The first time I met Kyler Blackwood, he was a bruised and battered boy with fire in his eyes and nowhere safe to land.
Since the first time he kissed me, he was my best-kept secret, my quiet rebellion, my haven in the storm.
But fate forced us apart, making us pretend to be strangers because it hurt too much to be anything else.
Years later, time hasn’t dulled what we felt, has never erased the way we fit. And when Kye’s past collides with my present, everything shifts.
It’s a choice neither of us expected. A bond that never really broke. A line we were never meant to cross.
We tell ourselves it’s only temporary, that the arrangement is just a means to an end. But with each passing day, the lie feels more like the truth. And with each stolen touch, Kye feels more like mine. Because some things were never meant to be pretend.
And some dangers are closer than we ever imagined...
Writer of words. Drinker of Diet Cokes. Lover of all things cute and furry, especially her dog. Catherine has had her nose in a book since the time she could read and finally decided to write down some of her own stories. When she's not writing she can be found exploring her home state of Oregon, listening to true crime podcasts, or searching for her next book boyfriend.
This was even better now that I got to experience all those little moments with Kye and Fallon in the previous books, it had so much more meaning having known their story... So many moments that led to their story, moments I missed the first time, but it's all I saw the second time.. And then re-reading their book, everything hit even harder!
I honestly didn't think I could love these books or this family more, but now, this series is firmly in the top five of my all time favourite series and that's the highest possible praise I could give any series or book.. Some stories stay with you more than others and the stories of this beautiful family will always stay with me. I haven't been feeling great lately and re-reading this series again has helped immensely! There are certain books that have always been my comfort reads, but this is the first series that gave me that same comfort and I'll always love them for it!

There's not enough words to describe just how much I loved this book!!!! I'm so emotional right now, this was everything I wanted, everything I needed... I read it in one sitting, I adore them so much, this is my favourite story!!
Kye and Fallon had my attention since the moment we met them, I have been looking forward to their story for so long and it really was everything!! The angst and the yearning omg, it was amazing!! They were each others everything.
Kye was a bad boy with the biggest heart. His past made me so emotional, I love how he took care of everyone and the way he loved Fallon was unmatched. He was so protective and only had eyes for her, but his insecurities broke my heart.. Fallon was fierce and always there to protect those who needed it. Her vengeful streak was so fun, I love her glitter bombs. She loved and protected Kye so much and she always fought for him. Their moments were so good, a delicious slowburn, but worth every second.. Her calling him Kyler, the notes, the sparrows, the creek and the dogwoods, the tattoos, the house ahhh. The beauty in the broken!!
I absolutely love marriage of convenience, it's one of my favourite tropes, and this having it was just the cherry on the top. The "my wife" and "my husband" moments were immaculate!! And there's an one bed trope, what more can you ask for!! Their love story was truly epic. Honestly, the way they loved each other is my favourite thing in the world. I knew their love story is going to be my favourite and now I want to re-read every book again, just so I can appreciate all of their moments.
The found family here will always be the best part, I love them so much. The group chat, the way they're always there for each other, it's so special. Seeing them all finally happy made me so emotional.. I cried quite a few times, I can't believe this series is over now. Hayden, Clem and Gracie were such an amazing addition, I adored them, and seeing them integrated in this beautiful family was wonderful. The moments between Kye and Fallon and them were so cute!!
The mystery part was great!! I, once again, didn't guess the killer.. Honestly, I really wasn't expecting that..
I'm gonna miss them so freaking much, I hope we'll see them in passing again. I'm excited for Dex and his brothers though, I know I'm going to love their stories too.
I can't believe we finally have Kye's and Fallon's story, I have been waiting for this since book one. To say I have high hopes would be the understatement of the year... I need this to be perfect!! 💜
Hiiii guys, I can't believe I’ve basically been inactive for almost a month. Life has been so stressful with exams, and I’ve genuinely missed reading so much. Today was the first time I picked up a book in weeks, and it felt weirdly comforting. I’m hoping I can be more active again because oh my god… I missed so many releases. And of course, some of them were my most anticipated ones 😭 Now I have like 6–7 books just waiting, and no time to read them. Pain. Actual pain.
