Texas Fall
Jack is focusing on building an equine therapy school for children with special needs and works hard along side his normal horse training and breeding program. He and Riley have settled into a softer, quieter, kind of family life, but that doesn't stop them using the barn with the door to the fullest!
But the lull comes before the storm.
Riley and his new assistant travel to Laredo, and across the border into Neuvo Laredo as part of an exploratory team and things very quickly go to hell. Riley is caught in some serious Cartel problems and suddenly everything Jack holds dear is threatened.
Add in Vaughn and Darren's story, revisiting Robbie, Eli, Liam and Marcus, alongside Sean and Eden and the wedding that never was, and this story promises you everything you want from a Texas series book.

sigh, y'all
I don't know what it is about this series that keeps me coming back for more. OK, that's a lie. I know exactly what it is.
It's Riley and Jack.
Seriously, one of my favorite couples. I love their love for each other. No matter what happens to them - and a lot happens - they are always there for each other. They are stuck together like glue, they have each other to fall back on, They are each others' rock... every cliche you can think of is Riley and Jack in a nutshell.
RJ Scott didn't disappoint in this latest chapter of the Drama That is Campbell-Hayes. Did you ever watch the night time soap Dallas? Or Dynasty? Knots Landing perhaps? That's pretty much how this series reads.
I love it. I want more, please.
I can never get enough of Riley and Jack. Or Jack and Riley. Or, as I like to think of them, Jiley.
So... how long do I have to wait for the next book?

this is just flat out a great series, RJ Scott is very good at developing dreamy yet realistic characters, and tales you wish could be true. Texas Fall you draw the read in and is a great read all on it's own, as part of the series it is extraordinary. if you like to believe in the power of love, the hope of human perseverance, and hard work that pays off in the end, then you'll enjoy this story. Oh yea, sexy, hard working, thoughtful, cowboys are kind of great too.

Go ahead...roll your eyes at me. Call me a sap. Tell me I'm a sucker for the happy cowboys. And I'd say...you're right. I am. And I always will be as long as RJ Scott is still writing about Jack and Riley Campbell-Hayes.
Let's just make this easy: if you're looking for a book that challenges, that is the most-original-story-ever, that blows your mind, that rips you apart...this book isn't it. None of the books in this series are. But, if you want a series about a cowboy, his billionaire enemy-to-lover-to-boyfriend-to-husband-to-forever-love...these are it. There's some drama. There's some smexy. There's LOTS of family. And there's a familiarity that I've grown to love.
Now at book 6, Texas Fall is about the ongoing relationship between Jack & Riley...and their 4 kids...and their ranch o' gay cowboys...and their various dramas and adorations. But this book threw in a twist that I wasn't expecting...real danger. Danger both to the physical and danger to their relationship between the two. There's also some real emotion...throughout the book...with Liam's trial, with Riley's dangerous trip to Mexico, with the strain on their relationship, with the introduction of new characters...my heart was all over the place.
But at the center of it all is this YOU'LL-NEVER-BREAK-US love between our MC's. And it gets stronger and stronger with each new book. And there's something really satisfying about taking the journey with them.
So, yeah...I'm gonna keep reading. And I'm gonna be happy about it. And plus...little Max is my favorite and he's just learned how to ride a horse and I HAVE to find out what happens next for him! :)
Recommended, obviously, for fans of the series. The series recommended for people who crave a little cowboy lovin' with a whole bunch of family time, both good and bad, scattered throughout!

