On the one hand, the background of the FMC, Mollie, was well established. Her backstory of being trafficked was woven into the story well with flashbacks from her past therapy sessions, which was a unique perspective that I really liked. The relationships between the side characters, such as her friends, spanned wide, and I found myself regularly second guessing the motives of the men as the author intended.
The ending was so twisty, I didn’t see it coming at all. That said, it felt very rushed and sudden, leaving me going “what???” at the turn of events. Several of the ending moments/plot twists were not even hinted at in the rest of the book, but I feel this may have been for shock factor?
There were also a LOT of spicy scenes. Many of these I didn’t hate, but I struggled to take Max seriously. The spice itself was fine, but his words? The degradation was meant to make us hate him but instead of hating him he made me cringe with his words. Then he shows back up and is all praise praise praise? It didn’t make sense to me.
However, I had so many moments where I wanted to DNF this, purely because of the lack of editing. There were so many missing pieces of punctuation and so many grammar mistakes- the wrong your/you’re and the constant use of “women” instead of woman. I’m fully aware that this is nitpicky, but I feel that a high standard of English is important, especially in a published works.
Really great thriller. Seen people talking about it on tiktok so gave it a go. Really well written and kept me hooked. I was shocked to find some spicy scenes within the book which I thought worked really well with the thriller. The ending WOW can't wait for the next part
I went into this book think it was going to be a normal thriller - how wrong was I!!
Yes ,it is a thriller with it's fast pace, twists & turns - some will give you whiplash! but it also has spice off the scale, whilst giving the book plot depth as it covers some very dark themes of human trafficking.
I really enjoyed the style of the writing, as you followed 2 timelines throughout the book enabling you to gradually get more & more of the background of the main female character Mollie. It really showed the importance of a good support network when you go through traumatic times.
This book just sucks you in from the very 1st chapter & spits you out at the end, leaving you with a WTF! moment - 100% would recommend.
The perfect blend of spice, suspense and secrets! I read this book as an arc so I knew there was a cliffhanger coming, but I was NOT expecting that! I am now impatiently waiting for the second book! I really enjoyed the chemistry between the main characters, and I’m very excited to see where the second book will lead.
This book had me in a chokehold!!! If you love a thriller with extra spice I would highly recommend this book!! The twists and turns have me whiplash. Such a good story. It’s one of those stories that stays with you after you finish it
The spice is SPICING 🌶️ This book kept me guessing right until the very end. I immediately NEED the next book as the ending left me SHOOK. Also kinda made my wish I lived my 20s in a city with my best gal pals, seems like the life 😂🍸
4✨️ because i can see the potential in the series.
ARC reading - i enjoyed the storyline and eager to see what happens next. Characters are all likeable even if they do make annoyingly bad decisions.
The ARC version of the book has several grammatical errors that make it slightly hard to read at times but these apparently have been fixed for the published version of the book.
