"If I had a choice, no one would die, but that was a dream I had long since thrown away. Now I just wanted it to be the right people's blood spilt. Prince Cassimir, the Prince of Anguish, was high up on my list of candidates for the job."
Kaida, leader of The Fires, has set her gaze upon Indelible's crown. Not to take it but to destroy it. Quickly, she finds herself caught in a game with the King's eldest son, Cassimir. A torturer, Spy master, and Future King. A game of spies trying to outfox each other commences, but with the King getting sicker by the day, things get heated. Especially as Cain, the King's younger son with a penchant for cruelty, has his eyes set on the crown too.
Can Kaida find a way to end the family's tyranny whilst still maintaining her humanity, or will she become just another monster of Indelible?
I loved this book so much, the characters have such a journey and you see so much development in their characters snd their battles they have within the book. This is one of few books I actually liked the female lead, she is deep, funny, smart and witty and we love a plus size girly in a fantasy. There is enough tension within two characters to keep you interested. There are dark and tricky themes like sexual assault but done so well by the author I must say. Overall such a good fantasy book with a plot that keeps you wanting more after every chapter for sure, hard book to put down. Highly recommend if you are a fantasy lover who likes acotar, hunger games, divergent and fourth wing vibes.
