She's baaack! This second installment of the Tangled Ivy Trilogy by Tiffany Snow reminded me of why so many of us readers fell in love with her. As with a few others, In His Shadow somewhat missed the mark for me. Ivy was hard to feel a connection with, and Devon was nearly equally as elusive a character.

But in Shadow of a Doubt, Snow shows her ability to expand on her character's fundamental qualities. She takes a beautiful and fragile woman and gives her some backbone, relaying more of her past so that readers will understand her better. There's more to Ivy than her need for her mystery man Devon. There's more to her than the tragedy of her past. She now feels much more grounded to me than she did before. That's not to say that she doesn't have more room for growth. But it's that character development that Snow excels at...that peeling away of the layers that pulls me in.

Devon...yeah, he's still elusive as hell, but at least we get a lot more of him, and we eventually get more of his past. Tortured hero? Of course he is, and I find myself aching to get even more Devon-unwrapping. What we got here was enough for the moment. I felt the intensity of his emotions toward Ivy...they're so caught up in each other when they're together, but with everything that's going on around them, there is precious little time to spend delving into matters of the heart.

This book was full of action and excitement, revelations and hints of things to come. It opens with a nighttime visit from Devon and a morning without him. Ivy rightfully begins to question the direction that their relationship has taken. Occasional booty calls aren't exactly what every girl dreams about...especially when there are so many other wanting and willing fish in the sea. Ivy's detective Scott Lane is more than willing to protect her and befriend her and to be even more than friends if she'll let him. Her best friend Logan is loyal as ever as well, and men can't seem to resist a damsel in distress. What with Devon running so hot and cold, Ivy has a lot of soul searching to do. And now that the bad guys all want to get hold of her, she's also got a lot more to worry about.

We get to spend some time with Ivy's grandparents, and we get to see Devon and Ivy go through some intense emotions, reliving bits of their past and timidly enjoying stolen moments of the present.

"Beautiful Ivy. You're turning me inside out."

SWOON!!!

The last half of Shadow of Doubt is fierce and fiery and absolutely stuffed with action and intrigue. I love when a book starts of sort of low key and then builds and builds and before you realize it, you're in the middle of some kind of Bond film and you have no idea what's coming next. These villains are pure sociopathic evil, and even friends loyalties are questioned. Yet the focus remains on Ivy and Devon and the obvious devotion they feel toward each other. There will be no easy end for these two! One more book to go...how in the world will Snow wrap this one up? I can't wait to find out.

Tiffany Snow gives us everything we want and need and then some! My love for anything this author writes is not new news. However what is unusual is that I loved this one even more than the first. As someone that is usually partial to the first book in any series this is a revelation of sorts. I think I have narrowed it down to loving the chase and all the anticipation that occurs before a couple gets together. But somehow Tiffany Snow has been able to carry that over to the second book because you never know how their relationship will or will not end up and this kept me wanting. It kept me so in tuned with Ivy the heroine; I just wanted so desperately what she did. I fell even more in love with Devon the male lead in this series. In this book we witness him drop his guard a bit and allow himself to feel. Sexy, alpha male British spy with an accent and every SINGLE time he called her darling I just about melted in a puddle. At the edge of my seat the entire way through this book with all the action and suspense that this author excels in giving her readers then add the uncertainty of the relationship was just about too much for me to handle. I could NOT put this book down. We will not even discuss that at certain parts I had a lump in my throat and tears in my eyes. Yes, we will NOT mention that because I DO NOT CRY. The end had me CRAZY, it was almost as if you are watching a movie and you are yelling at the T.V. screen only in this case you are yelling at your reading device. Absolute craziness that has me anxious for the third and final book in this trilogy. But when an author has me feeling all THAT… has me turned inside out upside down and every which way, yes that’s a 5 star read for me. This is a MUST read ladies! If you haven’t read the first book you still have time as this one has an expected release date of May 12t

Book two in The Tangled Ivy Trilogy comes months after book one ends. It starts off with a bang as the sexy British agent Devon Clay slithers his way into Ivy’s bed. Disappointed, Ivy finds herself alone, again, the next day wondering if what she feels for Devon will be enough to sustain whatever their relationship is.

Devon is pretty much nonexistent in Ivy’s life. Because of this, she is forced to run to her friend/cop Scott Lane for help when the past catches up with Devon, and decides it’s Ivy who will take the punishment.

