On the night we were to mate and keep the peace between our packs strong, the alpha wolf I loved rejected our bond, shattered my future, and sold me to the highest bidder.
Now I’m trapped in the unseelie Shadow Court, the property of its ruthless king.
Cold. Brutal. A beautiful monster. Kaeleron holds me prisoner in a gilded cage, and I should hate him for it.
But every wicked smile, every promise veiled as threat breathed against my skin makes me crave the one thing I shouldn’t.
Him.
But I cannot surrender. I cannot break now, no matter how fiercely he tempts me.
I have to escape. I have to reach my pack—before they learn the truth and war ignites. Because it's not just my freedom at stake now, and if I can’t break free of Kaeleron’s chains, I won’t just lose myself.
I’ll lose everyone I swore to protect.

I really enjoyed this book, even though the beginning was intense and emotionally heavy. The story opens with Saphira, a wolf shifter, being rejected by her fated mate and sold at a black market auction. She's purchased by Kaeleron, an unseelie fae king, who brings her into a richly developed fae world that’s both magical and immersive. The world-building was beautifully done, detailed without being overwhelming and the inclusion of multiple courts gave it a vibe reminiscent of ACOTAR.
The pacing in the first half leans toward a slow burn, but I appreciated the time spent developing the characters and introducing intriguing side characters I hope to see more of. Told in dual POV, the story highlights Saphira’s powerful transformation from a broken, caged woman into someone strong, confident, and fiercely loyal. Kael is the definition of a morally grey, brooding protector, and the chemistry between them is filled with tension, banter, and well-written spice.
Speaking of spice, yes, this book gets steamy, but it never overshadows the plot. The romantic elements enhance the story rather than distract from it. Overall, this was a compelling and emotional fantasy romance, and I’m looking forward to where the series goes next.
*Many thanks to the author and The Nerd Fam for this gifted arc.*
The beginning was a bit rough and it took me a bit to get into this, but it was worth it to stick it out.
Saphira starts off as an innocent good-girl wolf shifter that is incredibly loyal, but after everything she goes through, she grows into a badass. Kaeleron is a brooding shadow daddy fae king who is also fiercely loyal to those he cares about. I loved how their dynamic was full of tension, banter, and just the right amount of slow burn. I did wish we got to see more of Vyr's story though.
The worldbuilding was excellent and blended two very different settings. This starts out in Canada with wolf shifter packs and then quickly moved to the fae realm which added a dark layer. I am always here for a good dark romantasy!
A strong start to the series and I’m definitely excited to see where Saphira and Kaeleron’s story goes next! Overall, if you're a fan of enemies-to-lovers, all the banter, and a paranormal romantasy this is a good one!
Thanks to #theNerdfam and the author for the gifted ARC!
Thank you to Felicity and The Nerd Fam for this early copy and the amazing box!! 😍😍
Can we just take a quick second to appreciate how pretty this book is! Wowzas!
Dual POV, shadow daddy unseelie fae king, wolf shifter FMC, mine, rejected mate, found family, feminine rage, touch her and 💀, hate to love, slow burn, they are both jealous and snarly😍, banter, quest for vengeance, who did this to you, mating heat, yearning, visions, morally grey MMC Please take note of the content warnings!
Saphira is so excited for her mating day, but it quickly takes the worst turn as the wolf she thought loved her betrays her to sell in a black market auction. Kaeleron is seeking her because his seer has seen that she is important to help him with his quest for vengeance. But now he has to win her over after buying her and temporarily putting her in a dungeon cell. Soon there are feelings on both sides as each of them deal with their reasons they should resist.
I devoured this book! Saphira is so feisty and I love that while she was forcibly sheltered growing up and may have trusted her mate easily, she is fierce and ready to fight for her family and Kael once she gets to know him. I enjoyed Kael baiting her and helping her prove to herself that she is a force to be reckoned with! There's a little found family going in Kael's court and I'm excited to get more of! A lot of things going on that I can't wait to see play out in the next book!
WOW, like wow! This is the king of slow burns I swear! Loved it tho! The characters growth for both of them was absolutely amazing through out the book (for the most part anyway). I really liked how their relationship developed and how Saphira was often able to our Kael in his place 😉🤣!
