A book was recommended, but none of the local libraries had it. So I found a copy at Thrift Books. It came, I read the book, I am charmed. The styling was funny, and I am a fool for a meta picture book.
Turns out, this was not the book that was recommended to me. So now there's another one out there for me to love. Win - win.
It’s interesting that this author wrote this book twice essentially. There is another one called “Be Quiet” that is very close to the same as this one with a few differences. I’m thinking he wrote this and then switched publishing companies and wrote “Be Quiet” which seems to have been more successful. Both books are fun to read and kids would love them!
Really funny, high energy book with the early version of the mice that would become regulars in the Bruce series. Similar story to Ryan's later book: Be Quiet!
Students who experience any frustrations in life will relate to the mouse trying to get his pals to stop talking. Introduces readers to a variety of techniques such as "visually stimulating" and "onomatopoeias". Exaggerated illustrations convey the variety of emotions being expressed. A delightful read and fun way to study the writing process!
