mysterious rock be the ultimate test of his courage, leading him to salvation, or will it seal his fate and that of his crew?

A historical fiction novel set in 9th-century Europe, Dragon Rock is the eagerly anticipated sequel to the best selling Norse Warrior. Following a clan of Vikings, it charts their journey through the empire of Charlemagne to the shores of the Mediterranean.

Fast paced, action packed and full of history, the Norseman series by Griff Hosker is perfect for fans of Bernard Cornwell, Simon Scarrow and Ben Kane.

I was born in 1950 in Lancashire and attended a boy’s grammar school. After qualifying as an English and Drama teacher in 1972, I worked in the North East of England for the next 35 years. During that time I did write, mainly plays, pantos and musicals for the students at the three schools in which I worked.

When I stopped teaching I set up my own consultancy firm and worked as an adviser in schools and colleges in the North East of England. The new Conservative Government ended that avenue of work and in 2010 I found that I had time on my hands; having started work at the age of 15 I found the lack of work not to my liking and used the time to research the Roman invasion of Britain and begin to create a novel. The result was The Sword of Cartimandua.

My decision to begin writing was one of the best I have ever taken.

Hosker never sleeps

By the time I will write this, Mr Hosker will have written another whole novel. Saying he is prolific is an understatement. Yet, they don’t seem hurried and I hanging on every word, as strange as they may be (thanks for the glossary). These Norse raiders seem a bit tame, however, showing mercy to their slaves and even some enemies. As humans we have come a long way. But I am glad the Norsemen quit their Viking ways.

love this author!

What an amazing author. Every book I’ve read (and that’s a whole lot of his) have been intriguing and well written. The characters are well thought out and likable or unlikable depending on the story line. If you like historical fiction written by a wonderful storyteller, give Griff Hosker a try.

This is a very well researched and well written book. It is the second of the Norseman series featuring Leif Wolf Killer. He definitely matures as both a seaman and warrior in this book. There is much information about Norse raiders (Vikings) here and I learned much while being totally entertained.
The author hints at a third book for this series. I hope he isn’t kidding. Great stuff.

Norseman Books

I truly enjoy Griff’s writing skill. Such a talented wordsmith. The ability to quickly introduce the plot,by building the characters. Then melding them into a great tale. I never underestimate the writers skills in any of his books. Such a talented prolific writer. I yearn for more of his historical narratives. Cheers

AN EXCITING, RIVETING, PAGE-TURNING STORY!!!!

Griff Hosker has given us a story to remember; sitting on Lief's shoulder and at the edge of his thoughts, Sailing the treacherous oceans all the way to the Mediterranean Sea, fighting sea battles and land battles.

There is never a sluggish, boring moment in this rousing tale!!

Near Impossible To Put Down

The two books read thus far pulled me into the storyline completely. Not only the battles against enemies, but the challenges of wild seas and winds will leave the reader wanting more. I do. And I am looking forward the more by the author.

- Again, I got a little tired of the main character eating humble pie all the time. This series was definitely not one of his usual best.

engaging

The story that captures all your free moments. Why these reviews require a minimum number of words is why I don’t usually fill them out. The stars should be enough.
