Daws is a Devil Crusader, born and raised a bad boy. He’s sick of superficial, meaningless relationships. Fate throws him a curveball when Aubrey begins working for his dad’s motorcycle shop.
Aubrey is damaged and scarred.
She’s running from a past that has the ability to destroy her. It’s not just herself that she needs to protect. She’s fighting to save her sister. She needs to keep the monster away and she’ll do everything in her power to keep her sister safe.
She wasn’t expecting to meet Daws, the man who would change their lives. Dangerous, strong and completely hers, her heart never had a chance.
Is Daws capable of protecting her from the monster who haunts her? The monster who will stop at nothing to get to her? He wants her back, that much is clear.
She just hopes that when the time comes, she’s strong enough to save them all….
Please Note: This is the second book in the Wrecked series. It can be read as a stand alone and it is not necessary to have read Wreck You, however reading Wreck You first may give you some background to Daws. This book is intended for mature audiences as it has graphic scenes involving sex and child abuse. The use of the F bomb is frequently thrown around so if that offends you, I wouldn't recommend reading this.
Abby McCarthy is an Ohio author. She is the author of over ten novels ranging from contemporary romance, motorcycle club romances, and Paranormal romance. She is a mother of three, a wife and a dog person. When she is not managing a full household or writing, she enjoys being on the water, in a park, or with friends.
**re-read** A-FREAKING-MAZING, and my review is done (drop the mic and walk off the stage). I could tell you that I couldn't put this book down, I could tell you that I kept trying to read faster and faster and internally I was thinking gah read faster whats going to happen, because I was so excited and loving reading this book so much. Or that I think Daw's was a phenomenal hero who was possessive and demanding and yet so very patient and loving. And that The heroine blew me away with how strong, brave and loving she was. Then there was the amazing story that drew me in and just kept unfolding the longer the story progessed with not only some of my favorite main characters but side characters that made this book all the better and left me hoping for many more books in this series.
Fleeing an unimaginable childhood Aubrey makes a promise to her foster sister Ari that she will come back and keep her safe from the monster who raised them. After several months on the run Aubrey finally found people who care about her and showed her kindness she never knew, now that she has Ari back she plans to start a new life posing as Ari's mom. moving in with new friends Aubrey and Ari start a new life but after everything Aubrey has been through she knows she will never be able to fully trust again. Needing a job so that she can save for when they have to flee again Aubrey lands a job at a local MC's shop and see's Daw's. Immediately she feels something she never has, attraction.
Daw's gets everything he wants and if need be he takes but after the situation with his best friend who left after not sharing his feelings Daw's starts to want more. When he see's Aubrey something clicks and Daw's knows he wants her. The longer he see's Aubrey the more his feelings grow but Daw's can tell that Aubrey has been through something horrible and is willing to wait and get to know her before he claims her. Trying to find ways to pull Aubrey out of her shell Daw's begins to fall in love and for the first time in his life know what love is. Soon Aubrey can't deny Daw's or her feelings that are growing for him, but the scars from her past make her unsure.
As Aubrey finally takes a leap and trusts Daw's she finds freedom in not only loving him but opening up about her past and soon she is happier than she ever has been possible. As Aubrey and Daw's get to know each other better Daw's starts to wonder if his life in the MC is good enough for Aubrey or if he is. When Daw's is put in a dangerous situation Aubrey finds out her past is catching up and she has to decide if it's time to run again, but soon the truth and a connection between Aubrey's past and her future may put everyone in danger and it's time for Aubrey to make a decision.
There is so much I could say about this book. I think the author is an amazing storyteller, she drew me in and left me needing more and more. My emotions ran all the gambit of tears and excitement while reading this book. Yes this book has a very dark story and it broke my heart but this author handled it so well while telling this story, and at the end of this book she mentioned how this story line affected her family and tells people who have been in this kind of situation how they can seek help (bravo Ms. McCarthy). I wish I could tell you how amazing this book is but their are no words to tell you how awesome this book is how it effected me. I couldn't sleep after I finished this book because my brain refused to shut down. I wish I wasn't finished with this book because I feel like the next book will never be able to compare.