I’ve been waiting for Secret Haven since reading book one back in April. Fallon & Kye have been that couple I’ve been dying for, and I cannot wait to finally get their full story. And seeing all the positive reviews… it gives me hope. I really need a comfort book right now, something soft and familiar and a little dramatic in the best way.

Bruised boy, secret kisses, and a bond that never broke. Some things were never meant to be pretend.
Small town + second chance + marriage of convenience?? Add found family and danger??? Yeah… if this book doesn’t heal me, I’m suing emotionally. 🫶
Update (10/21/2025):Happy publishing day to Secret Haven!

They're the perfect combination of romance, spice, and a suspense/thriller plotline woven throughout.

I am SO eternally grateful for the opportunity to get book mail from any author/publisher, and thank you SO much to Catherine Cowles and her team for coming across my account and allowing me to read this early!🩵 I never thought in a million years that something like this would happen to me, considering all of my ARCs leading up to this have been eARCs, so I'm so excited and thankful for this opportunity.
Admittedly, I haven't read the first 5 books in the series, but these books are all interconnected standalones so not reading the first four books shouldn't be an issue. I've heard her books are SO good from so many of my friends, so I can't wait to dive in!
Thank you to Catherine Cowles for the ARC in exchange for an honest review!
Her best book by far! I thought for sure Chasing Shelter would be my favorite in the Sparrow Falls series, but Kye and Fallon's story was unlike no other. Any time there's the "it was always you trope," that just GETS me.
First off, the emotion in all facets of this story was beautiful. Not only was the romantic relationship charged with emotion, but the familial relationships and sibling bonding? Impeccable. Kye and Fallon are truly each other's person. They'll stand by the other through flame and fire. And Kye's backstory—I knew it would be heart-breaking, but this man has been through so much, and I loved seeing how he was able to overcome his inner demons.
I also loved how Secret Haven had more subplots and a stronger emphasis on the suspense aspect, while still maintain that signature Colson humor. And once again, Catherine Cowles completely blindsided me with that twist. I've given up trying to predict the ending because I know I'm always going to be wrong. But I'm going to miss the Colson family so much, though I can't wait for the next Catherine Cowles book!
Thank you so much to Catherine Cowles for sending me an ARC of Secret Haven. As always, my reviews are one hundred percent voluntary and all opinions are my own :)
✨ Rating: 5⭐️ 🫧 Vibes: tender but achingly intense 🎶 Song: guilty as sin - taylor swift 📖 Favourite Quote: "You were my safe haven, the place I returned to again and again, even if I could only hold you in the secret places of my soul." 📚 Would I recommend? A MILLION TIMES YES 💬 tldr thoughts: I can't believe this perfect series is over 😭
In the package: 📦 marriage of convenience 📦 second chance 📦 LONGING
Plot: Fallon and Kyler fell in love as teenagers, but they were forced to become strangers—until a shocking secret pulls them back together in an unexpected arrangement.
Thoughts: I'M SO SAD THIS SERIES IS OVER!!! There's nothing more heartbreaking than reading the final book of a series you love 😭 I've been dying to read Fallon and Kye's story ever since the first book where I picked up a ~vibe~. I loved Shep but I think Kye may have stolen his crown for best MMC in the Sparrow Falls series. I don't think I've ever seen a man yearn, long and obsessover someone so achingly. The angst was ANGSTING. Just when I thought he couldn't prove his love any more for Fallon, we discover some more secrets 🤭
This book was definitely much more a slow burn compared to the others (for obvious reasons) but when it finally happened, I CHEERED!!! I love these characters so much and how they're written. There's some good twists in this one as well, I've never managed to accurately guess the villain but I was SO far off this time 🫣 oops!
I want to keep this review spoiler-free so I'll just say that their love story is my favourite 🫶🏻
Thank you Catherine Cowles and Sourcebooks Casa for the ARC!
