The Comeback Play: A Sweet Second Chance RomCom

Rate this book
A disgraced quarterback, a forgotten first meeting, and a second chance neither of them saw coming.

Drake
Getting benched was bad. Getting traded to Miami . . . worse.

The real disaster? Everyone thinking I’m a draft bust who only cares about PR stunts.

To prove them wrong, I need to clean up my image—starting with community service at Play It Forward.

The problem? Lyla Wilder, the program’s administrator, clearly hates me. And I have no idea why.

Lyla
Drake Blythe is exactly the kind of athlete I can’t stand—cocky, reckless, and completely unaware that we’ve met before.

Now, I’m stuck babysitting him while drowning in work my boss won’t do.

I refuse to fall for his charm. But the more I see of the man behind the headlines, the harder it is to remember why I wanted to stay mad in the first place…

The Comeback Play, a second chance novella, is book 8 of the Sweet Sports Kisses multi-author series—a sweet/clean romcom sports collection set across the U.S. Each story is connected through the Play It Forward organization, bringing heartwarming romance, humor, and just the right amount of competition. If you’re looking for a book that will tug at your heartstrings and leave you breathless, **The Comeback Play** by Tiffany Noelle Chacon is an absolute must-read. This beautifully crafted story follows Drake and Lyla, whose chance encounter blossoms into an intense and whirlwind romance. Their connection is immediate, drawing you in and allowing you to feel every flutter and ache alongside them.

However, be warned—this isn’t just a simple love story. It takes unexpected turns that will have you reaching for the tissue box. The novel explores the profound journey of self-discovery while simultaneously uncovering the love of your life. The emotional depth is remarkable; you’ll experience a rollercoaster of feelings, from joy to heartbreak and everything in between.

What’s truly captivating is how the characters navigate the complexities of accepting love while also learning the importance of saying no when it matters. Chacon’s writing will touch your heart in ways you didn’t think possible.

Don’t miss out on this heartfelt journey toward happiness. Grab a copy of **The Comeback Play**— I promise it will be worth every moment spent in its pages. This is more than just a story; it’s an experience that will resonate long after you turn the last page. I wholeheartedly recommend it!

Tiffany Chacon once again hits it out of the ball park when it comes to football! I loved the connections and references to Off the Bench. I loved watching Lyla and Drake fall for each other and realize their feelings. Seeing Drake get his redemption story was so sweet 😭 And I love that Lyla eventually gets validation from her parents.

Lyla works at Play It Forward and is seeking validation as one who can never say no. Drake is a washed up QB who gets a second chance in the NFL. The two meet one night, but are pulled apart and aren’t reunited until a year later. Lyla remembers Drake, but Drake can’t remember Lyla. Will sparks fly or burn?

Some of my favorite quotes from this book:

“You get a nickname! You get a nickname!”

“Sometimes you’ve got to stay in the pocket—even when it hurts—and trust that something beautiful will come out of it.”

Thank you for the ARC Tiffany Chacon. This review and all opinions are my own.

What a clean, flirty, swoonworthy, football romance. I love Tiffany’s writing. She knows how to put depth and relatability into the characters as well as swoon worthy moments. Drake’s bad boy flirty character at the beginning really pulled me into the story. I enjoyed watching him learn to do hard things and not run. Lyla is the sweetest and she also had a transformation from people pleaser to standing up for herself and learning to say no. Between Drake’s flirtiness and Lyla playing hard to get, I couldn’t put this one down and basically read it in a day. 💞

I also loved how this book ties into “Off the Bench” where we see Drake being arrested for a DUI and losing his QB position. If you haven’t read that one yet I highly recommend. But it’s not required to read before this book. If you like flirty, athlete, bad boy turned good then definitely read this book!

