It’s true what they say, “No good deed goes unpunished.”

Taylor Lewis loves her life. She doesn’t have a fancy house or a lot of money, but she has the perfect family and friends. But everything changes the night she stumbles upon an attempted kidnapping.

Taylor tries to put a stop it and finds herself captured and drugged. Held prisoner by evil men who will do anything to make their “boss” happy, Taylor fights to keep herself from being sold on the black market.

When Maverick, Allistar, Marak, and Syn arrive to free the girls, they find Taylor and quickly take her under their wing. Her feistiness draws them all in, especially after she proves she's more than willing to protect herself.

But the men who kidnapped Taylor aren’t willing to give up. With her safety in jeopardy, Maverick, Allistar, Marak, and Syn step up to keep Taylor out of harm’s way. While danger looms ever nearer, Taylor can’t fight the emotional connection building between her and the guys. Can they protect each other when not only Taylor’s life is on the line, but also their hearts?

I was so happy when I realised the second book in the series was out, as the first book, Fostering Hope, was overall a good read and had me keen to read more.

This book is nothing like the first, I found myself disinterested in the main characters and what they were going through. The story felt lackluster and the heart found in the first book was missing here.

I've read a number of menage romance books which absorbed me, where the rich chemistry and affection between the main characters was wonderfully articulated, rippling of the pages - that was not the case here.

I did skim read some parts after a while, in order to finish this. Each time I left this book to do something, the characters and story quickly vanished from my mind. Even now all I'm left with is a sense of disappointment.

Finding Serenity is book 2 in the Silver Lining series by this author, though it can be read without reading book 1 as it focuses on different characters, with the characters in book 1 making a brief appearance. The book is a contemporary reverse harem and unlike book 1 it does have some sex scenes in it, which is nice. The four heroes are friends so close they are like brothers, something I always like. They are not indistinct from each other, there are a couple tidbits about each one that is routinely mentioned to account for their differences, but the only one I really felt drawn to was Maverick (I tend to like the leader/alpha types). I started out liking the heroine okay but as more time went on the more off-putting I found her attitude and behavior. I think a lot of readers will describe her as strong or feisty, but I just found her bratty/immature and reckless for her situation. Her "Grumpy" was a cute character, and I liked his sayings, etc. I really liked the relationship she had with him and her late Grammy.
The plot involved the heroes protecting Taylor from an off-page criminal who was after her, and nearly every scene was something having to do with that, or coming down from it. I would have liked to have read more about them doing something else and how they talked/interacted with each other when it wasn't about arranging her protection, protecting her or arguing with her about her protection. I wouldn't term this an insta-love, but the heroes are immediately attached to her upon rescuing her (when she is unconscious) and stick around the hospital specifically for her even though they have never done that before so it almost fits that term for me, especially since their relationship progresses rapidly from there and I never quite feel the connection between them.
I like this author's writing style and will definitely read more of her books. I suspect many readers will really love this book but it was somewhere between okay and like for me.
I read a free copy of this book, before it had undergone final edits.

When Taylor stumbles on a kidnapping, she becomes a target for some very bad men. Thankfully, she has her own squad of SWAT officers to protect her. Maverick, Allistair, Marak and Syn all find themselves falling for Taylor, who starts to have feelings for all four men. But between the danger facing them and the interpersonal conflicts they may not be able to work out their non-traditional relationship.

This isn't a bad book. The romantic suspense part is very well written. However, most of the interpersonal relationship problems would have been solved if any of the characters had actually bothered to talk to each other (which they should do, because they're either best friends or lovers). That really brought down the book for me, since a lot of that conflict seemed artificially manufactured. But I'd read this author again.

Finding Serenity is the second book in the Silver Lining series. I had read Fostering Hope first and liked the book very much. However, the story of Parker and her friends was not finished satisfactorily for me. So I was looking forward to the second book to learn more about the development and everyday life of the relationship. But the second book isn't about Parker, it's about Taylor, another victim, the criminals who were already in Fostering Hope.
The story begins with Taylor's capture by the girl trafficker, her rescue and escape by Alistair, Maverick, Syn and Marek. The plot is that the criminal boss wants Taylor and tries to kidnap her, but her rescuers protect her. In between, the RH Romance unfolds and develops.
The story was entertaining but a bit predictable for my taste, yet a contemporary RH story worth reading.