Just found out KYLERS BEEN CELIBATE FOR 14 YEARS. FOURTEEN
I skipped to the ending of chasing shelter and I need fallonkyler like I need air. I’m convinced Kyler is a virgin and is saying he’s not so he can push Fallon away. Even if he isn’t, I’m convinced since he met Fallon, he’s been celibate. Theres no way THIS MAN who has been yearning for Fallon is banging EVERYONE AND ANYONE
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
This one’s the longest in the series, probably because it’s the final book. And tbh, I felt that length while I was reading this. The first half was slow, like, it really dragged on and nothing much was going on in the story. Then, a lot of events were crammed into the second half, and ngl, it felt a bit overwhelming to me. It feels like so many things are going on all at once from different parts of the story, and I’m getting confused about what the main focus really is. Throw in a bajillion characters to keep an eye on. If readers haven't checked out the prior books, they would surely get lost trying to keep up with who's who. 🫣
Then some parts were repetitive, like the push and pull from Kyler (30). There's a constant war in his head that he's not good enough for Fallon (28) because of his past and that she deserves someone better. There's also this side that wants to prove to her that he'll always be there for her, and he could be that someone. But when things got way too raw and honest between them, he would pull away all the time because, again, he thought he wasn't worthy of her love. I could probably understand his reasoning in the beginning, but then, like I said, it got so repetitive that it came to a point where it just only irked me. 😶
Luckily for him, Fallon didn't give up on him even though all he ever did in the start was push her away and put boundaries between them. She supported him in everything and didn't leave his side. Poor girl, though; the woman was put through the wringer here. How she was able to survive three attempts in her life and still be sane is so beyond me. I'd probably lose my ever-loving mind. 😅
As for the siblings, it wasn't enough that Kyler found three half sisters; he had to find a half brother too. This guy's world was definitely turned upside down. I love his sisters and the relationship they built. I love how he was patient and showed them that he's unlike all the other grown-ups they have encountered. But the dad thing was a bit odd to me, yet it works for them anyway, so… 🤷♀️
This is definitely a slow burn; I don't think anything fully happened until the 70% mark. And tbh, I don't know if they're good or bad because I skipped all the spicy scenes. I'm really bitter that Fallon is a virgin, so I had to skip all those scenes. Petty? Eh, maybe. But it's my reading experience and I don't want to ruin it. 🤷♀️
For context, Fallon and Kyler met when they were 13 and 15. Since then, Kye hasn't slept with anyone until now. When he turned 16, he was fostered by her family, and they decided to hide their feelings for each other to prevent him from being sent to another foster home.
In the present time, both said they tried moving on. Fal had relationships and boyfriends, but she couldn't fully commit to them. And Kye said that whenever he allowed another woman to get close, he felt physically ill, so he just stopped trying altogether. He also made her believe that there had been women in all those years. He really thought it would've been better if they had just both moved on. But, ugh! I really wished Fallon had been with someone else. 🙃
Anywaaay, overall, I think it was okay, although I'd die on the hill that it's way longer than it needed to be. While there were so many things going on, and I lost focus at times, eventually everything got resolved, and Kye and Fal got their HEA. I love the family moments and how they are always supportive of each other. Still, it's a good ending for the series.
Book info: — Foster siblings — Neglectful/abusive parents — Violence, murder — Secret siblings — Found family — Marriage of convenience — No cheating, separation — V FMC 🫠, Celibate MMC (14 yrs) — HEA (1 yr later, found out they’re pregnant) — Bonus ep, newsletter (5 yrs later, still married, with 5 kids (all girls) in total)
Notes: — OW. There was a woman who works with Kye at the tattoo shop who's also interested in him. She asked him out twice; he neither encouraged her nor shut her down. He just avoided her invitation and only fired her when she badmouthed Fal. — OM. Fallon's coworker seems to have an interest in her as well. But she only saw him as a coworker and nothing more.
LISTEN! No one was anticipating this book more than me. Even though the series got repetitivel after Book 3, I still pushed on just to get to this couple. Which is why it pains me to say this missed the mark. Big time.
Fallon and Kye were supposed to be end game but this story was a mess. Too much going on and it took away from both the romance and the thriller aspect of the “storyline”. Yes that’s in quotation marks because it was hardly there to begin with.
So where to start? The sheer number of characters in this book. I stopped counting at around 30. The issue with this many characters is it made following dialogue a nuisance. Especially with all the family banter. Did Kye really need 3 new goddamn sisters? 2 would have sufficed. And at Book 6, I’ve run out of patience with the amount of time dedicated to Lolli and her fucking diamond art. It was just filler that did nothing to progress the story or even add to it. We get it, she’s quirky, likes her sex and drugs. Enough now.
