When Love Trespassed: Grumpy x Sunshine, Age-Gap, Neighbours to Lovers Romance

Rate this book
Grumpy x Sunshine. Feuding Neighbours. Age-Gap. And One Mango Tree That Started It All.

Nandini Raichand
After my failed startup, I returned to Grandpa looking for hope.
What I got?
Shaurya Ahuja, the ten-years-older grump next door, arrogant, allergic to feelings.
And my Grandpa’s sworn nemesis…thanks to the decades’ old mango tree between our villas.

I never planned to fall for my enemy.
Especially not one with abs and attitude.
But then came one reckless New Year’s Eve.

We weren’t supposed to kiss.
We weren’t supposed to fall.

Now, every banter turned personal, and petty fights blurred into flirting.
Every boundary we set began to crumble.
Just when ‘LOVE’ trespassed.

Shaurya Ahuja
After my bitter divorce, I wanted peace.
What I got?
Nandini Raichand and her mango tree-obsessed grandfather, as I moved in next door.

We argued about everything.
From fallen leaves and fruits into my pool to her refusal to mind her own business.
Then New Year’s Eve happened.

One unexpected kiss.
And suddenly, I couldn’t stop thinking about her.

She’s sunshine and sass and everything I never planned for.
This was supposed to be a boundary dispute.
Only the mango tree knows when ‘LOVE’ trespassed.

“Sometimes love doesn’t arrive with flowers—it shows up with attitude, a smirk, and a knack for turning neighbors into something way more interesting.”

When Love Trespassed is a beautifully written, slow-burn, enemies-to-lovers romance between two neighbors. It’s a story about how a terrible first impression can slowly transform into friendship—and how two people can find support in the most unexpected place, right when they need it the most.

This book feels a little different from Madhuri Tamse’s usual style, yet at the same time, it’s quintessentially her—with sharp, witty banter, nuclear-hot chemistry, and an ensemble of utterly lovable characters.

“Who knew a horrible first impression, a nosy community, and one broody neighbor could turn into the hottest love story on the block?”

But this what happened here. We all know what it means to be a part of small gated community.

In this you get it all—nosy neighbors, caring friends, meddling aunties, and every shade of personality you can imagine. But it keeps u smiling all the time.

Nandini is an absolute firecracker—I adored her sense of humor and her fearless way of meeting every challenge head-on. Shaurya, on the other hand, is pure book-boyfriend perfection—a little broody, a little bossy, and on a whole new level of gorgeousness, charm, and flirty goodness.

Though Shaurya comes from a different social stratum and carries the weight of a wounded past, he has a deeply fair and compassionate heart. Their connection sparks instantly, layered with that delicious enemies-to-lovers tension. What starts as a neighborly misunderstanding slowly blossoms into an easy friendship. Grandpa’s illness plays the perfect matchmaker, while Madhuri throws in just enough twists, complications, and tiny heartbreaks to keep you hooked—before bringing it all together in the most wonderful way.

It’s a perfect pick for a quick, cozy read! If you’re in the mood for something warm, funny, and heart-tugging that you can finish in an hour or so, this one’s for you. Expect steamy moments and a bit of swearing—but no cliffhangers, just a beautifully earned happily-ever-after.

When Love Trespassed is an utterly adorable, small-community romance that held my heart by strings.

“And when they finally gave in, love didn’t just step inside—it set off fireworks big enough for the whole community to see.”

I have read plenty about cupids, but a mango tree playing matchmaker? Never. I'm not joking. This special tree is not just a character of the story, it is the story.

Shaurya Ahuja is fed up with the leaves and fruit dropping into his pool from the mango tree that stands between his home and Grandpa Keshav Raichand’s. Despite several warnings, Grandpa refuses to cut it as it’s planted by his late wife. Enter Nandini, his feisty granddaughter, who marches over to Shaurya’s house to protect her Daadi’s tree. And bam! There are fireworks when the two meet. How this hate slowly melts into something deeper is what this story is about.

Shaurya, the ‘hottie’ is my fav. Watching him grow and heal from the broken, egoistic grump to a loving, adorable partner, from being insecure n fearful about his past failures to embracing the joy of relationships, his journey is truly exceptional. And his grumpy cuteness, whether he’s flirting with Nandu or just being snooty about a tree ‘speaking’ to you is hilarious. His bantering, be it with Grandpa, Nandini or his bestie Varun is pure gold. And his Epilogue scene. It's Aww.

Nandini, fiercely protective about her loved ones, is a bundle of innocence and mischief. From fighting with Shaurya, to provoking him to ‘feel’, to ‘talking’ to her Daadi (yes, the tree), to starting her own startup, she is full of wit, sass and grit. Despite being a decade younger than Shaurya, she recognises his loneliness, his anger and responds to him with nothing but pure love.

And Grandpa? He’s the ultimate Daadu, wise, cheeky, and full of heart. His chemistry with Shaurya is dhamakedaar. Whether they are bickering over the mango tree or simply letting pride take over, they are two peas in a pod. And his payback to Shaurya? The things he makes the poor guy do🤦‍♀️. But despite all the drama, there’s a quiet understanding between them, no words needed.

Also, Varun (cutie), Priya, Lakshmi, Meera, entire Serene Meadows, and the mango tree (Daadi), make this story the best n one of a kind.

A heartfelt story where a mango tree bridges gaps, heals hearts, and sows the seeds of forever, this is must read.

I enjoyed this one. I was finally able to read something with my brain going into analyzing mode. Theirs was a nice story, cute even. I just didn’t like how grandpa acted when he found about their relationship. He was such a hypocrite. He can get married second time but not Shaurya ? Grandpa’s second wife’s dad can trust him without any thought about his baggage but he can’t tryst Shaurya with everything ? A load of bullshit i tell ya.
