AS OF 8-16-2017 THIS BOOK HAS BEEN REVISED AND RE-EDITED FOR YOUR READING PLEASURE.
A dark twisted tale of abduction, kidnapping, and two very broken individuals who bring out the worst in each other. This is NOT a love story. It is however a dark erotic tale of a man who is severely damaged. A man who becomes very dangerous when it comes to his captive bride. There will be bloodshed and lives lost before Antonio Wayne ever lets Roxanne go.
This is a very DARK read with triggers. It deals with human trafficking and all the ugly that goes with it. If you're sensitive to triggers I do NOT recommend reading this.
Antonio Wayne:
I pulled on my brother’s arm; screaming, as he forced me to board the plane to America.

“I’ll be good, I swear I will.”

“It isn’t about you being good; it’s about you staying alive, Hermano. You are all I have. I can’t afford to lose you to the drug cartel. I’ll send for you.”

My heart broke the day my brother put me on that plane, but that was the day that I became a man. I vowed that day to never love again and it has served me well. I am now one of the most deadly and high ranking mobsters in New York City.

Roxanne:
I traveled the world as a cage fighter. Hey, no girl wants her face messed up, so my friend and I came up with an idea; only fight each other and throw the fights so that the ‘upsets’ would cause us to make more money. We were doing fine until we stole from the Ramirez brothers. My best friend is now the property of Ricardo Ramirez (Their story is in the book Rubia) who resides in Guatemala City and I am now the property of Antonio Wayne Ramirez, one of the most deadly and feared men in New York City. My husband is obsessed with me and will stop at nothing to keep me in his possession.

Antonio:
I vowed from childhood to never love again after growing up in the back streets and the jungles of Colombia. My brother put me on a plane to the US and I clawed my way up through the gutters to become the man I am today.

My heart broke the day my brother put me on that plane, but that was the day that I became a man. I vowed that day to never love again and it has served me well. I am now one of the most deadly and high ranking mobsters in New York City. The day she stole from my brother is the day that she became my property.

My captive very quickly becomes my obsession and I will stop at nothing to keep her. I am brutal, I am ruthless, I am vicious, I am cruel, I am savage, and I am a man who will stop at nothing to not only gain, but maintain control. If pleasure works then so be it. If stronger measures of pain need to be taken, then so be it.

To keep up with all things Suzanne Steele you can find her on Facebook and her wordpress blog. Everything there is up to date. She loves her beautiful readers.
Suzanne Steele is an Amazon Bestselling Author and television host for a TV program in the Charlotte NC area. She focuses on volunteer work and is very heavily involved in giving back to her local community. The month of October will be spent focusing on breast cancer awareness.
Suzanne has a penchant for writing about dark characters with twisted behavioral patterns. If you're looking for the typical romance, this is probably not the author for you. Her characters are very alpha in nature and many times they operate under obsession for the object of their affection; rather than love. Though she does believe in happily ever afters, her characters many times have a bumpy ride getting there.
She also writes under the pseudonym Stormy Dawn Weathers for her writings that aren't so darkly laced with a true realism of shock and awe. Suzanne Steele does not believe in holding back when it comes to writing about how dark and depraved her characters are in the core of their primal natures.

I'm having a hard time deciding how to rate/review this one. On the one hand, I liked that the author didn't shy away from dark content. On the other, the author didn't necessarily weave said content into the story in a logical manner.

Antonio Ramirez is a crime boss of sorts. He owns strip club(s) and rules them with an iron fist. Although the full extent of his criminal dealings isn't really revealed, it is clear that he is a guy that is feared and respected. His brother is Ricardo Ramirez, an even scarier guy.

Roxanne is a cage fighter. Along with her best friend, she has profited from throwing matches. When they get caught trying to scam Ricardo, he takes the women as payment. Roxanne is shipped off to marry Antonio, a gift from his brother. Meanwhile, her best friend is forced to marry Ricardo.

Of course, Roxanne is a virgin and is extremely surprised to be attracted to Antonio. That explains the pleasure and orgasms that she has while enduring the gentlest rape in history. Did I mention that she's a closet masochist that ends up enjoying his sadistic tastes? (Yes, I'm rolling my eyes.)

One night is all it takes and he's in love. She holds out a little longer, but can't fight the attraction that she feels for Antonio while trying to maintain her righteous hate for her new husband. Eventually, she admits what was apparent from the start and quits trying to escape Antonio...or his spankings.

More often than not, this story left me feeling confused and wondering if I'd missed a few pages somewhere to explain exactly how the story arrived at a certain point. The characters' emotional responses seemed contrived, rushed and, at times, ridiculous given the situation. It was hard to connect with the story when you can't believe the responses of the characters to the given situations.

For example, with little more than a flip of the page, the hero goes from loathing the heroine that has been forced upon him by his brother to being completely obsessed and in love with her. Hmm... A few more conversations between the two might've helped to sell that a little better. It just didn't work for me.

The short length of this story is a large part of the problem. There was way to much going on to cover in a short novella. If this novella had been fleshed out and made into a full-length novel, it would have been much better and wouldn't have felt so forced.

