“Severe Weather Floods” is one in a series of books on severe weather. The text is simple (appropriate for K-1) and the pictures are vivid photos. In some instances pictures are annotated with key words that are also featured in the visual glossary at the end of the book.
The text is very matter of fact and also offers accessible ways for children to stay safe during a flood and around flood waters. As many parts of the United States seem to experience more and more extreme weather events, this is timely and informative for young readers.
This book would be great for kids who are interested in weather events or who have experienced them (or even seen them on a screen).
Classroom considerations: The publisher provides additional information, including lesson plans on their website. This book is most appropriate for early elementary classrooms.

This is so brief it's almost harder to review than a book for an older audience would be. With little to judge, we just have a few snappy sentences, leading to the sensible warning about floodwater not being nice to be in, and some very suitable photos. This really is the basics – a 'my first bad weather' book, although as it's in a set of six it might not literally end up as your first. I normally prefer such sets to be one book and not multiple, costly titles, but this is for the tenderest of wrists, so I'll let it pass.

I thought that this was a good introduction to floods and what causes them. The book is very basic and the language used would be great for those just starting out at school on their reading and learning journeys.
The images used were good and the layout of the book made it an easy read too.
It would need to have a bit more content to give about 3 stars from me for this one

I've already been sharing this with friends and with my work social group, where they loved the cover. This book is worth it for the adorable dog pictures but it also has fantastic directions so people can create these hats themselves. Thanks so much to NetGalley for this ARC