Though it is only January I can easily say this is the best book I have read this year (and I have read some of my all time favorite authors this year).I could go on and on and on at how stunning this book was and how astonishing this author is, but I just want everyone to take a leap and read this book. I can't wait for the next book in this series and to see more from this author she is someone to keep your eye on plain and simple. This book right here is why I love ebooks, without these devises we may have never gotten the chance to read so many amazing books and this one in perticular. As I read I delete books on my kindle and each year when I get a new kindle there are a select few who get transferred from my old to my new, this book will be coming with me with each new kindle and I will be re-reading this book.
At the begging of this review I said A-FREAKING-MAZING, and I stand by that if that was all I said it would have been enough. This book isn't just a romance, which it is that, a beautiful romance but it's also the love of family and how sometimes you aren't born into a family but that love can create a family. Now go buy this book and read it so I can be jealous of you that you have such an amazing book to read for the first time.
*I didn't even know this was book 2 in a series but I never felt like I was missing something when reading this book or confused. Also related to the content of this book some may have a hard time reading what happened to the heroine pertaining to physical and sexual abuse when she is a child by her foster parent but I think the author handles it very delicately and I encourage everyone who buys this book to read the authors notes at the end of this book.
2.5 stars. This story started off really rough for me, even out and then got boring. It probably went from 1 star to 3 and back down to 2. I could handle her terrible childhood (it was horrific and not for anyone who cannot hear about a child being tortured. It was not too explicit but she does describe some disturbing things ).
I know this is a standalone, but I felt like I missed a lot of the background on the characters by not reading rhe first book. But from what I can tell, that one is not safe and I may have really hated the Hero if I read it.
However, I still really disliked the Hero in the beginning based on scenes I will spoiler. But the Hero ended up being very good to the Heroine. Patient and kind. He did not rush her into sex and the book was not all about them having sex. It certainly included it but it was not every other scene. Which I liked. However, daily life was boring and it skipped several months because of that. The MC was something he wanted to keep her away from, he was disgusted by it, so it did not play a big role in the book so I would hesitate to classify this as a biker book.
The outside drama/action picked back up towards the end. There was a lot going on, but I found little of it interesting. Things happened that I found totally out of character and unbelievable. But hey that is storytelling. Then everything wrapped up too easily and neatly. I found myself at 70% not caring anymore and I only finished because I really hate to DNF a book.
Aside from the beginning of the book, very little made me uncomfortable. Of course there were some club sluts that had to come out to make a play a couple of times, but Daws shut them all down immediately.
Overall Daws (worst name ever) was very sweet to Aubrey. He was solid from the moment he met her.
Fight You is book 2 in a series but can be read as a stand-alone. Book 1 Wreck You will give you more insight to the character Daws, but isn't necessary to read to understand him.
This story was well written with characters you easily loved. Daws is a tough nut to crack but once Aubrey stepped into the scene, woah! Watch out steamy chemistry!
Aubrey is running from a past that could easily be the worst thing a person could go through. She disguises herself and her "daughter" so the evil from her past can't find her. Daws breaks down her defenses and she lets him in a little. They start a relationship and things heat up quickly.
What happens when Aubrey's past threatens her future? She does her damnedest to make sure it doesn't collide at all cost. Even if that cost is her life, but she has to try for Daws sake. Once the truth comes out about her past she realizes that she has made a family that will forever protect her!
I'm very impressed with Abby's writing. Her debut novel was impressive and she kept the momentum going with Fight You. I can't wait to watch her career grow from here!
4.5 stars! Wow! I was hooked immediately. Abby was able to give justice to a delicate topic without having it overshadow the entire story. Well done. I loved the character development. I loved, loved. loved Daws in this book. I wasn't sure about him in Wreck You but she converted me. This book also allowed us to spend more time with the MC. I look forward to getting the know them. All I kept thinking was poor Skaggs! Lol! I'm also curious about Carlo and the rest of his family. Can't wait to see what else she has in store for us! There was lots of emotion and enough steam to fog up the windows in your house. ;) My only tiny hitch is that I think things between Aubrey and Daws went a little too fast and I wanted to it stretch a little more but at the same time I loved the two of them together. Either way, worth the read!
OMG.....this story was beyond amazing for me! Now, the first book in this series, I read quite some time ago and if I am being honest it was just ok. Daws was a character in the first book that I honestly was conflicted about so with that being said I held off on reading his story and I have too say that I am glad that I did. If I had read it immediately after the first book, I may not have given it the full attention that it so deserved. So, I had a lot of time in between the first book and this book and can I say that this book was above and beyond what I expected.....it was PERFECT, it was BEAUTIFUL, it was HEARTBREAKING and yet it was so FULL of so much LOVE, Patience, Understanding, Compassion, yeah, you get where I am coming from, lololol!!!!