I love it when a series just keeps getting better and better and that is what's happening with these books.
'Texas Fall' is the sixth book in this series by the amazing RJ Scott and with each book I fall a little more in love with the characters. This one for me just had it all in the right doses. There was adventure, action love and passion, family, just a touch of everything in the right doses.
My biggest worry was that this might be the closing chapter so before I wrote my review I had to scurry off to the author's website and check and Oh Happy Day!!! There's another book listed under her 'works in progress' I think my heart melted a little with joy. 'Texas Fall' is so fantastic and in some ways if the author had chosen to leave things here I'd be ok with that because everyone is in a good place, but given the choice 'Oh hell yeah! I want more!' and am thrilled to see that there will be.
In 'Texas Fall' Jake nearly looses Riley and when the two men are reunited at one point Jake tells Riley that he was never alone he was surrounded by this big family that loved and cared and was there for him, but he felt like he had nothing because at the heart of it all for him was Riley. I loved Jake all the more for being the type of man who is able to put his feelings out there especially when the person that he loves above all else needs to hear those words. Riley's struggles so hard to come back from what happens to him in Mexico and be the man that his family and most of all Jake need but Jake is there for him unfailingly and in my mind this is what a good relationship should be. Two people working together at everything to create the life they want for themselves and each other.
I think this is one of my favorite things about these books that they actually serve as a reminder that even if you have it all. The money, the career, influence, etc. keeping what matters the most the people you love and who love you takes work it's a conscious and ongoing effort.
I find it hard to believe that the next book could possibly be better than this one but I have faith that Ms Scott will find a way to make that happen and I look forward to reading it.

Woohoo back to its dramatic best
So in this one we have plotting worthy of the best episodes of Dallasty as life catches up with Riley and Jack with potentially lethal consequences.
On the ranch, things have been going steadily along,with only Liam's pending court case against the vile abuser who hurt him when he was just 16, to give anyone cause for concern.
Max is happy in himself, Hayley is developing into a kind and loving, but strong willed teen, and the twins are cutting teeth and starting to toddle about.
But then, with a bang, comes a plot which would have had Alexis Carrington-Colby rubbing her hands together at the drama when Riley and his number two Tom are kidnapped by cartel in Mexico while on a fact finding missing.
It's brilliantly wrapped up within a couple of chapters, no lingering for weeks here, and Jack has Riley back in his arms and dealing with the thought of almost losing his husband.
Not surprisingly, Riley is also struggling and it was great plotting to have Eden's long term lover Sean be the one to finally provide the breakthrough he needed to start dealing with the kidnapping and his actions.
We also get Vaughan back from book five. He moves to the Double D as ranch hand to help out with Jack's plans for the equine school and, thankfully, his lover Darren isn't too far behind him.
I've loved that these books have expanded to bring in the extra couples and that we've continued to get glimpses into their lives and possible futures.
And in this one, Eden finally gets her man as they hold their wedding at the ranch in the company of those who know and love them best.
There's only one book left to go now, although there is a new spin off series I'm very much looking forward to, so I'm happy to leave Jack and Riley on the brink of some more stupendous sex!

I've always had a soft spot for Jack and Riley, and this series. It's pure escapism. I just pick up the book and get lost in the lives of these men and their families.
Texas Fall has a strong story line for Jack and Riley, but also gives glimpses in to the lives of the other people in this extended family. There is drama and the ups and downs of everyday life.
I like that the we see the every day happenings of the family. It's not all perfect and this lends a level of realism to the story. But there are enough dramatic elements to keep the story barreling along.
The other thing that appeals to me, is that these two strong family men, are still sexy as hell!
I had a couple of favourite parts in this story.
Firstly (minor spoiler ahead) I loved the way Max was included in Eden's wedding plan by having a Thomas (the tank engine) themed wedding cake. What a wonderful way to include a little boy who would be too afraid of the chaos of a wedding to be included any other way.
Secondly, the gorgeous and funny romantic lines.

Jack nuzzled Riley's neck with his nose, then pressed a kiss to Riley's skin right at the pulse point in his throat.
Then he said something hat was so Jack, so right, so perfect. "I think we need to fuck like rabbits before we turn into girls."

Pardon my language, but this sh…, sorry, “stuff” could only happen to Jack, Riley, and their gang, and I say “keep it coming!” With the money and power held by Riley and Jack, trouble of epic proportions is bound to arise. What I have always noted since the beginning of the series is that money may have been a corruptor for Riley at first, but with the Campbell influence, Riley finds what he needs to become the man we have all grown to love.
This story also bring new and exciting dimensions to the D, now that Lexie and Connor are home and healthy, and with the introduction of Max, Riley and Jack’s newly adoptive son who happens to have traits of a child on the autistic spectrum. These additions and more feed our need to see the Campbell-Hayes clan grow, learn, and love.
Being the sixth book in the series, Scott has maintained a solid setting for the Texas stories, especially the Double D from beginning to present day. That, and our knowledge of the secondary characters and the locales where the story takes place, is so deeply ingrained in us, the readers, that every time we open a book, it is like coming home.

