POV: Dual
Spice: 🌶️ 🌶️ 🌶️

Paranormal romcoms are hard to come by so I was extra excited to come across this one, especially because it had baseball as well! We need more paranormal sports romcoms!

This is a light and easy read, and just a lot of fun with a the supernatural baseball players having their own league. Bailey and Bats have that instant sunshine/grump chemistry, and I love how Bats turns out to be a really good guy. He is a vampire, and I just felt that it did not get into much of that, nor did Bailey ask many questions you would expect of someone who is dating a vampire for the first time. We don’t find out much about his history or how exactly he was turned, and there is no biting.

I think this book is great for someone who wants a fun romance with just a little side of paranormal!

Book could have went through another round of editing. I found a lot of typing errors and sentence fragments.

Bailey Lewis Sucks at Baseball follows Bailey, a half-witch, almost 30 year old, lifetime baseball fanatic as she enters into a single season contract with the Charleston Chompers as their new social media girl. The Chompers need someone to get them into the 21st century with their marketing, and Bailey is just the girl to do it.
While, the title might imply Bailey is terrible at baseball, it’s quite the contrary. Bailey “knows ball”.
Bats Batson has entered the chat, the Chompers team captain and the broodiest 100 year old vampire has been assigned as Baileys right hand man to get her up to speed on everything she needs to know about the players and he is hating every minute of it. Bats is a loner, he wants baseball to stay old school and Bailey has to take creative measures to convince him that if they want to increase ticket sales, they have to step out of the 19th century.

This grumpy x sunshine trope follows Bailey, Bats and a derpy dog named Chipper as Bailey tries to make the teams dream come true of playing at the annual Monster Mash Halloween game that is voted on by the fans of the teams.

Very heart warming(as much as a vampires heart can warm) story of found family and following your dreams.
I can see the authors love of baseball shine through in her writing.

Thank you for the opportunity to read your book!

If you take the concept of Bananaball, but make the players all paranormal entities like vampires, werewolves and Bigfoot, and throw in some romance you get the delightful zaniness that is Bailey Lewis Sucks at Baseball.

Since supernatural creatures have enhanced strength and abilities, they're not allowed to play in the regular MLB, so a special league, the Supernatural and Undead Paranormal Exhibition Regulatory League (aka the SUPER League), is formed. There the SUPER players can show off their enhanced skills and bust out some dance moves.

Bailey Lewis is a lifelong baseball fan who has just been hired hired as a social media manager on a 1 year contract for the Charleston Chompers, her local SUPER League team. But the vampire team captain, Bats Batson, is less than enthusiastic about her new position and has to be strong-armed by the coach into participating. He's of the opinion that baseball should be appreciated as a sport and that dance routines are ridiculous wastes of time. But a bet, an adorable stray dog and improved game attendance begin to turn the animosity between Bailey and Bats into attraction.

As a baseball and Bananaball fan, I really loved this story. I liked Bailey's growth arc as she goes from a being chronic people-pleaser to becoming a woman in charge of her own destiny. And Batts learns that maybe social media stuff isn't necessarily all bad, cringy and exploitative and that a 100+ year old vampire CAN learn new tricks.

Thank you Caroline Laine for the opportunity to advance read!

Firstly I have read every book that Caroline has released so I had high hopes for this one to be just as amazing, I can confirm it did not disappoint and delivered just as I had anticipated it would.

This book is a delightful and engaging cozy romance that combines supernatural elements with a sweet love story.

Bailey, the new social media manager for the Charleston Chompers in the intriguing SUPER league, navigates the challenges of her trial run at the job while juggling her growing feelings for the team's grumpy captain, Bats, a charismatic vampire. The dynamic between Bailey and Bats is electric, with his stoic demeanor hiding a deep affection for her that slowly unravels throughout the story.

The pacing of the narrative is spot-on, drawing you into a world brimming with magic and charm. Caroline masterfully balances the romance and the supernatural elements, creating a believable setting that reminded me of that iconic scene from "Twilight" where the Cullen family plays baseball in a thunderstorm.

The book also skillfully integrates just the right amount of spice, ensuring that the romantic tension feels authentic without being overdone.

Some of the tropes in the book are:

⚾️ Grumpy MMC
⚾️He takes care of her
⚾️He falls first
⚾️Supernatural beings
⚾️He gets the girl

Overall I’m excited to read more from this series and recommend this to anyone who enjoys a cosy, paranormal romance with the perfect amount of spice to keep your cheeks warm.