Kael and his flirting…OMG it’s so fantastic! I loved how his mission was to continually make her blush! I also definitely got some Beauty and the Beast vibes but it was not an obvious reimagining, which I loved.
I love how fierce and confident Saphira became by the end that she was able to see through Kael’s bullshit and I am super excited for the next book to see where it all goes and if Saphira can get her vengeance!!
These two had such fun banter it had me kicking my feet and giggling. I loved the push and pull they had. I loved the slow development of the world and the court politics. The growth of our FMC as she discovered more about her surroundings, Kaeleron and herself was amazing to read. This story had me in a rollercoaster of emotions and made me an instant fan of the author. Can’t wait to read more!
Whoaaaa okayyy!! First off YES! This book is a YES for me! I am so thankful to Felicity Heat for the ARC and I am officially obsessed! (Also this book is so good it put me in a reading slump 🫣) Book two is going to be banging I can already feel it!
Let’s start this off with some tropes/key factors 🙌🏼 ⭐️enemies to lovers ⭐️wolf shifter FMC ⭐️unseelie shadow king MMC ⭐️touch her and ☠️ ⭐️mating heat ⭐️fated mates ⭐️slow burn ⭐️captor / captive ⭐️good solid banter
This book brings 2 souls ate up in wanting vengeance together by some not so pleasant circumstance. The MMC is an extremely powerful unseelie king and the FMC is a sheltered wolf shifter. I will always be a lover of an FMC who starts out weak but fights to become strong because she has purpose and is willing to do anything to achieve it. Ummm yes it hits hard and IM HERE FOR IT! Everyone comes with their own set of tramas or deep dark reasons for things, which of course keeping the twists and turns on point throughout the whole book! The tension and banter were on fire and I could not get enough from these characters! Add in the slowwww burn and whoa the wait was so worth it! I literally can’t wait to jump into book 2 when it is ready 😍
Big thanks to Felicity Heaton for the ARC of Wolf Caged! This was my first read from her, and I’m so glad I picked it up.
I love a good romantasy, and this one delivered with a captivating mix of characters. Saphira, our FMC, is a wolf shifter who’s been held back her whole life—taught to stay safe, stay close, and stay protected. But when things don’t go according to plan, she crosses paths with Kaelron, our MMC. He’s all shadows, power, and command—the kind of character who rules with an iron fist and doesn’t ask, he orders. Their dynamic had me flipping pages as fast as I could.
Another highlight of Wolf Caged was the incredible variety of characters. From demons and vampires to other surprise creatures, Wolf Caged kept me hooked and eager for more.
I can’t wait to dive into book 2 and definitely plan on following this series to the end!
Ok ok ok …. Fangirling …. I love this author… I love her books… I literally screamed when I found out the author was FINALLY bringing a new book (trilogy) out.
So…..
"Wolf Caged" by Felicity Heaton kicks off the Bound to the Shadow King trilogy with an enthralling blend of romance, fantasy, and suspense. This captivating tale introduces us to an unseelie shadow king with a complex past and a wolf shifter whose resilience shines despite her difficult circumstances.
The story unfolds as our fierce wolf shifter, down on her luck (being sold by your would be mate!) and maneuvering through the harsh realities of life, finds herself entangled with a formidable fae king who harbors secrets darker than the shadows he commands. The dual POV brings depth to both characters, allowing us to appreciate their internal struggles and the undeniable chemistry that sparks between them.
The shadow king is a captivating antagonist-turned-love interest with an iron-clad grip on his emotions, making his journey of self-discovery and vulnerability compelling. His dark secret adds layers of tension and intrigue to the story, keeping us on our toes. On the other hand, Saphi our wolf shifter is refreshingly resilient, embodying a mix of strength and vulnerability. Her determination not to let her circumstances define her, along with her indomitable spirit, makes her a character that i totally rooted for.
This story explores classic themes found in romantasy, enemies to lovers, beauty and the beast, and found families. The tension and witty banter between the characters ignite the pages, providing both comedic moments and sizzling chemistry. The dynamic of "touch her and die" creates an electrifying stakes factor that kept me turn those pages.
The author writes such vivid imagery and lively dialogue that immerses us in this enchanting world. The pacing is well crafted, balancing heart pounding moments of tension with tender scenes that tug at your heartstrings. The infusion of mating heat coupled with emotional depth had me both clutching my kindle and reaching for the ice cold glass of water 😜.