I've loved Jack and Riley from the very beginning. I would read 1000 more books about them and their family!
I love how Jack and Riley are with each other. I love how they are with their kids. I love how they are with their friends. I just LOVE them (can you tell??).

I have loved this series since the beginning and really enjoy that we get to keep seeing these guys as their lives and family grows. I like that there is little bits of drama/angst here and there, but it is not long and drawn out and makes for a very enjoyable read.

I just love anything Texas that involves the Campbells, the Hayes and their extended family. Let me just get that out of my system!
The Campbell-Hayes family is facing another year and this time it is kind of busy. Not all good busy for there are times when it is hard to be with this family, but overall good. Now what is not good?
Well, Liam has to go to trial and be witness. His feelings of self-doubt and guilt are rising within him and it makes breathing difficult at times. He knows he has to do this, though, so he does do the expected. He does not like it, but he does. Thanks to his wonderful support group, he goes through the trial and comes out the winner for overcoming his fears.
There is Vaughn. He is not in such a good place but at least he has Darren, who is also not in a good place. In this book, we see their struggles first hand and no longer wonder at the whys and the hows. They do the right thing and make sacrifices and come out bigger men in the end.
Then there is Sean. His PTSD is on the mend, but he is far from cured. His sidestepping the wedding date issues in the past has come back to bite him and now is at his wit's end trying to convince Eden to finalize a date. Should he ask permission from Riley and will Riley grant it?
Finally, Riley. Jack has to lengthen and stretch out his patience band for his husband who now needs him more than ever. Riley had gone through a horrible ordeal and now cannot seem to get over his fears and nightmares. He is unaccepting of his weakness and so only worsens his PTSD. This is where Sean's ordeal comes in that guides him to the right direction.
Jack deals and he will continue to deal. He will deal until all ends for his love for his family is boundless. He finds himself the stronger man in this story but he is also the weakest.
As for the rest of the family, Hayley has come to terms and is planning, the twins are causing havoc and Max finds himself one with the horses.
No, not all is good but everything is better. This is the Campbell-Hayes family and it just keeps getting better and better!

*sigh* Another book with Jack, Riley, and the family is just what I needed to top off my Thanksgiving.
In Texas Fall, Jack is in the process of building a Equine Therapy school for special needs children, and Riley is about to travel across the border to Mexico to do some work for his company. The kids are growing and things seem to have settled down a bit. Then Jack leaves with Liam, Marcus, and Robbie to lend his support while Liam finally faces his past. But before Jack can return home, Riley and his new assisstant head down to Neuvo Laredo, where things go horribly wrong and Riley's life is put in danger.
I wish I could give you the exact reasons as to why I love this series so much. But, I can't. I just know each book gets better and better, and Texas Fall is right there at the top of my fave's list.
I love Jack & Riley. I love the kids. I love each memeber of the family, and I love the friends, Jack & Riley have made throughout each book. What I really love is that when the book is complete, I feel good. These stories make me feel good. And that to me is what makes a truly great read.
If you haven't read this series, I recommend that you start from the beginning (The Heart of Texas) and sit back and enjoy the ride that is The Campbell-Hayes family.

