It's not often Jessie does the single parent troupe or surprise baby or anything regarding children until the epilogues. But when she does? Man, she kills it. It's like your favourite seasonal treat you've been waiting all year round for.
Perhaps it's more meaningful to me right now, having just had my baby girl, but honestly.. Jessie got it perfect.
Zoe is a hard-working single mom just trying to make ends meet for her baby girl, Lainey. Her circumstances are out of her control and less than ideal, but Zoe not for one second begrudged her daughter. She spends every moment with her baby, making sure she's safe but trying to provide in all the ways she can. Zoe's sweet, gentle, and has the patience of a saint. She's resilient, non judgmental, and just gets on with her day despite life never giving her a break.
There is NOTHING like a tattooed baddy that's sweet with a baby to get your ovaries twinkling. Coast is a little rough around the edges with a past that was very unexpected. He's cool, calm, and collected and took everything in his stride. This man cared for a baby, gave a momma a much needed break, and didn't even think twice about it. He is a saint. That is all. oh and sexy as hell.
These two are just so sweet. Both Zoe and Coast had histories that impacted their lives, but they weren't victim to those traumas. They grew through them together. That slow burn was delectable and combined with the genuine heartfelt moments that felt so sweet between Zoe, Coast, and little Lainey. Man, I was SWOONING and sighing in utter satisfaction. They just made me happy.
The side characters are always the gift that keeps giving. the chemistry between them all.. that family dynamic is just everything. A biker compound may not be a conventional place to raise a baby, but that baby got herself a family of fierce protectors and endless love, and zoe got that too plus some much needed support.
I laughed, swooned, sighed, got angry, and ranted a little. I respected that tired momma who was doing her best, and I loved that Coast was man enough to step up before he even realised he did. 6 journey was sweet and full of growth, and the ending was the cherry on top of this sweet pie.
There is never a moment of disappointment from this author.