"Wolf Caged" is a gripping opening to the Bound to the Shadow King trilogy that melds enchantment, danger, and undeniable chemistry into a delightful reading experience.
Fans of paranormal romance and fae mythology will be enchanted by the expertly woven tale of love blossoming against the odds. With hot banter, steamy moments, and intricate character development, this is one book you won’t want to put down until the final page.
If you're looking for a story that promises captivating encounters and an unshakeable bond, "Wolf Caged" is a must read!
And I wouldn’t call it a cliffhanger as such… But it does leave you wanting more of Saphi and Kael now!! 😜
The beginning of this book dragged a little for me, and it took a while before I felt fully pulled into the story but once it found its rhythm, I was hooked. The slow build did pay off in some ways, especially with the emotional depth, the gradual relationship development, and the strong themes of freedom versus being caged.
Saphira is such a fierce heroine, loyal, determined, and unwilling to fold even when the odds are stacked against her. I loved watching her growth as she realized her worth outside of fate and expectations. And Kaeleron? Broody, dangerous, and a little bit of a shadow daddy, his intensity and layered personality made their dynamic both tense and addictive. Their relationship really shines once the story picks up speed, full of angst, banter, and slow-burn tension.
The worldbuilding is vivid and creative, with the fae and shifter crossover adding high stakes and intrigue. While the pacing in the beginning wasn’t my favorite, by the time the twists started landing, I couldn’t put it down. If you enjoy fantasy romance with enemies-to-lovers vibes, emotional themes, and plenty of action, Wolf Caged is worth picking up. Thanks to the Nerdfam and the author for the gifted ARC
I love shifter romances. In fact, I’m always on the lookout for new ones. I am picky, though, because I constantly compare my love of Laurann Dohner books from back in the day. Her Mating Heat Series specifically comes to mind.
Author Felicity Heaton includes the mating heat component in her latest, Wolf Fated. Though the story is every bit of a slow burn, it is the type where the two characters, Saphira and Kaeleron, do other steamy things as it builds. The story is unique as it’s not like other wolf shifter fated mates books. Saphira is the wolf shifter rejected by her fated mate and sold to the unseelie King. The story is a Beauty and the Beast retelling except Saphira is quite snarky, which I liked. I liked Kaeleron’s character. He is one of those MMCs who is morally gray but only soft for her.
Wolf Caged does leave on a cliffhanger, and usually those do upset me, but this one was written quite well. It truly had shown Saphira’s strength and growth.
I loved the combination of shifters and Fae, the fantasy worldbuilding, the tension, the conflicts and the passion. Wolf Shifter Saphira is betrayed, broken and rejected, then sold at a black market auction. Now she's away from her pack, held captive in a strange world, and fearful to trust anyone again, especially her new master Kael. The Unseelie King didn't plan on buying a wolf, but when his seer tells him to save her and that she is vital for his plans of vengeance, Saphira is taken to his realm as captive. With his dangerous shadow powers, her approaching mating heat, Fae politics, rival drama, and lots of enemy to lover tension, this is a villain meets the innocent love story, and a chance at healing for both. He's possessive, she's protective, they are both driven by vengeance, and can't help but fall under each other's spell. If they work together then they can understand the seer's prophecy, and save each other. Loved the spice, loved the banter, love the side characters and fun interactions, and the plot keeps you guessing. This is book 1 in the series and definitely leaves you hungry for more.
when I tell you I LOVED this book! It starts off with our innocent, sheltered wolf shifter Saphira being sold at auction by her fated mate and bought by the Unseelie King, Kaeleron, who buys her in hopes she’ll help him get the vengeance he desperately needs - but let’s talk about him for a second
This toxic over protective possessive sweet talking shadow daddy fae king who KNOWS what he’s doing when it comes to mating heats had me clutching my pearls and SWEATING as if I was the one going through it
Saphira from start to finish was a strong, funny, witty character and I ADORE her. She refuses to break when she’s introduced to an entire different world and I was throwing up my fist and rooting for her in every chapter. If you like a FMC who doesn’t hold her tongue for powerful men you’ll LOVE her!