Hi guys,
Oggi vorrei parlavi del libro “L'autunno del Texas”, sesto libro della serie Texas di R.J. Scott, edito da Triskell edizioni.
La scuola di ippoterapia che Jack vuole creare inizia a prendere forma e la vita della sua nuova famiglia sembra procedere a gonfie vele.
Ma si sa, a volte la calma preannuncia una tempesta e all'orizzonte nelle vite dei nostri cowboy ci sono dei bei nuvoloni.
Il lavoro di Riley lo mette in pericolo e la paura sembra non finire più.
Come sempre accanto ai nostri ragazzi troviamo i loro amici e la loro famiglia, sempre pronti a tutto, anche a combattere per se stessi e per gli altri.
Guys, eccoci di nuovo a parlare della nostra famiglia di cowboy preferita, i Campbell-Hayes.
Li avevamo lasciati uniti e pronti ad affrontare le difficoltà quotidiane tra pappe, problemi adolescenziali e qualche problema con il giovane Max, il tutto tra mille dubbi e tentennamenti.
Li ritroviamo quando sono diventati una macchina ben oliata; i nostri neo genitori hanno delle incertezze sulle loro scelte genitoriali, ma tutto funziona a meraviglia e col tempo impareranno ciò che devono dall'esperienza.
Peccato che, come sempre, le nostre autrici sono sadiche e ci hanno assestato un brutto colpo, di cui sarà protagonista Riley.
Questa è la parte della storia più movimentata, un cambiamento (soprattutto per Riley che avrà delle ripercussioni), un elemento di pericolo e di suspense che ha dato una piccola, seppur breve, spinta.
Non mancano poi le “interferenze” delle altre coppie, in particolare di Liam e Marcus e Sean e Eden.
Non voglio raccontare nulla su di loro per non togliervi il piacere della lettura, però accennerò qualcosa sul giovane Liam.
Ma prima vorrei parlarvi un po' della serie in generale.
Purtroppo una cosa che noto è che va tutto molto velocemente, senza lasciare spazio alle varie vicende e alle emozioni, ciò non mi permette di entrare in empatia con i personaggi al 100%.
La presenza di tante storie che si svolgono in contemporanea purtroppo non mi soddisfa. Penso, per esempio, che Liam meritasse molto più spazio e non solo i due capitoletti a lui dedicati, nei quali in realtà vediamo tutto sempre dal punto di vista di Jack e non da quello dell'interessato.
Anche la nuova coppia che è stata introdotta, legata alla vicenda di Liam, è stata trattata in maniera un po' superficiale, anche perché di questi personaggi, uno dei due in particolare, si poteva parlare tantissimo.
Capisco il voler lasciare Riley e Jack al centro, ma avendo creato così tante situazioni e storie parallele secondo me non funziona e, anzi, è una nota negativa nella storia perché appiattisce tutto.
La scrittura della Scott rimane pur sempre molto scorrevole e piacevole, senza fronzoli.
Le scene di sesso presenti sono carine, anche se la prima l'ho dovuta rileggere con attenzione perché non avevo ben capito le dinamiche.
I momenti romantici non mancano e le parole "ti amo" vengono usate spesso, anche troppo per i miei gusti. Ripeterlo non lo rende più bello ma svilisce un po' il tutto (ovviamente è un mio problema).
In sintesi, è una lettura leggera, piacevole per trascorrere qualche ora.
Come sempre il mio giudizio è del tutto soggettivo, per cui consiglio il libro, soprattutto ai romantici e a coloro che amano le belle famiglie grandi ed allargate. In questo caso, i Campbell-Hayes fanno al caso vostro.