I loved, adored, cherished, worshipped BOTH Daws and Aubrey!!!!!! These 2 characters were everything and more that I love and look for in my book leads and I can't begin to describe how much I connected with and invested in both of these characters.
Their story played out perfectly, it was flawless, seamless, it was one of the most beautiful slow-build-ups of a relationship and I hung on every word, every sentence, I felt ALL of their emotions. I couldn't have asked for more of my lead H and h, they were THAT spectacular for me!!!!!
Aubrey's backstory is brutal, I mean my heart hurt so much for this amazing strong girl. She was just.....arghhhhh, total girl-crush for her!!!!!! Daws.......oh my, he was PERFECT in every way and on every level. There was NOTHING I would have changed about either one of them throughout this story.
The writing was fantastic, the characters including the secondary characters were spot-on perfect!!!!!!!
Congrats Author Abby McCarthy, this story was nothing short of a GRAND SLAM!!!!!!!!!!! I could go on and on about this book:) READ it of you like breathtakingly beautiful H and h's, action packed, suspense, a terrific storyline about seriously sensitive issues and yet handled with such class and compassion, etc........
I almost hated Daws after the last book. I was so glad about his changes in this book, I fell in love with him. This book was amazing. I love this author now. I am starting the last book immediately!!
I loved how Aubrey was such a strong young lady, and did everything she could have done, and did for Ari. I think that alone was a very brave move. There is no telling where they would be if she didn't have the courage that she did, and got away from that monster. What a piece of crap he was. Gosh, I so wanted to read horrible things being done to him, just for payback.
Dawson, are like Aub says, Daws. He is just amazing. Strong, powerful, handsome, and intimidating from the outside; yet, loving, caring, understanding, smart, quick, and giving on the inside. I loved him, hands down.
Together they were perfect. I wish the book never ended. I could read about them and their life forever. I enjoyed the story, the way it all played out, and of course the way it ended.
I do have a feeling that the next book will be about Ari and Gino, all grown up. And hopefully more about Daws and Aub. I would love to hear more on them two.
Looking forward to the end of this series, anxious to see how it all plays out. Although I am sure, it will be just as great as the beginning of the series.
Daws is used to taking what he wants, but it is getting old. When Aubrey begins working at the shop owned by the Devil Crusader's, Daws feels something he has never felt before. Aubrey is on the run and has a slew of secrets she does not want revealed. She feels safe with Daws but does not feel she can be what he wants, she is scarred, broken, and dirty in her mind. Daws though sees a strong woman who is coming out of her shell, he knows she has secrets and he could care less. He plans to protect her, love her, and never let her go.
Overall great story, but it had problems. There are a few things in the book that I just thought were ridiculous. If you can overlook the main age thing with Aubrey pretending to be older, you will enjoy the story. I thought the book had a lot of great parts, particularly Daws and the way he handles Aubrey. Definitely leads to more book in the series that have me curious.
I received this for an honest review... OMG.. I received this on my kindle and thought I would read a couple of chapters and then move on with my day oh no that was not possible. Once I started this story I was hooked. I loved that this is an absolute standalone. If you haven't read Wreck You which is the first in this series its OK (although I highly recommend that one because I LOVE IT). There are parts of this book that absolutely tore me apart and parts that were so absolutely perfect. There were times I wanted to reach out to Abby (The Author) and scream why are you doing this to me. This book has all those wonderful elements that we love in books.. Love (Check) Angst (Check) Sexy Biker boys (DOUBLE CHECK) and a freaking amazing love story (CHECK CHECK CHECK). This book absolutely captured me and kept me on the edge.... Abby my girl YOU ROCK!!!!!!!
Aubrey leaves her abusive foster home and returns 18 months later to save her 10 year old foster sister. Together, they move to a small town in Pennsylvania, pretending to be mother-daughter. Desperate to provide for Ari and keep them both safe and hidden from their foster dad, Aubrey takes a job in an office of a motorcycle club’s mechanic shop. Daws is instantly attracted to Aubrey and takes his time getting to know her and gain her trust. Aubrey fights her feelings for Daws to protect herself if she has to run, and to protect Daws from her vile foster dad. Daws is caring and consistent and you can’t help but fall for him.
