I question every reader’s cognitive ability that rated this book 5 ⭐️… This book lacked everything: basic plot line, world building, a believable foundation between our main characters that wasn’t f*cking! This was absolute garbage and I can’t believe I wasted my time with this book.

I enjoyed a lot of aspects of this book. However if someone referred to my lady garden as a ‘velvet fist’ I would have to let my fist meet their face 😂
The FMC Neslihan is a strongly independent woman who has her life flipped upside down multiple times. She is fierce, she’s superior in intelligence and strength. The mmc Kaan is a tortured twisted man who has spent lifetimes playing a part and believes he is now an evil creature and all it can take to change the perception of himself is a political deal. The forced aspects of their relationship and intimate relations were ok but sometimes I do find I struggle a little when the fmc can’t admit to her feelings a bit earlier on but still sleeps with the mmc and it sometimes just needed the correct terminology in my opinion.
I really enjoyed the character Banu. A fearless feisty fairy and the fmc’s best friend. She honestly was hilarious. There was a really well written magical world built throughout the book.
I did find some of the intimate scenes a little lacking with descriptions and details and would have preferred if they had been a bit more context and used the correct words but maybe that’s just because I am more of a dark romance reader as of late.
I did highlight two phrases used very early on as they were brilliant and I think really fed into Kaan’s character well, wish there had been more of these kind of strong quotes used throughout.
I didn’t see the ‘full’ plot twist coming but when mentions of additional information surfaced regarding the mmc’s previous lover I could see where it was heading. When the prophecy is mentioned as much as it was you kinda got that’s what was going to happen.
The ending for me does leave it open for the next book however I don’t know how I feel about it. I felt like the book deserved a better ending? It reminded me a little of the ‘and then I woke up and realised it was all a dream’ endings as a child and I just felt like this felt rushed maybe compared to all the other parts of the book leading there.
Overall I did enjoy the read. The darkness of the characters. The intelligence of them. Their growth in relationships and snippets into what could have been but I do feel like it could have been a lot better if certain aspects were amended.

If you actually enjoy reading, avoid this book at all costs.
This is an unintentional parody of what a dark romantasy book should be.
There is zero world building, zero character development and more plot holes than I have fingers to count. Without giving anything away, all I can say is 10/10 would not recommend.

this is garbage.
First of all, our main character is an assassin but lacks even the most MINIMAL ability to control her emotions, or to follow her own plans.
FMC "I need to be stealthy and not show my strength or hidden weapons until I've acquired a more stable position inside of the shadow court"
also our FMC "I'm gonna fucking throw every single weapon at my opponent, showing all my combat abilities and magic training the first fucking night I have to spend with him"
What kind of trained assassin escapes her "captors " putting a complete operation (as well as the lives of her family) at jeopardy just to see her lover and fuck him before getting married?????
Not to mention wasting a valuable and SCARCE sleeping potion and showcasing her capability to find covert passages.

This book. 😡 No, this book ending. 🤬 NO, this absolute bullshit use of a miscommunication trope that I did not see coming until I was basically finished so there was no avoiding it. 😡🤬. Let’s ruin a perfectly spicy, funny lil romantasy with a lazy plot twist that literally didn’t need to happen. Rant over…along with my interest in this series. Maybe. I have anxiety so obviously I want to know what happens in book 2…But I’m not happy about it.

To start, this is the first book I have ever DNFed. Ever. And I've read some awful books.
The best way to describe this is clearly AI spewn nonsense. There was barely any plot, and the plot that existed didn't make any coherent sense.
The characters were never consistent in their thought processes. Things happened off page that were addressed when there was no time for them to happen. The banter was so painstakingly obviously AI created. I tried. I REALLY tried. I made it 71% of the way through before I just had to call it quits.
The narration and dialogue were repetitive. Honestly, I think what hurts the most is that this was supposedly authored by two people, and it seems neither author bothered to proofread their own material to see if it made any sense.
I'm only going to give one example, but I promise the book is RIDDLED with them. At one point during our story, the FMC finds a prophecy in a library about her union to the MMC. She refuses to believe it but has a heated discussion with her fairy best friend.
CHAPTERS later, the FMC is abducted by her ex possessing someone else's body who tells her about this prophecy and how the person he possessed knew about it, and that's how he found out.
TWO PAGES LATER and the FMC is telling the MMC, "My ex just told me about this prophecy I've never heard of before, but apparently he's known all along, and so has my father."
That's where I called it quits. If you can't even keep the tiny thread of plot you have cohesive, it's just bad.

I couldn't get past the body betrayal
It's probably my fault I checked the triggers but those weren't actually the problem which i knew there was non- consent which is fine (in books) . But I stopped reading at 22% because of the FIRST scene of them together and the "body betrayal syndrome" which drives me nuts. I hate it. The mmc offs the man she supposedly loves but just can't help herself and begs him in the bedroom. Ugh. She's supposed to be mentally tough, i don't care about the bond or not that hasn't been talked about yet I'm guessing they have but to have her give in in the first quarter of the book the first time? Yuck. No thanks I'm done. I feel like there could've been other things she could've done or said or at least wait until further down the road scenes for that. He literally told her as it was happening that he used her lover's bones as decoration in the bed and she still begged him. I was looking forward to reading this series but I don't think i can get past that considering it'll probably happen again. The whole body betrayal is overused and to use it in the beginning of a book seems a bit lazy, especially when they are technically true enemies.