𝘠𝘰𝘶 𝘴𝘮𝘦𝘭𝘭 𝘰𝘧 𝘨𝘳𝘦𝘦𝘯 𝘱𝘢𝘴𝘵𝘶𝘳𝘦𝘴 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘴𝘶𝘯𝘴𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘦, 𝘰𝘧 𝘳𝘰𝘭𝘭𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘩𝘪𝘭𝘭𝘴 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘦𝘯𝘥𝘭𝘦𝘴𝘴 𝘣𝘭𝘶𝘦 𝘴𝘬𝘪𝘦𝘴” “𝘠𝘰𝘶 𝘳𝘦𝘦𝘬 𝘰𝘧 𝘴𝘸𝘦𝘢𝘵 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘭𝘦𝘢𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘳, 𝘢 𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘵 𝘰𝘧 𝘴𝘶𝘭𝘱𝘩𝘶𝘳 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘩𝘰𝘳𝘳𝘪𝘣𝘭𝘦 𝘵𝘢𝘯𝘨 𝘰𝘧 𝘮𝘢𝘨𝘪𝘤” miss girl i love you
I am DEVASTATED I finished this so quickly despite reading slowly to make the book last as long as possible. The enemies to lovers, found family, banter has me frothing at the mouth PLEASE read this!
In short if you like a man who hand makes her jewellery and weapons, executes those against women being in power in his army, vivid world building brilliantly done & a wild shifter FMC you’ll adore this.
I am BEGGING for book two because I miss these characters SO much & I can’t wait to see where it takes us. The cliffhanger nearly killed me.
Thank you to felicity and the nerd fam for my arc!!!
Wolf shifter meets Fae king in this new romantasy series. Saphira has known that she was fated to her best friend her whole life. When the unexpected happens and she is betrayed by the person closest to her she finds herself at the hands of the shadow king.
This is a romance heavy story. It focuses a lot on the relationship between the two main characters. There is also a lot of court politics at play. Some secrets , magic, and a good set up for a revenge plot. If you enjoy super possessive MMC’s you will love Kaeleron. I love a good villain gets the girl storyline. I’m interested to see what happens in the next book.
I’d give this 6 stars on all honesty. Anything wolf I am invested.
I absolutely devoured all 579 pages of this book in a day. I couldn’t read it fast enough.
The book is fast paced through out. A broken Wolf shifter FMC and a Unseelie king MMC of the shadow court what could go wrong. I did get an ACOTAR vibe with all the different courts while reading this.
Multiple tropes through out the book fated mates , slow burn, touch her and die, mating heat 🌶️🌶️🌶️ The world and characters created by Felicity were absolutely enthralling. The story is fantastic and yes I NEED more of Saphira and Kaeleron. Can’t wait for Wolf Hunted (Jan2026)
Definitely should be on your TBR. I need my own physical copy of this for my shelves
This book caught my attention right away. I loved the enemies to lovers aspect between our FMC and MMC. The growth of our FMC was so good and she turned into such a bad ass. Thank goodness the next book is coming out in January because I don’t want to wait long for book 2!
Thank you for letting me be on the ARC team The Nerd Fam!
I absolutely loved this book! Wolf Caged is a fantastic read, packed with twists, betrayal, and intrigue that kept me hooked from start to finish. The dual POV format adds real depth to the story, giving us richer insight into both main characters. I found myself equally invested in each, which made the emotional moments hit even harder. The writing is vivid and immersive — descriptions are not only accurate and well-executed but also beautifully creative. You can really feel the world the author has built. If you're a fan of fantasy, layered characters, and high-stakes drama, Wolf Caged is a must-read. I honestly can’t wait for the next installment in the series!
Everyone, stop what you’re doing and read this book!
If you love romantasy, this is the one for you. It gave me ACOTAR and Beauty and the Beast vibes, but there was sooooo much more than that!
A wolf-shifter FMC who’s been through some tough stuff — her character was so well written, I was rooting for her the entire time. And need I even say anything about my beloved Kael? He’s too precious. 🥺
Wolf Caged is brilliant. It hooked me from page one, and it was very hard to put down. A magical world intertwined with our modern one (this pleasantly surprised me — it's not something I’ve ever seen in a romantasy book before). I adored the slow burn; the TENSION between the MMC and FMC was palpable. Warning: there are some very spicy scenes. 👀
I cannot wait for book #2!
