Looking Into the Past . . .
Anna was trying to help Zendaya work up the nerve to see if she passed the exam this time. She was able to pass the physical tests this time, so there was every chance that she did well on the written part. And even then, she can take the test again. When Anna got tired of waiting for her to stop delaying, she hit the enter key to display the results. Anna shouted in joy, “You got in”. But Zendaya sat there there then started to cry. The smile made it worth the effort! It was her dream to be a detective, and this was her 5th try. That evening, they dressed up and went to the Empire Lounge to celebrate. Anna went to get their drinks while Zendaya looked around. A guy in a trenchcoat stared at her until he saw her look at him. When Anna returned, she again saw him staring at them as they drank their beers. They moved onto the dance floor to have some fun, but when Anna found a guy to dance with, Zendaya watched until someone whispered against her ear! It was the very unattractive man from the bar! He was putting his arms around her and she pushed him away, loudly asking if he was crazy! Sweat ran off his bald head and over his nose and lips. He had a scary smile as he slowly looked at her body. Finally he walked away and left the club. She grabbed Anna and told her they were going home!
Zendaya Robbie flew to her hometown of Telluride and was met by Sheriff Bill Norton who showed her to her new “space”. He told her she was assigned to the violent crime unit, but the most violent crimes here in Telluride are cases of drunks who don't want to pay for their drinks. Evidently, he didn’t recognize her from 15 years ago when she lived here, even though he would have seen her name on the paperwork. She also recognized the reception officer who helped with her luggage, and he hadn’t recognized her either. Now that she was here, she needed to find the case file that was important to her -- the death of her mother 15 years ago. Officer Jimmy gave her a tour around town, but there were not many changes over the years. Then he drove her to the apartment they were providing her. Zendaya has a special skillset to help her investigate. When a body is found, will her supernatural skills and those of others be able to solve the current murder and past occurrences? When she realizes magic is why the serial killer killed two victims, she knows the killer is draining his victims of their life force through spells. Will Zendaya end up being targeted as well?

I had to admire Zendaya for her tenacity as she took the test over and over to make detective. She is driven by the need to find out what happened to her mother years ago. While researching her mother's death, she becomes involved in solving serial murders in her own town as well as the next town over. I enjoyed the story although it was a little confusing with the points of view of several women. Light paranormal elements including a helpful ghost.Lots of twists and turns especially the weird plot twist telling who is behind the killings and the vain reasoning behind them. I received an ARC copy of the book and this is my honest review.

Zendaya gets her license to be a detective and moves to the town of Telluride to work. She doesn't tell anyone that she used to live in this town. She gets involved in a serial killer case and makes her boss mad and he puts her on leave. She is also investigating her mom's murder at the same time. Then the sheriff asks her to go investigate a murder in the next town of Vail. The girl was murdered the same way her mother died. She gets into the investigation and finds a family that are not what they seem.

A Murder Among Petals is about Zendaya Robbie a Detective and moved to a town where she lived when young she needed to look into her Mother's death. She has special skills and can tell if people lie and see their memories. She works with Detective Mason Tucker on a case and then she also meets his Daughter Eloise a Detective who has special skills and can visualise crime scene. There are many linked cases. Excellent story and series which I highly recommend

I read a shorter version of this story in November but I enjoyed reading this longer version of the story which gave you more information about the main characters of Zendaya Robbie and Mason Tucker. I found Mason's daughter Eloise who is a detective in another small town a every interesting character as well. There is alot of mystery with magicial twist to them as well. So do not hestitate to read this book if you have read Frozen Past Memories.

A Murder Among Petals: A Telluride Paranormal Cozy Mystery, my fifth read from author Bia Brown. An enjoyable well-written, 446-page mystery, the longest and best written of her books I've read. “I received a complementary Kindle copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review." I look for to reading more from this author. (RIP Marley January 20, 2014 - July 24, 2018).

Zendaya is on a new case which has a serial killer on the loose. Lots of suspense, secrets and has an edge of the seat finish to it. An intriguing read . I received this ARC copy via Booksprouts and recommend this book to other readers.

Zendaya returns to her hometown and the body of her long lost childhood friend is discovered. She has help from a friendly ghost to unravel the mystery. Fast paced story, interesting complex characters and lots of twists and turns make this a real page turner and a must read!

Although I basically enjoyed this book I was also a little put off with it, not sure why if I'm honest, was it the writing, the story, the characters? - don't know. I did finish the book, although it took longer than usual, and the mysteries were compelling but it was quite twisted. Not sure if I'd read another though