Deutsche Rezension:

DNF. I absolutely loved the first one, parker, her guys, their family, the sense of being able to belong to such a great bunch of people, the contemporary reverse harem factor and the overall writing style of the author. However, and that's a big however, this one just feels off. Off as in it's beyond my knowledge just how this one turned out to be...so off. Mind you guys, I only managed 37% or so. I'll never know if the heroine has a chance to actually redeem herself in the end because I didn't fucking finished. But from the critical reviews I've read, she seems like a hopeless case anyway. Or maybe I'm just really pissy nowadays. But yeah, long story short - I can't take it anymore. The first time when the heroine did something sounds stupid, heading to Jenna and the kidnappers without any thinking, I can write off as panic. But when she continues to show such an infuriating behavior and attitude, it feels even less tolerable as I go through more chapters. The temper isn't really funny or cute or something I can dismiss. I bet feminists have a lot of things to say about that temper if it's on a guy. Plus, the stupidity and her tendency to be unreasonable. She's the kind of heroine who makes me feel like accepting help is stupid. Like going through extra measures on such a serious case, like being hunted by a mastermind of a child sex ring operation, is downgrading. I will never understand and will never relate with heroines like that. Anyway, I guess it's just I have been so, so excited to read more from this series that I kind of built expectations already. Sadly, this one just didn't make it. I'd rather get more from Parker and her guys.

Taylor's life is nothing special but it makes her happy; good job, nice apartment, wonderful friends, and family. Staying late one Friday sets a chain of events in motion that puts her entire world in jeopardy. Her car breaks down on her way home and while looking over the engine she hears a scream. Acting purely on instinct Taylor rushes toward the screams and interrupts an abduction. She nearly frees the young girl but instead finds herself drugged and kidnapped as well. The girls are held with others in a warehouse and readied to be 'sold'. Except for Taylor. She catches the eye of the big boss who decides he wants her for his own pet. SWAT rescues the girls before they are sold but since the boss gets away, Taylor is still in danger. The boss has decided that she is his and soon makes it clear that he will destroy anything and anyone who keeps him from his pet. Luckily for Taylor, her rescuers are equally determined to keep her safe. If only she could protect her heart from Maverick, Allistar, Marak, and Syn.

Finding Serenity is the second of the Silver Lining series. The characters are all new but there is a crossover with the original guys and Parker from book 1. This one can easily be read as a stand-alone although I did love the bridge with the original story and original characters. This book is as well written as the first and the characters every bit as compelling. Taylor is a feisty, loving, little Diet Coke-addicted fireball. Her bond with her besties and her protective nature of the guy's friendship showed her character. There wasn't a selfish, thoughtless bone in her body. There were, however, plenty of stubborn, fun-loving, and mischievous ones. I adored the guys. Closer than brothers, their loyalty and love for one another were admirable. The fact that they never came across as man-whores took them from handsome to stunning. Syn, funny and such a caretaker, Alistar, protective and caring, Marak with his adorable dorkiness, and Maverick the domineering leader. These guys had each other's backs and when they took Taylor in she fit perfectly. You could tell that it would be forever once they all figured it out. One more character of note. Grumpy. I want a Grumpy! Unconditional love with a healthy sense of humor. This man is magnificent!!

The story is entertaining and full of suspense. The damsel in distress that can hold her own but has four gorgeous men determined to protect her from the 'big baddie'... call me a sucker, but I love it! So romantic. And despite Taylor getting in her own way, the ending sorted itself out exactly as I wanted. The end...for now. I'm holding you to this!