The Comeback Play is an emotionally charged story filled with wonderful characters and unknowns. The characters are relatable, and you will find yourself hoping they make the right choices. Our story opens with Lyla being given a makeover by her cousin, Hazel. The two of them have shared many experiences together, some that turned out good and some not so good. They have plans to attend an open mike at The Miami Improv to see a guy she met in her acting class. Now, Drake is already at the club, but he’s not enjoying it as much as his teammates, so he steps outside to get some air. As he’s trying to find other clubs to go to, “the most gorgeous brunette I’ve seen stumbles out the back door and into my arms.” He’s happy to see her. She doesn’t recognize him, and he finds this odd. Now, Drake is quite the charmer, and Lyla is eating up his attention. (He’s laying it on pretty thick; what an ego this guy has.) Luckily, Hazel comes out to see what’s taking her so long. Lyla is calling this unknown guy, Tattoo Guy, and he doesn’t know her name either. As it’s time for Lyla to leave, he asks her for her number, and she asks for his phone. Unfortunately, he left his phone in the car, so she writes her number on a cocktail napkin, and gives it to him. She never hears from him again.
Drake is now living in Florida, his partying and his actions on and off the field got him kicked off the field. He also lost the mysterious girl’s number, had to go to rehab, and is doing community service.
Now to the present. Lyla loves her job at the local Play It Forward chapter. Play It Forward is “a nationwide mentorship program dedicated to empowering kids through sports, leadership, and community.” Athletes volunteer to be mentors and work together at special events. She’s getting together the paperwork for a new athlete and sees that it’s Drake Blythe.
Drake has been picked up by the Dolphins, not that they’re a bad team, but they have “the least intimidating mascot in the National Football League.” The Dolphins have “decided they need me-the so-called bad boy rookie who ruined his first chance.” Drake is standing in front of his orangey rental home waiting on his landlord to bring him the keys. Drake has a new attitude and seems to have learned his lesson. He doesn’t want any more rehab, “no more wasting all my money on top shelf liquor and girls whose names I don’t remember.” He’s going to be spending time at Play It Forward as part of his community service requirement after being arrested for a DUI last year. His first impression there is not a good one, he’s late due to construction and traffic.
Lyla notices him right away, but he doesn’t seem to recognize her. How could he possibly have forgotten that night they met?! She’s all business with him and doesn’t even mention that they’ve met.
Will Drake remember who Lyla really is and that they have met before? If he remembers, will things change between them? Will Drake be a good mentor for the child that has been chosen for him? Will he be able to be a positive influence? You really don’t want to miss this wonderfully written story filled with great characters, a chance meeting years ago that may change their working relationship. Will Drake be able to participate in things without his recognition getting in the way? To find out these answers and so much more, get your copy of The Comeback Play by Tiffany Noelle Chacon today! This is my first book by Tiffany, but it won’t be my last!

I am really sad that this is the last novella in the Sweet Sports Kisses series, but it was the perfect one to end on. This was much more than a romance about a star athlete who needed an image adjustment. Both of the main characters had personal struggles that held them back from being the best they could be. It was so much fun to watch two people, who are so clearly opposite, challenge the other to be a better version of themselves.

Drake's professional football career is teetering on the edge of disaster, and his personal life is in shambles. He definitely needs everyone to see a new look, but it will have to be more than pictures. He will have to prove to those around him that he has truly changed. Working with the kid friendly Play It Forward organization seems perfect. He has no idea how much he is about to be challenged by a kid and a woman who just wants to do her job. He thought reading receivers and defense on the football field was challenging, but this newest task will make that look like a cake walk.

Lyla prefers to hang out in the background. Her personality and desire to please others has made her a doormat for her boss. When she realizes she will be in charge of Drake, she is not happy, for more than one reason.

My favorite scene was when she and Drake were locked together in the supply closet with glitter and glue. You will just to have read it to find out what I mean.

I loved everything about this sweet novella. The characters were outstanding, and it was refreshing to see flaws and all on display. However, it was also a sweet redemption story for both of them for two entirely different reasons. It definitely helped that this was a football romance. There were some humorous scenes, as well as tender scenes that will bring a tear to your eye. But most of all it was a feel good story that will leave you with a smile on your face.

I am still very intrigued by the mysterious man in charge of Play It Forward. I guess Milo was meant to remain mysterious to readers.

Thank you to the author for this ARC. I am leaving this review voluntarily.

🏈💄Arc Review: The Comeback Play by Tiffany Noelle Chacon @authortiffanynoellechacon
⭐ 5/5 stars for this heartfelt, clean, football-flavored redemption romance
The Comeback Play is like the final quarter of a homecoming game—tense, tender, and bursting with second chances. Tiffany delivers a story full of heart, healing, and the quiet kind of love that shows up when the crowds are gone.
Lyla is a heroine you’ll feel down to your soul. She’s not flashy, and she doesn’t want to be—she’s smart, self-aware, comfortable in her skin, and softly strong. With her love of history, language, and thoughtful routines, she reminded me what it feels like to see yourself on the page.