Oh my GOD I loved this book. I loved Daws and the patience he had with Aubrey. He was sensitive to her anxiety attacks, protective, and maybe a bit territorial (which didn’t bother me in the least! He can own me any day!) most of all, I appreciated Daws’ unconditional love he gave to Aubrey. I greatly appreciated how there were no loose ends left at the end of the book. The solutions for conflicts in the book weren’t skimmed over in just a sentence. We actually got scenes explaining or showing how things played out. The only thing I wasn’t sure about was I didn’t exactly see it being so easy for Aubrey to enjoy anal play after everything that had happened with her foster dad.
Favorite quotes: ”I think people are funny like that, they show the world how they want to be treated and I guess if I could be any type of man around you, I want to be the type to not show you ugly if I don’t have to. Something tells me, sweet girl, that you’ve seen ugly, and if I can save you from any more, I’m going to.” - Daws pg 47
“You are a mosaic of beautifully broken pieces put together. Don’t you fucking get that? When I see you, I don’t see whatever it is that’s happened to you. I see a survivor, a protector, and a fighter. You got a battle to be fought, I’m fighting it with you. No more running from this. No more fighting me.” -Daws pg 83
“You’re not leaving, did you not hear me before? I said I love you. I’m not letting you go. You’re not going to run.” -Daws pg 99
I just finished Fight You and I enjoyed it. Its a biker book so I'm gonna give it a try! This is apart of a series but can be read as a stand alone. This story is about Daws and Aubrey. Aubrey is on the run from a very bad man. After being saved, she is able to get Ari, her foster sister, and run to where she might feel safe. She stays with a nice family but needs to be able to help make ends meet. She ends up working at the auto shop where Daws works. He's apart of the Devil's Crusader and hes done with the unfullfillment he feels with all the women he sleeps with. When he meets Aubrey this changes for him, he knows that she is special and can see she is lost and has secrets. He helps her cope and tries to get her to trust him. She is the one for him. But what happens with the bad man finds her? Will she run again or stay and fight for love? You will have to read and see.
I enjoyed the story. I liked the plot, who doesnt love a story about a vulnerable girl getting with a bad boy biker?!! I liked the characters but I felt like there was alot of characters, now grant it at the end I was able to know who was which, but was confusing at first. I thought this story was better for me then Wreck Me. (Was a DNF for me) Im all about being able to hear their voices and in Wreck Me, I couldnt feel that and thought it was way to rushed. This was a slower pace for Daws and Aubrey. I enjoyed that aspect of it. Friends first, lovers next.
Daws for me was a lover and a fighter. That is a great combination for him. He went through some heartache about Maura(Wreck Me) and liked that as soon as he saw Aubrey he wanted it to be different then how he normally acted. Aubrey was shy and hesitant. Scared and broken. I thought with that, they made a good match. The sexual chemistry was hot! Scorched the pages.
It was a quick and sexy read and it is gonna be interesting on whos next!
I was graciously gifted a copy for an honest review. Ya right, it was on after I read "Wreck You" book two. Stalking and all:) Anyway back to my review. I'm totally in LUV with the style of Ms. McCarthy's writing. It flows smoothly and never a dull moment. "Fight You" is based around domestic violence, along with rape. Oh and don't forget hotty MC's!!!! Obviously I don't need to say anything more. Aubrey & Ari grew up together in the foster system and their bond is knotted strong. Aubrey took everything , physical abuse and all from their foster father. She leaves and does what has to be done (sorry, can't go into details) But living on the streets, homeless, and eating out of dumpsters is no way to raise Ari. A particular plan is formed. In comes Daws, we met him in "Wreck You", obsessed with Maura. I just have to say, I totally fell head over heels for Daws. He started off wrong but got the hang of it. He knows how to treat a woman and not afraid to express his feelings. He thought she was it. The one. The person you'd die for. The person you couldn't live without. Boy, he needed a swift kick in the head. Until a girl with gorgeous green eyes grabs his attention. Daws can tell Aubrey's been thru hell and back but not to what extent. Experiencing raw deep routed feelings which are foreign to both . It's HOT!!!! Instantly sexual tension fills the air. Daws wants Aubri to be his & will stop at nothing. . Bonds and relationships are formed. For the first time Abri & Ari have a great life, one they only dreamed about. But all good things don't last in the end, right?
