Wooohooh!

ADDICTION has the heat factor, the unpredictable story line, and the heart-attack-inducing book boyfriend all in one. And being that I write books myself, I’m so relieved whenever I hit one that’s got GREAT writing and tight editing too. Throughout this read, I hit the full spectrum of emotions. I laughed at Tristan’s sexy antics. I was upset, touched, sad, and then really freaking happy!

I’m one of the few who haven’t read Distraction, book 1, but Angela McPherson did an excellent job catching me up on the necessary events without having to resort to boring summaries. I’m going back for more Tristan and Elle, though, because the author has created an absolutely sizzling chemistry between the main characters.

In my reads, I love to find unexpected turns of events… that are not outlandish. I want them to be believable and yet new to me. Interesting—to the point of sucking me in. Nowadays, with the amount of books I read, this is hard to accomplish, and yet somehow ADDICTION managed it with ease.

In addition to the writing and the plot twists, what gets ADDICTION up on my little sucks-you-in shelf of books, is that the characters are relatable: life throws the unimaginable Tristan’s and Elle’s way, a huge issue many families at some point have to face in this country.

Their attempt at dealing with the “issue” had my pulse quickening. They were both maddening, and yet so understandable. But thankfully, what happens is that… yeah-no: I don’t do spoilers. Better read for yourself. ;)

Let me just finish by saying: this book? Comes highly recommended by me. Once you start, you’ll want to clear the day. It is, as its title suggests—

ADDICTIVE.

A big thank you to the author for providing an advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review! This does not affect my opinion of this book or the content of my review

WARNING: If you have NOT read book one Distraction, there are minor, unavoidable spoilers in this review.

Me Throughout This Book:

Addiction picks up just hours after the end of Distraction. Tristan and Elle are on their way home for Christmas dinner and everything is perfect in the world. Or so they think. Heather, Elle's sister who Tristan secretly helped get into rehab for her drug addiction, is coming home sober for Christmas much to Elle and her mother's surprise. Tristan is determined to stand up to his father and profess his feelings for Elle to his family. When circumstances beyond their control occur, Elle and Tristan's perfect world falls apart.

I cannot say just how much I adore Elle and Tristan. They are just perfect! In book one I had a real love-hate relationship going on with them as neither wanted to confess their feelings for each other. In fact it was literally painful to read, but at the same time I couldn't sit it down. This addition to their story is no different. Tristan is finally grounded in his relationship with Elle, he feels whole in a way he never has before.

Elle feels the same, but after she learns that Tristan hid his involvement with Heather from her (you know the whole helping her into rehab thing) after she cried for months looking for her, well it kind of blows up in his face.

The story really centers around the fall of their perfect world and Elle's struggle to pull herself together. I can't say much about the plot without major spoilers :? What I can say though is I started the book on an emotional high, about mid-way I hit rock bottom and kept falling. This installment tore at my heart in a way a book hasn't in a long time. The emotions that come through in the author's writing resonated with me and just had me sobbing (you know like puffy eyes and red nose, hiccup sobbing....the ugly crying).

Overall, I love the series and this installment just adds depth to two already amazing characters. I will warn you though, it is short, not novella short, but short enough to read in one sitting. While there are some sexual scenes and strong language, it doesn't stand out in the story. The story is about the characters and Tristan and Elle are written so well they could be real. And that my friends is a feat all of its own that the author has achieved. If you've not read book one of this series, I highly suggest you do that before picking up this book as you may find yourself lost. If you enjoy New Adult, contemporary romance, I highly suggest you check it out.

Addiction was an amazing sequel to Distraction. Talk about this book having a major shocker. I think I pretty much cried through most of the book. I honestly didn't see that coming at all. I loved how Angela used three different POVs with this story. It was nice to be on the inside and understand what is really going on with them. How they are truly feeling. Why they do what they do. What I loved about Addiction was how raw and real it felt. I was able to feel everything the characters felt, especially the love and pain. I would love to have Tristan and Elle as friends. They didn't seem fake at all. They made decisions that anyone of us would make,

Tristan and Elle are the cutest couple ever. Their relationship grew so much since the first book. They can't stand to be away from each other realizing how addicted they are to one another. After a shocking tragedy, their relationship is truly tested. It was nice to be able to read from Heather's point of view to see the struggles she truly faced. I loved how she tried to turn her life around for herself and her family. I loved seeing those happy moments with them again.