Very original book, with great worldbuilding! Supernaturals aren’t a secret anymore, and everyone gets along. Bailey is a young woman with a little bit of witch-blood, who grew up loving baseball. The Carolina Chompers are a baseball team in the “Supernatural and Undead Paranormal Exhibition Regulatory League.” The SUPERS League plays a version of baseball like “Banana Ball,” with dancing and tricks that take advantage of the players’ unique skills. Bailey is excited to become the Chompers’ Social Media Manager, tasked with boosting the team’s social media presence and introducing its players to the public. Bats Batson is the team’s captain. He's a grumpy, hot vampire, who initially has no use for social media. There are multiple story lines in this book including about Bailey’s career, her family & friends, and more. A relationship grows between Bailey and Bats (with adult heat). The book has plenty of baseball references, and the characters are engaging. I really hope the author writes more books in this world!

I have mixed feelings about this book, in one way it was a decent fun rom com, on the other hand I really feel it was missing the vampire side of the romance. Bats might have been a vampire, but besides his age, I found this book was lacking in the skills and powers outside of the ballpark.

Bailey is insecure, she is trying to get a new job at the Charleston Chompers, what is supposed to be a banana ball type of league using superpowers to put on a show beyond just the ballgame. Bats is the captain and is tasked to working with Bailey to make it to the Monster Mash which is their tournament.

They get off on the wrong foot, but they slowly become friends than more, and I did love seeing their relationship progress to more, for them to take risks, and not sacrifice on their personal level for relationship. The romance was the best part of this story, but I found it lacking in other ways that dropped my review.

A few other small things I didn’t like were the amount of pop culture references, it felt over used to describe things. The powers, I would have preferred a little more paranormal powers in a paranormal romance. I will say I might still read the next book in the series, I am curious about Gen’s book.

ARC Reader Review (thank you PenPal PR and Caroline Laine).

This was a sweet, easy read. I've fallen on 3/5 stars.

When I say easy read, I mean it. I was taken in by storytelling and the characters very quickly. The world building was done well but as someone with very low knowledge of baseball, it was tricky to keep up (no hitters, baseball curses, etc.).

The romance/plot progressed very quickly. One second it was enemies to lovers/grumpy x sunshine, the next they were falling in lust. It moved fast and predictably but to be clear, not necessarily in a bad way. A few side stories sort of fell away (wanting to live up to her sister, background about Geoffrey) but they weren't pivotal, just felt unresolved.

As a side note, includes some slightly cringe nicknames. Cute though.

I'd recommend this as a fluffy read to anyone between darker stories. I'd read more by Laine.

(Spoiler: very disappointed he never bit her. Thought that was a sure thing with a vampire MMC.)

Bailey was an all-state softball player and she’s now the new social media manager for the Charleston Chompers.

Bats is the captain of the Chompers, he loves baseball but he doesn’t believe in the whole putting the team on social media thing cause he thinks it’s too gimmicky.

When Bailey joins the team, Bats is tasked with helping her come up with and execute a plan to grow the fan base and get more attendance at games. He’s not too thrilled by the idea of working with Bailey at first but eventually it’s not so bad. The more time he spends with her, the more time he spends thinking about her and the more he wants to be with her.

This book gave major savannah bananas 🍌 vibes with the dancing on social media concept. I loved the supernatural elements and the grumpy vs sunshine vibes between Bats and Bailey as well!

Overall a good read!

I really enjoyed this book. I've read Caroline Laine's other books and loved them, so I was so excited for this one and let me tell you it did not disappoint! I'm so thankful to have received an ARC of this book thank you so much Caroline Laine and Pen Pal PR. I could not put this book down. Bailey Lewis Sucks at Baseball is a paranormal romance that's grumpy × sunshine opposites attract where the FMC is the social media manager for a supernatural baseball team that the MMC is the captain of said baseball team. Bailey and Bats banter is amazing from the beginning and it had me hooked from the beginning. One thing I really love about Caroline Laine's writing is the world building. It is just always so good while also being fun. I cannot recommend this book enough. This is such a perfect paranormal romance, and I can't wait to see what's next for Caroline Laine!

Baseball with paranormals with some flair added in? So fun to read during spooky time!

