Seduce Me

Rate this book
Raw and honest, provocative and titillating, Dahlia Schweitzer's Seduce Me lays bare the secrets of desire in stories of sensuous encounters, illicit affairs, forbidden passions—and obsessive hungers that must be satisfied, no matter where or when they arise. In these vivid tales of lust without limits, the lines are blurred between fantasy and reality, propriety and necessity. There are no boundaries or taboos, only needs to be fulfilled. Here women and men risk everything in pursuit of sexual satisfaction—and business always mixes with pleasure.

DAHLIA SCHWEITZER is a writer, curator, educator, and performer. Her books, articles, concerts, and installations--found across mass/mainstream, critical/academic, and emergent/underground channels--touch upon themes of media and identity; sexuality and femininity; decay and reinvention. Sometimes her intention is to critique and suggest, others to transform and advance, and yet others to arouse and entertain.

Schweitzer's other works include erotic fiction (Seduce Me, Queen of Hearts, Breathe With Me, I've Been a Naughty Girl); cultural criticism (Some Kind of Monster: Cindy Sherman's Office Killer); impassioned essays in publications including Hyperallergic and The Journal of Popular Culture; and an album of electronic dance music (Plastique). A former resident of Berlin, Tel Aviv, and New York City, Schweitzer currently lives in Los Angeles. Here, in the city of angels (and devils), she teaches critical thinking and creative writing while working toward her PhD at UCLA.

You know how when you're in a large bookshop you walk past the trolleys with all the new stock on them (not necessarily new releases), and somehow the books seem shinier and newer and more alluring than the ones on the shelves, even though they're no different? And how you quickly scan through them as if there are books there that would otherwise be hidden from you? I do that all the time, I can't help myself. And one time, I saw this book on the trolley and plucked it forth and bought it. And a couple of years later, I finally read it.

This collection of short stories are all graphic erotica but leaning more towards the romance: the sex is almost always pretty straight-forward (nothing kinky except in the story "At Work"), and features both heterosexual and homosexual characters. Some of them I really enjoyed, while a few were rather forgettable. I probably enjoyed the kinky one, "At Work", the most - it switched perspectives between the two characters, and their completely different motivations and lies come out and make for a much more complex story than you think you're getting at first.

Overall, though, it was a rather disappointing collection, with some of the stories failing to connect with me at all, in terms of characters, relationships, caring about any of them. Sometimes short stories can be more intense and powerful than longer novels, but other times they just leave you shrugging. This was one of those.

This is a provocative and exciting collection of erotic short stories that lets you get inside the heads of the protagonists as they're busy getting inside each others' clothes. Schweitzer is forthright, both when dealing with motivation and with the steamier subjects exhibited here, so these are not only easy to read but easy to enjoy too.

Copyright 2006, this book is a part of Avon's Red series. It could be argued that Avon's Red series is actually mommy porn. This is a reread for me, but I haven't read it in a long while.

These are 13 short stories about sex. I don't have a lot of erotica to be able to judge whether it's good or not. I actually remembered some of the stories. The sex isn't really very kinky or shocking. It's mostly about desire. Although I can say I liked it, it's not something I REALLY liked.

Seduce Me by Dahlia Schweitzer is a fun adult read of a collection of graphic stories.

I suggest reading this by a cool swimming pool where you can jump in to diminish the STEAMY HEAT . I learned a lot of tricks to augment erotic romance. Only on Sundays method would be difficult to achieve.

Lesbian action with male observers followed by another story of groping in the office with lots of fluids released were enjoyable reads. Keeping stains off of clothing which would be recognized by other office co-workers or supervisors. Buttons flying, leashes, shouting, and lots of calculations to get more sex.

I laughed quite a bit.

I just plain cannot get into this book. I've tried over and over, and the stories all repeat the same sentences from the girl's view to the guy's view. Almost word for word. Very Boring. Even the stories aren't that good. I may try to read it later on, but for now, it's going on the shelf. LOL, in fact, I hate this book so much, I already added it to paperbookswap. I'd rather NOT try to read it. No takers, and the book also got not-so-good ratings on there, too

Oiy. This was not nearly as steamy as I think it wanted to be. I found myself skimming through most of it. I'm glad that I picked it up for under a buck.
