"Roy, I need to be sure there’s not going to be any Kevin Costner, crushing-on-the-client nonsense from you. Because I’m pretty irresistible.”
World famous rockstar Dorian “DJ” James is a wiseass. He’s also stubborn, willful, talented—and a submissive.
While falling for his client is a dangerous conflict of interest, experienced bodyguard Roy Bloodwell realizes it will take an all-in, committed Master to keep this kid safe. Especially when a tragedy tears DJ’s world apart, and a nameless fan decides DJ is meant to be his.
Screw conflict of interest. Roy has a message for that fan, and anyone else who threatens DJ.
A submissive herself, Hill brings authenticity to her intensely emotional BDSM love stories. With over fifty titles and seven series, her contemporary and paranormal romances feature everything from billionaires, bikers, SEALs, firefighters, cops and housemaids, to vampires, mermaids, witches and angels.
"Joey translates the world of BDSM with such intense power and exquisite beauty. LOVE is the most powerful element entwined through the Dominance and submission.” –Goodreads, Pink Lady

When your favourite stellar writer writes a book about a songwriter, there's stunning art.
And heartbreaking plottwists. A first for me to scream 'No, no you didn't!!' while almost throwing my ereader to the wall.
All the while there's so much support from the whole damn Joey's world… A world you desperately want to be part of. And yes, I know it's fiction. In this world I just wish it would be a bit more real.
I hated when I had to put the book away, to eat and sleep and the works. You write like I'm standing next to them, next to DJ, to Roy, just see all thing happen, see the emotions and feeling them in my soul.
Thank you for another break from this world.
Oh, and thank you so much for the teeth-brushing lines. You just don't kiss that much unbrushed mouths like almost all the books.
I recieved an advance read copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
The push and pull from the get-go was engaging. Roy establishing ground rules despite his desire to fold … the care, comfort and support Roy was able to offer DJ. And then … the loss. Being witness to the evolution of their relationship was profound.
The wit and humor peppered throughout kept the story from spiraling the reader in DJ’s heartache. I wished on more than one occasion for DJ and Roy to be real but settled for witnessing their love story through the stellar writing of Joey Hill.
DJ is by far my favourite male sub. A dependable musician who went above and beyond for his found family. Roy isn’t too shabby either - all those protective Dom vibes. But he was a jerk in the beginning and toward the end. He kept saying ‘no’ to DJ. Gasp!
I loved him in the middle, though, and he redeemed himself on the last page.
I will shout from wherever that I FUCKING LOVED THIS!!!! I'd give it ALL the stars - infinity stars! This was my first from this author. She did such an amazing job at building up every little part to where it all mattered and culminated in the final outcome. The highs and lows, the laughter, and the utter heartbreak - just gutted me. Everything was written with such detail and so much emotion that you could picture yourself there. All aspects of this story were phenomenal, and I really enjoyed being able to witness the entire story of DJ and Roy. Both hard-headed and both knowing what they want, at times a little stubborn but, ultimately, they each got what they both wanted from the beginning.
I received an ARC from Book Sirens for my honest review.
Tragedy always brings trauma. The question becomes how you deal with it or if you even do. What begins as an instant mutual attraction becomes much more when an unexpected horrific tragedy happens that changes everything. As these two work through the trauma, the question becomes - is their deepening relationship an affair of the heart or is a tool to deal with life after a horrible catastrophe?
My number one recommendation, if you are one who gets totally immersed in a book to grab your box of tissues. You will probably need it. This is an extremely emotional book. Very well written.
This book will go to the top of my favorite Joey W. Hill books. I think that it is one of the best stories she has written so far and that is the highest praise I can give. Because she has written some wonderful, passionate and loving stories over the years. It was full of all the things I love in a story. The ups and downs of a budding relationship. The torment of loss of a loved one or in this case three loved ones. A Dom that is both strict and loving.
Roy will go to the top of my all time favorite Doms. He is tough and caring and he handles DJ with the right combination of strictness and loving care. DJ is an orphan that was raised by a loving caregiver. He met his bandmates in that loving home. So they are tighter than most bands. They have come up from nothing to fame and all the things that can be both the good and the bad. Rory is an ex-Marine that has become a body guard for the rich and famous. I loved how Roy handled the grief that DJ is going through. I love how Ms. Hill builds that relationship between the two men. Ms. Hill brings all the childhood anguish that DJ and the others have gone through out the story. She adds the loss of the young men he considers his brothers into the overall story. Showing the grief and the loneliness that DJ learns to handle and find an outlet for it in his music. She offsets that loss with a man that will love DJ and bring out the submissive that DJ is.