Ma si sa, a volte la calma preannuncia una tempesta e all'orizzonte nelle vite dei nostri cowboy ci sono dei bei nuvoloni.
Il lavoro di Riley lo mette in pericolo e la paura sembra non finire più.
Come sempre accanto ai nostri ragazzi troviamo i loro amici e la loro famiglia, sempre pronti a tutto, anche a combattere per se stessi e per gli altri.
Guys, eccoci di nuovo a parlare della nostra famiglia di cowboy preferita, i Campbell-Hayes.
Li avevamo lasciati uniti e pronti ad affrontare le difficoltà quotidiane tra pappe, problemi adolescenziali e qualche problema con il giovane Max, il tutto tra mille dubbi e tentennamenti.
Li ritroviamo quando sono diventati una macchina ben oliata; i nostri neo genitori hanno delle incertezze sulle loro scelte genitoriali, ma tutto funziona a meraviglia e col tempo impareranno ciò che devono dall'esperienza.
Peccato che, come sempre, le nostre autrici sono sadiche e ci hanno assestato un brutto colpo, di cui sarà protagonista Riley.
Questa è la parte della storia più movimentata, un cambiamento (soprattutto per Riley che avrà delle ripercussioni), un elemento di pericolo e di suspense che ha dato una piccola, seppur breve, spinta.
Non mancano poi le “interferenze” delle altre coppie, in particolare di Liam e Marcus e Sean e Eden.
Non voglio raccontare nulla su di loro per non togliervi il piacere della lettura, però accennerò qualcosa sul giovane Liam.
Ma prima vorrei parlarvi un po' della serie in generale.
Purtroppo una cosa che noto è che va tutto molto velocemente, senza lasciare spazio alle varie vicende e alle emozioni, ciò non mi permette di entrare in empatia con i personaggi al 100%.
La presenza di tante storie che si svolgono in contemporanea purtroppo non mi soddisfa. Penso, per esempio, che Liam meritasse molto più spazio e non solo i due capitoletti a lui dedicati, nei quali in realtà vediamo tutto sempre dal punto di vista di Jack e non da quello dell'interessato.
Anche la nuova coppia che è stata introdotta, legata alla vicenda di Liam, è stata trattata in maniera un po' superficiale, anche perché di questi personaggi, uno dei due in particolare, si poteva parlare tantissimo.
Capisco il voler lasciare Riley e Jack al centro, ma avendo creato così tante situazioni e storie parallele secondo me non funziona e, anzi, è una nota negativa nella storia perché appiattisce tutto.
La scrittura della Scott rimane pur sempre molto scorrevole e piacevole, senza fronzoli.
Le scene di sesso presenti sono carine, anche se la prima l'ho dovuta rileggere con attenzione perché non avevo ben capito le dinamiche.
I momenti romantici non mancano e le parole "ti amo" vengono usate spesso, anche troppo per i miei gusti. Ripeterlo non lo rende più bello ma svilisce un po' il tutto (ovviamente è un mio problema).
In sintesi, è una lettura leggera, piacevole per trascorrere qualche ora.
Come sempre il mio giudizio è del tutto soggettivo, per cui consiglio il libro, soprattutto ai romantici e a coloro che amano le belle famiglie grandi ed allargate. In questo caso, i Campbell-Hayes fanno al caso vostro.

Another fun and exciting Texas book by RJ Scott – count me in! I thought I’d already read this one, so imagine my surprise, immediately followed by delight, when I discovered I had one more to go before the final volume, ‘Texas Wedding’. Jack and Riley are at their best, their family is growing, and if it weren’t for the dratted need to deal with business – oil for Riley and cowboy stuff for Jack – I am sure these two would have spent the entire book in the barn! Not that I would have minded… much. However, after the opening chapter they return to “real life” with their four kids, various family members, and assorted cowboy couples. Marcus and Liam are back, with Liam having to deal with being a witness in the court case against his abuser, and there is a new couple as well, Darren and Vaughn.
Riley is deep into his oil consulting business, and is so busy he is forced to hire an assistant. He is hoping that will give him more time with Jack and the kids, but he has to travel to Mexico first on a project. When his life is threatened, Jack thinks the world has ended, but even once Riley is back, the problems are far from over. Their relationship is severely tested, and that added a lot of tension to this book. Jack’s focus on the equine therapy school, while a lot of work, provides a welcome and interesting counterpoint to all the heavy emotional issues around Riley.
Eli and Robbie have become a solid couple, and Marcus beautifully supports Liam through the drama of the court case. I loved finding out more about Darren, the abuser’s brother and the man to help Liam run away. He is completely unlike his brother, and becomes a linchpin in making sure justice is done. His partner Vaughn is yet another hot cowboy, and I loved seeing these two come together despite their issues.
What an exciting installment in the Campbell-Hayes saga! It is every bit as entertaining, suspenseful, and hot as previous books, and I enjoyed reading it immensely. Not What I Expected--Just Better
Purchased this when it was published, in early 2015, immediately set aside the others I was reading, and then stopped after the second chapter. Too many characters I could not remember, too many incidents I could not recall, but the sex was hot as usual, so I thought I would let it cool for a while.
Five months later I picked it up again and finished it without taking a deep breath. This is a perfect ending to a series which defies convention and definition. Despite what appears to be a huge hole in the plot (hint, location Mexico), author Scott sews that up pretty solidly by making this a psychological study of both Riley and Jack, actually fooling you along the way to concentrate on one or the other almost to the exclusion of the other. But then, pow!, she brings in another plot twist or character clarification and we are off again.
This book is about family, and how two mid-30s husbands finally get their Daddy mojos going. Most beautifully handled is their relationship with their children, which will bring tears you didn't think you would need with this book, but they are there, just the same--especially with a little guy named Max.
This is the end of the series, one would think, though there are potential spinoffs of other characters, I would suppose. But then, I would never have supposed that RJ Scott would have pulled this entire series off, and she does it with aplomb.

