Raymond Sapienza is the author of four collections of poetry. His poems have been published in Medusa Literature, Kill Poet Press, Fragile Arts Quarterly and Poiesis.
The first thing that I noticed about the book, Tumbled Streams, is the poet's economy of words. Not a syllable is wasted in his poems. He does not resort to sensational language or long monologues to get his point across.
There is an almost mathematical structure and precision to these poems, but this does not detract from the emotional impact they have on the reader. On the contrary, the reader is able to find a turning point, or an "aha" moment in each poem. The poems yield themselves easily to the eyes, it is as if they are laid gently into the reader's palm, like a satisfyingly smooth pebble. They are easy to enjoy.
