While in Berlin on a mission, Mack Bolan stumbles upon a breakdown in the U.S.-German intelligence network, as well as a deadly plot by ex-Soviets and German neo-Nazis. Original.
Don Pendleton was born in Little Rock, Arkansas, December 12, 1927 and died October 23, 1995 in Arizona.
He wrote mystery, action/adventure, science-fiction, crime fiction, suspense, short stories, nonfiction, and was a comic scriptwriter, poet, screenwriter, essayist, and metaphysical scholar. He published more than 125 books in his long career, and his books have been published in more than 25 foreign languages with close to two hundred million copies in print throughout the world.
After producing a number of science-fiction and mystery novels, Don launched in 1969 the phenomenal Mack Bolan: The Executioner, which quickly emerged as the original, definitive Action/Adventure series. His successful paperback books inspired a new particularly American literary genre during the early 1970's, and Don became known as "the father of action/adventure."
"Although The Executioner Series is far and away my most significant contribution to world literature, I still do not perceive myself as 'belonging' to any particular literary niche. I am simply a storyteller, an entertainer who hopes to enthrall with visions of the reader's own incipient greatness."
Don Pendleton's original Executioner Series are now in ebooks, published by Open Road Media. 37 of the original novels.
I hate to be so mean, but this was the worst Bolan book I ever read. One of the worst action books as well. I never read anything by Roland J. Green before. I see that he wrote more sword and sorcery type books. I think he should of stuck to that genre. He wrote a few Executioner novels in the 90's too. I'm not a fan of that decade of Bolan books, so I won't read them anyway. What scares me is that I see hee wrote two SOB's novels. One of my favorite series from Gold Eagle. I hope those turn out better.
The plot, if you can call it that, has to do with project gamma. Russians trying to cause havoc in Germany so they can take over again?! They plan to use some chemical gas to do this. We also get neo-nazi skinheads. Right wing German groups join in. We also get Russian spetsnaz agents. Germans acting as Russians and Russians acting like Germans. There's a Green party that want's all weapons destroyed that mix in this mash.
It seems that project gamma is foiled less than half way through this book. Not much is made of it. So why keep going with the book? I still can't tell you. I have to be honest, I sleep read through a better part of this. Being so complicated and very, very boring. Mack Bolan has never been so dull and uninteresting. Avoid like the outbreak of the Fourth Reich.