Great and easy read

Finding Serenity is the 2nd book of the Silver Lining series. With some overlap with the characters from book 1, Parker and the rest of the Harper-Smith guys, we are introduced to Taylor, Maverick, Allistar, Syn, and Marak. This book is as well written as the first and the characters every bit as compelling.
Oh my, Taylor is a feisty, sassy, Diet Coke-addict, red head. Her bond with grandpa was wonderful. Grump was hilarious and annoying at the same time. Being her selfless self- she tried to break up a attempted kidnapping, only to be caught herself. Now enters her guys who are SWAT teammates who are as close as brothers. They rescue the MC and feel especially protective over her since the main villian is till at large and is stalking Taylor.
I absolutely loved the guys. They were not reformed womanizers or cookie cutter personalities. They actually had character! Lol. Marak, aborably geeky and sometimes oblivious, Syn, the joker but so caring Alistar, protective and the peacekeeper, and Maverick the dominant leader. The intimate scenes were steamy and just the right pace- well a little preemptive for the 1st one, but otherwise well placed and sporadic. The only drawback for me was that our FMC had too many points of stupidity. I'll try not to spoil anything, but there is such a thing as being too stubborn. Who goes off so many times by yourself while there is a stalker in the lose and suffer so many close calls? Duh, stay with he guys. Also way too many kicks to the gonads to be funny anymore. Thus the 4stars.

The story is very entertaining and full of suspense. I'm a hopeless romantic and loved the ending. The one thing that I loved about this series is all the examples of unconditional love displayed, not only by the MCs but the supporting characters as well. Oh an don't think I didn't read that small snippet "the end...for now". I would gladly read more about this group.

I thoroughly enjoyed Finding Serenity.

I'd kind of forgotten what the Silver Lining series was about and it took me a very long time to realize who the crossover characters were (not intended as a negative reflection on either story - the fact that I recognized the characters at all, given how little screen time they have in this second book, actually says a lot about how memorable they were). Once I did I found myself a bit confused because I really didn't remember Parker's involvement in the situation where we find Taylor nor did I remember the Maverick team. Apparently I need to go re-read?

Anyway, back to Finding Serenity. As you can probably guess based on that rambling ^ you really don't need to read the first in the series, Fostering Hope, to enjoy Finding Serenity. FS does contain spoilers for FH though, so if you're going to read both read them in order.

Taylor was a solid MC. I found her generally relatable personality-wise, though I always have a hard time when authors make otherwise intelligent characters make really stupid decisions. (). I liked the way Perry approached the guys' reactions to the RH concept and particularly enjoyed the way we really got to know Taylor and got some major drama before the guys even appeared on the page. A solid plot, good writing, steamy scenes. I recommend.

I have really enjoyed the other books by Amanda Perry that I've read, however, this one was a bit below my expectations. Grumpy drove me crazy reading his parts. I know that the way it was written was to convey a southern accent, and being from the south myself i totally get the way it's supposed to be, but for the love man, the amount of "I'm gonna pick yer switch" that I had to endure with him was beyond annoying. To say when he was gone was a relief is an understatement. I liked Taylor in the beginning, yet by the end of the book I liked her considerably less due to the stupidity that just radiated off her in waves. Being in the situation that she was in getting kidnapped, being stalked, and crazy close to being shipped off into sexual slavery she had absolutely no qualms about running off alone every chance she got, despite the multiple attempts on her. I did however like the guys and the story line. I just wish it would have been done a little better.

I have really enjoyed Amanda's previous work so I was looking forward to this one. I wavered between 3 and 4 stars because I really do like her writing style but something just didn't click for me. I really liked the heroine in the beginning but she drove me nuts by the end as some of the decisions she made were stupid and reckless. The ending felt lackluster and anticlimactic after all the build up which is a shame because it started off with a bang. I enjoyed seeing the guys and Parker from the first book, their connections to each other seeped from the page but it only highlighted to disconnect between the characters in this one. I did like the addition of the sex scenes which were hot and well written. Overall not my favourite by this author but I will still happily read what ever she releases next, this time it might just be a case of 'it's not you it's me'.

IT MAY HAVE SOME SPOILERS. it was good but not as good as the first book because of the lack of communication among our five heroes.there are a lot of misunderstandings between them and they dont take the time to explaine to Taylor or to reassure her.she hides and they let her.and what about Maverick? all he knows is to bark orders and take charge in the bedroom but when he needs to say to his friends :"these are my feelings for her, what are yours?this is the solution if we all like them, are you in?lets go get out girl",i'm not satisfied with him. he should have said to her:"these are our feelings for you, we are willing to share how do you feel?". i think he is bossy just to explaine his bdsm fetih.ferthermore we dont get to learn the mens backstories and mccreepearsons death was unticlimactic.the boys in the first book are way better and caring.