Thank you very much to the author for providing me with an eARC — all opinions are my own.
This book is amazing !!!! I’m absolutely in love with it and so gutted I’m going to have to wait for the next two books. The perfect balance of fantasy and romance.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book, though the beginning of it was heartbreaking and brutal. We are thrown right into the action with Saphira, a wolf shifter, getting rejected by her fated mate and sold to the highest bidder in a black market auction. Kaeleron, an unseelie fae king, is the one who purchases her and brings her to a world that is completely different than her own. Jumping from the modern human world, I was quickly and easily immersed into the beautiful fae world. The author did a wonderful job with the world building and described the setting perfectly, without overdoing it. This world reminded me a little bit of ACOTAR with all the different courts, and the map at the beginning of the book was very detailed and fun to flip back to and reference while reading.
Some of the beginning/middle of this book was a pretty slow burn, but I didn’t mind that. There were some interesting side characters that were introduced in that time that I can’t wait to see more of. This book is a dual POV between Saphira and Kaeleron and I loved it! Saphira transforms from a broken and beaten down, caged (literally and figuratively) wolf to a strong and confident one who absolutely knows her worth and will defend the ones she loves, no matter the cost. Her transformation from beginning to end was beautiful. Kael is a swoon-worthy, morally grey shadow daddy, and is the very definition of touch her and 💀 (my favorite!). Their interactions were full of spicy banter and tension, and I thoroughly enjoyed watching their relationship develop. Fair warning- this book is pretty steamy! I personally care about plot over spice, but I have to say that the spicy scenes in this book were done incredibly well!
It did end on a bit of a cliff hanger, but I personally loved the ending of this book regardless, it was beautifully written. I’ll be over here on the edge of my seat waiting for book two until it comes out! This is the perfect spooky season read (or anytime of year read) for fans of paranormal romantasy, slow burn, fae, shifters, morally grey heroes, enemies to lovers, scorching banter, and so much more! Thank you so much to The Nerd Fam and author Felicity Heaton for the beautiful PR box and physical ARC!
Okay besties, it’s been a hot second since I did one of these reviews but I need to just scream into the void real quick because THIS. BOOK. RUINED. ME. In the best, most unhinged, feral, “I will never recover” way possible.
First of all, I haven’t been this rabidly obsessed with a book since ACOMAF (and if you know me, you know that is the holy grail of high praise). 661 pages? Ate them up in 48 hours like a woman possessed. Honestly felt like my soul left my body, watched an IMAX movie in my brain, and then refused to come back until I was done.
Let’s talk about Kael. King Kaeleron the Wrathful. Sir “When you are ready, I will ruin you so thoroughly you’ll never want anyone else.” Meets “You smell of green pastures and sunshine” THE RANGE?! SIR??? You can’t just serve up sunshine metaphors and then threaten to rearrange my entire existence in the SAME breath. He is toxic fae king coded but also has me giggling, kicking my feet, and highlighting every single page like a deranged academic studying my own heartbreak.
And Saphira? Girl is fire wrapped in wolf fur and I was rooting for her every. damn. step. She’s the kind of heroine who makes you want to bare your teeth at men on her behalf but also fist-pump every time she refuses to fold.
The vibes? Enemies-to-lovers on steroids. Banter so sharp it could slit throats. Found family moments that had me clutching my chest like a Victorian widow. Mating heat so intense I had to set the book down and reevaluate my life choices.
The ending?? Felicity Heaton had no business leaving me there on the edge of a cliff, frothing at the mouth like some kind of rabid book gremlin, but HERE I AM.
Verdict: If you want an unseelie shadow daddy with filthy promises, a wolf girlie who refuses to break, and a world that feels like it ate you alive, this book will consume you whole. I am feral. I am ruined. I am BEGGING for book two 😭😭
I cannot BELIEVE that I got a PR package for this and that I got to hold it in my hands as I spiralled into a feral horny mess for my king Kael 😭😭
Thank you @felicityheaton and to @thenerdfam for this opportunity ♥️♥️
This didn’t work for me. It was supposed to be about rejected mates, but the way fated mates work was unclear. It’s rare and a lot of wolves never find their mate, but her parents asked a witch and she told them who her mate is. And that’s it. There was no real connection to her mate. Her mate was totally unaffected and was able to sell her without feeling anything. And why don’t all wolves just ask a witch then?