Drake, our former football star, is more than just the classic bad boy—he’s running a redemption route, one paved with regret, honesty, and the kind of conviction that comes when you want to be better, not just for someone else—but for yourself. His past may have cost him the game, but his future is all about the comeback.
Their story is a playbook of second chances, real-world healing, and a dash of Cinderella charm (yes, he doesn’t recognize her at first!). Together, they remind us that love isn’t about spectacle—it’s about steady grace, quiet growth, and learning how to show up.
If you love:
📣 Good girl / bad boy dynamics
🏟️ Friday night lights & redemption arcs
📚 Relatable, bookish heroines
💌 Second chances wrapped in sincerity
…then The Comeback Play is the touchdown your heart didn’t know it needed.
🎞️ Aesthetic Vibe:
A dusty closet filled with laughter, a homecoming game under golden lights, chunky glasses to hide behind, red lipstick smudged in a moment of courage, and the kind of hope that stands up after a fall.
⚠️ Content Warnings:
* Mentions of alcohol and DUI
* Kisses only — clean throughout
* Past relationships (handled gently and respectfully)
📖 Final Thoughts:
The Comeback Play is a tender, cleat-stained love letter to the ones trying again. To the girls who don’t feel “extra,” and to the boys who’ve fumbled—but fight to be more. Grace, growth, and a love that’s worth the replay.

Before I begin, I would like to thank Tiffany Noelle Chacon for allowing me to read a copy of her upcoming book, The Comeback Play, which is part of the multi-author Sweet Sports Kisses series and will be available on Amazon on June 25th, 2025.

Drake Blythe has been benched and traded to Miami. Everyone he encounters believes he will do anything for PR stunts, and he knows he has to change his image to save his career. Deciding to do community service at Play It Forward, he is stunned that the program administrator, Lyla Wilder, hates him and he doesn’t know why. Lyla hates arrogant and reckless athletes like Drake, especially when it’s clear he doesn’t remember that they’ve met before. She’s forced to babysit him while she does work that her boss refuses to do. There’s no way that she’s going to fall for his flirting, even when he starts to reveal the man behind his tarnished reputation. Right?

This book was lovely. You have Lyla Wilder, a kind, clever, hardworking, passionate, reserved, and beautiful young woman that’s overworked and does her best to help the kids at Play It Forward anyway she can. You have Drake Blythe, a strong, talented, determined, charming, and handsome professional football player that has to repair his reputation after making mistakes. This story sort of has the vibes of Travis Kelce x Taylor Swift meets Cinderella which was very interesting and lovely to read (Note: I am not really aware of that relationship other than memes in the past). The kid that Drake mentored was great, and I loved Lyla’s cousin Hazel. I sympathized with Lyla being overworked and having an incompetent boss. Milo was absolutely a delight, and I loved seeing the main characters develop confidence in themselves and what they wanted throughout the story. Overall, if you like football, Cinderella x Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift vibes, kids, and sweet second chance sports romance with low spice, then I would highly recommend this book.

I received an ARC from the author and even though I
wasn’t required to post a review upon reading it, I wanted to offer my honest, voluntary reaction to it.

Tiffany’s book is the 8th and final book in the Sweet Sports Kisses series dealing with athletes and an organization called Play It Forward. I have had the pleasure of reading each book in this series and I highly recommend not only this book but the series as ones I know you’ll enjoy reading!

This one concerns a pro athlete who because of his off field behavior finds himself needing to change his image after a night of partying lands him in jail and being traded to another team.

However, there is a silver lining to this story but it takes until the end for him to realize who he has thought of and tried to find for over a year is someone he has started to fall for in a completely different persona!

This is a sweet no spice story of second chance for love for two people who meet but due to circumstances never get together again until he shows up in front of her for his mentorship. She knows who he is but is hurt because he never called but she doesn’t know why.

As they work together she fights her conflicted feelings towards him but finally starts to allow herself to enjoy his company and we get to see what results from that decision!