Sadly, this is where things started to fall apart for me. It became a bit predictable. If one more person decides they are in love/lust with Ivy….. Please, please don’t get me wrong. I am a mega fan of all things Tiffany Snow. Her Kathleen Turner Series is one of my all time favorites and the first of The Tangled Ivy books, In His Shadow ,was a solid five star read for me. This one just didn’t have the same drive or excitement. Aside from the geographic Schizophrenia, which I loved by the way, it just lacked something I just can’t put my finger on.

Will I continue on with the series? Absolutely! The sexy Devon is a walking emotional contradiction and I can’t wait to see how this plays out.

3.5 I wish it could be more stars.

I am in lust with the Tangled Ivy trilogy! It just seems to hit all the right spots for me. The pacing of the story is just right, and there’s a perfect balance of romance and suspense. These books are just so addicting that I never want them to end. Devon is just so sexy and swoony with the mystique and power that surrounds him. I will say that we do get to see some vulnerability with Devon in Shadow of a Doubt, and that vulnerable piece of him is Ivy.

‘We were a pair, he and I. Both damaged goods, but from the outside looking in we were perfect – our pretty facades hiding the broken and jagged parts of our soul.’

I don’t know about the rest of you ladies, but a man like Devon Clay just does it for me. He has a harden, untouchable exterior, but deep down he’s craves closeness and connection just like the rest of us. He has this smooth British accent that I could actually hear in my head as I was reading. He also treats Ivy like a queen and pampers her in a way that made me feel envious.

Even though there is a ton of romance and sexy times, the plot really drives this story. The action and suspense was gripping, and it had me hanging on the edge of my seat. Ivy tries to outrun the bad guys, Devon is killing the bad guys, there’s shootouts, and even an incident in an Amsterdam brothel. Between all the action and the swoon-worthy scenes I couldn’t put this book down.

Since this is the second book in a three part series I was worried the ending would really leave me cliff hanging. I have to say though, I am satisfied with how the author ended this book. I am still very much looking forward to the final book. I CANNOT WAIT!

“You’re beautiful, inside and out. The past is gone forever. Tomorrow is never assured. There’s only today. Live in today. Promise me.”

Okay, so anyone who read my review of the first book in this trilogy may be stunned to see the 4 stars. BUT... just as I had hoped, once Ivy and Devon became a couple, the things I hated about the story smoothed out and it turned into a can't-put-down, stay-up-all-night read! Yes, the situations can be pretty far-fetched at times but no more so than any James Bond or Jason Bourne you've ever read. It's pure escapist suspense and excitement!

This book is extraordinary! Right from page one it sucks you in.
In His Shadow is amazing, but Shadow of a Doubt is phenomenal, It’s even more exciting, sexier and the suspense is to the max. I think I held my breath the whole time, my heart was racing and I cried big fat tears. I think I felt every emotion possible while reading.
I love Ivy with everything she’s been though she’s one tough cookie and she proves it. Logan, he pissed me off a bit but I liked him better this time around. Agent Lane well let’s just say I like him a lot less this time around and even go as far to say his on my shit list. And then there’s Devon my handsome, hot, sexy, strong, mysterious, delicious, smart, dangerous British hunk of a man, (yes I’m claiming him as my own) I love him even more now. I just wish he’d open his eyes when it comes to the Shadow… no spoilers you’ll just have to read it.
Everything I felt and loved in book one double it, I was on the edge of my seat in In His Shadow, this time I was falling off my seat, I could NOT put this book down. When I slept I was dreaming it at work I was thinking about it. I wanted to read fast and at the same time take my time so it wouldn’t end.
Tiffany Snow is the Queen of Suspense and Action with the perfect mix of vulnerability meets alpha dominance with just the right amount of sex. It’s the perfect literary sundae. She keeps you guessing and has you holding on to every word. You can actually visualize the story in your head. Snow is an This book is worth far more than 5 stars. Book 3 can’t come fast enough.

I've read everything that Tiffany Snow has published, so picking up a copy of her newest book shouldn't have triggered a feeling of apprehension, but it did. In His Shadow, the first book in The Tangled Ivy Trilogy missed the mark for me, but did leave me with a glimmer of hope that the remaining books in the series would be better. After reading the second part of this trilogy and with a huge sigh of relief, I can say that I really enjoyed Shadow Of a Doubt.