Also she was pretty much over it in the first 10% of the book. After that she only wanted vengeance, which she could have wanted on anyone who randomly kidnapped and sold her. It seemed that any man could have “helped” her during the mating heat. So the plot would not have been affected without it.
There was also no genuine connection between Saphira and Kael. They didn’t have a normal conversation throughout the book. He’s saying stuff like “The little lamb bleeds darkness” and “What does my little lamb want from me”. Very unnatural sounding to me. Their relationship is build on their “needs”.
Kael is the typical fae - more than 500 years old and no limits to his magic. He can do anything from refilling cups to fighting using shadows, to teleporting, to shifting. I found him too cliche. He doesn’t seem to be doing a very good job as a king too. He’s closed all borders, including for trading and travel. He killed one of the fae females because she fought with Saphira, when Saphira attacked her first, so not fair. He doesn’t participate in the ceremonies although they sort of recharge the magic of the lands. I don’t know how he’s still king except that he’s all powerful.
The supporting characters have some potential and I was interested in what happened to Kael’s brother, but that wasn’t answered at the end of the book and I don’t think I will continue with the series.
The word incarnate was used 7 times, which is 6 times too many imo. Overall the book could have used more editing
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
“I was never letting her go. Saphira was mine. And Great Mother help anyone who tried to take her from me.” 🥵
Can I have my own Kael?? Please and thank you ☺️
First shifter book for the fall season coming upon us and I was NOT disappointed. Heaton delivers an action packed, banter filled fantasy romance that will have you on a roller coaster of emotions. From the very beginning the story was filled with enough intrigue to keep you from putting it down. I really loved every character we met. They each had great substance and definitely belonged in the story for their own reasons. Not just some fun filler. A gradual build of the relationship between Saphira and Kaeleron was executed perfectly to me.
Wolf Caged is book one in the Bound to the Shadow King series. We follow Saphira who is fated to the son of the Alpha in the Hunt pack. Who years ago was in a quarrel with her own pack. This quarrel only subsiding when finding out she was fated to the Alpha’s son. This revelation weighed heavy on Saphira as she grew up in her pack. Being held so tightly she was unable to experience many things. Her home was just a gilded cage. When the time comes to finally be with her fated mate, Lucas, something she never expected happened. He rejected her, and sold her. Her selfish fated mate would rather power and wealth than follow fate. Insert Kaeleron the unseelie fae king of the shadow court. His seer had a vision, and Saphira is the key to the vengeance he has desired for so long. Once Kaeleron brings Saphira back to his court everything he thought he brought her there for changes. Soon they finally get another vision from the seer and they are off to find what they need for Kaeleron. Unfortunately their travels there put them in a precarious situation and Kael realizes he will not risk Saphi any longer. But will she take no for an answer? Will she leave the one person who showed her who she truly is? Well we’re gonna have to wait for book two!
Thank you Felicity Heaton for my eARC 🫶🏼 I can’t wait for more of Saphi and Kael
I had the incredible pleasure of getting an ARC of wolf caged! (I’m going to keep this as spoiled free as possible)
The first part started a little slow up until Saphira was sold and taken to a whole new world. I didn’t expect it to have a bit of a modern twist (usually im not the biggest fan of urban fantasies but this quickly proved otherwise)
The banter between Saphira and Kael (cute nickname) was thoroughly enjoyable to read. I loved seeing how Saphira started off weak and scared and truly grew into who she truly was. Reading from both point of views was intriguing because you truly got to see the mindset and dynamics between both characters. I enjoyed the world building. I will say parts of the story reminded me a bit of Acotar (some of the court names were the same) but it had its own twist and flair and tons of mythical creatures like demons, vampires, wolves, seelie and unseelie. You can definitely feel the tension and yearning between the characters and this unyielding stubbornness to give into their true feelings. It definitely made me want to smack the characters at times and be like JUST DO IT! Hahaha. I love the romantasy aspect but it definitely had great plot that drove the story forward and at a decent pace.