Aubrey is a foster child placed in the care of a pedophile. After she is beaten and sexually abused countless times (quite graphic, very real, and extremely heartbreaking- SO BEWARE) Aubrey wants to save her younger foster sister, Ari, from the hell she will one day face at the hands of this monster. Fleeing, but promising to return for Ari, Aubrey meets a saint of a woman while she lives on the streets. Marciella puts her in touch with her family and they agree to take her and Ari, once Aubrey goes back for her, into their homes, their lives, & their hearts.
Daws is one SEXY DUDE! DAMN! As part of the Devil's Crusaders M.C. where illegal activities are an every day occurrence, Daws also like to love em and leave.... well... Not LOVE em... but he sure does LEAVE em! One single glance at Aubrey however and his entire world shifts. He NEEDS to know her. He NEEDS to be by her. He NEEDS to protect her. But with Aubrey's past and what she's exactly running away from, is it worth it for Daws to put himself and his entire MC in danger for Aubrey?
Between being nauseated because of what Rich (yeah this piece of garbage sick bastard has a name) had done to Aubrey, swooning over Daws, falling in love with Gino & Ari's true friendship, feeling my heart warm as families take in complete strangers because they want to help... yeah I'd say it was one of hell of a ride! An awesome ride!! I very much enjoyed Abby's story... and I seriously hope we get more of DAWS! YUMMM!!!!!
What do you get when a biker, a mobster and a politician get together? One he!! of a book called Fight you. I loved this book from the very beginning. Aubrey is a strong girl who runs away from her horrible past. Once she is on her feet she rescues her foster sister Ari and runs. She finds a home with a family who accept both of them. Daws is the biker who can't stop thinking of Aubrey after he sees her for the first time. He becomes her savior.
All of the characters in this book are well developed and you will feel for each and everyone of them, except one. Read the book and you will see who I am talking about. The action in this book never stops. Not only is the love between Daws and Aubrey healing for both of them, it has it's sexy times and it's sweet times. This book is about so much more than romance. Heartbreak, tragedy, love, and most of all family are part of the story.
This is the second book in the series but is a standalone. It does not end in a cliffhanger. After reading this story I will be looking into book 1 because the author did a great job of telling this story.
I was given a gift copy in exchange for an honest review. Read and Reviewed for Kylie's Fiction Addiction.
I was pulled right into this story. The story flowed well I was kept interested. The story has laughs, pain, secrets, and heartbreak. I recommend reading Wreck you before reading this story. You meet Daws in that story first and it gives you a little bit more of his background.
This is Aubrey and Daws’s story. Aubrey is running from her past. She is broken. Daws noticed Aubrey right away and takes the time to get to know her. Aubrey learns to trust Daws but can she count on him to protect her? Can she tell Daws her secrets and will he still want her? When her past comes back for her who will she have to help her out?
I loved these characters and also a few of the side characters. There are some tear filled moments and some anger filled moments in this story. But all in all I felt I was able to connect with the characters and the story was a great read.
I highly recommend this book and can’t wait for the next story from this author.
Fight You by Abby McCarthy was a very deep read that had me from page one. This MC book had it all and throw in no cliffhanger at the end it was perfect. The storyline and characters had tons of depth and emotion. Loved the chemistry between the characters!! Hoping for more books in this series and more by this author.
Really enjoyed this story. I'm glad we got to see another side to Daws...not just the selfish take what I want side. Maura tried to explain it to him but it took him meeting and getting to know Aubriella for it all to click. Aubriella is so much stronger than she gave herself credit for. I loved the resolution to her problems...they all made sense.
Wow!! I'm literally speechless!! I didn't like Daws at all in Wreck You, but boy did that change!!! I loved every minute of Daws & Aubrey's story!!! A love story I think all of dream about and would love to have if we don't already!!! 5 Lovingly Stars!!! *****
It just kept getting better! It has a little bit of everything mixed in.... and just the right mixture! And again, Abby did a fabulous job with descriptions and detail. Can't wait to see what she has up her sleeve next!
I absolutely loved this book! I didn't think I would be able to love Daws this much, but he is my favorite in this series. What an amazing author! I can't wait for the next book.
Fight you is Abby McCarthy 's second book. I was beyond impressed by her first, Wreck you. I found it to be an excellent debut novel. Fight you, solidifies that she is a brilliant author with a very long career in front of her. Like Wreck you this book has dark context but does not feel that way. Both books are 5 star must reads!!!
