fukumaru continues his journey to find his brother, who has a hard life as a stray cat. he searches the neighborhood to find the all knowing golden dog, only to discover that he knew the all knowing golden dog all along! chako is kobayashi’s dog, and at first she refuses to help fukumaru because she’s jealous of all the attention he gets from her owner, but ultimately ends up helping him get on the right path to find his brother.
I looooved this. It was so adorableeeeee. I loved Fukumaru's efforts to find his stray cat brother - he made me laugh out loud a couple of times. I also loved that we learned more about Kanda. And the ending was really good, very moving. I'm definitely invested and interested in how this new character, Kanda's father-in-law, will evolve.
I usually hate it when a mean-spirited, cruel person gets anything good in life. Like, I wouldn't keep trying with a person like that the way Kanda has, but I do like the idea of kindness being transformative. I like the idea that Kanda's genuine selfless kindness and genuine desire to connect with his asshole father-in-law actually make a difference in that man's mindset and trigger the beginning of maybe becoming a better person, making amends, taking accountability, changing...
I think there's definitely something to be said about giving the kind of people Kanda's father-in-law is portraying an opportunity to be better. If they take it, seeing someone transform themselves into a better version of themselves is always beautiful.
Love these books! It was challenging in the beginning to read the books properly, a good exercise for the brain.
As the story continues Fukumaru is still searching for his big brother. It seems that he needs to find the well-informed golden dog for help. It seem that the brother was seen on the grounds of a mean man. And in the mix of all this Kanda's best friend Kobayashi.
How is Kobayashi connected? Will Fukumaru get to find his brother? When will I be able to get 'A Man and His Cat 16'? And 'A Man and His Cat 17'?
Kobayashi is endearing! One of those people who slowly badgers you into love with his kindness
I'm enjoying this new arc with Fukumaru's brother and (the focus on Kobayashi and his wife's family), who had a rougher life as a stray. The new crying musician of the week was starting to get old.
I absolutely loved this so much!!! The series as a whole was amazing and I am soooo excited for the coming volumes!!!! But I don’t think this is a book for all cuz it's literally just about a cat and his owner and their daily lives, nothing crazy yk.