I can’t believe how excited I was to see this title pop up on a coming soon list. I remember the first time I read The Heart of Texas way back when. I think I scoffed so many times it probably sounded like I was coughing up a hair ball, and I rolled my eyes so often it’s surprising I didn’t get dizzy and fall off the couch. I thought it was one of the most overly dramatic, unbelievable tales I had ever read and my freakin’ god, could it be anymore addictive? So here we are, six books later and Riley and Jack are just as madly in love as they were in that first book. But if you’re thinking about starting your Texas series journey here, I’d recommend against it. While it would be possible to read this story as a stand alone and still enjoy it you would also be missing out on so much. By this point in the series there’s an assumption that you’re familiar with the Campbell-Hayes family tree and where all of their friends fit into their lives. So start at the beginning, you’ll thank me for it.

I guess it was supposed to be lovely, heart-warming and exciting . Unfortunately, it was nothing but extremely BORING for me.
It felt like all they were doing was drinking coffee or looking after kids and tbh as much as I like they have a big family it is not what I am looking for in a book. The whole dangerous part here was fast and then there was crying and crying and then lots of sex and HOORAY everything's awesome.
What is more (it might be just me of course) but it really is getting a little bit ridiculous with all this gay guys living at the ranch. It seems like apart from Sean and Eden every single person there is homosexual! and there is more and more ppl.
I am disapointed. Even if there is another book in this series (that used to be one of my favorites) I won't read it :(

Another great installment in this series. I so look forward to catching up with Riley, Jack and their families. This book shows a settled couple trying to do their best for their relationship and children. It feels like the things that affect every day couples as they try to integrate their lives. It was great to catch up with Liam and see some closure for him. We also got some closure with Eden & Sean. I love that the author never has everything be perfect. Riley has some difficulties and Jack has to figure out how to help him. What a lovely story. I can't wait to read more about Jack and Riley and what comes next.

Something was missing in this one for me. I didn't hate it, I just wasn't connected. I think I'm suffering from having such huge gaps between reading the books. Also, it's a bit too settled. Everyone is paired off. Everyone is in love. Everyone is happy. Yada yada yada. There is some minor angst, but it suffers from being so minor. I think Riley goes through something huge and it could've had bigger or more impact.

Oh yes, another great Riley and Jack story.
Whilst this would work as a standalone, to get the full benefit you do need to have come on the journey all the way with Riley and Jack.
Yes, it is a bit of a rosy view but love them and their kids and their extended friends and family. There are some darker times but not too dark and resolved quite quickly, though Riley takes a long time to get to grips with his kidnapping.

I just love this serie. Can´t get enough of Riley and Jack and their family and friends.

Still enjoying this ever-growing Texas family. A few very, VERY tiny issues here and there. I'm reading the series as one long book and should have a review for the series as a whole after completion. Any help deciding which book, first or last, to write a review would be helpful...