Tropes:
⚾️ Grumpy x Sunshine
⚾️ Player x Social Media Manager
⚾️ Workplace Romance
⚾️ Secret Romance

All Bats wants is to play baseball, and be taken seriously. He has to help get more people at the games, or his team will trade him. This vampire has to work with Bailey, a half witch and the new social media manager, to get more attention to the team. Dragging his feet gets harder and harder the more Bailey catches his attention…

This book was fun! I loved how much Bailey was able to get Bats to open up, and slowly learn about his background. It was really sweet how she always wears his hat, and how he fights for her.

🌶️🌶️

Thank you, Caroline and Pen Pal PR, for sending me a copy of this book!

I am in love with Bailey and Bat so much and love their little rivals to lovers that happened. I always enjoy how much depth Caroline Laine adds to her characters, for example, hearing about Bat’s struggles with being a vampire, and Bailey’s struggles with her family and past relationships. I also love the strong friendships throughout the book and how close everyone is, I can’t wait to see who the next book is about!
The relationship between Bat and Bailey is so cute and he cares so deeply about her. They had me crying so much and getting so excited for them when they finally got together!
If you’re looking for a fun paranormal romance, this is the one for you. It was amazing and I will forever recommend Caroline Laine’s work to everyone!

Stars- ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This book was a mix between twilight and Savannah bananas, the MMC is a grumpy loner vampire while the WMC is a ray of sunshine who also happens to be a whitch , Bailey becomes a social media manager for the chompers which is a baseball team filled with plays who never made to the MLB , her best friends who work for the team get Bailey a job where she meets Bats who in on the team and fights her the whole way till realize that Bailey might be on to something. This was the cutest book I have read it had some spicy but diffidently not a lot, I throughly enjoyed reading it !

As a huge baseball fan, I really enjoyed this book. Bailey loves baseball and when she gets hired to help with pr and social media for the Chompers, she's excited. This is a SUPER team for all the paranormal people to be able to play since they came play for the MLB.

Bats is the captain of the team and not really a social media fan or trying to make baseball what it's not.

Bailey and Bats have this grumpy x sunshine vibe and the banter between them is so good. The love to hate and everything between them is so good. Also Bats starting to come around with the times and Bailey growing is so good. Such a fun book and my first by this author.

I'll be honest, the beginning of this book was a roller coaster for me. I loved it, but then I wasn't sure. If you get this vibe when you start, stick with it!
This book is an adorable love story with excellent character building. There is a supernatural element that takes a minute to take shape, but once it does, everything makes sense and adds a unique layer to the book. I love the friends of the main characters; they really round out the story.
-Grumpy/Sunshine
-Vampire/Witch
-Dream job
-Sports Romcom
-Cute baseball history/superstitions
-Grand romantic gesture

This was such a cute sports romance with just the right touch of paranormal and spice!

The worldbuilding was really interesting and I'm excited to see what else is in store for this universe!
Bailey and Bats were absolutely adorable. I loved their chemistry and the way their relationship grew throughout the story. And of course, we can’t forget Chipper Bones, who was the heart of the book! ❤️

A great read that I’d definitely recommend. I can’t wait to see what’s next!

Bailey is the new PR hire for the baseball team that Bats is the captain for and she has to get him onboard with all of her PR plans. That proves to be a challenge but he starts to come around to her plans and her charm. When he has to kiss her to fend off her ex-boyfriend the connection becomes more real. There are definitely steamy moments and great relationship development between them, but will she get to stay with the baseball team full time and stay with Bats? This book is a fun rom-com with a little paranormal and a bit of Savannah Bananas baseball feel.

Bats is a hundred year old vampiric baseball player, Bailey was just hired to be the Social Media manager for the team. He doesn’t like the idea of social media anything and does everything he can to make her job harder. Does he hate her? Does she hate him? This was a great little rom com!

This was my first book by Caroline Laine, and definitely not my last! I went in, not knowing what to expect, and ended up completely hooked. The banter, the slow-burn tension, the swoony moments… so good.

I loved the chemistry between Bailey & Bats. How she got him to come around and let people see he is more than just a grumpy-pants.

Hopefully we get a book about Woof and Gen.

Omg I am obsessed! Can we please get a story on Woof? The banter is so cute and I love how Bats can’t be grumpy around Bailey no matter how hard he tries. If you love vampires, and sports romance, with sass, this is for you!
