Fairytale Rule

Ordinary people fall into adventures all the time – especially when they least expect it.

Brielle is living out her fairytale dream at Once Upon a Time University, but it’s exam season and with all the late-night studying and extra classes, she still hasn’t found a moment to tell Bear how she really feels about him. As Bear starts to get closer to cheerleader Sasha, and Brielle reconciles with ex Pavão, divisions begin to form between the pair.

After the summer holidays, Brielle determines to rewrite her fairytale rules and tries to reconnect with Bear. But with the Masquerade Ball fast approaching, will she be too late to spark romance?

Hope, dreams and magical secrets collide in this stunningly illustrated and irresistibly romantic coming-of-age fairytale, where the path to happily ever after is never easy …

Thanks to Harper Fire Books for sending me a copy of this and the previous graphic novel in the series!

3.5⭐️

I preferred this one to the first, the plot had a lot more going on and we got some good backstory on some of our characters :)

Again, there’s some great inclusivity in these novels, but if you’re going to be purposefully inclusive of lots of different people, I would love to see some different sexualities represented, I know the author is religious so maybe that’s why there isn’t… but I would hope that isn’t the case, I’d hate to think that it’s left out for a reason.

Overall I enjoyed the reading experience and the art style is really lovely!

I loved this book! It was such a fun read, and one that I have been waiting for for a long time!!

Brielle has been loving her fairytale lifestyle at Once Upon a Time University, but right now it’s exam season, and she wishes that she was an actual princess in an actual fairytale, as Princesses never do exams, plus they always look so shiny and perfect, which isn’t always reality. And with her closeness with her best friend Bear starts to drift apart as they talk to other people, she is determined to finally tell him how she feels. But with the Masquerade Ball fast approaching, and with Bear busy with the War of the Roses rugby matches, will she be able to spark a romance in time?

I loved this book! It was the sequel to the first book in this series: Brielle and Bear: Once Upon a Time, and I absolutely loved that book, and this one definitely did not disappoint! I do (sadly) believe that this is the final book in the series, which is a shame as I have loved this series so much, but I can’t see what else Salomey comes up with! This book had the perfect fairytale ending, and I loved how it still seemed dreamy even though lots of stressful things were going on. I loved all the characters, and even if they were side characters, they all seemed to play huge parts in the story! I really hope that lots of readers read this beautiful Graphic Novel series, as it truly is magical!

Brielle and Bear are such incredible characters and I love them both so dearly!! All the characters actually, they're all so unique and flawed and real!!

This was such a fun read and honestly the perfect read for me as I started to feel myself falling into a reading slump. It's was so cute and really hit me in the feels. It made me way more emotional then I thought it would, but I was absolutely here for it and I loved how it all came together. I also feel like we got quite a lot of character development in this one and I really liked getting to see a lot more of the side characters that we met in the first book.

I absolutely recommend this graphic novel series. The artwork is beautiful and I love the different storyline and overall representation throughout. It's such a fun and light-hearted story and I have grown to love these characters so much! I can't wait to read whatever Salomey Doku writes and illustrates next!