I don't read Romantasy very often, but i do like it. It did take me some pages to get into the story. But once I got into the story, I didn't want to put the book done. It's dark and well written. I find the details in the book very good, which makes it easy to read. Also, how the story flows easily through the book, but then it ends in a cliffhanger. No, I'm not ok.
Kaan, the shadow lord, feared by many for centuries long! And for a reason because he destroys everything and everyone that dares to cross him. But yes, I fell for him! I want more of Kaan, possessive, dark, but carring and loving at the same time.
"Nesilhan is mine. By blood, by magic, by choice. And I will burn the world to ash to get her back. The hunt begins now."
Nesilhan, a very strong FMC, fights for what she stands for! She is a light court assassin and has been recruited at a young age for training! Now forced into a marriage to Kaan to save her brothers life and with one goal kill him.
But how further their story unfold how more she find out that everything had been told to here are based on lies.
"Have you considered that the man who raised you to be a weapon might not be telling you the whole truth"
Beside Kaan and Nesilhan and their banter between all the tension, we also have Emir, right hand, and a friend of Kaan. and we have Buna, Fairy, and friend of Nesilhan. Oh, I loved the sarcastic honesty of Buna!! And how she wins over everyone, including Emir. I'm do want more of them.
Thank you for this ARC book. Can't wait for the next one. Because I really want to know how this is going to end.

This book had everything enemies to lovers, magic, fairys, Spice and humour.
I was engrossed from start to finish i lived in the world. It had twist and turns,got me excited and stressed and a little heartbroken.
The best lines 👌
"Evil is just a word people use when they lack imagination," I told her. "I prefer 'morally innovative.'"
I didn't slip," I say, drawing myself up indignantly. "I was demonstrating a new fighting technique that involved rapid ground engagement."
You like them knowing I'm on my knees worshipping you like the queen you are."

What can i say apart from I have a new Shadow Daddy!! Shadow Lord, Kaan Karanlikoglu....He is just devious and delicious.
I took a little while to fully get into this book, but I've just ended it literally in tears! I need to know what happens next (book 2 has obviously been pre-ordered) Nesilhan & Kaan are the perfect couple! Who knew.....they do say opposites attract though.
I urge anyone who love Fantasy with some Shadow Smut thrown in to read this. I already know a few people that will read it. I'm sad I've finished it now, and it goes without saying that i need a physical copy for my bookcase as a trophy!

Iv got to say I was quite impressed with the start of the book it got me intrigued to read more Kaan is a ruthless monster known by everyone has set his seights on Nesilhan. for a few years and finally gets an opportunity using her brother as a pawn to get his was so many things that keep you guessing just when you think you get an idea of how the story line will go ..its shocks you by going a different route.. Nesilhan. is my favourite character she’s strong and courageous and a headstrong woman who sets out to protect her family I look forward to reading the next book.

I really wish I had DNF’d this book. I kept reading, thinking it would get better, but it never did. The writing felt immature and extremely repetitive, with the same thoughts and emotions repeated without the story actually going anywhere. The pacing was slow, and the tone and writing style seemed inconsistent from chapter to chapter, which made the book feel disjointed.

This book is so bad. There is legit zero world building. The MMC is immortal, but we never find out if the FMC is. The only positive is that the FMC is 30 and not something stupid like 18.
There are random “beings” and other realms mentioned but legit no explanation about them or even what society is like within their homeland. There are also other courts, but once again, zero explanation.

First in its genre I have read. Enjoyed the story especially the descriptive writing. Interesting characters with good background. Looking forward to next book to find out what happens.

I’m still confused about so much.
The origins of powers, who’s human, fae, immortal. Either I missed it completely or there wasn’t enough background? I’m guessing lots of holes will be filled in book 2? Why is there war to begin with?
How did Aslan have that power to go into a random guy’s body? I’m still confused about that whole part but maybe I skimmed and it’s related to shadow magic?
I thought the bond was unbreakable but maybe not?
I thought she was like a master assassin but that seems to come and go as it’s convenient to the plot. What’s her power again other than being radiant?
Also please stop calling her “light lady”….

The spice starts strong but does get a bit repetitive. I actually enjoyed the romance, the push-pull of the main characters was enough to keep be invested. I may even consider reading book 2 though I hate the amnesia trope. I am giving this one star because it’s a bit of a chaotic read, but I still did actually enjoy it overall and finished it quickly, so take that as you will.

Not the worst book I've ever read but man, it was close. no world building, the main characters have zero personality, and it literally like every other dark romantacy out right now except this one couldn't hold my attention.

I realllly tried, but I can say with confidence that anyone who rates this above 3 stars clearly doesn’t need a plot or believable backstory or cohesive timeline or communication to say they read a book. Don’t get me started on Banu, all bold banter that turned sniveling powerless at the first sighting. This was filler words to just lead you to the next smut session. DNF! And I didn’t start skimming till after 50%.