Roy is ex-military. He is a strong passionate Dom that finds a sub that he can call his own if he can keep him alive and on the right track. Roy has also been hurt in the past and is cautious about falling for DJ. It is not an easy job because DJ is devastated by the death of his brothers. All of this is complicated by a stalker that is threatening DJ with harm.
There are lots of ups and downs on the road to recovery from the death of his brothers and the damage that the stalker does and still finding that love can heal wounds that have been open and bleeding for too long.
I loved this story so much. Ms. Hill never disappoints with any story she writes however she out did herself with this one. I laughed and cried and yell at that bad guy and cheered with the final chapter. I will have to read it again just because things got a little lost with the Christmas holidays.
Really superb writing! DJ is a young, wildly popular rock star who fills stadiums along with his bandmates who are like family to him. Still, he is missing something. He knows he has submissive tendencies, but it's been difficult to find a safe outlet to explore his desires. Now, he has a stalker who seems to be escalating. It's time to call in special security to address his protections.
Roy is very good at his job and he specializes in guarding high profile clients in dangerous situations. Along with his small team, he is devoted to keeping DJ safe. When the two men meet, there is an immediate attraction that transcends physicality. Roy is an experienced dominant and both men are pinging off of the other's nature.
The author takes us on a complex, rich journey that plumbs the depths of human emotions, including grief, compassion, healing, devotion, and love. I enjoyed some cameo appearances from a few characters in other books. The knowledge of BDSM and music add much extra color. Highly recommended!
Naughty dreams is an emotional roller-coaster of the best kind. Joey Hill know how to plumb the depths of desire, despair, grief, healing and love. You'll go from teary eyes to outright weeping. You'll cheer Roy and DJ's triumphs and your hearstrings will be gently tugged or in some cases yanked on as these two move through their relationship. I truly loved DJ James. He is a world famous rockstar but is not a typical one. The music never stops flowing from his brain. He's caring, protective of his "brothers/bandmates," generous and fairly low key except on stage. Then he's explosive, driven and charismatic. Roy Bloodwell is a man who's willing to put his life on the line for his clients. First and foremost he's a protector but he's a planner, negotiator and as loyal as they come. His teams are the best of the best. DJ wants to explore the "lifestyle" and Roy is just the Dom to introduce him to it. Naughty Dreams, simply put, is extraordinary! Brava, Ms Hill!!
That was my reaction after finishing Naughty Dreams. This is one of those rare, raw MM romances that doesn’t just tell a story—it drags you through it emotionally and leaves you changed on the other side. Joey W. Hill places the reader deep inside grief for a significant portion of the book, and it’s not easy, comfortable, or rushed. The pain is earned, lived, and brutally honest. I hated the author for putting me through it—and loved her for the exact same reason.
The portrayal of group dynamics and the realities of show business felt grounded and painfully real. What truly stood out was the BDSM Master/sub dynamic during the grieving process. It wasn’t sensationalized; it was tender, stabilizing, and deeply necessary. Watching Roy support DJ through loss was profoundly moving.
This is a book that stays with you. One I’d proudly want in hardcover on my shelf. Absolutely worth the time and emotional investment.
In this day and age of so many mediocre books being churned out like fast fashion and overhyped by the social media machinery this book was a breath of fresh air. I’m a long time reader of Joey’s and she never disappoints. If you are looking for a book that is not only hot AF but will also put your through the wringer emotionally then look no further. The chemistry between them grips you from page one, but as the story progresses your emotions are hijacked and replaced by DJ and Roy’s. ***ARC provided in exchange of an honest review. And FYI in case you’re wondering if this influenced me somehow, I’m a hardass with my reviews regardless of how I got the book, I don’t give out 5 star easily.
Naughty Dreams is a MM romance, a D/s journey of discovery and a psychological thriller all in one. It tore at my heartstrings, left me reeling and put me through an emotional wringer. I expected the suspense, the tension and lots of spicy sexy times from the blurb. And they are all there. But I was not expecting the dreams to become such nightmares and for DJ and Roy's road to a HEA to lead them through so much heartache. So be prepared for this rollercoaster. It's intense, but as always ultimately uplifting and a very rewarding, highly recommended read. I was fortunate to have received an early copy and am leaving this review voluntarily and honestly.