Next, we come to the suspense portion itself. It 100% took a back seat in this book and really felt like an after thought. MC and/or Fight club members were getting dropped left and right and you barely got a peek into the investigation happening about it. You never got to visit the MC world and delve into Kye’s old associates. Other than asking Trace if there was any news, Kye didn’t seem all that worried he was being targeted at all. And we never really got a good explanation about what made Jericho react the way he did. The suspense aspect of this book did not feel complete. And the final villain was just so dumb. His motive was weak and farfetched at best and lazy writing at worse.
And lastly, Kye. Oh man did Kye let me down. Fallon I was good with, but Kye? Where was his passion when he finally got his girl? I didn’t get the “I’d burn the world down for her” energy I hoped he would bring. He was possessive but mostly just whined about how he wasn’t good enough for her while carrying on about these damn kids. I think this romance would have shined much better without the girls. The author could have found a better way to justified the marriage of convenience rather than this nonsense. Oh and note to the author: for fuck’s sake, spend time with kids before you write about them. No 6 year old talks like Gracie does.
This book did me dirty. Without little to no explanation, here are the other issues I had:
- The spice? Man it gave me the ick. Why would the first time they kiss in 14 years be when they blindside their family with their engagement news and have this passionate “get a room” kiss in front everyone who thought they considered themselves to be brother and sister? Why is the first time they have sex (she’s a virgin btw) propositioned with “want to test that theory out”? Huh??? 14 years of pining and that’s the way we’re leading into this big moment? Ick. - I get it, the mom sucked but hearing a grown man refer to any woman as “that bitch” rubbed me the wrong way. Especially coming from Kye about his own mother. - The DHS stuff was too overdone. - Very formulaic storytelling at this point in the series. Anson profiling, Dex hacking and Holt installling a security system has been featured in EVERY FUCKING BOOK.
4.5⭐️ Y’all have no idea how patiently I have waited for this book—actually, I have a feeling most of us were chomping at the bit, so you get it. I am such a fan of the forbidden love trope, and I just knew this was the one I was going to love most.
However, by the time it arrived on my doorstep, I no longer wanted to read it, knowing that this would be the end of the series (and anyone who knows me knows I will avoid an ending at all costs). Luckily for me, I was able to push myself, and I’m so glad I did because Catherine Cowles did not disappoint with the conclusion to this fantastic series, in print and especially on audio, which was fantastic.
Ky and Fallon, though not new to us now by any means, still felt fresh and new from the beginning of their love story to the end of the book. I absolutely adore the way Cowles gives us their backstory in a way that makes a potentially taboo trope not feel that way at all.
After laying the groundwork of the past, she then develops their already deep relationship into so much more, and it was such a pleasure to be able to witness it on page (and in ear). They were clearly a couple written in the stars, and I loved every minute of their beautiful story. I could cry thinking about saying goodbye to this family, rich in their love and devotion to each other and their small town. Good thing I happen to be a rereader 😉
Read if you like: ▪️romantic suspense ▪️forbidden love ▪️marriage of convenience ▪️unrequited love ▪️hilarious group chats ▪️found family ▪️small town setting
📌 Book 6 in the Sparrow Falls series is out now.
A huge thank you to Catherine Cowles for the advanced copies.
I’ve had a love/hate relationship with the books in this series, but I’m so glad that it was able to end on a high note.
The relationship between Fallon and Kye has always intrigued me and I’ve been impatiently waiting to learn more about their past. These two have been yearning for each other for years and I ate it up. They understood each other so well and were also really protective of each other. They were an amazing couple and I was rooting for them all throughout this book.
As for the plot, there was a bit of a twist at the start of the story which I didn’t see coming, but it made the book so much more interesting. Even though I had a busy week, I kept thinking about this book and wanting to know how everything would play out. The story was pretty similar to the author’s other books, but it didn’t bother me as much here. Can’t say the same for the nicknames though… They are always so bad. My only other complaint is that I found Kye to be rather annoying towards the end. I get that he feels bad for being the reason his family is in danger, but it just came off as him being really mopey. It wasn’t an attractive character trait.