I really enjoyed this book and again I highly recommend it and also recommend you consider getting the entire series to read and enjoy as well.
If you love romance with no spice dealing with athletes in different sports I know you’ll enjoy this series.

I always enjoy Tiffany's books. She is great with characterisation, humour and crafting relatable characters. This was an engaging read.

Lyla and Drake first meet one evening and feel an instant connection, but they don't meet again until a year later and he's forgotten what she looks like. Lyla is pretty annoyed with him when they meet for the second time, and he can't figure out why.

I loved Lyla's character. She was relatable as a people-pleaser, and over the course of the book she grew the courage to stand up for herself. Drake's character growth was also wonderful to read about as he became determined to stick it out, do hard things and not run. The dynamic between these two was usually charged, with him being flirty and her annoyed, but neither able to deny the attraction they have towards each other.

I loved the tie in to 'Off the Bench'. We first meet Drake there when he loses his spot as starting quaterback due to his drunken arrest. If you haven't read that one you should read it too! It has the same engaging writing, characterisation, chemistry and humour.

Tropes:
*second chance
*insta-attraction/connection
*flirty MMC
*stuck in a closet together
*redeption arc
*nicknames
*dual POV
*novella length

Content warning: arrest for DUI (past), difficult relationship with parents
Romance level: 3 (moderate kisses)

The Comeback Play is the eighth book in the Sweets Sports Kisses series. This is a multi-author series with each book centering around a different sport, but all connected through the Play It Forward organization. As such, they can be read in any order or as standalones.

Talk about ending this series on a high note--- this one certainly did just that! Drake and Lyla had a super cute meeting and undeniable chemistry, so she gives him her number... and he doesn't call. And when he shows up at her workplace- Play It Forward- to become a mentor and change his image, it seems like he doesn't remember her. I don't want to give too much away, but I'll just say that Drake had a good reason for not calling (and his need for good PR) that honestly could have made him unlikable in the beginning... but it was through this that we got to see his growth throughout the story. And he wasn't the only one, Lyla also had her own challenges that she needed to grow from throughout the story as well. I couldn't help but root for both of them. And that initial chemistry? Yeah, it didn't disappear either. These two were really sweet together and I found this to be a really cute addition to this fun series.

The Comeback Play is a closed-door romance with kisses only. It does have very minimal minor language and mentions of alcohol abuse.

**ARC received for consideration. All opinions are my own.

This was a tale of second chances. Drake was the bad boy rookie playing for Tampa Bay when he ends up arrested on a DUI, fined, benched, rehabbed and dropped. A year later, he's given a second chance with the Miami Dolphins and community service with the Play It Forward charity, surprisingly being put forward as a mentor to a young boy.

Lyla is an administrative assistant to the manager of Miami’s branch of Play It Forward. She’s great at what she does, but she seems to do more of her boss Cathy’s work than she does herself. A year ago, she had an encounter with Drake at a nightclub; they danced, they had many sparks of chemistry, and almost kissed until they were dragged apart. She gave him her number, but he never called. Now she has to work with him as part of his community service, and he seems to have no recollection of her at all. So now she’s annoyed, but she starts to see the good in him as he works hard to shake his bad-boy rep.

Drake was adorable. Even though he didn’t recognise Lyla as the same girl whom he nicknamed Red (for her smeared lipstick), he still fell for Lyla in a big way. He also worked hard at being a mentor, despite a few early false starts, and he found a way to get through to the troubled young boy. I loved Lyla’s sass and fiestiness, which only came out when she was around Drake. He brought out the worst best in her.

Loved the little nod to Austin from ‘Off The Bench’ too.

Oh, Drake and Lyla! This kisses-only football romance was such a heartfelt story of second chances, personal growth, and finding someone who truly sees and supports you.

Lyla works behind the scenes in the Play It Forward organization, quietly keeping things running and constantly putting others first - sometimes at the cost of her own peace. Drake, a recently traded football player and reformed bad boy, is determined to prove that he’s not the man he used to be. Newly sober and trying to rebuild his life, he is very drawn to Lyla but doesn’t feel deserving.
Their “forgettable” first meeting was such a great moment - it had me rooting for them both right away. I loved how Drake saw Lyla’s efforts and appreciated her in a way others often overlooked. And I loved how Lyla, despite being wary, gave him the space and support to show that real change is possible.

