the protag's parents are way too calm when they mistakenly think their daughter is dating a grown ass man lmao like y'all should be beating his ass why are you having a civil discussion about it

this was funny though and I'm relieved to know that (spoiler) never actually happens lol

The first volume of Kigurumi Guardians was a bit of a surprise for me, I wasn't sure what to expect going in. I was expecting something a little bit ridiculous but fun....I wasn't expecting to end up loving this series so much after just one volume that I impatiently waited for all of the other volumes to be published! It became an instant favourite which rarely happens with me. I've been anticipating this volume so much and I got so happy to finally have it in my hands and read it!

I've got to say, there's something about Ginger in penguin form holding up a sign saying "wtf are you doing?" after Hakka tries to fight him that had me cackling so hard. I think it was the cute little Kigurumi penguin cursing that did it.

Unfortunately for Hakka she gets caught with a human Ginger moments after a repart...so she has to pretend he's her boyfriend. I mean.....unfortunate for her, but not for me. My shipper heart was quite happy with this development and I was living for it throughout this volume. I so badly want the two of them to end up together, it's not even funny. There was a lot this volume that fed my shipper heart, I'm not going to lie.

Nobara and Basilico helping them out was freaking hilarious, and it was really nice to get to know Nobara more in this volume. To see what's under the mask she wears and what her life is like. There's an interesting tidbit about the President (Chigaya) thrown in to, which has me all kinds of curious and provides an interesting mystery and potential plot element.

I feel like our three Guardians, Hakka, Nobara and Satsuki, all really bond and become a lot closer to each other in this volume. They're helping each other out, boosting each other up, and defending each other. They're being there for each other, and they're going to become quite the team and I'm enjoying watching them bond and get closer and start to come together as a team.

The fast pace continues as we deal with a couple of different situations and scenarios in this volume, ending with a brand new upcoming battle...and some bitchy girls no doubt out to cause trouble. So we'll have the usual Guardian trouble...and some good old fashioned school drama too by the looks of it! The art is once again, very well done. Cute when it needs to be, and gorgeous at other points! Genuinely, this series is such a lot of fun, even when it's being a little bit ridiculous! The characters are relatable and easy to cheer on, and it's heartwarming watching them working towards becoming a team! Each Guardian has an interesting relationship with their Kigurumi too, and I'm intrigued to see more of the differences between them all!

+1 Star: She stole his phone and decorated it. Such brat power is blinding.
+1 Star: The idol wasn't the villain after all.
+1 Star: The brother made her go on a date with her older boyfriend so he could spy on here and he told her this is what he was going to do only for him to not be able to spy on her. Great inversion of the usual 'watching the date' trope.
+1 star: Keeping the mystery going with the President in a puppet thing.
-1 Star: NO MEANS NO. 24 year old pinning 14 year old to wall still gross and weird.

Another phenomenal volume! I love how personable Hakka is and how easily she can make friends with her cheerful, empathetic personality. The artwork was stunning, as usual, and the photo shoot really got to shine in that regard. I like the different relationships the Guardians have with the Kigurumi, it's fun to see them all interact. Also, I'm super interested in the President's backstory! So curious for volume 3 has in store!

12th manga read for my 30 mangas in 30 days challenge

In Volume 2 of Kigurumi Guardians by Lily Hoshino, the story continues with the guardians going about their day-to-day lives. We see concern from Hakka's family about her relationship with Ginger when Hakka's brother walks in on her and Ginger shortly after she has reparted him. I loved that we also got to see more of the other guardians in this volume. While it still was primarily focused on Hakka, it was refreshing to learn more about the other members.

tropes: age gap, kiss-based powers, saving the world, stolen kiss(es), school life

Look I’m gonna get it out of the way there is weird pinning between a 24 and 14 year which normally would gross me out so much. But this series continues to be zany and wacky and oh so funny. I like all the characters. My fav part was her decorating his phone. I just loved it. I hope we learn more about the leader in our next and last volume.

Enjoyed getting to know Satsuki and Nobara more in this volume. There were some really funny moments especially in the choir parts. The plot remains very mysterious, but I'm OK with that.

This one was a bit more interesting than the last. The plot thickens! More Nobara and Basilico, please! They are my favorites out of this series.

Me encanta. Simplemente. Me recuerda entre Sailor moon y Madoka mágica pero con ese toque más subidito y romántico xD

This really is such a cute series so far! I struggle with the fact that they’re 13/14 years old and their companions are 23/24. But I still ship it, so 🤷🏻‍♀️