From the beginning till the end, Fight you is perfect! Abby has the ability to make you fall in love with each and every one of her characters. Each of them playing a significant role. I found myself wanting to be part of their world. The dialog throughout the book is exceptional and natural. From the men to the children, it's effortless and feels completely genuine. It's a unique story filled with suspense, drama and unconditional love. It is a love story but it is not typical. It's a story about survival. Not letting your past dictate your future. Taking control. It's also a story about family and we find out that blood IS NOT always thicker than water!! We make our families and family always come first.
Aubrey and Ari are sisters on the run. Running from a despicable evil. With the compassion of a stranger their lives change in an instant. They are accepted into a real family and finally have a support system they always needed. As they get settled in Aubrey finds a job. At her job, she meets a beautiful but seemingly dangerous man, Daws. Right from the onset, they have an undeniable pull towards one another. Dawson Matthews is no Angel. He has his own demons. He is part of the Devil Crusaders. A biker gang. He doesn't know what it is to care for another person, let alone love them. But when it comes to Aubrey, all he wants to do is protect and care for her.... He can sense her pain and knows she is hiding something. Once you find out about what the unspeakable horrors Aubrey had to endure in her past, your heart will break for her. Not knowing how to trust or love... She finds an unlikely hero in Daws. He shows her nothing but patience, gentleness and kindness. While keeping true to himself and never losing his strength and stature. (I fell madly in love with Daws. He will forever have a place in my heart.) He begins to need her too, something he s not used too.....Two improbable people eventually needing each other, as much as the air they breath! As they grow closer, so does the danger.... Aubrey's past catches up to her and evil threatens to crush their world. Shit*t gets real!! I was at the edge of my seat. So scared for all of them. Should Aubrey take Ari and run or can Aubrey finally face her fears head on???
The background stories in the book were fantastic. I loved finding out about the Devil Crusaders. They may not be the most upstanding citizens. But they stole my heart.. the love and support they have for one another is a force! They know the true meaning of all for one and one for all...... Also, the Italian family that took the girls in had me smiling the entire time. Abby was spot on with her perfect rendition of a loyal crazy Italian family! It was so easy to fall in love with them also. They were simply wonderful.
I need to congratulate Abby on another incredible novel! BRAVO lady. I can not wait go see what you write next. You are a rising star!
Wow! Is all I got to say, leaving this with happy tears and a whole look on my own self strength and look on things. This is a story that reminds me of a quiz I took one time, that if I was in a horror flick would i'd be the first one to die, and I got a big wooping yes!! If it was a sex scene with this hot main character Daws then I'd be okay with it!! Now getting my head out of the gutter.... What I'm trying to say is this main character in this story, is one to have such courage, strength and the fight for not giving up. She'd definitely be the last one standing from the most horrific horror flick!! The one thing I love about these types of stories is a character giving the reader hope and inspiration to repeat. Like the next time I'm stuck and need the strength I can say what would Aubrey do?(WWAD) I just wanna say thank you to Author Abby McCarthy, for writing another highly addicting read. Amazing characters to add to my list! A story very memorable and dear to me, it will always be in that special place with my other loves. After reading Wreck you I couldn't imagine it getting any better. And it did! We get to hang out with the gang of Devil's, meet a new gang and get to the heart of Daws. What a difference I feel for him right now from where I left off in Wreck you! Aubrey and Ari are on the run. They were in real trouble. Because of Aubrey's strength and determination they were able to run to a happy place. A place where family means everything and it doesn't matter if your blood or not. Their hearts are big and true. With love, laughter and delish food, this reminded me of a lot of family moments I've had. Aubrey finds her place among the mob and a biker club. This is an interesting mix and works well, as long as she keeps her secrets to herself. Through this she never expected to walk straight in line to feelings she tries to avoid and his name is Daws. He's back from Wreck you and like I wrote before, in this story we see him in a whole different way. Aubrey had been through so much and is so scared and broken down, she builds a rock solid wall and behind it are her feelings. Will Daws be able to make it crumble and fall down? Is he strong enough to be there for her? Will there be a happily ever after for Aubrey,Ari and Daws? I just loved this story, it holds a solid 10 stars in my heart. There is a mixture of everything, a dust of dark, angst, humor, hot romance, suspence, and surprises as every page unfolds. This is a little different from Wreck you, with a little darker feel. Abby out did herself with this one and shows me she can definitely write onto different story lines. This could be read as a standalone with character carry alongs to other books. Each of these stories are unique and must reads! You will love this group of characters! I hope there are more stories to come with them. "I'm the one who is used and broken. You are a mosaic of beautifully broken pieces out together. Don't you fu***** get that, when I see you, I don't see what's been done to you. I see a survivor, a protector and a fighter. You got a battle to be fought I'm fighting it with you. No more running from this. No more fighting me.". ~ Daws.