There is no easing into this second installment of The Tangled Ivy Trilogy as the pace of plot it pretty fast moving the whole of the duration of the book. Once you begin, you're sucked in with barely a chance to draw a breath until you've reached the ending. And what an ending it is! The suspense is what keeps my interest and me turning the pages. Unfortunately, the protagonist's relationship barely registers with me.

It is strange that I find the supporting characters infinitely more interesting than the main ones. I'm grateful for Logan and Agent Scott Lane's presence. I have warmed more to Devon this time around though. His nationality is still confusing to me, so I read him as an American citizen. As Devon opens up more to Ivy, there is a glimpse of a charming man, who shows that he has a caring and compassionate side, although I'm not convinced Ivy is worthy of such thoughtfulness. As a heroine, I'm struggling to empathise with her as she displays characteristics I don't find pleasing in people generally.

All in all, I'm really looking forward to how this is all going to end and can't wait to find out the conclusion. I'm guessing Tiffany is saving the best until last and hopefully the protagonists will finally strike a positive chord with me too.

Well, this is certainly jammed packed with action. I still really like Devon, but Ivy was even harder to enjoy in this second book. It's just one of those things where she got into so many situations that if she was going to continue, then at least carry a dang weapon. She also let Devon get away with too much and I wish she had stood her ground more with him. And why in the world did she not talk to Devon about Vega. All these issues left me frustrated and yet I still enjoyed it. I'm looking forward to Vega's demise and hopefully Ivy will learn how to fight back because I don't see her staying out of trouble.

A super great book. This was a First Reads book I was completely surprised to get in the mail and totally made my day. Free Books!...Yay! Once I picked it up I didn't want to put it down. It was definitely taunting me all day. I finally got back to it and read into the wee hours as it didn't let me go. This was fast-paced, great characters that I liked more and more and the story went on, plenty of twists and turns, emotions, tough spots, courage, and some surprises. This was a finger-gripper and breath-holding kinda book I was swept away and completely emerged. I got a vocal and was talking to - well myself I guess...some breath holding and twitches...That B*...it's him, I knew it...What!!!...I kinda had a book strangling moment. I had to give it some good shakes and an aggravation dance to vent a little. ;) Totally great read and I can't wait to read the next book! I'm really thinking this series is gonna be shelf-worthy. My heart was still pounding after reading this too. Totally Enjoy!

Tiffany Snow has hooked me again! She is one of those rare authors that can write a series where each book is even better than the last. I loved the first book, but Shadow of a Doubt stepped up another level! In my opinion, Tiffany Snow is the queen of romantic suspense, and I will read ANYTHING she publishes. Read this book! It's another winner. Full review to come closer to release date!

Wow, ok, this book was spectacular! I could not put this one down. I loved seeing Devon again and his over-protective, possessive actions with Ivy.

The ending! OMG, the ending! I can't believe we have to wait until December to read the next book!

My one gripe with this book was

There were so many great scenes in this book that I marked in my Kindle. However, I'm writing this quickly at work. If I find the time I'll add some of my favorite scenes to this review.

ETA some of my favorite scenes:

* Logan glanced at Devon. "I think Grams just cockblocked you...mate," he smirked."

"And I'm pretty sure she called me a cow," I mused.

* But in this moment, he held me and kissed me, his body moving slowly above mine, and it felt more like becoming one than it ever had.

I was already in love with him, but tonight he stole my heart.

* Devon doesn't give much away so I really liked this: "Beautiful Ivy," he whispered by my ear. "You're turning me inside out."

* Grams is a smart woman! "...That man loves you, and don't you doubt it. He may not have said it, but he watches you like the rooster watches for the sunrise, as if his next breath depends on you being there."

* I love this because, even though he can't say it, this shows he loves Ivy. ...Instead, he spoke, his voice a low rasp of sound.

"Don't go. Please."

"I know you're worried-"

"That's not why," he interrupted me. "Yes, I want to keep you safe. But it's you. I don't want to lose you, Ivy. Not like this."

"Because I'm leaving you for a change?" I asked. No sense sugarcoating it.

"Because I care about you, more than I've cared about anyone in a very long time. And I should have told you that. Weeks ago. But I didn't. And I hurt you."

