She doesn’t play it safe...

Sophie Sarantos has a weakness for dangerous men. She doesn’t like safe lovers—she likes men with a wild, rough edge. But Sophie may have attracted a lover who is too dangerous, even for her. Someone is stalking Sophie, slipping into her home, watching her day and night. The stranger seems to know all of Sophie’s darkest secrets, secrets that should never be revealed.

Out of options, Sophie turns to ex-solider Lex Jensen for protection. Lex is part owner of VJS Protection, Inc., and Sophie hires him as her bodyguard. She thinks Lex is one of the “good guys” out there, but she couldn’t be more wrong.

He doesn’t play at all...

Lex has his own secrets. Dark, deadly secrets. And as his feelings for Sophie grow, Lex knows that he is going to have to stop pretending to be a gentleman and, instead, he’ll have to show Sophie who he really is. A man trained to kill. A man too used to evil. A man who will take any risk... as long as he can claim Sophie.

Because there is one thing that Lex wants in this world…one person he desires above all others... Sophie. And no one will hurt her, not on his watch.

Once upon a time there was a caveman jerk, leering at a bland damsel in distress. His path was paved with insta-lust and other insta-reactions. The caveman's cock jerked at 5%. *gasp* Get your shit under control, man! She's a client! Or, at least, a potential one. Naturally, the caveman couldn't think straight anymore. "We think of it as the save-your-ass-protection type." His gaze slid to her ass. Such a very nice one it was. Caveman and damsel come to an agreement and off they go to ogle each other with wanton eyes. Caveman's body is burning (I'd wish) with rage and damsel's small, fragile body was barely contained fire and waiting to explode. But then within a short period of time, caveman's fire inside of him wasn't about fury any longer. It was about pure, unadulterated need. And damsel responded eagerly despite her baggage and not being into relationships at all. She's very versed in using men and kicking them to the curb after exploiting her needs during a few ONS. However, let's throw that little unimportant detail over board, shall we?

He just stared back at her. Did his pupils widen a bit? Maybe so.
"You want me." There, she'd said it. Just tossed those words out there. All loud and proud.

Lex, the insanely and unhealthily jealous type of caveman (Baba, what bull are you talking about? Cavemen are always insanely jealous), soldiers on, completely unfazed. He's so quick to sprinting down that Obessionlane that calling her sweetheart at 18% made me roll my eyes several times.

Caveman is bothered seeing damsel crying. He might have promised her anything to stop her tears. Eyes as beautiful as hers shouldn't ever be filled with tears. Not her. Never her.
What is happening to me?

Maybe the insta-lust whacked you over the head? Never worry, it's not far away because need burst to life inside of him. Savage and wild and focused wholly on her. His tongue slid over her lips. Into her mouth. And he feasted.

Crap. I did not feast while reading Want Me.

Caveman is still in dire need to quench his thirst…

Inside of him, the need built ever higher. I'll be having her.

Eyes dry, she was truly the sexiest thing he'd ever seen in his life and he wanted her. He really did. Is this caveman supposed to make damsel's sex clench and heart race? Just the sight of him and that smile of his that held no dimples pledged a deadly promise. Oh goodness gracious! Save me from cheesy and clichéd writing. Thank you. Shut it, Baba, we're not done yet. *Baba nods sadly* Heat flooded her. Her nipples tightened. No! She was in a courtroom, for goodness sake! The ADA was frowning at her and--
Lex kissed her. A hot, deep, I-don't-care-who-is-watching kiss. Totally unprofessional. Totally awesome. Totally make-me-want-to-strip-him.

Baba taps watch impatiently. Are we done now?

Do you remember when I told you that damsel wasn't relationship material due to her childhood "baggage"? Damsel has ONS only. I quote (at 33%):

"That's all I need. I'm not looking for some kind of forever. Some lasting love. I know that's all just BS. But we all need pleasure every now and then, don't we?

And then at 42% her objections vanished into thin air. *insert hysterical laughter*

But seeing the had…that had changed everything for her. Lex wasn't someone to be used and discarded. He was so much more.

Puleeze! *headdesk*

I'm feeling pretty flabbergasted. Considering that I enjoyed Cynthia Eden's Deadly series very much, there might only be two explanations. Either my reading standards shot sky-high or the author lost her edge. If Want Me has been anything to go by, then I'm sorry to say that this book has been my last taste of Cynthia Eden's writing "skills".

