Reliving my past. Confronting my mother. Finding my family.
The summer before my senior year is a roller coaster of emotions, but I make it. I come out on the other side, stronger and ready to face my last year of San Francisco State University, when life takes another direction. The rock I’ve come to count on disappears emotionally and leaves me reeling. Will we find our way, or will I be lost and alone again?
Derek
Watching her pain. Lifting her up. Loving her strength.
The summer before my senior year is better than I could’ve imagined. Her strength knows no bounds and is truly inspiring to everyone around her. Then the phone call from my past comes and knocks me off my feet. Unable to look at her while dealing with this, I hide, like a coward. Will I get over this moment from my past, or will it drive a permanent wedge between us?
Lisa is a lifelong southern California resident. She's married to her high school sweetheart and they have two teenage children. While her husband coaches three high school sports, her son plays football and volleyball and her daughter dances both at school and at a studio. Their crazy schedules allow for some quiet time when she can write. Although, she does have her laptop with her almost everywhere she goes so that she can take advantage of little moments to write.
When she was a teen she was interested in sports journalism, but her life goals changed when she had children. After nurturing her children for many years, she finally took the leap to do some writing. Now that she's figured out that she can do it, there isn't much that will stop her from continuing.
Immediately after finishing the first book I went straight into the second book. I could not wait to get more of Derek and Lexi. I thought the first book was emotional but this one got me too. At times I was literally sitting there with my mouth open! At times I felt so sorry for both Lexi and Derek. We find out in the first book how much these two actually went through by suffering loses and tragedies affecting both their lives. Both Derek and Lexi are trying to move on from the pain by being happy with each other. Of course they still struggle in their relationship. Who wouldn’t suffer a little after everything they have been through? But Derek is so patient and loving with Lexi. Even though sometimes they get irrigated with each other, they are still trying to survive. There were a few parts in this book that literally made me want to jump into this book and slap people. Frustrated does not even cover it. Then there were times I was smiling so hard and I wanted to jump in and hug people. After reading this second book from Lisa I have learned she likes to bring out all emotions within. I don’t want to write a review with spoilers but if you haven’t read this series I highly recommend it. This series feels very real and raw and emotional and I can actually see this happening in real life. Once I finished reading I couldn’t wait for more. Then at the end it says Lexi and Derek were getting another book and I cannot wait to see how their story will play out. I am hoping for a beautiful happily ever after. They both deserve it!!!!

this story show us how lexi and derek grow together In life and in their relationship. we see them fight demons of the past together and of the future. hope to see more about this couple.
I loved the first book protecting Lexi so I was excited to read this one. 50% in was okay I did notice a lot of errors which don't tend to bother me, but I was reading and then all of a sudden it was a repeat of what I had already read a couple of chapters ago. it kinda of lost me to a point that I just wanted to finish it to see what the out come was. If it hadn't been for the editing errors it would have been a perfect read cause I love Lexi and Derek and I will continue to follow them. I hated to give a low rating but it just lost me.
First I have to say that Lexi and Derek are the sweetest characters! I love seeing their relationship develop as the story unfolds. Derek is exactly the person you would hope to have by your side to be your rock, your safe place to fall. This book continues Lexis struggle to overcome and move on from her past. it's amazing to see her start to come out on the other side. it gets super interesting towards the end and I can't wait for the next book. we will finally get see more of the pain that Derek holds in too.
I just love this story. These characters are just so sweet and I love reading about them. it is a great story lots of emotions but also has moments of happiness fun and romance. can't wait to read more about Derek and Lexi.
What can I say about Lexi and Derek other than I loved them in book one, and I loved them more in book two. Their story is hard, and emotional, and heart wrenching, and beautiful. You do not want to miss these beautifully written books. <3
"Loving Lexi" by Lisa Survillas - Wow! This one tugs at the heart! Ms. Survillas does an incredible job of brining the characters' emotions to life. I loved Lexi and Derek! Lexi - struggling with her pain yet a true person that I couldn't help but love. Derek - how could I not love Derek! He's her rock yet holds so much of his own pain inside. This one is an emotional roller coaster that had me wishing it would end but also wanting it to go on and on. This story has some deep emotions and situations that are dealt with, but it also has happy times and a love so sweet and true that I was swept up in the story and craved to read more and more. Now, I cannot wait until the next book! Thank you Ms. Survillas for creating such a wonderful pair of characters and a storyline that keeps the reader involved and entranced! Lexi and Derek move forward in their relationship and in their recovery from their horrible past.
I just love Derek. He always tries to do what is best for Lexi and is so patient with her. Both go through emotional development to help them move forward. There are sad tears and happy tears.
Lexi makes a few discoveries and reveals a few secrets that allow her family to heal. She is a strong young lady to have endured so much and still be looking towards her future.
Heavy subject matter but a good read.