Addiction was a fantastic read full of romance, loss and forgiveness. I was completely hooked from the very beginning and could not put this book down. This story definitely took me on an emotional roller coaster ride. The only little issue I had with this book was I was waiting for something major to happen. It just seemed like I was waiting on something important to happen and there wasn't anything. Don't get me wrong, I still loved the book and will definitely reread, but it just felt as if something was missing. I am hoping that there will be another sequel so I can continue reading about these characters!!! Hoping, hoping, hoping!!!! Great job Angela!!!!

Addiction was the second in the distraction series and usually from a second they tend to disappoint me but I have to say this didn't, it still had the chemistry the feistiness and the love and list throughout same as the first and it kept me reading.

I'm glad to see the characters personalities never changed.

Alyssa was still the snappy attitude filled fun troubled self but in this book we saw her softer side and we saw her being supportive of Elle when she needed it most. It was also nice to see her usual feistiness shining through in certain situations.

Tristan was still obnoxious, arrogant and sweet which is just his character and I loved that the chemistry between him and Elle didn't diminish the arguments between them showed so much passion. When Tristan and Elle had some difficulties in their relationship they really struggled and it was written so well that you felt the heartbreak through both Tristan and Elle's perspectives.

Elle was struggling with a lot of pressure in this book and she just well broke, she was so vulnerable and so scared it was hard to read and so realistic to read it was great to see her more vulnerable less together side of herself. She was very self critical and blamed herself for a lot of the events and it felt like she was trying to punish herself for some of them.

Heather was struggling to find herself again after her journey with drugs and seemed to find her feet a little before the dark thoughts took hold of her and convinced her she wasn't worthy, she kept a lot back from Elle thinking that she was being a burden and envying her.

At times this book was hard to read, it touched so sensitively on such touchy subjects that it was realistic and relatable, grief anger love and betrayel very evident it was a roller-coaster of a ride and it drew me in, I didn't want to stop reading this not ever. It was brilliant.

In Distraction we met Elle, the sweet girl who plays the mother role in her broken up family. Her best-friend Tristan happens to be the star wide-receiver at his college and the boy she loves but has never had the courage to tell him her true feelings. When Tristan ends up switching to Elle's school he brings along a fiancé and reconnects with his best-friend,but in the process he also opens doors to his feelings that he can no longer run away from.

Distraction has boatloads of sexual tension and took the reader on whirlwind romance that by the end we are left satisfied but there is more story left to be told.

And that ladies and gentlemen takes us to Addiction!

This book blew me away with a plot that I dare say surpassed Distraction and kept me glued to my chair until the very end. McPherson's storytelling is beyond brilliant and this book makes my Top Reads of 2014 list!

First, I loved...no, I adored Tristan in this story! He's sweet, sexy, charming with just a touch of bad boy and that just made for an all day swoon-fest!

Second, about the halfway point in Addiction we are hit with a gut-wrenching blow that I never saw coming. The best way to describe it was like hitting a Mack truck-head on. Bam! I cried and literally felt such sorrow that I was in a book slump for DAYS!

Third, many secrets are revealed, ones that are shocking but yet, make sense. Now, I have read hundreds upon hundreds of books and I can always figure out the what and why's but not with this one.

If your a fan of the New Adult genre then I HIGHLY recommend this series. It's truly brilliant and I can't wait to see where we will go from here! Well done Mrs.McPherson, well done!

So you really have to read the first book, Distraction, if you want to fully enjoy this book. If you don't, you won't know the backgrounds of the characters and etc. I won't spoil anything though, so no worries. =)

I loved this book! I mean, I loved Distraction as well, but I'm soo glad that this book did not disappoint.

There was life in this book! Sometimes there are stories that are spanned into several books and is unnecessary, but McPherson has done it once again! She was able to make the story interesting and found a way to get to you when the time was appropriate.

One reason why I loved this book was because there were "new" characters introduced. I put the word new in quotes because the characters were either mentioned or appeared in book 1, but was not focused on too greatly. In Addiction, you get to learn more about them and their stories without having to read a different book based on solely them (although, that would totally be nice, too ;)).