My throat was thick with emotion at the stark vulnerability in his voice. "Yes, you did," I said simply.

His hand brushed my hair back fom my cheek. "I am sorry, sweet Ivy. I want you in my life," he said. "Will you stay? Do you want me, too?"

* Sweet: He petted my hair and pressed light kisses to my cheeks, my eyes, my jaw.

* "Tell me you're mine."

"I'm yours," I breathed as his lips descended onto mine.

* I dropped to my knees on the floor, a sob building in my chest that I couldn't hold back, despite my desperation to try to keep it together....

I didn't recognize the sounds I was making. Harsh, ugly, pain-wracked sobs that tore from the depths of my being. Tears streaked my face as I bent over until my forehead rested on the carpet. I squeezed my arms tight around my middle, hugging myself as if that alone would stop me from breaking apart.

* "I love you," he said. "Never forget."

* Devon to Ivy. Sigh. So romantic. "...Sunlight shining through something incredibly strong. That's what you are to me."

Loved this book!

Shadow of a Doubt was both entertaining and annoying at the same time. This is the second book in the series and if you don’t read the first book, I doubt you will fully understand the dynamics/relationships between the characters. Rest assured, the relationships are the main attraction to the book. Everyone has a dysfunctional relationship with each other. Not to mention the fact that there’s a spy, an FBI agent, a bank teller, and a best friend that no longer wants to be trapped in the friend zone. If it wasn’t for the Jame Bond like way the hero is portrayed, I would have no interest to continue reading this series.

Ivy is an American bank teller who settled on having a mainly sexual and part-time relationship with a British spy named Devon. Devon comes to America a few times a year and drops in on Ivy for a tryst. Sometimes, they don’t even speak. He just shows up in the middle of the night, climbs into bed, has his way with Ivy, and leaves. Heck, one time he even left $10,000 in cash. And that clearly doesn’t send the wrong message. Ivy has gotten it into her head that their relationship is the best that she could ever get. Devon awakens something in her that no one ever has, but that could be because of the sexual abuse she suffered at the hands of her stepbrother. An old enemy of Devon’s resurfaces and takes aim at Ivy and her family in order to draw Devon out. Everything else that happens call into question Ivy’s choices since her relationship with Devon always ends up putting her life in danger.

Ivy insists that she doesn’t need to be rescued but she continues to put herself in positions that someone else has to get her out of. She is the ideal damsel in distress. It was very difficult to watch her get upset that everyone else thought she needed to be saved although it was true. She is addicted to Devon and no matter what happens, she can’t break away from him. He even thinks she is better off without him. There is a whole lot more to the story but I had difficulty seeing past the obvious fact that she had a deathwish. I don’t know that I can suffer through the next book. It’s hard to think that anyone is that stupid for love.

I would give the 2nd half of the book 4 stars and the first half of the book 2 stars. The second half was much better and much more entertaining than the first half. This book was MUCH better than book 1, which I pretty much hated.

Ivy... she's still one of my favorite heroines, but she got SLIGHTLY less twitty in the second half of the book as opposed to the first half.

I don't dislike Devon as much as I did in the first book. So that's saying something, I guess.

I still hate how every guy that comes into contact with Ivy is obsessed with her and has to have her. I also hate how shallow Ivy is. I could care less about her obsess with name brand clothing and how fashionable and beautiful she thinks she is. We get it. You're pretty. Shut up.

So, I just finished Shadow of a Doubt and I find myself a complete and utter emotional wreck . Never before has a book consumed me as much as this story did. I loved In His Shadow, the first book in this trilogy, but this book? This book exceeded every expectation that I had. There is so much to love within these pages – from suspense, hot and steamy romance and characters you just want to shoot. Let’s talk about the characters for a moment though.

Ivy – you know, at first I just wanted to hate this girl. I was tired of hearing how beautiful she was and how all the men found her attractive. I got tired of hearing about her taste in clothing, shoes and other fine things. I was just tired of Ivy (or just perhaps a bit jealous). But once the story really started, I got over those few nuisances, because I just realized that is who she is whether I like it or not. She is able to handle a lot of crap, and still come out stronger in the end. She’s kind, caring and has a huge heart and her love for Devon is almost an obsession – but really, who can blame her.