Captivity, forced marriages, dubious consent and other dark themes are amongst my favorites...but they take time to craft into a story that is believable. It takes a lot of build-up to illustrate the gradual evolution of those relationships in order to sell it to the reader. That didn't happen with this story. Instead, it felt forced and a bit "smutty", lacking the emotional depth and connection that a story like this usually evokes.

Overall, I give this one 2 1/2 stars. It had potential, but was poorly executed. Instead of being a dark captivity story that tugs at your heart and makes you squirm in your seat, this story will make your eyes roll and might even make you laugh.

I'm slightly curious about the best friend and brother's story, but probably won't go there because I'm worried it'll end up being just like this one. Maybe I'll try another one of this author's works sometime in the future. For now, this author's style just doesn't seem to match up with my tastes.

TITLE: The Club
AUTHOR: Suzanne Steele
GENRE: Erotic Romance
RELEASE DATE: January 6th 2015
MY RATING: ★★★★

I Struggled with what to rate this, some parts I disliked as it made for a confusing read with how it would jump from numerous characters, which for me lost the easy flow to the story and didn't allow me to fully connect with the two main characters..
I'm in a mobster mode at the moment and seeing this and hardly any reviews I had to one click it anyways, it did keep me intrigued though right till the end, didn't love it but didn't hate it..I also felt like with him being this hardcore mobster man it was insta love on his behalf, I kind of expected more of a build up..
But in saying all of the above I'll still look forward to reading the next book in this series..

Antonio is known to be one of the most feared men and a highly ranked mobster within New York vowing to never give his heart to any woman..

A DARK OBSESSION

I love the fact that you are completely mine, untouched and untainted by any other man, I will watch over you like the treasure you are

I am his, he is mine, and we are one

He is brutal, vicious, cruel and a savage and will stop at nothing to gain control of his world..But in saying that you saw a vulnerable soft side to him..

I am your knight in dark, shining and wickedly laden armor, armor with shards that cut into your deepest and most hidden desires. I am the happily ever after in your twisted, tormented tale in your Cinder-fuckin-rella dreams

A FORCED MARRIAGE

You are my property, little one, I own you now. I will not tolerate disobedience and god help you if you ever try to escape me.

I enjoyed how Roxanne would push the boundaries and fight for her independence in anyway she could, the only thing I kind of thought would come out more with her character would be her background within the cage fighting ring..I thought we'd get to see more of tough discipline but it kind of seemed that she accepted her captivity, you didn't get to fully feel her angst at her situation she found herself in..

WOWZA.....this book was male dominance from the first word to the last word.

Roxanne is a tough girl that got busted by the wrong man. Her life was drastically changed upon meeting Antonio Wayne. The best part of Roxanne is her cockiness she gives to Antonio any time she can even though she knows she will handed a whole new world of hurt by the hands of the man she loves.

"I am his, he is mine, and we are one. "

Antonio....Antonio....Antonio.....I wish I liked you....I really do. I tried, really hard. You have some sexy qualities and I can see a tiny reason why Roxanne loves you. Overalll, YOU SUCK. You are awful to the woman you love. Dominating does not men cruel. You have an amazing woman and you threaten her over and over. I think it's time for you to be strung up and whipped!!

Maybe I am a big mush girl for strong man that submits to his feelings. Antonio knows he can't live without Roxanne. The moments he let's his guard down and his true heart shows is AMAZING!!!

I so don't know what to say about this book...
ok, so the author says this at the end :

"My stories do not end in the traditional manner that many do. The love that the characters share with one another is an obsession that never ends. Therefore, there can be no traditional end to the telling of their tales"

Fine, I can dig that!
I can even get over several things that didn't fit here...

this could've been a hell of a read, but it wasn't.
the thing that bothered me was the f*cking speed , the flow of the story, hell it felt like I'm staring in the next sequel of Fast and furious!

Shame really, I really liked this from the start, i was thrilled and then my emotions were attacked by two many characters, high jumps to another chapters of characters' lives inside the chapter...

shit i don't even make sense to myself!

I even liked the antihero/villain Antonio Wayne Ramirez, the gangster, the killer, the torturer...you name it...he was deadly hot

“You listen to me and you listen good, girl. I am a dark, twisted, and very fucked up man. Do you know what a sadist is? I don’t give her time to answer. “I enjoy inflicting pain on women. Now granted, I have access to women that enjoy that side of my dark psyche but you, little girl, are treading on very dangerous ground. You are awakening a monster. If you feed that monster, there will be no possibility of caging the beast.”

and it could've been so, so, good, especially if you consider that there were several f*cking hot dialogs...that melt...everything from your waist down LOL

unfortunately, I myself am saddened by my decision (3 out of 4)

RE-READ :
I still absolutely love Antonio Wayne and everything about him. He may be a cold, ruthless killer who loves to torture people but he’s also still that scared little boy who was sent away by his big brother for his own safety. He has abandonment issues which is why he’s so OTT with Roxanne.