Reading more of Tristan & Elle really made my night. I finished it in one sitting, and I would do it all over again (Hmm... maybe I will...)! Definitely a must-read (After you read Distraction, of course, hehehe)!

OMG! Angela McPherson blew my mind with this book. If you read Distraction YOU HAVE TO READ ADDICTION! I loved Distraction but I'm obsessed with Addiction. This author did an incredible job depicting such a horrific and completely devastating topic with such attention and care. Even though she ripped my heart out, I understand why she did it and commend her for taking on such a delicate subject. I fell more in love with Tristan and Elle and can not wait for the next book. She has quickly become a favorite author of mine.

Addiction is the story of Elle's and Tristan's love. Tristan's love for Elle is unconditional, but a secret he kept from her about her sister Heather may tear them apart. Addiction will make you cry. It is filled with pain, heartache, and loss. Elle must overcome her feelings of betrayal and guilt before she can pursue her relationship with Tristan, and Tristan is determined to let Elle know he will be there when she is ready.

A great read! I am eager to find out what happens between Elle and Tristan in Distraction Book 3.

ADDICTION BY: ANGELA MCPHERSON
★★★★★5-HEART BREAKING STARS★★★★★
*COPY PROVIDED BY AUTHOR IN EXCHANGE FOR AN HONEST REVIEW*

This is a continuation to Distraction. Elle and Tristan's chaotic life continues, you are in for more than what you think heartbreak could be. Elle goes through what she went through put them in such a hard predicament. Their story in this book just broke my heart completely. Angela broke my heart into million pieces. There were a lot of times that I just wanted to knock some sense into Elle and slap the crap out of Tristan or maybe just Elle(winks).

 photo addiction-2_zps35e92ef4.jpg

Elle had to deal with her sister Heather's addiction. All hell broke loose when something tragic happens and it affects Elle's relationship with Tristan. Pushing him to his limits is what really made me want to pull Elle's hair, hated her so much on some of her bad decisions. BUT not everyone deals with problems the same way. Some could just be in denial and act like the day is no different than the other. Some go crazy wanting to end their life. Well, we're all human. We make bad decisions and sometimes it's the only way for us to learn our lessons. THE HARD WAY.

 photo addiction-5_zps201f4ddf.jpg

Tristan's love for Elle was unbreakable. No matter how many days, weeks or months he put off not seeing Elle, he's true to himself. When he loves someone, he loves deeply. And the only person he ever loved, who truly owns his heart since way before he reach puberty, is ELLE. He will do anything in his power to help her heal. Even if it means being away from her. Willing to sacrifice for her just shows you how far he will go to be with her forever.(swoon)

I cannot recommend this highly enough. I loved Elle and Tristan from the beginning and I cannot get enough of them. I am looking forward to reading more of Angela Mcpherson's writing. I just love her to death.

☆☆☆☆☆ 5 Sexy Tristan Stars ☆☆☆☆☆

Addiction is a continuation story about best friends turn lovers Ellen and Tristan’s story. This book is full of sweet, sweet love between the two characters. It is also full of emotional drama with not only Elle and Tristan, but with Elle’s family.

The beginning of the book was all about the lovers sexy time together, Elle and Tristan could not get enough of each other. The love they had for each other, is the kind of love that gives you butterflies in your stomach. They also were on each other every chance they got. They never wanted to be apart, it was even hard for them to stay apart for a night.

 photo Addiction-Teaser1.jpg

Everything was perfect between the lovers, they were even getting along with each others parents..which was a complete shock to both of them. They thought they were on top of the world, until a tragic incident pulled them away from their perfect world. With secrets being revealed and trust being lost, what will they do?

Yes they are completely in love with each other, but will love be enough for them to stay together?
Read and find out.

This was a short read, once I got started I couldn’t put it down. I needed to know what happens next, the story kept me hooked until the very last page. I love Tristan so much in this book, no matter what Elle was going through and how much she pushed him away, he wouldn’t quit. He was very much in love with Elle and would do anything for her, even wait until she found herself again.