Overall I loved this book. I gave it 4 stars only because parts of the book reminded me so much of other romantasy books (i wish the courts were named some thing else) and that took a bit away from the story but over all I thoroughly enjoyed it. The book ended not as a cliff hanger but it set us up for the next one and kept me wanting more! I will be buying the physical copy because I truly loved the book and I feel like this can be the next best romantasy book this year!
Thank you so much again for allowing me the opportunity to read this before it debuted! Now I have to wait til Jan to see how this war unfolds!
I had to go back and read the first chapter again but the second time around it hit even harder. Knowing what was coming made the details sharper, almost painful, and I couldn’t help but notice how Heaton laced in shadows of foreshadowing that I completely missed the first time. That’s what makes this book so consuming—every layer is deliberate, every moment leading to the shattering turn that changes everything.
Saphira’s journey is not the soft, dreamy path of a fated mate romance. It’s raw, it’s violent, and it tears at the heart in ways that left me clutching the book long after I should have gone to bed. Lucas’s betrayal is brutal, not just because of what he does but because of how completely it destroys the picture of love we’ve been led to believe in. I felt gutted alongside Saphira, but I also admired the way she refuses to disappear into her pain, even when it threatens to consume her.
And then there’s Kaeleron. He brings a new kind of danger, a shadow that doesn’t smother but challenges, tempts, and ignites curiosity. Heaton balances their dynamic so well—it’s tense, magnetic, and impossible to look away from. By the time he steps into the story fully, I was hooked in a different way, craving the clash and connection that he promises.
This book is dark, yes, but it’s also beautifully written, full of atmosphere and emotion. It’s a story of broken destiny and the slow, defiant act of piecing yourself back together. I can’t stop thinking about it, and I already know I’ll be rereading sections while waiting impatiently for the next installment.
I loved this so much! it does start out a bit slow, but that's kinda to be expected with a new series and how thick this book is. So just give it time! personally, I was hooked from the start. I'm a sucker for wolf shifters.
I don't typically like comparing books, I like for them to stand on their own, but this one was giving me Shadow Beast Shifters vibes by Jaymin Eve & that had me going absolutely FERAL because I loved that series so much and to get those same vibes was everything! I haven't found another series like it until now.
the banter was definitely bantering, and I was 100% giggling and kicking my feet. 🤭 and the TENSION. omg. I ate this up. Saphira's character growth was next level, the world is magical, and the ending?! WHY. why you do that to me Felicity? 😩 book two, immediately. please & thank you!
this is one of those I loved so much my thoughts are scrambled and I still can't come up with a coherent review. so sorry if you're reading this mess. 😂😅
more to expect : - rejected mate - enemies to lovers - banter for days - touch her & you know - dual pov
thank you so much to the author, Felicity, and The Nerd Fam for gifting me with an e-arc!
Book friends, if you are craving a wolf shifter and fae romance book, look no further!
Wolf Caged follows Saphira, a wolf shifter, as she traverses Lucia with Unseelie Fae King Kaeleron.
Saphira always knew she was destined to mate Lucas, the alpha of the Hunt pack, to keep peace between her pack and his. But the night of her mating ceremony, Lucas shows his real colors and sells her in a black-market auction. And who buys her? Our dark fae Kaeleron. 😈
Kael’s seer told him a wolf shifter would bring him the vengeance he’s been chasing for centuries. As soon as he saw Saphira, he knew she was the one, snatches her up and brings her to his court. As they spend time together to figure out her role, an attraction begins to form. Do they find out why she is important? Read to find out!
This was my first book by Felicity and I loved it! This was a book I didn’t know I needed until I finished it. A wolf shifter and fae romance?! 1000% hell yes. Saphi has gone through some tough shit and had a sheltered life. It was amazing to see her grow into a badass, take no shit shifter that we knew she could be. And sweet ‘ole Kael, you dark, ‘push her away because she is just a tool for vengeance’ Fae, I love you. Kael is fierce and protective of his court after what he’s gone through and loved to see him begin to open up to Saphi and realize that she just may be something more than a tool for his revenge. But the banter, the slow burn TENSION and spice in this book had me reeling! It was HOT 🥵
Kael has now been inducted into my “shadow daddies obsessed MMC” list that I will never stop thinking about. Thank you so much Felicity and Nerd Fam for the opportunity to read this as an arc. I’ll just be over here dying until book two releases next year. 😭
