Endorsed by Detroit's Auxiliary Bishop Earl Boyea, authors Kimberly Hahn and Patti Armstrong, "Broken and Blessed" is the inspirational story of Celeste, a baby whose short life impacted hundreds of people and prompted Dr. Mark Latkovic, Professor of Moral Theology at Sacred Heart Seminary in Detroit to say, "Because your story [Catherine Adamkiewicz's; Celeste's mother] is at once personal, yet universal, I believe that your audience is a broad one - Catholic, Protestant, Jew, Muslim, even non-religious. It has much to teach about not just suffering and death, but the meaning of life."
I read this in 2008 and plan to read it again this Lent. My daughter, Madeleine, also just read it and "thought it was awesome!"
This is a beautiful story about a mother, her family and her precious baby Celeste, who all were part of God's special plan. It's heart wrenching, yet gives so much hope. A story about the joy of suffering that needs to be told in today's society. I felt like Catherine Adamkiewicz was my best friend bearing her soul to me. This story will stay with me a long while!