I can’t wait for the next book. Thx for sharing your book with me Angela. <3

I was over the top to finally get to dive more into this series. This author had the ability to keep you the reader tied by your heartstrings to these two characters-Tristan and Elle. They are headed home for the holidays and looking forward to being with other too. Right away this author had you glued again because as soon as Elle she gets a call from her sister. She is also coming home for and Heather is wanting to try her hand at actually living. I would say even that their holidays will be jam packed with lots more than presents. You are given the insights between three of them with Heather included. It is a excellent pace keeping you on your toes with the relationship between Tristan and Elle that keeps growing but also what is going on with Heather and how she is really handling things. The tension between Tristan and his father will also be a bit different in this novel with their relationship taking a different direction for them both. Lots of insights and life but then too the secrets that were hidden will also be brought to life. Some secrets will tear some apart, with some of those tears will be able to be mended or healed, but one will not be so fortunate. There will be some heart wrenching scenes in this novel that will have you needing a kleenex or two. But I will say one thing love will be the victor once again overall. Guaranteed book coma when you finish this one. Received a copy for a honest review.

Excuse me while I DRY MY TEARS! Ugh. Angela. You know how to break my heart better than any other author out there. Yet you do it so well, that I can't get enough at the same time!

Addiction was everything I thought it would be and more. Getting back with Tristan and Elle and the journey that is their romance was like finding my breath again. I missed these two, regardless of the fact that they frustrate me more than any couple I've ever read about. But when they are on, they are on SO fiercely on you can't help but swoon and be sucked into their world.

I'm not going to go into the plot...mainly because you've got to read it to really feel the story; the heart break, the promises, the loss and betrayal. But dang it, Tristan and Elle fought for each other, continuously pushing through the tragedies to find a light at the end of their darkened tunnel and THAT is what makes Addiction so dang amazing.

Of course I know their story isn't done yet, but I will say I am more in love with Tristan now than I ever was before. He may have made his fair share of mistakes in the past, but oh boy did he make up for them in all the ways a man who messed up should. Yowsers.

I highly recommend this series. It's witty and funny, heartbreaking and sexy as sin. Angela is a magnificent story teller and definitely a favorite of mine.

Okay… I need to say that i read this book in one setting. Since I absolutely loved Angela McPherson’s first book, Distraction, I was super excited to find out what happened next for Elle and Tristan. I love those two characters SO MUCH, and I wanted to see them being happy together, finally. Right, like it would be so easy. I don’t think so.

I have to say, Addiction was a roller coaster of crazy emotions, and I might have shed a few tears at some point. Some scenes were so incredibly heartbreaking, and I was NOT expecting them AT ALL. I had to stop reading for a few minutes, just to process some of the things that happened.
What I loved most about Addiction was that it’s not just about love, but also family. Heather, Elle’s sister, reminded me how important family is. How we should never give up on one another, no matter how hard it gets. That’s what real love is all about. This book tackles tough subjects, and it makes you think about what’s important in life. We all need these kind of reminders from time to time.

It’s a quick read, which is good because it means it’s awesome, but it’s also bad because you just want more.
You’ve been warned Angela McPherson. Go grab a cup of coffee and write. I can't wait for Interception to come out!

I received a copy of the ePub from the Goodreads group Read It & Reap Group in exchange for an honest review.

Addiction is the second book in Angela McPherson’s Distraction series. Addiction can be read as a stand-alone. Three distinct and insightful characters--Elle, Tristan and Heather, narrate this page-turner. Their individual points of view give insight into their feelings, lives and hidden secrets. Elle and her sister are reunited as Heather returns home from rehab. Elle is forever hopeful that their family can move forward and heal. Elle and Tristan have a strong connection but will secrets exposed hinder their relationship. Their love and chemistry is undeniable but can it survive the shocking obstacles. The author explores various topics including addiction, young love, divorce, betrayal, divorce, and bereavement. This multi layered New Adult Contemporary Romance does not disappoint. Elle and Tristan’s journey is not over. Looking forward to the next book in the Distraction series.

*I received this book from the author in exchange for an honest review*

I received the offer to review this book and it sounded interesting so I went to Amazon to get the first book Distraction and I read that first.

Addiction starts off where Distraction ended and from the moment I began to read I was hooked in again as I was with the first book. This book does not have a dull moment. The author manages to keep the heat turned up and shows the passion and pain throughout the book in respect to the relationships of Tristan and Elle, Elle and Heather, Alyssa and Brett, and Elle and her mother.