Fight You is the second book in the Wrecked series by Abby McCarthy. This book can be read as a standalone with no problems. I hadn't read the first book in the series before reading this and although I could tell that I had missed some of the backstory for Daws, I thought that Abby McCarthy did a great job of filling the reader in enough to fully understand his story. I will say that after reading and enjoying Fight You so much that I really want to go back and read the first book now.
Aubrey is running from a past that could ruin everything that she has worked hard to get away from. She will do whatever it takes to keep her sister safe, and isn't looking for a guy in her life. Daws is the last person she expects to meet or feel drawn to, and yet she finds herself feeling safe and comfortable with him. But Aubrey knows that if her past finds her, she will run in a heartbeat if it means keeping her sister from the monster in their past. Daws has always been raised to be the bad boy, but he is tired of all the women and everything that goes along with being the son of the president of the Devil Crusaders. But as soon as he meets Aubrey, he knows that he wants a future with her and will do whatever it takes to show her that he is worthy of her trust. But when Aubrey's past starts to catch up to her will Daws be able to keep her and her sister safe?
I liked Daws a lot. He was sweet and protective, and I liked that he didn't mess around with Aubrey's feelings. He was thoughtful and he took care of her and Ari. I really liked that he took to Ari so quickly and that he had no problem with Aubrey and Ari being a package deal. He was so great with both of them, and I loved seeing him earn Aubrey's trust. Daws was exactly what Aubrey needed, just as she was what Daws needed. Aubrey had been through so much, but she was such a fighter. She was strong and determined, and the way that she looked after Ari was something I really admired. She was slow to trust because of her past, but she was able to finally open up and let Daws in and I thought that it was great to see how much progress she made because of him. Daws and Aubrey had great chemistry, and I thought that they were really perfect for one another.
Overall, I really enjoyed this book and I can't wait to go back and read the first story as well. I loved the characters, and I thought that the story was interesting. I was able to get right into this one and didn't want to put it down. I really liked Abby McCarthy's writing style and I look forward to reading more from her. I would recommend this story if you are looking for a NA read that is unique and different from others out there. This story was original and fresh, and I really liked that it wasn't so similar to everything else out there. I can't wait to read more in this series, and I am really hoping that we might get Ari's story in the future. She was so sweet and I loved her friendship with Gino. I can absolutely see that turning into more in the future, and I really hope that Abby McCarthy will write more about them!
Fight You by Abby McCarthy is the second book in her Wrecked series. This book can be read as a standalone but takes place in the same world as Wreck You and after the events start to unfold in that first book. And to be perfectly honest, they're both fantastic books so just read both.
Yet another gripping, dramatic, romance filled with redemption, darkness, and triumph over the evil that the worst of humanity can inflict.
Aubrey and her foster sister Ari have run away from the evil man that was supposed to care for them. In an attempt to disappear, Aubrey has colored her hair and is now Ari's "Mom". Aubrey has the luck of meeting members of a family that welcome her and open their hearts and homes to the two of them. Helping her get on her feet, Jenny sets Aubrey up with a job at the local custom body shop, taking Maura's place, who we met in the first book, now that she has left with Corbin.
Daws was disappointed and a little bitter when Maura went and fell in love with someone else. For all their lives it was supposed to be the two of them but really, there was no chemistry and despite what he believed, Daws realizes now he never really felt that way with her. When he first lays eyes on Aubrey, the reactions firing in his body only confirm that what he felt for Maura wasn't real romantic love. Aubrey has managed to bring this bad-@ss biker straight to his knees.
His protective instincts over her, and over Ari, are the final building block Aubrey needs to begin healing from her tortured past. But when the monster gets too close, will she run again or will she trust in those around her that love her and accept their help.
I cannot wait to read more from this author. Another fantastic book.