But all in all, this was a good conclusion to the series and an enjoyable read.

Pre-read: I’ve been waiting for Kye and Fallon’s story since book one, plz don’t disappoint🙏🏻
Literally obsessed and my new favorite Catherine Cowles book, and I've read EVERY SINGLE thing she's written.
If you want yearning, look no further. Both Kye and Fallon have yearned for YEARSSSS and now they have to have a marriage of convenience!? And it's only one bed!? Screamingggggg. Their tension was everything, and the way they would fiercely defend one another!?! Obsessed. There were so many amazing micro tropes in here that I don't want to spoil, but they were everything. And the found family in here after being with these characters for six books now? Everything.
This couldn't be a more perfect ending to the most perfect series.
This was such a strong finale. I wish I could list all the characters right now and just fawn over each one. This book did such a great job of showing how vital each member of this found/adopted family was.
It also felt like a love letter to the GOOD that the foster care system can do. We see horror stories every day, but there are absolutely wonderful people in departments all over the US, doing their best to keep kids safe and reunite families where they can. I've seen it in action in my own family. So this was such a beautiful side to it.
Of course, we also see the pain and heartbreak that can come from it. But seeing Kye overcome a broken home and be welcomed into the Colson family was heart-wrenching. The sacrifice that he and Fallon had to make so he could be safe was hard to watch. Seeing them finally get to love out loud and rescue his new found sisters was beautiful too. I loved it so much.
The marriage of convenience, suspense elements, and reveals were icing on the cake along the way. This was such a great story and this series was such a great ride. I loved every book along the way and this is a series I will recommend for years to come.
I can't wait for where we go next!
I listened to an Advanced Listening Copy that was narrated by Connor Crais & Stella Hunter. They were top tier and I love whenever I pick up my headphones to listen to them.
5 Stars 3 on the spice scale
TW: foster care, child neglect, child abandonment, child abuse, violence, injury resulting in hospitalization, attempted murder, kidnapping, and more
*Thank you to the author for an ARC & ALC of this title.*
I cannot believe that Kye and Fallon are officially here!! I am so excited for you to read this forbidden, marriage of convenience romance! I am so obsessed with these two and hope you enjoy their romance! In their story, you'll find:
💙Forbidden 🩷Single Guardian 💙Marriage of Convenience 🩷Second Chance 💙Forced Proximity 🩷Found Family 💙Only One Bed 🩷It's Always Been you 💙Hilarious Grandma
I never, never want to leave Sparrow Falls but I couldn’t ask for a better ending. Kyler and Fallon are everything. We’ve waited all this time for their story and it was everything I could have hoped for and more. Secret Haven perfectly shows everything Catherine is known for - suspense that keeps you guessing, found family that pulls at your heart strings, and romance that has you falling in love with love all over again. I loved every moment of this book.
Read this if you’re in the mood for… - forbidden love - marriage of convenience - it was always you - YEARNING - forced proximity
We’ve seen glimpses of them in past books but nothing could have prepared me for their POVs. Their love is quiet and understanding until it becomes loud and protective. It’s perfect for them and I loved it all.
The Sparrow Falls series is my most recommended and this confirms that I will never stop recommending.
• Second chance • Marriage of convenience • Romantic suspense • First love • Guardianship of sisters • Healing from past trauma • Its always been you • "My wife" x "My husband" • Forced proximity • Social worker x Tattoo artist • Bad boy x Good girl • Found family • Foster brother x sister • Forbidden • Secrets Tattoos • Final book in series
How am I going to move on from this beautiful series?? Over the last few days, it has absolutely consumed me in the best way! I have never, in the history of all my reading years, loved a series and flown through a series the way I did this one! And now that it’s over, I truly don’t know what to do! Restart it? Haha! Honestly, I just might!
There couldn’t have been a better way to end this series than with this book! Fallon and Kye's story brought so many things full circle. Not just their HEA, but everything that Catherine had carefully laid out for us throughout this series. This series took found family to a whole new level, and I just know I will forever be comparing every book in that trope to this series!