I was really looking forward to this book as I absolutely love Love Love fostering hope book one in the silver lining series, however, as good as this book was I did not like it as much as the first one. That said, this is still a great read. Taylor is rather fiesty and quite a strong heroine. The four guys are awesome, they all have their own personalities and quirks which I fell in love with.

It’s well written, with a great plotline. It has plenty of excitement drama and romance and it was great to see Parker and her boys. I am looking forward to the next book, i really enjoyed this one and I love the steam and heat

An excellent sequel to Silver Lining book 1, Amanda Perry has written a heartfelt and rough tale that once again leaves you wanting more.

Definitely not an insta-love romance book, lust and trust are used to form bonds. With a MC who is not afraid to break some nuts and a loopy Grandpa with an endless collection of odd sayings, Finding Serenity is a smooth and enjoyable read.

The only negative to me is the amount of times she gets taken or confronted. As such, I am very much looking forward to see how Perry will close the series once she is finished breaking and reforming my heart with these adorable harems.

I was super excited to see another silver linings book. At first when I realized it didn't follow the story of the original characters I was super disappointed, BUT the stories are linked and as I continued to read I changed my mind. I LOVED this story. There were a few times that I thought the MC acted kind of off from her personality but I think they was just me being picky. The guys are GREAT! And I really hope we get to continue on with the characters the author has created from this series!

In the universe of Fostering Hope, we follow another kidnapped victim who was rescued in the same raid as Hope was in the previous story. Taylor is a strong fighter who refuses to let anyone take her down. She falls into this SWAT team's protection where the typical RH themes play out. There us the right amount of drama, heart ache, passion and comedy yo keep you reading. The only reason I put it down was to go to work or shower, I think.i might rh have slept. The only con I have is that at the end I just wanted a bit more. Like another two books 😁

Loved it!!

I really enjoyed Finding Serenity. This is not a short read, it is rather long. And I enjoyed every min of it. The female lead is fun and hilarious, not to mention a fighter. She has her moments where she breaks down, and also a few moments where she was somewhat stubborn. But always found her way. The guys, “sighs”, are different and perfect. Each has their own personality and I fell for each one of them. Definitely one to get. Also loved the references from book one. It was good to get to see them again.

This was book two in the series but it followed different characters, though there were some cameos. This book was good. I liked the storyline and the characters for the most part. The MC's attitude sometimes bugged me and her Grumpy was cute at first but then some of his dialog would become annoying. The relationship progression was fast but not in a bad way. Overall it was an enjoyable read.

One of the best contemporary RH stories!

Amanda has created a very realistic take on the RH possibility. Her characters are always amazing! My favorite hands down is Grumpy! I love the relationship between Taylor and Grumpy. I don't know why I didn't remember that there was a tie in with Fostering Hope, but loved how this all wove together. While I was surprised at the abrupt ending, I am very much looking forward to the next book!

This is an excellent continuation to background story introduced in the first book. It is about a different set of main characters but no less riveting than the first. If you have read any of my reviews you know I only give five starts when there are complex engaging characters, a "real" feeling world, and a great plot. This book as all of this.

Holy heart stopping, I laughed I cried and I loved the characters in this book. Taylor was the perfect heroine in the story not too strong but strong enough to deal with 4 big lugs and a stalker. The ending has a huge surprise and I was definitely holding my breath. I hope that book 3 is just as intense.

I liked the first book a lot more than this one, even though they were very similar. The storyline was almost exact, but the drama in this one with the guys and her was a little much for me. I liked how in the first book the brothers knew what they wanted and there wasn't a question whether they wanted to be with the mc.

Good

This story was good but a lot was left opened. I felt we didn’t get any closure from a certain situation. The characters were good. I wish we got more of Grumpy. I like the character crossovers of Parker and the gang.