Within a few pages into the story, I rolled my eyes ad nauseam. The damsel in distress, the allegedly best defense attorney in the area (duh?), wasn't anything to write home about and the wannabe hero irritated me from the beginning. Want Me is riddled with clichés and beware of all the cheese that tried to suffocate the plot and characters. Jesus.H.Christ. I can't express how bad it was. In fact, the story reads like a cheesy and clichéd 80s Harlequin featuring an idiotic caveman alpha who thinks with his cock and can't wait to jump the fragile and sweet heroine's bones pussy. Everything about this book is friggin' ridiculous.

"Didn't think I was the jealous sort," Lex continued, his voice still that rough tangle of fury and possession. "Until her."

Lex, you're a growling, fury and fire spitting caveman douche who's choking on his insane jealousy. I wish you a nice trip to Nowhereland.

In case I never said it before, Cynthia Eden is one of my all time top favorite authors! She writes really good Romantic Suspense!

I love a good strong alpha, a damsel that is smart and tough but needs some of that testosterone filled protection, and I especially love a good psycho character. YaY for me because this had it all!

While I haven't read book one is this series (which I plan of going back and doing), I quickly caught up with the VJS Protection firm composed of Devlin, Chance, and Lex. Obviously missing out on the action and crazy of book one...this picks up after an attempted murder of local defense attorney and beauty Sophie Sarantos. She is seemingly still in the danger zone and in the sights of Lex Jensen.

 photo PhotoGrid_1422402695586_zpsd2eqyrtc.jpg

But who is this tough beauty? What is she hiding? How is her past connected to her future? A lifetime of defending criminals has earned her a lot of shady popularity and her Love em' quick, and leave em' quicker demeanor adds into her mystique and recent "stalking/attack."

While she has her haters, mostly the members of VJS, Lex isn't buying into the hype. He see through her façade. She may have BFF criminals but her success comes from her own fortitude, not favors! Lex wants her inside and out. His new task to protect her is a given and a perfect opportunity to finally claim what he already knows is his. Maybe just one night will be enough for Lex to get through to her...or just enough for Sophie to refocus.

"Think about what you truly want sweetheart. Because if you break your one night rule with me...I won't let you go. If I have you again, you are mine."

 photo PhotoGrid_1422403064004_zpsbiw5gdvr.jpg

With passion and heat, mystery and edge of you seat suspense, Cynthia Eden completely engages you in under 150 pages. Each character is well developed and connected. While I admit to disliking "insta-lust" it is easy to pick up that this started in book one and did not develop over night. While I got a fabulously tough and strong alpha, I also got a sweet emotional side that was quite palpable. For Lex, he was all in and it literally rocked him...

Want Me is the second book in the Dark Obsession series and this is Lex and Sophie’s story, we met both Lex and Sophie in Watch me.

Lex Jensen is Chance’s friend and business partner at VJS Protection and as soon as he saw Sophie he wanted her.

Sophie Sarantos is Ethan Barclay’s best friend/lawyer. When someone breaks into her home instead of going to Ethan she goes to VJS Protection and hires Lex as her bodyguard. Lex is not going to let anyone harm Sophie again and he is going to do everything he can to protect her from her stalker.

This is a great suspense story I was gripped we get plenty of scary twists and sexy moments between Lex and Sophie. I love the relationship between Sophie and Ethan how much they love each other and what they have done and would do to protect each other and I love Chance, Lex and Dev together the bromance.

Looking forward to Need Me - Dev and Julianna’s story.

I was correct with the stalker in Want Me and for any Cynthia Eden fans who loved her “Mine” series I would strongly recommend Dark Obsession but do read it in order.

Liked it a lot more than Book #1

Want Me by Cynthia Eden
Genres: Adult, Contemporary, Crime, Mystery, Romance, Suspense
4 stars ? Haven't really decided yet.
4 stars is to high, sooo
3.75 Stars rounded up
Nope, going for 3.5 Stars which rounds to
3 Stars.

This one was much better than the 1st book in the series.
There was still a few glitches that pulled the story down.
For the most part I enjoyed it, but it really had the potential to be much better.

4 - He sure felt right. The bad boys always did. Stars!

I don’t think it is any secret that I am a HUGE fan of Cynthia Eden, I think I have read almost every new release from her in the last 12 months or so, and I have no plans to stop. The writing, her characters and storylines just work for me. Whether it be a romantic suspense, PNR or just straight romance title she delivers, and at a very high standard. Yes the storylines are a little similar, and the characters all a little alike, but I don’t care. I like what she offers and I always enjoy what I get!