“I realized just how much you are part of me. Despite the kids and siblings and friends, at the core of it is you and me.”
Just when you think Riley & Jack have faced it all (forced marriage, family secrets revealed, becoming dads, opening their home helping other gays in Texas, becoming dads again going through surrogate and adoption) they have encounter another hurdle: kidnapping and dealing with the subsequent PTSD.
Although the kidnapping was just a blip in the story, I was a bit stupefied about that. Because of the blurb I thought it would have been more and I still do not know how Riley was freed.
The D is doing great and the guys are slowly getting back to daily life, enjoying and appreciating what they have become “Without you, I wouldn’t have anything.” He was being brutally honest. If anything, this last year, from the car accident to the kidnapping to Hayley and Logan, and Eden and Sean’s wedding, all the things that made his life what it was? Well, that was Riley.

oggi voglio parlarvi di Autunno in Texas, sesto volume della serie “Texas” della scrittrice R.J. Scott. Essendo la continuazione di una saga, vi suggerisco caldamente di leggere gli altri romanzi. L’edizione presenta qualche errore di battitura che mi ha dato un po’ fastidio, ma nel complesso si legge abbastanza bene. La narrazione è fluida ma la trama presenta parecchie falle: non incuriosisce e le scene d’amore non presentano alcuna novità. Sostanzialmente viene voglia di leggerlo solo per una pallida speranza che assomigli al primo libro, unico vero successo, ma dopo le prime cinquanta pagine la speranza viene meno e si procede per inerzia.
La storia prosegue le vicende matrimoniali di Riley e Jack Campbell-Hayes, alle prese con quattro figli, nuovi progetti petroliferi e la nuova scuola di ippoterapia di Jack.
Hayley, la prima figlia, sta oramai crescendo e comincia a pensare sempre di più ai ragazzi, ma per Riley è un vero shock e, anche se rispetta e stima la ragazza, non vuole vederla come una giovane donna, o meglio, non vuole vederla attorniata dai maschi. Max è invece un bambino davvero dolcissimo e i momenti d’amore con i genitori sono veramente piacevoli da leggere.
La situazione idilliaca di questa famiglia precipita grazie a due eventi: il processo dello stupratore di Liam e il rapimento di Riley. In particolare, quest’ultimo è molto veloce e assurdo, ma il trauma dell’uomo metterà a dura prova la pace matrimoniale. Riusciranno i nostri eroi a superare anche questo ostacolo?
Oltre a ciò abbiamo una new entry: Vaughn, cowboy che si mette al servizio di Jack, ovviamente gay (ma questi hanno il magnete “attira gay”?) e in preda a conflitti d’amore con il suo Darren. Darren mollerà la sua vita vuota, i debiti e il fratello violento per stare insieme al suo amato? (Che scelta difficile, accidenti!).
Insomma, tutto il libro presenta un’accozzaglia di situazioni slegate le une dagli altri, come una specie di telenovela pubblicata per capitoli… sinceramente, avrei voluto che ci fossero più azioni, soprattutto in merito al rapimento e magari qualche scena piccante in più. È comunque da leggere, almeno per rivedere i personaggi che abbiamo imparato ad amare come Sandra, Jim, Eden e Sean, Robbie ed Eli, Liam e Marcus.

Life carries on at the Double D ranch and in the Campbell-Hayes household, and we are treated to plenty of glimpses of Max, Hayley and the twins in this instalment.
In fact, there’s a lot going on in this story with many of the various storylines continuing. Plus there’s a touch of the soap opera style drama that featured earlier in the series.
Liam has to build up the courage so he can take the stand in his upcoming court case against his former employer and abuser. It's great that he has the support of Marcus and all the other guys on the ranch.
Jack has his sights set on an equine therapy school and he wants to help the other lads in the abuse case. Vaughan and Darren provide another love interest storyline as they sort out their relationship. Sean and Eden’s relationship also needs a helping hand from Riley and Jack.
Issues at work cause tension and drama for Riley, and subsequently for Jack. Thankfully the danger is resolved swiftly, but the incident once again reminds us how much the guys are in love and can’t even contemplate a future without the other. Jack provides Riley with comfort and support when he returns home.
Jack and Riley remain a favourite couple of mine. It’s good to visit them and see them deal with relationship, family, and other issues. They come out stronger and more in love, if that’s possible, and their characters are more mature and considerate of others.
Sean Crisden narrates this story and series so well. His voice is easy to listen to and his portrayal of each character—male and female—is superb and consistent.