Naughty Dreams by Joey W. Hill is an emotional journey that takes place in the maelstrom of the rock and roll world of ego and artistry. DJ may be the leader of Survivor but only because it allows him to take care of his “family”. When his life is threatened, he hires Roy Bloodwell an experienced bodyguard and a total dominant. The chemistry between the two is instant and off the charts. This book tore my heart into little pieces and rebuilt it happier for Roy and Dory. Another winner by Joey W. Hill
This book was both more deep and more sad than I was expecting, especially from the title and blurb. Not that that’s a bad thing, but I did have to stop reading a few times to use some tissues and compose myself because my emotions were high. I did really like the use of D/s to get through bad things and process. I can’t believe I’m saying this because I usually want books to be longer, but I did feel like it dragged some times and could have been edited down.
Joey W. Hill is on my shit list until further notice. Because how could she?????? I was in tears, it affected me badly for daysss. I can't even review this book properly and I will definitely be skipping during re-reads. How dare she? 😭😭😭
I wish I could review this properly but I don't have it in me. I can only say that I adored DJ, Roy can be an idiot sometimes but he's DJ's idiot and I love them.
Joey W. Hill is one of my top favourite authors and I'd recommend her stories to anyone who loves strong characters. Naughty Dreams is one such book, and the dynamic between Roy and DJ is off the charts. The story is enthralling, covering the rock world and the BDSM world very well. Joey's handling of all aspects of the story is wonderful (as expected) and I look forward to her next book
I didn t like this very much. IT was hard for me to get into it and i found IT even herder to finish. IT was just not for me but If You are looking for an emotional roller-coaster that gets you teary eyes, than You will live IT. Maybe If i try IT again in a bettrr mind frane, i will live IT, becouse IT has the potential.
I liked that we got to witness to the evolution of their relationship.
Joey W Hill’s books always tap into emotions. The characters are so well drawn that they pull you into their stories. The intimate interactions were sexy . I ran the gamut of emotions in this story. DJ and Roy made me want their HEA. Seeing other characters from beloved stories made it even better. This was so very good.
I was so in love with DJ (Dorian James) and Roy Bloodwell! This story was exciting and beautiful. There was pain, loss and connection. I could not put it down excited for what was going to happen next! A must read, you will love it! Joey W. Hill is my favorite Author. I get excited when I know a new book is coming out.
Bold, intense, and emotionally charged, this romance delivers sharp wit, high stakes, and undeniable chemistry. DJ’s vulnerability and Roy’s fiercely protective presence create a powerful dynamic that balances danger, devotion, and desire. A gripping read for fans of edgy romance with heart, heat, and unforgettable characters.
Another beautifully written, heartfelt story and unforgettable characters all combined in Joey W Hill's empathetic and compassionate style. DJ and Roy are magnetic. They jump off the page and grab your heart. DJ is one of the most compassionately written characters I have read, and I fell in love with him completely for his beautiful, sensitive soul. And Roy. The perfect balance of emotional control and clear sighted devotion to his sub and to his chosen role in life. I was thrilled to spend time with over beloved characters, and my heart flipped when Tyler strolled onto the page! This just added deeper connections in this book, connections which, I feel, would become even more important in the future There are aspects of this book that broke my heart. The band's past just being one. It has cemented unbreakable bonds that stretch further than their shared love of music. They are brothers in every sense of the word. This has been a wonderful read cementing this author's place in my little corner of the world. 💖💖💖💖💖++
Five amazing stars!! Likeable characters and a detailed storyline made for an awesome read. Couldn’t put it down. Just the right amount of drama and suspense. Plot twists were exciting and kept my unteredy stayed up all night to finish this in one sitting.
This was a deeply compelling and emotional read. It was beautiful and brutal at the same time. I loved the dynamic between Roy and DJ - they are such amazing characters you want only the best for them.
A beautifully written dynamic story. I loved ever word.
Raw, amazing, and psychologically dynamic. My emotions were pulled in so many directions (in a good way). Taking one to depths mentally I didn't think possible.
Fantastically well done!
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