Want Me is no exception, as the second book in the Dark Obsession series the story takes off a couple of weeks after book one, Watch Me left off.

Protection. Discrete. Assured.

Lex is the J in V.J.S. Protection and when Sophie Sarantos turns up at the company offices seeking protection from an unknown stalker, he immediately steps up, after saving her from her gas filled house a few weeks previous, she has never been far from his thoughts.

As you would expect, the plot twists are many, the sexy times varied and there are surprises a-plenty, all in a typical days work for this author, and I really enjoyed this installment in the series. Luckily we have only got to wait a month for the next book, Need Me due for release in late February.

”I won’t let you go. If I have you again you’re mine.”

The second book in the Dark Obsession series by Cynthia Eden. Sophie Sarantos wakes up and finds a man in her home. She escapes and goes to VJS Protection, Inc. for help. Lex Jensen is there to step up to the plate and take care of business. But business is the last thing on Lex's mind. Sophie is more than just a paycheck for him. But she is keeping secrets and the men of VJS wonder if those secrets may spell doom.

We met both Lex and Sophie in the first book of the series Watch Me . It's been a little while since I read that book so some details were hard for me to remember. Although this book is considered a stand-alone, I think it would be more beneficial for future readers to read the first book before this one. This book does not end with a cliffhanger but it does set the stage for the next book and I will be reading it next.

It was an enjoyable book. Fast paced and sexy! The mystery was good and I actually had my eye on another as the villain. The villain wasn't a total shock but there were details that did surprise me. This series is definitely one that I'd recommend to Romantic Suspense fans.

Did I like this book?

Well...

description

...I did...but I wasn't very fond of the insta lust and insta love crap that was going on. I mean knock you down lust I can understand but professions of love after a few days where to much for me.

description

What I did enjoy very much was the adventure story in the book and how it all plays out. I would have never thought of that one character to be the bad guy so I totally liked that it surprised me.

Reading this book was like watching a short action movie so I totally liked that...complete with damsel in distress (a hot attorney), attempts on her life, murder, creepy stalker, shootings and a handsome ex-military bodyguard :P Which reminds me...

description

Usually if I rate a book in a series with only 3 stars I don't intend on reading the next book in that series but this will be an exception because during this book I got a glimpse of Dev's and Julianna's story and now I totally have to read it because I'm intrigued and curios :)

You know what they say: curiosity killed the cat...to bad I love to live dangerously...through my books :P

We meet Sophie in book one of the Dark Obsession Series; as the hard-nosed attorney that might not always play by the rules. It’s been a few weeks since the man after her oldest friend tried to kill her, since Lex saved her life. And for Lex, it’s been a few weeks of constantly thinking about this woman. When her safety is under attack yet again, she turns to VJS Security and to Lex for protection. Both Lex and Sophie have hidden past, similar pasts. And Lex knows that in order to really have Sophie he has to gain her trust, expose his pasts and prove that he’d do anything to keep her safe. Anything.

This was a pretty fast instant-love relationship story. I did struggle with that aspect a bit. Some stories I can overlook that scenario, and sometimes it just seems to remain the focal point. Want Me, left wondering why the Lex was single up until this point because he seemed to fall pretty hard and easily.

However, what I always love about a book by Cynthia Eden is the guessing game you play throughout the story. Everyone is a suspect and everyone seems to have motive. She doesn’t sneak a new character in at the last minute to fool you. She gives you them early and often... letting them fool you just as they fool the characters. I am a huge fan of her romantic suspense books and although Want Me wasn’t at the top of my list of her books, it was still a good read. I look forward to the final book in this series. Dev’s story was set up perfectly and left me very intrigued. He’s remained sort of a mystery in the whole series so far and his interest in the final book is certainly coming in with one helluva story of her own.

I received this from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Want Me is one action-packed, suspense-filled, steamy read, I have come to expect from Cynthia Eden. When I saw this book on NetGalley, I knew I needed to give it a try. Despite not reading the first book in the series, I had no difficulties reading this story.

Sophie is a take-no-prisoners, hot-shot, defense attorney. She keeps her clients secrets buried on top of her own. When a stalker breaks into her home, she turns to Lex Jensen for help. Lex is part owner of VJS Protection, Inc. Will Lex and his partners be able to keep her safe? Can they find the stalker before he strikes again?