Even before anything happened with us, You happened to me. You started changing me from the very first day. You helped me grow stronger. You taught me to be brave and you taught me to love.~ Aubrey

Oh, and THIS happened...I was mentioned in the "Thank You" section at the end of the book. Abby - you slay me! Total squee moment! Thank YOU for letting me help you get your beautiful story and it's even more beautiful message of overcoming abuse and emotional damage and PTSD out there to the masses.
“I’m a Devil, sometimes the Devil you know is more dangerous than the one from your nightmares.”
Fight You is the second book in the Wrecked series. Even though I recommend reading Wreck You because it gives you some background into Daws, it’s not necessary.
I loved seeing Abby’s growth as a writer in this book. This story to me had a better flow and was a book you easily attached to the characters. Also prepare Abby writes some pretty HOT scenes once these two get together.
“You’re already mine whether you want to admit it or not cause that might have been the best kiss of your life, but news for ya sweet girl, it was the best of mine too.”
Aubrey is running from a past that no one can even imagine. What she has survived is maybe the worst nightmare I can envision and the strength she shows is AMAZING. She completely invents herself into someone else and protects her “daughter” like only a true “mother” would. Aubrey never factored in someone like Daws. Daws is a Devil Crusader, meaning Daws is 100% bad boy with a trail of women to prove it. Actually he explains himself as a taker. “Taking. I’m always f****** taking. I was raised to f****** take.”
Needless to say Daws is definitely not a saint. That is until Aubrey walks into his life or should I say his dad’s motorcycle shop. This is when I started to fall for Daws. He is so different then what you expect a motorcycle taker to be. He 100% respects Aubrey, and the boundaries she has put around herself. He respects that she is not willing or open to talk about her past. He respects her as a mother and takes on Ari right along with her. What I loved though is no matter how hard Aubrey tried to hide her past, Daws knew it was there, he knew she was hiding more than pain and refused to let her walk away from him because of it. But like always in a story, it can’t be all hearts and flowers and no drama. This is an MC book so that would never work, right? All good things need to be shaken up, realities need to come to the surface and everyone’s past has to come out. So does that happen? ABSOLUTELY!! Is it worth it? ALWAYS!!! Seriously this is a story that will keep you reading and it is one that has left me wanting someone else’s story even though there is absolutely no cliffhanger. Mickey leans in close to me, an in-genuine hug so that he can talk close to my ear without anyone hearing, “Pick your jaw up off the floor and say hello.”
Confession...I've never read an MC book before, or watched SOA. I know. What rock have I been living under? I've never been into bikers and badasses. All of that changed when I read Abby McCarthy's latest installment in the Wrecked series, Fight You. In this book we get to really know Daws, a carry over character from her first book, Wreck You.
Daws is the son of the Devil's Crusaders president and a seriously hot badass. He's tall and lean with a ponytail and tats, and I had no clue that I would be drawn to that!! Though he was raised in a very non-traditional way and lives a rather colorful life, Daws has one of the biggest hearts I've ever met. When he meets the one woman that can make his world a brighter place, we get to see just what a sexy "real" man he is.
Aubrey has one of the saddest and most inspiring stories I've ever read. Her life has beenfilled with abuse and neglect, yet she rises above it in a way that is a true testament to the strength she possesses. As a result of her past, Aubrey is understandably fearful around men and what they can represent. Somehow, someway, Daws manages to ease her fears and give her a love and patience she has never known.
The love story between Daws and Aubrey is sweet, sexy and written in such a way that it does not feel like insta-love. Abby does a great job of describing passages of time in a seemless and natural way. In doing that, we get to follow the story and not feel rushed into their relationship. Daws is so patient with Aubrey. He is kind and loving, but more than any of that he respects Aubrey. Quite frankly, I find that incredibly sexy. He respects her limits, her past and her strength. Yep, that's hot. The trials and events that they must face together show us the depth of the love and character.
While Fight You is a wonderful and easy read, it does deal with some very serious issues. While nothing can really prepare a reader for such heinous things as rape, child abuse and neglect, Abby does an amazing job of writing about these topics that leaves the reader full of empathy and compassion instead of a feeling of disgust or misunderstanding. That is a fine line that few authors are able to walk.
Fight You is a stand-alone novel, but I will say that reading Wreck You first will give you some background info on Daws. There will be another story in the Wrecked series. I cannot wait to see what Abby writes next!!