One thing I appreciated so much throughout this series was the consistency. The consistency of the pace of every romance. Though they were very different, they flowed at such a similar pace, and I loved it. The consistency of each character also stood out to me. Catherine had such a beautiful way of capturing each character, and from the time this series started to the time it ended, each character was so perfectly consistent! I also loved the sweet flashback in this story of their teenage years together. As much as it gutted me at times, it was so beautifully done and reflected each character so well. Catherine really poured her heart into this series, and it shows 100%!
Kye was a character that instantly stole my heart. His personality stood out to me from the very beginning. And knowing his story now and everything he went through as a child, it made so much sense why he was the owner of an MMA gym and always had this protective edge to him! But nothing compares to the way he protected Fallon and cared for Fallon! Gosh. The way this man loved her and watched over her through the years! I could have never predicted that Catherine would have given each of these characters an HEA together, but this mastermind had it all laid out for us. Every detail down to Fallon’s job! It was all just so perfect! Their story was beautiful, raw, angsty, and clever. It was so perfectly them! And Catherine did such a beautiful job!
And tying their story together with three little girls! Ahh! The way my jaw dropped when Catherine brought them into the story! And Kye getting to right the wrongs that Renee caused in all of their lives was one true full circle moment and exactly what each of them needed! These three little girls could not have been more adorable. Each with such beautiful personalities that stood out so well! I loved watching them find a safe place in Fallon and Kye!
Even finishing this review feels so final like after I’m done, I’m actually done with this series. And I’m really not ready for that! This series was the highlight of my reading year. Hands down one of the best series I have ever read! If you haven’t started this series, you should! Not sure where to start and scared to commit to a six book series? Don’t worry, I was too! But I’m here to say DO IT! You won’t regret a single second!
🎧 Audiobook Review 🎧 Dual narration Narrated by Connor Crais and Stella Hunter
Two Connor and Stella books in ONE WEEK!! Yes, please. I love these two so much together! Catherine has done an incredible job casting this series. Every single book has felt so authentic. However, this one will always stand out to me. This book was special. This series was special. And ending the series with this narrator duo was so well thought out!
Connor did such an incredible job with BOTH my favorites from this series, Broken Harbor and this one. He brought Cope and Kye to life in such different ways but made them equally captivating and uniquely them. It’s something I love so much about Connor’s narration, he puts so much personality and effort into each character while keeping it so consistent throughout a series or book! This one definitely stood out to me! He handled Kye's love for Fallon over the years so perfectly, and that was one of my favorite parts of this book!
Stella brought sweet, giving Fallon to life! It was everything I had hoped for with her character. Fallon’s big, beautiful heart came out so beautifully in her performance. I recently said this in a review, but I’m going to repeat it. Stella is one of my favorite narrators in dual! Her female voice is BEAUTIFUL, but her male voice for the characters she’s narrating is always so spot on! I just love it every time!
This is the end of my review! If I didn’t do a good enough job convincing you to start this series, then feel free to message me because I will forever be recommending this series to anyone who will listen to me yap about it.
It was beautiful. Warm. Captivating. Engaging. Consistent. And I will miss the Colson crew so very much!
Kye and Fallen’s story was everything I wanted and more without question, the best in the series. The angst, the tension, the yearning, the spice… every single piece of it hit perfectly. The suspense was sharp and kept me on edge, while the emotions absolutely tore through me.
I teared up multiple times (the prologue alone had me misty-eyed), and by the end, I was just sitting there in awe. I love a marriage of convenience story, but this one? It was exceptional. The emotion felt so real, and the love story was both heartbreaking and healing all at once.
I’m honestly speechless, this book was simply unforgettable thank you to the author for the gifted arc in exchange for an honest review.
How are we on the final book in Sparrow Falls?! This whole series has been the absolute best and Secret Haven is easily one of my tops in this series too! This is small town, romantic suspense perfection, and we have two of my favorite tropes: single guardian and marriage of convenience.
