I was really looking forward to this book for a while. But sadly, I have to report that I was very disappointed on the overall story. Honestly, I really didn’t like where the story was heading and I personally didn’t like the whole cheating thing and I was trying to be sympathetic and see from a different point of view. Aaren really brought everything that happened to him on himself. I get why he got with his boyfriend and yes, his boyfriend was a douche. But once he realized his boyfriend was a douche instead of still sticking with him and still getting it on with him, he should’ve kept some distance, kept it more professional because at the end of the day they just needed each other. That’s how he made it seem like anyway, he just needed him to finish the contract that they had together. So I don’t see why they have to sleep together in the same bed and do the naughty, naughty all of that doesn’t need to be going on if you just literally don’t even like each other. And I also didn’t like how it was a big ass secret and he was so scared of getting caught, but he was still doing all these things and right after he did it with the other guy he did it with his boyfriend that was a little nasty for me not gonna lie. But anyways, there was just a lot of hanky-panky and kind of got repetitive and honestly, I didn’t see anything amazing about Aaren nor Hades. Didn’t enjoy there relationship and didn’t see any growth along the way. The second book was by far my favorite, and this one might be my least favorite. And another thing being fat is not a disability or a big motherfucking deal. I don’t know why she makes seem like being fat is the end of the world like excuse me you made one of your characters in a previous book have an amazing back story that didn’t have anything to do with his weight.
There’s never a doubt that when I start a book that Anna Wineheart writes, I will never get bored with reading it! She’s once again given us a book full of laughter, seriousness and HEA.
Aaren needed an Alpha to be with for a year before he fulfilled his grandmother’s requirements to inherit her money. I truly disliked the Alpha he chose, Ballus. Ballus’s disrespectful behavior towards his omega is degrading. Even though Aaren was overweight, it didn't mean he didn’t desire to be treated well. And he still had six months more left to have the inheritance.
I felt sorry for the situation Aaren had gotten himself into. But then Hades arrives. Alpha Hades, from the start, was respectful with Aaren and gave many praises to the omega. Even with Aaren knowing the man was an ex-con. Hades remembered what a great cook Aaren was and searched for him to have one of his great meals. When they met, Hades already admired Aaren, and it didn't take long for the two to spark a flame.
Aaren kept telling himself that Hades was an ex-con and he shouldn’t get involved, but the alpha treated him sweetly, praised him for things Aaren would do, and thought Aaren was beautiful. That made Aaren feel more confident.
Anna's creative mind takes us through Aaren cheating on Ballus and Hades wanting to be Aaren’s new Alpha. With her magical writing touch, she brings us laughter and fun for these two who desired each other! I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
Aaren and Hades story is a little different in that Aaren is already in a relationship when they get together. This is normally a big no for me but his partner is an alphahole and verbally abusive to Aaren. Hades is immediately so protective and caring of Aaren, it's so sweet to read. Things then dial up ten fold and it is more about them being together as often as they can whilst Aaren avoids his current boyfriend, Ballus. I absolutely love the positive body image that is projected here. Hades absolutely loves Aaren as he is, and is sure to tell him as often as possible. I have learnt to take Anna's stories completely as they come. I enjoy them fully and love what she comes up with. A little bit of disbelief comes in with just how oblivious Ballus must be, but he also comes across as only caring about what affects him. I am always smiling when reading these books and the Forbidden Ex Con Alpha is no different. We also get cameo appearances from men from other books written in the Meadow falls universe, which is always a great addition. I received an ARC and am happily giving a review.
I received this book for free and am giving my honest and voluntary review.
This story takes the reader into the life of an ex-con who loves a certain omega’s food and tracks him down for it. I like the way that Hades and Aaren mesh, even though Aaren is with a condescending and verbally abusive alpha. Hades shows Aaren what it’s like to be treated as someone special. This story takes the reader through a great relationship and shows how even though some people don’t like the way you look: Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
Sweet Aaren was so downtrodden by his emotionally abusive alpha. He just wants to be loved and appreciated for himself, not have to live with society's notions. All his life he's been made to believe he's less than just because his weight. Hades was,the sweetest, kindest, most caring and patient alpha. He loves Aaren for who he is, including his propensity to run off at the mouth and say the most ridiculous things. I really enjoyed that they were able to take care of Aaron's problems.
I loved The Forbidden Ex-Con Alpha by Anna Wineheart. It's the fourth book in The Danger Alpha Brotherhood series. I loved Aaren and Hades' story. I loved the new blessings that Emmy came up with for Aaren and Hades, especially the proposal one and the song Aaren made up as a lullabye. I loved the scene with the label maker. It was adorable.
Aaren is counting down the days until he no longer needs to deal with his abusive alpha. One-night changes everything, it brings Hades into his life. The two quickly realize that there is something between them. I enjoyed watching the two find their way and how they deal with the abusive alpha. I found a few times with the abusive alpha you needed to ignore the obvious and suspend belief. Their story is a fun and fast paced tale that pulled me right in.
Aaren didn't need an abusive, mean alpha. he needed an alpha who treasured him and saw him for the treasure he was. Anyone who could love and revere Emmy's pickup lines deserved someone who worshipped the ground he walked on! Hades had no f's to give when he realized what kind of an alpha wanna be Bellus was! Three cheers to him for taking Aaren away.
So, near the start of the book, Hades tells Aaren that he used to be in the military to pay for his schooling (before he went to prison), but later in the book, when he tells Aaren more details about his past, he never mentions the military and said that he got his grades up enough to get a scholarship.
I love every word that Anna's creative mind comes up with. Aaren and Hades story is another laugh out loud adventure in this world she created! I sure got teary eyed on the emotional scenes and laughed so much the tears wouldn't stop on all the hilarious ones!! Can not wait for the next adventure!!
Not being in the best of relationships, Aaren finds in Hades someone who celebrates him for who is he is and embraces all sides of him. Even though they meet in secret their relationship becomes something that they treasure and they learn to fight for their happiness.
An opposites attract, hurt/ comfort, body positivity, secret relationship story that has cameos from previous characters, found family vibes and cheating elements. I enjoyed this one more than expected.
This book is great. As a long term me reader of this author’s work I am always eager to see what she comes up with next. This book certainly did not disappoint. Aaron and Hades are intriguing characters that kept me turning the pages. A book I definitely recommend.
It could have been an amazing story had the characters and plot been developed. As it stands it’s juvenile and uninspired. Sorry not sorry. I said what I said.
It was ok! I normally love Anna's books but this time around I didn't like as much. it is on the fluffier less serious side. It had heaps of spicy scenes and not a lot of story progression as I am used to with her books. It was just ok! it felt like it could be more. Maybe the characters didn't click as much as I wanted it.