This is the first book in the Colombian Cartel series by the amazingly talented Suzanne Steele. This is actually my second time reading this delightful book which I don't do too often. There are too many books in my library for me to be reading the same books more than once. But for one of my all time favorite authors I find myself constantly re-reading her books especially when I'm in a book funk as I am now. Roxanne and her BFF, Juanita are both MMA fighters. They are considered too violent for the U.S. so they have taken their show on the road, out of the country. No woman wants to get their face trashed so they came up with an idea that they'd only fight each other. That way they could choreograph the fight and also make lots of money by knowing the winner ahead of time. Their scheme was working great for a while until they tried ripping off Ricardo Ramirez. Ricardo is a very dangerous man and they had no idea who they were dealing with when they got to Guatemala. Some say his younger brother, Antonio Wayne Ramirez is even more lethal than Ricardo. The women cannot go unpunished for attempting to steal from the brothers so Ricardo comes up with the perfect solution. He keeps Juanita with him to be his wife and sends Roxanne to NYC to wed his brother. The last thing Antonio Wayne wants right now is a wife but he cannot refuse the gift from his older brother. Antonio owns The Club, the most exclusive gentlemen's club in perhaps the whole country. He only hires the most beautiful woman and he's sampled most of them himself and he likes it that way. What the hell is he going to do with a wife ? When she arrives in a cage and he sees what a fighter she is he starts to think breaking her will be fun. Most women throw themselves at Antonio, he doesn't need to persuade or force them but Roxanne is different. Antonio Wayne is a true predator and as soon as he had Roxanne in his sights there was no hope for her. I love the Ramirez brothers even more the second time and I think I'll re-read Rubia next.

Some spelling mistakes and I thought the plot was indeed in the realms of fantasy. A female fighter acting weak when held against her will just didn't work for me. I expected her to use her skills from the beginning and fight but she didn't. All her bravado towards the other women of what she could do to them was uneventful. Even though I had reservations with this book it still held my curiosity whilst I waited for the heroine to act. I liked the Alpha who lived up to expectations from the description at the start of this tale and I did feel his need to control but that still wasn't enough. I didn't love it but it was o.k. ......

Best book ever. Tony and Roxanne are both damaged and this story is told in both point of views, which I love. This is not a traditional romance it's a dark romance and this book does an excellent job of the think line between love and obsession. I think this is my favorite book so far by Suzanne Steele.

Crazy*obsessed* love

Two broken people come together in a not so traditional way. Forced to marry but quickly turns into a love consumed by obsession. It seems they are the missing peice, the other half of each other. They both feed off one another. Antonio is a sadist gets off one a woman's fear, struggle, pain, Roxanne unknowingly is a masochist. She enjoys the fear, pain and pleasure Antonio gives her. This was one of my favorite reads by this author. I highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys crazy obsessed alpha males.

Dark and possessive

This is very, very fast paced. However, you don't feel cheated with the story. Some descriptions were repeated, but all in all it was well written.
This is a dark "romance" and it works oh so well. It's a nice quick read to clean the mind if you've gotten a little tired of the sickly sweet romances out there. It's not so dark that it will leave you with a book hangover, but just enough. It's a book sorbet, if you will.

Antonio Wayne dominant and broken

NOT sure how Suzanne Steele can make me both repelled and intrigued by the same character. It is a testament to her writing. I love the obsessive nature of her alpha males and I so enjoy hearing the inner working of their minds. I can never get enough of her writing.

What a messed up relationship! Actually, Antonio and Roxanne were messed up individually.

I'm still trying to figure out how Roxanne was in love with Antonio. Yes, he was an over the top alpha male and extremely controlling and obsessive which was at times quite hot. But he tormented her so much over reasons I really didn't understand. It just seemed a bit too unhealthy to be sexy.

Another amazing book!!! Roxanne was sent to Antonio Wayne after she got caught deceiving his brother. Deep down she likes and craves his darker side and he knows it. He won't give her up and she comes to love him despite his dark and deadly ways

Read It Again...Better Story...Surprises

If you're thinking this book is just a few added words to an old story, you've got it wrong. The first version was good, but the revision makes it better. It even includes some familiar characters from other books.
It still a genre not for all, but I'm grateful it's not the darkest of this type story and the HEA is there. If you've read this author, you know her bdsm stories leave marks and the H is over the top crazy...That said, she's growing as an author. I can see the progression from the earlier books to now. Looking forward to reading more.

Couldn't finish. It kept jumping between characters that I had no idea what their place in the story was. The heroine just didn't connect for me. Her backstory was kind of bizarre and her approach to indentured servitude and arranged marriage. Disappointing because I'm always wanting another mafia series to binge on.

Crazy, sexy love

Roxanne is giving to Antonio as a gift. Actually a bride. Antonio is one bad, scary alpha male who never thought he'd settle down. One look at the beautiful red head and he is obsessed. She knows how to push his buttons and then the master comes out to play. Kinky, naughty, and sexy. Definitely my kind of book.

1/5 - skimmed it. It’s a lot of “he did that. Then he did that. Then he did this. I like power. You should be afraid of me because I don’t play nice. I am a dangerous man’” ehh just didn’t get invested in the slightest