Sophie doesn't allow anyone to get too close. She likes her men a little wild and dangerous so she can love them and leave them. Lex is one tough ex-solider with his own dark secrets. Sophie may have more than she can handle with Lex on the job. This story kept me guessing until the end, which is the way I like it. I would definitely recommend it. I look forward to reading the rest of the series.

*4.5* Loved it. Though my first suspect was the correct one, I must say throughout the book the author managed to make me doubt my first choice. What I really liked about this book was Lex and Sophie. Sure it was insta-lust, insta-love. With the length of the book and the plot having a suspense layer, that's unavoidable. Besides, we get to the hot scenes sooner. ;)

I loved Lex for being alpha, badass, growly and jealous. I loved Sophie because she wasn't sweet and roll-your-eyes naive. She's a lawyer who defends suspected felons. How's that for a change? She doesn't do relationships, but Lex could be her downfall.

As with the last book, there's a creepy stalker obsessed with our heroine. I always loved this trope because that means we get to see a very protective hero and a psychotic villain. :)

I liked the pacing and the twist, turns and red herrings thrown my way. Overall an entertaining read with characters that I liked!

When I can’t figure out who the killer is until the author reveals them, that story’s a winner.

Gwen’s got a stalker… or really more than one. Someone wants to protect her. Someone wants her dead. And someone just wants her.

Chance gave up his chance to be with her. Once her bodyguard, he didn’t believe he deserved her. Now that she’s in danger, now that she needs him, he’s not letting her out of his sight. He’ll put himself between her and whoever is out there to hurt her. He’s not giving her up ever again.

Things were intense for the entire book. From the intimacy between the characters to trying to suss out who was doing what, I had a great time. I haven’t looked ahead for this series and I’m hoping Ethan gets a book because dude deserves some happiness.

Sophie Sarantos woke instantly, knowing that she wasn’t alone...

3.5 RATING+Want Me is the second book in the Dark Obsession series by author Cynthia Eden. While this novella can be read as a stand-alone, some of the set up for the story and dynamics between several of the characters develop in Watch Me, the first book in this series. For that reason, I recommend reading Watch Me first.

Want Me has a very similar formula as Watch Me: damsel in distress, alpha, protective hero, and a creepy stalker-villain. The heroine, Sophie, was a pretty tough cookie but for me, it was of course, the hero that was my favorite. The instant attraction and need to protect Sophie made Lex one of my favorite types or heros!

A man wasn’t supposed to look at a woman and instantly need her. Instantly want her. Instantly imagine her naked and moaning his name. A man was supposed to be civilized. He was supposed to keep his control. He wasn’t supposed to salivate. But when Sophie Sarantos strolled into Lex Jensen’s office , his control started to splinter.

Because of the shorter length of the story (140 pages), there wasn’t a ton of room for development. That being said, the action starts from the very first page and continues at a quick pace. The end was a bit over dramatic but nothing that turned me off from the story (although I will admit to some eye rolling). I actually liked this second book a bit more than the first. I’m not sure if it was because I liked the characters more and the chemistry they had or perhaps there was an added depth to the story because it was the second in the series. Whatever the reason, this story worked better for me than book one.

Overall, this isn’t shaping up to be my favorite Cynthia Eden series but still enjoyable and I really like not having to wait long before each book releases. Solid writing, a protective hero, and steamy bits that worked...

“I want you.”

“You need to want me more.”

She didn’t think that was possible.

“More than breath, Sophie. More than life. More than any man you’ve desired before—”

“I do.” A stark confession.

“And more than any who will come again.”

She didn’t want to think of another lover. Only Lex.

“I need you to want me so much that the rest of the world can just fuck off because they don’t matter. The lies and the games and the pain… none of it matters because you want me so much .” His hands flew out and slapped down on the desk, caging her. “Because that’s how I want you. I want you so much that I feel like I might just rip apart.

5 Hot and Suspenseful STARS ★★★★★

After not being all that impressed with the first book in this series Watch Me, I was a bit concerned starting this one and having it tank too.. particularly since this is one of my favourite authors and always an auto buy. The first book in the series lacked Cynthia's trademark edge and although the plot was conducive to the point of the series as a whole, it just fell a bit flat for suspense... this one though... no, this one was much much better...

