This was not what I thought. I bought this based on a friends review and at the time it did not have a synopsis. I put the synopsis on GR and tried to read the book, but I found the characters (20ish) ridiculously immature. My clue as to the content of this book should have been the publisher. I have read and liked some steamy books, but this one was awful; couldn't finish it.
The characters and writing were so ridiculous and cheesy that I couldn't get more than a third of the way through before calling it quits. It was so awful that I couldn't fathom finishing it.
On the run from her crazy (stalker) ex-boyfriend, Jamie Cartwright needs a cheap place to lay low and the apartment complex right on the beach looks perfect, as does Apartment Manager, Devon McCloud.
This is a great story and has another serious storyline about a missing person that intertwines Jamie's and Devon's story. There are also some extremely funny characters (such as Francine and her dog), as well.
Honestly, the things I read in the name of research (ie, reader reference service in my workplace), and okay, I thought reading straight-out erotic fiction would be more entertaining than a Mills&Boon. Haven't read a M&B yet to compare, but I suspect their plots make more sense than this. Also, the sex scenes were dismally unimaginative after the first 2 or 3.
I couldn't finish it. The hero had great potential, a regular guy with a semi-regular life, with regular hopes and dreams, but...heroine's being stalked and she's all set to jump in bed with a stranger? Not buying it.