This was a sweet, flirty, and fun romance that also carried a gentle weight. A lovely story about two people learning that sometimes the best kind of love is the one that comes after the hard work - and that second chances can be worth everything.

This was a great ending to a sweet series!
I read this as an advanced copy.

Drake and "Layla" meet at a Miami Improv just as Drake's career as a professional football player is about to take off and, while she makes a distinct impression on Drake, unfortunately, that is the same night where his career is derailed by a DUI, getting arrested and getting fired by his team, as well as losing her phone number. Fast forward one year and, in order to rehabilitate his image, he becomes involved with the Play it Forward organization, where Lyla works. Lyla, unbeknownst to him, is the mysterious "Layla" that he met the night his life fell apart.
This is a wonderful novella, with themes of redemption,, service to others as well as what can happen when we focus more on the superficial rather than what really matters. Drake is cocky, yet humble enough to realize when he needs to change. Lyla is a lot shy and unable to set boundaries with her boss at the beginning but, by the end of the book, she comes into her own and her assertiveness gets her not only the position she wants but also the approval from her parents that she is longing for. While this book is part of a series, it can be completely read as a stand alone.
I had never read a book by this author before but I am now so looking forward to her other books to read!

A disgraced quarterback, a forgotten first meeting, and a second chance neither of them saw coming—The Comeback Play delivers all the clean, flirty, football romance vibes your heart could want.

Drake Blythe is the perfect blend of cocky bad boy and soft-hearted swoon once you get past his rough start. After being benched, traded, and branded as a PR disaster, Drake’s redemption arc takes him straight to Play It Forward—and directly into the path of Lyla Wilder, a program administrator who can’t stand him… or so she says.

Lyla’s journey from overworked people pleaser to bold and boundary-setting was just as compelling as Drake’s image makeover. Their chemistry? Off the charts. Between Drake’s relentless flirting and Lyla’s resolve to play it cool, I flew through the pages—devouring this in a day!

Tiffany Noelle Chacon weaves heart, humor, and growth into this story. I especially loved the connection to Off the Bench, where we first see the fallout from Drake’s DUI and career crash. You don’t have to read that one first—but if you have, you’ll love seeing how things come full circle.

If you’re into athlete romances with emotional depth, second chances, and flirty banter that will leave you grinning, The Comeback Play is an absolute win.

This book was such a sweet and uplifting read. It’s part of the Sweets Sports Kisses series, but you can definitely read it as a standalone.

The story follows Drake, a pro football player trying to fix his public image after a rough patch in his career. He ends up volunteering at Play It Forward, a mentorship program for kids, and that’s where he runs into Lyla—someone he met once before.

I loved the dynamic between Drake and Lyla. Their chemistry was there from the start, but what really stood out to me was how they both grew throughout the story. Drake isn’t just a cocky athlete—he’s trying to be better, and you can really see that. Lyla, on the other hand, is used to staying in the background and doing what’s expected of her.

There’s also a great mix of humour, heart, and just enough tension to keep things interesting. The scenes with the kids at Play It Forward were especially touching, and I liked how the story showed that real change takes effort and time.

This is a clean romance, so it’s all about the emotional connection and character development, which I really appreciated.

What a fantastic way to end this series! Second chances is one of my favorite tropes and this book nailed it!

Drake and Lyla meet and have an immediate connection but he ends up losing her number and since she never told him her name, he doesn’t have much to go on. A year later fate intervenes and he ends up at Play It Forward where she works. Unfortunately, he doesn’t remember what she looks like, and her appearance is different so he doesn’t recognize her. She is mad and embarrassed and thinks he doesn’t remember her so she is hostile towards him, but the same spark is still there and eventually they grow closer.

I love that he helps her learn to stand up for herself and she makes him want to be a better person. They have both grown so much as people by the end of the book. There are so many sweet and tender moments between them throughout the story. I swooned when he first helped her with her lipstick when they met!

In every book of this series, I’ve enjoyed the backdrop of Play It Forward and the athletes mentoring kids. The appearance of Milo is always an experience! I highly recommend this book and series!