We meet up with hard-ball defense attorney, Sophie, again in this one. Ethan, the previous supposed villain's best friend. Sophie is under threat from a stalker who scares her in her home. After which, she enlists the help of VJS protection, and in turn Lex...

Fighting her attraction to Lex and fighting off a stalker who intends to kill for her soons throws Sophie's life into total chaos... Lex, with an unruly attraction towards Sophie, decides to no longer fight it and to take what he wants..

This is where things get really hot and also where this one is sooo much better than the first.. It wasn't mushy mushy couplings but hot, sweaty and urgent sex that ends up defining the couple's unadulterated need for each other..

It had the mystery factor too.. I ended up wondering who the bad guy was right up to when he was revealed and isn't that the secret to thilling and suspense?

Absolutely perfectly done!!!!

Cynthia Eden did a great job with this book. At one point I needed to fan myself I felt the heat coming off of the pages with each word that I read. This book can be read alone and this series can be read out of order. I suggest reading book 1 because it was also great but it will not kill the story if you read it out of order.

Both Sophie Sarantos and Lex Jensen have lived very ruff lives. Due to the circumstances of their past they completely balance each other out. This book made me laugh, cry, and spend every second trying to figure out who the bad guy was. I think everyone got named as the villain in my mind, Cynthia did a great job keeping the reading guessing. Well lets just be honest and say she is a rock star when it comes to these kind of books.

I received this book as an ARC from Netgalley for my honest review. I definitely recommend this book and at 2.99 on bn.com right now you have nothing to lose. You get book one and two for 2.99 each that is basically the price of one book! Read it people, I need more bookaloics like me obsessed with a series that is super sexy and absolutely fantabulous! (That is fantastic and fabulous for those of you that who are confused!)

I wish I had read the first one, not because I was lost or missing anything. There was stuff alluded to from the first book which I think if I read would have made this one even better. This book had suspense, action, sexy alpha, insta-love, and hot sex. Well, I picked the wrong bad guy. Shame on me I should know better. I look forward to the next book(s)...I'm hoping for three more books not just the final member of VJS.

A man wasn’t supposed to look at a woman and instantly need her. Instantly want her. Instantly imagine her naked and moaning his name.
A man was supposed to be civilized. He was supposed to keep his control.
He wasn’t supposed to salivate.
But when Sophie Sarantos strolled into Lex Jensen’s office, his control started to splinter.

Sophie Sarantos and Lex Jensen met in the previous book, when Sophie came to her friend Ethan’s defence and assistance as his lawyer when Lex’s partner Chance suspected Ethan of stalking his now fiancé Gwen. Ever since Lex saw Sophie for the first time, he was instantly attracted to her, even when he thought she might be a criminal herself. Now Sophie is in danger, and she needs VJC Security’s protection, and Lex will do anything in his power to keep Sophie safe.

“When you come to me again, sweetheart, I’ll take you. You’ll take me. And there will be no going back.”

I really liked Sophie. Most people thought she was just as bad as the criminals she defended, but Sophie knows that sometimes people do bad things because they are pushed too far, so far that they break, and she knows her clients need her to help put them back together. She knows what it’s like to have people look at them like they’re monsters, not knowing what really happened. I really liked that Sophie wasn’t this innocent, frail victim. She is one tough, kick-ass heroine, and she believes in fighting for those that no one believes in.

“You think I’m a gentleman. But, sweetheart, nothing could be further from the truth.” His gaze was on her mouth. “And I sure do excel at dirty.”

I absolutely adored Lex! He is just SO sexy, and so very intense in his feelings and actions towards Sophie.

“I think I need you more than I’ve ever needed anyone, but you need me, too, don’t you?”

No matter how hard Sophie tries to keep her distance from him, he doesn’t relent, and keeps pursuing her, pushing her to her limits, so that he can uncover all her secrets, and know the real Sophie.

“A man could get addicted to a woman like you. Hell, I think I already am. So caught up that I’d be willing to do just about anything to have you again.” Then he shoved away from the desk and from her. “But before I cross that line, you need to be sure. Be sure I’m the man you want, because there will be no going back.”

He wants and needs to Sophie to trust him, to know that he would never hurt her.

“Then let me be very clear. I don’t care what you’ve done, Sophie. I don’t care if you’ve had to attack in order to survive. I will protect you, and no one will ever take you from me.”