I’d been wanting a Fallon & Kye book since the very first book in the series and I’m so glad we got their story. This journey was everything and more. I love the Colson family so much and we jump right into seeing their dynamic growing up in the prologue when Fallon is a teenager. The Colson family is a blended family of siblings (adopted, foster, birth) and their love for one another and always showing up is so strong in this series. I love the siblings, their mom, and of course Grandma Lolli too! In the prologue we see Fallon and Kye spending time together secretly at school. Their connection is something tender and special and I loved this little moment with them in the prologue. One night things take a turn when Kyler is dropped off at Fallon’s home as a new foster sibling, he says they can’t tell her family they knew one another yet or that they shared a kiss. And things cut to the future from there!
This book is filled with so much emotion and heart and I loved every second. The book jumps to present day for Kye and Fallon. He’s working at his tattoo shop and is still super protective over Fallon. The longing and angst between these two is just so good. We also really get a look into the foster care system and I love how many children Fallon wants to help. One night she gets a call that changes their lives when she finds out Kye has three half-sisters in need. Kye’s feelings when he finds out his half-sisters exist and he never knew 🥺, him immediately wanting custody/guardianship of them and asking Fallon for help with the process 🤧! This has a marriage of convenience and I loved how it all played out, including who asked who.
I could gush about this one for ages but I’ll wrap it up. I had so many favorite moments from him calling her Sparrow, the tattoos, their history, his taking care of her at every turn (even if that’s making sure she eats), Grandma Lolli saying she’s more ready to be tied up than tied down 🤭🤣, “my wife”, the house 🥹, and of course their relationship with his sisters Gracie, Clementine, and Hayden. I loved the check-ins with the entire Colson crew and what a fantastic way to wrap up this wonderful series!
I received an audio ALC, all thoughts in this review are my own. Narrated by Stella Hunter and Connor Crais, they both were fantastic at brining these characters to life.
CW: foster care, child endangerment, child abuse, violence
It should be 3⭐️, but I hate Lolli so much so it is minus one star only because she exists.
Sooo, i waited a year for this book and this is what I got? This is my villain origin story.
The fact that Kye didn't know about his sisters is a huge plot hole. I mean, his brother is a sheriff, his sister is a social worker, his Nora and Lolli are some of the most respected people in town, and they've all been living in the same town all these years. And you're saying that in 14 years, no one has heard a single rumor that his mother has three new children? Seriously? In a small town where everybody knows each other?
And does he even need these sisters? And do we really need 10+ new side characters? The Colson clan with all partners and children is already big enough. We don't need to add more ppl to this mess. As a result, there isn't enough Kye and Fallon in the book that supposed to be about Kye and Fallon. Most of the time, they talk to endless colleagues, siblings and these girls, but they hardly spend any time alone.
Suspense is almost non exist in this one. Somebody is killing some guys, but it looks like Kye is not caring. He is only concerned about not becoming a suspect, because then he could lose custody. Five books author told us how he participated in underground fights and how much trouble he caused Nora. In the end, we learned nothing about this part of his biography. He fought, and then he stopped and now has business and unlimited money. That's all.
She’s a virgin, and he hasn’t had sex since he was 15, so the spicy scenes in this one were pure cringe. I liked the smut in the earlier books, but seriously wtf was that?
Lolli is the worst comedy sidekick ever written. The joke about crystal penises was kind of funny in the first book, but it’s the same joke in every book in this series. An 80y.o. lady who only talks about sex, nudity, and drugs is just uncomfortable. Especially when the whole joke is her saying something inappropriate around kids or giving them some special pastry.
In the end of the day relationships between Kye and Fallon was cute and I really enjoyed moments between them. But book goes to far away from MCs and focused more on relationships between MCs and their family or dozen of different side characters.
I swear I say this every single time Catherine puts out a new book, but she did it again! Boy oh boy did this one deliver. There were Easter Eggs throughout the series about Fallon and Kyler - but honestly I didn't pick it up until I heard there were going to be 6 books and 7 kids in the family. That's when I go suspicious - and BOY was it worth the wait!
The relationship between Kye and Fallon was epic starting as friends, moving to lovers, then becoming "siblings" before finally crossing to forbidden lovers. Oh and once again I didn't see the ending coming!
