In Title Pending, Justin McRoberts shares stories and insights from his own creative journey. Since 1998, he's been honing his craft on the road as a songwriter, speaker, author and an advocate. For the first time, Justin shares the disciplines of his own creative process and the principles that will help you in your next creative endeavor.
Justin McRoberts is an author, coach, speaker, and songwriter. He is the author of six books, including the upcoming, Sacred Strides (May 2023).
For over 20 years, Justin has helped artists, ministers and entrepreneurs find their way. From the stage, though his stories in books or during coaching sessions, he leans on his years of work and expertise as a minister and artist to help individuals and teams solve problems in their creative processes.
When he’s not writing, speaking or coaching, you can find him as the host of the At Sea Podcast.
Justin McRoberts shares his creative process in this slim book. Title Pending isn't a manifesto, just a few thoughts on how to get from vision to final product and things to watch out for or look forward to along the journey. If you are feeling a little stuck, this is a great book to help you through. Probably all stuff you know but need to be reminded of. Over and over. The stuff we think we've learned (making art is hard work) until the next time we start on a new project and are once again surprised that it doesn't come together quickly and easily. I've already purchased a copy to give away.
P.S. I gave the book three stars because I feel like it is trying to be a three star book. It absolutely and completely met my expectations and the lack of five stars shouldn't be taken as a criticism. It's like a peanut butter and jelly sandwich can be super yummy but it is still a PB&J. Does that even make sense to anybody outside my head?
McRoberts has a great writing voice that makes you feel like you’re sitting at a cafe chatting about the creative process. Somewhat repetitive towards the last half. He uses really interesting examples from other creatives throughout the book, it adds to the inspirational feel of the book (learning about others’ processes).
Would recommend to friends looking for a creative pick me up :)
Love this sophomore release by McRoberts. Great read — one I'll pass along to others and keep nearby for future reference and reminders.
We all have good art to share...if we take the time to learn how to do it well and make sharing it an important part. McRoberts shares practical thoughts from his own processes that resonate incredibly well for anyone, I believe, who wants to create.