Slowly but surely Sophie came to realise that Lex was not so different from her. His past, was just as painful as hers. I just loved how Sophie started to reveal her true self to Lex, started to care for him, and realise what a wonderful man he really was.

She wrapped her arms around him. “I wish I could take away the pain you had.” He was such a good man, at his core. He hadn’t deserved what happened to him.
“Sweetheart, I’d give my soul to take away yours.”

The chemistry between Lex and Sophie was INTENSE and so very sexy.

“I need you to want me so much that the rest of the world can just fuck off because they don’t matter. The lies and the games and the pain…none of it matters because you want me so much.” His hands flew out and slapped down on the desk, caging her. “Because that’s how I want you. I want you so much that I feel like I might just rip apart.”

I loved them as a couple, and how possessive Lex was with Sophie. Not even when his friends, his partners tried to convince him that Sophie was just using him and them, did he distrust Sophie. He believed in her, and no one was going to take her away from him.

“Not just…fucking…” Lex bit out. He kissed her. Deep. Almost angry. “Not with you.”
Her heart seemed to stop. What had he meant by that? “Lex?”
“You are so perfect to me. Perfect for me.”

She was it for him, and he would do anything in his power to keep her safe, and to just keep her.

“I want you forever.” He should be racing out of the house. He wasn’t moving. “I want you at my side for the rest of my life. This isn’t some sudden thing for me. I started falling for you weeks ago. When I first met a tough, smart lawyer in a police station, and, for just a moment, she made me forget my own name.”

This was a fantastic book. The suspense was fast-paced and gripping from the start, and I was even wrong about who I suspected to be the villian.

As always, Cynthia Eden has written another winner. A romantic suspense with just the right amount of thrilling suspense, great supporting characters and a romance that is sexy, intense and wonderful.

He’s no longer just watching…

This is the second novella in the Dark Obsession series.

Sophie Sarantos is a criminal defense attorney with a tough reputation and questionable connections. Someone who knows too many things about her life is stalking her and the police are of no assistance. She’s drawn to dangerous men but doesn’t do relationships. When she needs to, she uses such men once for sex and then there’s no more. She would prefer to avoid obtaining protection especially from the recommended agency that the man she’s been thinking of since he saved her life works at but she is spooked and doesn’t feel safe so she has no options but to seek his assistance.

Lex Jensen is a partner at VJS Protection. Sophie has been on his mind and his fantasies since he saved her life from a previous case. When she walks into his offices to hire their bodyguard services there is no denying he’s taking the case no matter what his partners suspect or think about her shady character. No one will hurt this woman on his watch. But in order to protect her he’s going to have to learn her secrets, including those that she does not want to share. He’ll have to earn her trust, as much as she is willing to give him as well as prove to her that with what is between them once is not enough.

I loved this story, it was better than the first novella. There is much sexiness, action and suspense and a great storyline that kept my attention plus misdirection as to the identity of the villain who was a surprise until near the very end. The chemistry that I remembered from the first novella between this couple did not dwindle with their time apart. Their encounters are electric and you can feel the emotions between them. There is so much to Sophie which we didn’t know about previously, she truly shows the world a façade. She has much depth and her history is tragic. Being in such close quarters with Lex she finds that he is a kindred spirit, he understands her past for his was similar making it harder for her to stay closed off from him. And there are secrets that Sophie has been keeping that were based on wrong assumptions. I did not consider this story a case of instant love; love was the natural progression for these two intense individuals getting to know that special someone under dire circumstances. This was definitely an enjoyable read. I look forward to Dex’s story next.

This is the second book in the Dark Obsession series and fans of a sexy romantic suspense story will not be disappointed. It is quite a short book admittedly but the author packs a lot into it. As we return to the lives of the men who run VJS Protection Inc we catch up with Lex and get to see him all caught up with a very dangerous woman with a shady past that's about to come crashing into her present.
Sophie has kept her secrets buried and her heart with them. Hugely successful in her job but determined to live alone. What she hadn't been prepared for was a stalker to invade her home and threaten her. She hires round the clock security and gets the very tempting and oh so dangerous Lex but what she hadn't expected was just how determined to guard her body he would be. The chemistry is undeniable but Sophie doesn't get involved with anyone and yet Lex pushes all her buttons.
Someone is watching Sophie very closely and is not happy at this latest development though. Just who can she trust? With an obsessed killer on the loose it looks like all of Sophies secrets are about to be revealed but is she as innocent as Lex believes?
Ooh I love this authors stories and her ability to surprise the reader knows no bounds. Expect twists and turns aplenty with red herrings to constantly surprise the reader. If you have read the previous book Watch Me you might recognize the storyline as in many ways it does bare a similarity but this book has an interesting spin as the author investigates the darkly twisted mind of the heroines stalker. As the couple slowly learn to trust each other there's plenty of heated moments. Sophie pulls no punches and is no pushover but Lex has wanted her since he first saw her and if you enjoy strong alpha males in your books then he will be a delight!
One more member of VJS Inc to have his story told and I feel yet again we will have a damsel in distress with a testosterone fuelled hero to save her but you know what? I love this author's work and will be happy to get sucked in all over again.