This book has betrayal woven throughout the relationships and shows how the characters who love one another moves on through the pain to get to a more peaceful place in life.

There are a few spelling errors but not enough to take away from the book. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a good romance novel. The characters are well developed and you are able to get lost in what they go through.

It is a great book!

This was an excellent continuation to Tristan and Elle's story. I had to read this book in parts, as some moments were too intense to digest at first...some angry, some deeply sad. And here I thought Distraction was an emotional roller-coaster - this was even more intense. The story was by no means predictable and at at one time, I even doubted that things would end up HEA. Mc.Pherson was able to put the reader right in the midst of the couple's relationship. A beautiful well-rounded story, family and friends are part and parcel of the relationship, much like it usually is in reality. Drug addiction is a touchy and painful topic, but it was incorporated into this romance so well, showing how it affects the people in an addict's life. I am not normally a New Adult fan, unless the plot has some potential, but this book surpasses all!! I will now patiently await anything Angela Mc.Pherson writes.

OK this is the second in the distraction series, I had the privilege of reading an ARC for a honest review for the first one and loved it so well I had to read the next one. here we are right where we ended in book one. Tristan and Elle have decided to give their relationship a go, and boy the sexual chemistry is hot. They are going home for the holidays and Tristan is going to tell his parents that they are a couple. Heather Elles drug addiction, now clean with rehab is coming home all seems perfect, but looks can be deceiving. While Tristan and Elle are being perfect, her sister is breaking down. A loss happens , secrets are exposed. trust is lost, and hearts are broken. I don't want to give too much away, but I do believe that Tristan grows and maybe even Elle. This book is awesome, don't think I can wait for third. MUST HAVE NOW.

Make sure you have plenty of tissues because Addiction will bring you to your knees, and just when you recover, it will slam you with even more feelings. So many feelings! Tristan shows you the definition of unconditional love. He also shows that keeping secrets, even with good intentions, will only end badly. Elle, through all the devastation thrust on her, proves she is a strong woman who finally understands who she is and what she wants. Ultimately, Tristan and Elle are relatable characters who force you to love them. The story just moves so perfectly and it never gave me a chance to relax, which I love!

I read this book in one sitting and bawled the entire time. This is the perfect addition to McPherson's Distraction series, and I CANNOT wait for book 3!

4.5 stars

It was a good continuation to the first book. I loved reading about Tristan and Elle being together, how happy they were, but I had a feeling that this was not going to end well. And my fears after reading the first book came true in this one. I was so pissed off with both Heather (for being so selfish) and Elle (for being both selfish and immature).

Still I liked the first book a little bit more, but I really like this series and can't wait to read the third book. And the book about Alyssa. She still is my favourite character :)

I was given this book to write an honest review.
I loved the first book Tristan and Elle's story took me on a journey, I can honestly say this book was just as good and even more heartbreaking.
Addiction is a truly great book. I found it gripping throughout.
I loved how Elle and Tristan progress in this book until tragedy strikes and they lose each other, so sad!!! will they get back to where they were?
I fell in love just a little more in this book with Tristan everyone nees him in their life.
The author did a great job. This book illustrated how a family can come together to be ripped apart and the aftermath of this happening.
Super read!  one that did not dissappoint!

What an amazing, utterly emotional continuation to Tristan and Elle's story. It's possible this one was better than the first book...but I LOVED Distraction so might be a tie!

Angela has done it again..with her amazing word flow and deeper insight to her characters and allowing us to get to know other characters more..it was a non-stop read once I picked it up.

If you've read Distraction, this is your next reading stop so go get it! You won't be disappointed!

I feel like I just stepped off the mother of emotional roller coasters after finishing this story. I cried. I laughed. I now crave bacon cheese fries and pecan pie. Tissues are a must and so are extra pairs of clean panties, because the heat is through the roof. Angela has a gift for writing characters you want to slap, but still make you love them. This story was no exception. I look forward to Tristan and Elle's next book.

Angela, Angela, Angela... You've done it again! I am truly so in love with Tristan and Elle that my heart aches for them. Their story is so tragic, but so beautiful at the same time.