Is a sweet second chance, opposites attract, football romance with no cliffhanger.
Some of the lines I really like --- “Yeah, well, brain cells melt in football. Guess we all have our struggles.” --- "that’s indifference you’re thinking of—hate is passion, which is a cousin of love.” --- “Can’t stop thinking about me? It’s okay—happens to the best of us,” --- “You know what they always say: WD-40 fixes doors and broken hearts,” --- I hope this gives you the courage to say no to the things you need to say no to—and yes to love. — Sometimes you’ve got to stay in the pocket—even when it hurts—and trust that something beautiful will come out of it. --- “We can only meet people where they are—with the information we’ve got. ---
What's Hazel up to? What's Cathy up to? What's LJ up to? Will Mr. and Mrs. Smith ever appreciate Lyla? These and other questions will all be answered.
I loved Lyla and Drake's story and I'm sure you will too. I've loved everyone of her books that I've read and can't wait to read her next book.

The Comeback Play is clean, second chance, sports romance. I loved the changes in Drake's character - especially as he tries to connect with LJ, the teen he has been assigned. I was not sure how/why Play It Forward put a hockey fan with a football player, but eventually it works out quite well for both LJ and Drake. Our sassy, over-worked heroine, Lyla, is quite upset with Drake for ghosting her after they met before Drake's fall from grace and for not recognizing her now. I was really rooting for these characters. Ms. Chacon, a new to me author, did an amazing job with the story line. She redeemed everyone except Lyla's boss (who did not need to be redeemed)! Watching Drake grow and watching the new romance between Lyla and Drake kept my attention as I devoured this well written book. Milo really shines in this story. I am going to miss this series. I will be reading more books by Ms. Chacon!

A great wrap up to the Sweet Sports Kisses series!

This book was all sorts of adorable and had great character development and growth, too!

Lyla is a force to be reckoned with. She starts so timid and shy - “mousy” in her words - and by the end she knows what she wants and how to get it! Seeing her figure out how to put aside her people-pleasing tendencies and stand up for herself was amazing. We love a strong woman!

Drake has a LOT to make amends for in his life, both personally and professionally. I loved watching him mature and figure out how to make things right. It was especially fun to see how he figured out how to work with LJ, his mentee at Play It Forward. He was trying SO hard and it just kept going wrong, until it didn’t.

This second chance football romance is a great quick read (2-ish hours for me) and the perfect wrap on the Sweet Sports Kisses multi-author series.

I received a digital ARC of this book. It’s part of the sweet sports kisses series, but they are all stand alone books. They have a sports children’s charity that is in each story. Drake & Lyla meet one night at a comedy club and hit it off, but Drake doesn’t get her name and he loses the napkin she put her number on. A year later, he walks into her work at the charity. Lyla knows who he is because he’s a famous football player, and he had given his name that night. But he doesn’t recognize Lyla because she’s wearing glasses and her hair is different. Will there still be sparks? Will Drake figure out she was the woman from that night a year ago? You’ll have to read to find out. This is my first time reading this author, but it won’t be the last. I read this book in one day. If you like Hallmark movies, you’ll enjoy this book!

A fun sweet book of the results of a chance meeting that was not forgotten. Lyla had agreed to go out with Hazel, her cousin, not as she usually dressed but in clothes and makeup selected by Hazel. Little did she expect to meet Drake, a professional football player, she gave her number but no name. One year later, Lyla has given up on ever hearing from Drake, when she is informed that Drake has been assigned to work with her employer as a mentor for a child. When Drake walks in Lyla seems familiar but he can’t place her but that doesn’t effect the attraction he feels towards her. Lyla, however, is upset that he didn’t call and now does not recognize her. As they work together will anything be resolved? A fun second chance, mistaken/forgotten identity story. I received an early copy and this is my honest review.

This novel delivers a heartfelt story of redemption, romance, and resilience.

The dual narrative voice adds depth, allowing insight into each protagonist’s emotional journey.

The dialogue sparkles, in particular their flirtatious exchanges and emotional confrontations.

The book’s strength lies in its character development and emotional arcs.

While the middle section lingers a bit too long on mentoring setbacks, the story regains pace with renewed stakes.

Secondary characters like LJ and Hazel add colour but could use more depth.

There is too much narrative, with some info-dumps, explanation by internal monologues, and the like.

Fans of contemporary romance and sports drama will enjoy this well-paced, emotional novel.

It’s a feel-good story that explores second chances with sincerity and charm. Recommended.

I received a free copy of this book as part of the ARC review team. This is the first book of Tiffany Noelle Chacon's that I've read.
I felt like it had a solid storyline, with fast-paced chapters, and the FMC was likeable. Her character arc with her job was great and I loved the way she and the MMC were shoved together because of her work.
Honest opinion, I didn't particularly like the MMC. He was a kind of a bad guy who made dumb choices and he had no "save the cat" moment to show he had any redeeming qualities, so it was hard to get into the romance because I felt like the FMC could've done so much better.
That being said, the MMC does change throughout the book, so by the end of it I was okay with him but it took a while.
If you enjoy sports romances with redemption subplots and a slight hidden identity trope, this would be a good one to check out.

Book 8 in the Sweet Sports Kisses series, a stand-alone, connected by the Play it Forward organization. Disgraced QB Drake Blythe is making his comeback, he’s had a year to recover, attend rehab, relocate and reevaluate his life, but on the night before it all changed, he met a girl but lost her number… and that girl, she didn’t forget. Lyla is an assistant at the Play if Forward organization, and won’t make it easy for Drake when he joins the mentoring program. Working together gives them a second chance at love, for Lyla to forgive and for Drake to remember. A super sweet kisses only story to close of this series.

I voluntarily reviewed a free advance copy of this book provided by the author. The opinions expressed are my own

What an engaging story about a football player, who's partying ways catch up with him on the same night he meets a woman who makes him think about becoming a better man. Of course, he loses her number and can't contact her although he wants to. When he walks into Play it Forward and doesn't recognize her, she thinks poorly of him and doesn't fawn all over him like others do. He does feel an instant connection to her, and as they spend more time together, she realizes he is more than he seems and is fighting his own demons.

I love the redemption arc, the secret identity elements, and how Layla starts to realize her own worth. I really enjoyed this series!

This is my first book by Tiffany, and I will definitely read more!

This is one of the most beautiful and well done redemption arcs I have read in a while. If you haven’t read Off the Bench, do so, and then come read this book. (You don’t HAVE too, but it makes it that much richer). Fun, flirty, fantastic!

Drake is trying to recover from a bad reputation. He has turned his life around, including becoming a mentor at Play it Forward. He meets Lyla and doesn’t remember that he has already met her. Can he redeem himself in her eyes?

Highlights:
Dino chat 😁🦖
The hockey rink 😂
Sweetness at the gazebo 🥰

I love Lyla for being smart and figuring out her boundaries. I love her compassion and her passion for helping the kids in the program.

I love Drake for being determined and patient. I love that he can be flirty, but he also knows when to listen.

This is my first book by this author, and I absolutely loved it, I didn’t want to put the story down. This is part of the Sweet Sport Kisses series and the Play it Forward organization. Drake and Lyla meet at a comedy club and the chemistry is so sizzling. She gets his name, but she doesn’t give him anything but her number on a napkin. A year later they meet at the Play if Forward office where she works and he is required to mentor a youth. He doesn’t recognize her when they meet again, and she thinks he is just a cocky NFL QB. Can they find love? Does he finally remember her? Read this fantastic story to find out, you will love it, sweet, swoony, humor and romance.

This is a fun and sweet sports romcom. I enjoyed the characters. It was a second chance romance Drake was a football player that had met the girl of his dreams when he let her slip away. He also let his team down and decided he needed to remake himself. Lyla was a hard worker and passionate about the play it forward organization, where professional sports team players, mentor disadvantaged children. This organization is part of the entire series of books. This is the last book of the series and just as entertaining as the others. Each book can be read as a standalone. They also all have clean romance, witty, banter, sport minded, and great mentorship.

save the best for last?

Omg this might have been my favorite of the bunch! Drake and Lyla are perfect. Once I started I couldn’t put it down. I literally read it in one sitting. I just kept waiting for drake to take off the glasses or Lyla to forget to wear them! But the way Red and Blue mixed together to reveal Purple was the best. It was subtle and perfect the two colors blending to the one true. Drake not only talked the talk, but he walked the walk. He truly changed himself to be the best version and to encourage Lyla to be the best version of herself. 10/10.

I would recommend this to anyone who loves sweet closed door romances. A guaranteed happily ever after.