This is the second book in this series and while its a standalone with no cliffhanger I wish I'd read the previous book 'Watch Me' first since that's where all the main characters were introduced.
Sophie Sarantos wakes to find someone in her bedroom and the someone in question has a knife, she escapes but this sets a whole series of events in motion. On the advice of the police Sophie hires VJS Protection and finds herself instantly attracted to Lex Jensen her new bodyguard and it would appear the attraction is mutual, but Sophie has a bit of a reputation not only is she a hard nosed attorney but she also likes dangerous men but makes sure her heart is never involved.
Sophie is an interesting woman and a bit of an enigma really, lots of people have opinions on her but does anyone really know the woman she is, what she's been through and the effect it's had on her, probably not.
Lex wants Sophie, really wants her and he'll do anything to keep her safe, this is more than just a job to him but Lex has his own secrets and while Sophie may think he's a nice guy he's so much more.
I really enjoyed this book, I liked the characters and the story had a bit of everything, action, suspense, hot sex, hot male and an equally hot, intelligent and strong female, it kept throwing suspects at me and them taking them away and I kept changing my mind about who the baddie was, it certainly kept me guessing for a good part of the book which I liked.
I'll be looking out for the next book as well since it sounds like it could be another good read.

ARC copy from NetGalley in exchange for my honest review.

Read this review on Got Fiction? book blog

In Book 2 of Cynthia Eden's newest Romantic Suspense trilogy Dark Obsession, we see one of the VJS Security partners, Lex as the hero, and Sophie, the attorney he hasn't been able to stop thinking about since the previous book, as the heroine.

Sophie Sarantos is an attorney. A good one. She's also a love 'em and leave 'em type. No attachments, nothing long term. But Lex is playing for keeps.

It's been about a month since they met back in Watch Me, when Sophie was bashed in the head and left for dead. Sophie needs protection and Lex is absolutely willing to be her bodyguard.

These two are smoking hot, and they don't try to deny it. I love that Sophie is still loyal to Ethan, her best friend, and I loved that the killer was not obvious at all, but I didn't feel like it was out of left field, either. I'd love to see Ethan get a story, though. He's been through a lot, and he never seems to get the girl. He deserves a HEA too!

This series is shaping up to be one of my favorites, and I can't wait to see what's next. (hint-we met the heroine in this story, so Dev has his work cut out for him!)

Yum! First off let me reassure readers, I did not read the first book in this series and I was completely able to get into this book with no problem. At no time did I feel lost or out of the loop.
Sophie Sarantos comes across as a hard woman. A defense attorney, she exists in a cut throat world where the strong survive. A difficult and tragic childhood adds to her standoffish manner and her penchant for quick, meaningless hookups.
When she becomes the object of a deadly stalker she is forced to turn to someone who can protect her.
Former soldier Lex Jensen is one of the owners of VJS Protection, Inc. He is more than happy to guard the lovely body of a woman he hasn't been able to get out of his mind since he last saw her. Lex has his own secrets and he is ready to show Sophie how deliciously bad a good guy can be.
If she thinks she can easily throw him aside, she's got another thing coming.
Great characters, steamy heat and a quickly moving and involved plot make this a highly enjoyable read.
Will have to go back to get the first in the series and now I absolutely cannot wait for the next one to be released!

Sophie wakes up with an intruder in her bedroom, but the police doesn´t believe her. Good thing she´s got an in with VJS Protection, and Lex.
Lex isn´t going to let anyone threaten Sophie, and he´s about to let her know just how serious he´s about them both and the flammable feelings they share.
Fast paced read, smutty fluff, action and mystery in a great combo.

Mein Fazit:
