Estudou na Universidade de Pázmány, em Budapeste, e foi ordenado sacerdote em 1912. Sua obra trata de temas como convivência, vocação profissional, esportes, estudos, ami­zade, leituras e muito mais, sempre sob a óti­ca cristã e com bom humor. Especializou-se em escrever para a juven­tude. Seu propósito de atrair jovens para Cristo nasceu na época em que foi capelão do exército austro-húngaro na Primeira Guerra Mundial, quando conheceu a profunda misé­ria moral em que estava a juventude do seu tempo. Tornou-se um conhecido educador, nomeado, em 1924, professor de Pedagogia na Universidade de Pázmány. Em 1916, começou um programa de rádio que se tornou famoso no país. Em 1931, foi escolhido para ser diretor do seminário de Budapeste. Foi sagrado bispo em 1938, mas faleceu pouco depois, em 1939. Em 1943, ini­ciou-se o processo para a sua beatificação. As obras de Toth podem ser aproveitadas por jovens de todos os tempos, pois trata de valores e princípios eternos. Ele procura lidar com os anseios mais profundos do ser huma­no. Por essa razão, podemos afirmar que seus escritos não são indicados exclusivamente para jovens, mas também para pais, pedago­gos e todas as pessoas desejosas de, a qual­quer época da vida, crescer no amor a Deus.

This book and "Christ and the Young Man", by the same author, are both excellent books for any young man(I'd say pre-teen to adult). They are very easy to read, split into 2 page chapters full of practical advice and spiritual admonitions.Even though it's written for boys, I found many things even I could take from reading them. I highly recommend these 2 books!

The Young Man of Character! What a book title in our jaded age. Given that our author was born in 1889, it is perhaps understandable.

Rather than a discourse, lecture, or topical structure, Bishop Toth uses short anecdotes from current events of his time (post WWI), the classical era, Christianity, and everyday common sense across three simple chapters:

Who is the Young Man of Character?
Obstacles to Character Formation
The Means of Forming Character

The book is full of great recommendations, and while I think it is useful for a man of any age to revisit, it is most effective to share with the young (under 20, under 16, even) to be used as an aid in character formation.

Segunda vez que leio esse, e no futuro lerei novamente.

É um livro muito prático, e bem didático. O autor, que é um bispo, explica bem e usa uns exemplos que, por mais que sejam datados, da para entender.