Ahhhh the way I counted down the days, minutes, and seconds until I was able to read 𝙎𝙚𝙘𝙧𝙚𝙩 𝙃𝙖𝙫𝙚𝙣! How I was DYING for Fallon and Kye’s story since book 1 is unhealthy and let me just say, Catherine SLAYED it!! Hands down, 𝙎𝙚𝙘𝙧𝙚𝙩 𝙃𝙖𝙫𝙚𝙣, is infinity stars and worth every single word. In fact I could have read an additional 500 pages and be like, oh man it’s over?! 😩 My only issue I have with this book is that I read it already and I NEED to experience it again for the first time like 10 more times! Fallon and Kye’s story is filled with the romantic suspense we all love from Catherine with tons of emotions! The NEW found family in this story will break your heart in 100 different ways and Catherine is the glue that puts it all back together. The love I have for Kye after his story, oh man, him and Fallon are serious couple goals! Lollie is back for tons of laughs and inappropriate dick diamond art 🤣, along with the entire Colson Crew! The sadness I feel knowing this series has come to an end was not something I expected but this book was the PERFECT finale! 𝙎𝙚𝙘𝙧𝙚𝙩 𝙃𝙖𝙫𝙚𝙣 has easily skyrocketed to my favorite in the Sparrow Falls series and Catherine Cowles book!
This. Book. THIS. BOOK. Omg. I’m actually speechless. Kye & Fallon were everything & their story is 100% without a doubt my favorite Catherine has written so far. I haven’t been able to stop thinking about these two since I finished it 🥹
Mark my words… this book WILL be in my top 10 reads of the year. Thank you so so much to Catherine & her team for the ARC & ALC. The audiobook was amazing. Connor Crais as Kye just really solidified how perfect this book is 🤭
The most amazing series has officially come to an end & I can’t believe it. The Colsons will forever hold the most special place in my heart!!
BUT SERIOUSLY IM NOT OKAYYYYYYY😭😭😭😭 I’m literally an emotional, snotty mess after finishing. This book was everything I could’ve ever imagined and more. And it just so happened to be the book I was MOST EXCITED FOR WITH ME BEING A LOVER OF THE FORBIDDEN!!!
I think this may just be my favorite book Catherine has ever written. It was PERFECTION!!!!!!!! The audio was so dang good & the story line tugged at my heart strings so damn much. It had everything I wanted!!
Besides the fact that I was eagerly awaiting Fallon & Kyler’s story, we get so much more to their background & I ATE IT UP. y’all already know I’m so about that forbidden romance life BUT THERE was so much to their story ugh IM SO FILLED WITH LOVE AND FEELINGS!!!!
The Colsons are truly one of the best fictional families ever 😭😭😭
Type: audio Spice: 🌶️🌶️
Tropes: • Forbidden • Single Guardian • Second Chance • Forced Proximity • Found Family • Marriage of Convenience • Only One Bed • It’s Always Been You
I truly can’t imagine a more perfect way to end this series than with this impeccable story. Truly.
Fallon and Kye got their moment in the sun and an HEA — but the book serves as a wonderful way to bring every single story in the series to a perfect close. Catherine is a master storyteller — and watching everything she’s plotted this whole time wrap up, I was in awe.
This story is so compelling. Which is no surprise. But given how highly anticipated this was for me, I wanted something special — and I got that and more.
Kye and Fallon are soulmates who have traveled a hard road — and honestly there were so many elements that took me by surprise and made me swoon and/or tear up repeatedly.
🎧I experienced this perfect story in audio and I have to say this dual narration by Connor Crais & Stella Hunter was INSANELY GOOD! Connor brings the perfect gruffness to Kye along with a softness that was needed. Stella was outstanding as Fallon, offering so much to the narration - so much passion, love and longing. These actors were incredible — they really brought this story to life!
What to expect: Forbidden Single Guardian Second Chance Forced Proximity Found Family Only One Bed It's Always Been You Hilarious Grandma
Thank you so much, Catherine, for the opportunity to experience this story in advance!
I didn’t want this series to end!! I ate this book up but man I am sad to say goodbye to Sparrow Falls.
This was the best story to end on. All of the little Easter eggs throughout the others books were really well thought out and I loved how this story came together.
This is my favorite series by Catherine Cowles and if anyone is looking to start a new found family suspenseful romance series you need to check this one out!!