✔ Letto! Finalmente le cose vanno più che bene al ranch. Jack ha portato avanti i suoi progetti in creare una scuola per bambini con difficoltà come il piccolo Max, con l'aiuto dei cavalli e della sua equipe di cowboys.
Loro adesso sembra che hanno raggiunto un equilibrio perfetto in famiglia. I figli crescono felici e anche il lavoro va benissimo. Jack è Riley non desiderano altro della vita, hanno già tutto quello che possono desiderare.
Sembra tutto troppo perfetto vero? Ma sappiamo che in questa saga i drama arrivano sempre. Riley ha dovuto partire per lavoro e vieni rapito da un pericoloso cartel della droga in Messico.
Tutto quello che sono riusciti a creare i due ragazzi, adesso verrà messo in pericolo. L'equilibrio raggiunto sarà messo a dura prova, un Riley traumatizzato e un Jack più forte che mai, per tutta la famiglia.
Una bellissima saga, dov'è la famiglia quel che conta, la sua fragilità, i suoi segreti, la forza e crescita personale di ognuno di loro. Ma principalmente il loro legame che sono riusciti a farlo diventare indissolubile.
Ragazzi, questo senza dubbio è uno dei più belli della saga, ho avuto tanta paura, ho lasciato cadere qualche lacrimuccia per loro. Molto emozionante davvero.

Sembra tutto troppo perfetto vero? Ma sappiamo che in questa saga i drama arrivano sempre. Riley ha dovuto partire per lavoro e vieni rapito da un pericoloso cartel della droga in Messico.
Tutto quello che sono riusciti a creare i due ragazzi, adesso verrà messo in pericolo. L'equilibrio raggiunto sarà messo a dura prova, un Riley traumatizzato e un Jack più forte che mai, per tutta la famiglia.
Una bellissima saga, dov'è la famiglia quel che conta, la sua fragilità, i suoi segreti, la forza e crescita personale di ognuno di loro. Ma principalmente il loro legame che sono riusciti a farlo diventare indissolubile.
Ragazzi, questo senza dubbio è uno dei più belli della saga, ho avuto tanta paura, ho lasciato cadere qualche lacrimuccia per loro. Molto emozionante davvero.

Triggers: Court case about rape, kidnapping, PTSD
I was given this book for an honest review by Wicked Reads.
I highly suggest that you read the previous books in this series, otherwise, you might not understand what's going on or who the characters are.
This book has a lot of moving parts. I really liked that Liam was getting his day in court. Despite the apprehension surrounding this incident, Liam has truly found a place at Double D and while he might not understand what that means or all that it entails yet, he will. While he's dealing with the court case, he has to be away from his boyfriend, but Liam is surrounded by people who love him.
Then, to top off the anxiety from the court case, Riley goes to Mexico with his new employee and the cartel gets ahold of them. This is a high pressure, anxious time in the book. Scott was able to do a very realistic situation and I really appreciated the details. I also really enjoyed how Scott was able to pull in a family member that Riley wasn't all too fond of to help with his situation. I thought that helped the overall family dynamic a lot. What was also realistic about the situation between Jack and Riley is that Jack simply won't give up. This was one of the better installments in the series and it really shows the reader how much love everyone at the Double D ranch has for each other.

I was given this book for an honest review by Wicked Reads.
I highly suggest that you read the previous books in this series, otherwise, you might not understand what's going on or who the characters are.
This book has a lot of moving parts. I really liked that Liam was getting his day in court. Despite the apprehension surrounding this incident, Liam has truly found a place at Double D and while he might not understand what that means or all that it entails yet, he will. While he's dealing with the court case, he has to be away from his boyfriend, but Liam is surrounded by people who love him.
Then, to top off the anxiety from the court case, Riley goes to Mexico with his new employee and the cartel gets ahold of them. This is a high pressure, anxious time in the book. Scott was able to do a very realistic situation and I really appreciated the details. I also really enjoyed how Scott was able to pull in a family member that Riley wasn't all too fond of to help with his situation. I thought that helped the overall family dynamic a lot. What was also realistic about the situation between Jack and Riley is that Jack simply won't give up. He loves Riley with everything he has and rather than shy away from emotion, Jack lays it all out there.