Devon – Oh Good Lord! What a man - A hot, sexy man who any woman would love to have warm their bed, and their heart. But when Devon is around, you know there is going to be intriguing and deadly thrills that will have your heart racing. This man really knows how to treat a woman and he treats Ivy well – really well! Beneath the tough exterior is this soft teddy bear of a man and I like him – A LOT!

Vega – God, I hate this woman. She is a conniving, back-stabbing, evil and wretched bitch that I truly believe was born without a heart and if she does have one, it is stone cold frozen. There is a special place in Hell for this woman and someone needs to send her there on a one-way ticket FAST.

The other supporting characters really bring this story together and make it thrilling and suspenseful read.

While immersing myself in this flawlessly written story, I never knew what to expect with each turn of the page. It definitely kept me on the edge my seat feverishly devouring each sentence - craving it like a drug. The writing is absolutely beautiful and flowed so effortlessly. I quite simply did not want it to end. This is a love story that is unlike any other and I think Ms. Snow outdid herself in this installment.

I picked out two of my favorite quotes, just to give you a taste of what’s in this spectacular and amazing story:
“….just because we can’t have more doesn’t mean what we do have isn’t worth something.”

“We were a pair, he and I. Both damaged goods, but from the outside looking in we were perfect – our pretty facades hiding the broken and jagged parts of our souls. Perhaps that’s why we fit so well together. The shattered pieces of our psyches were just enough to complete the other.”

I have been a fan of Tiffany Snow since her very first book, and her writing just keeps getting better and better. Shadow of a Doubt has it all - romance, suspense, drama and so much more. I dare say that this might just be my favorite book written by her so far – and that really says a lot, because her Kathleen Turner Series was beyond amazing. As I stated before, this book left me an emotional wreck afterward and left me craving more. The final installment of this trilogy can’t get here quick enough – I NEED MORE!

Fans of Romantic Suspense will love this one, so be sure to check it out – but be sure to read Book One, In His Shadow first if you haven’t already!

I had high hopes for this book. In some aspects it was better than the first in the series, in others, worse. The better parts is that the characters were better developed and now I can differentiate from Kathleen and Cade/Blane. The writing is excellent as always and the action and suspense don't let go. The worse part is that it was so complicated, so many things happen, they get out of so many fixes that it started to resemble one of the James Bond movies, where the hero got out of incredibly dangerous situations. Devon and Ivy got i to trouble numerous times, and got out of it almost by miracle. Even the fact that Devon's boss is a woman is reminiscent of James Bond's boss "M". Ivy is similar to Kathleen in her first book, in that she is courageous going in, but once she gets into trouble she cries, screams, is scared, and needs rescuing all the time. I could understand how she could be a liability to Devon.

In this sequel, I liked how they handled Ivy's brokenness. It was there, it was dealt with, no more crying over what is past. Devon was constantly praising Ivy for being stronger than what everyone else thought, and she was, once she got out of trouble. But she did face her enemies and tried to negotiate out of the situation.

Overall, the writing and character development was better in this sequel, IMO, and I liked that the author worked Ivy's love of fashion to make her a fun girl at times. This were the only instances of humor in the book. I also noticed that the author stopped using "luv", the endearment Devon used for Ivy that was critizised.

I enjoyed this book, and finished exhausted from all the goings to and fro, all the surprise visits, all the kidnappings, injections, slapping, etc. I hope next book is a little more peaceful.

Sooo that happened. I guess the most noticeable pro here is that this book was wayyyyy better than the first one. Ivy had some agency. At times. Made some good decisions. Occasionally. And stood up for herself more often than not. Kind of. Still, this book didn't necessarily work for me. I didn't feel like we got much of a sense of Devon, and the author's attempts at giving him a distinct personality left me unconvinced.

Things that annoyed me were, as in the Kathleen Turner series, the habit of pretty much every guy to fall at least partly in love with Ivy. Ivy's obsession with clothing and shoes; it made me think less of her that she could focus on such shallow matters in the midst of several life-threatening situations. Logan annoyed me. Scott really annoyed me. Vega worked my last nerve. The only people who didn't make me want to reach for a drink were the clueless (and possibly deaf) grandparents, Reggie, Ezbell, and Beau.

If this book hadn't been free, I wouldn't have read it, so I'm thankful to Kindle Unlimited for making such crackstastic books available as part of the subscription service.

If you’re a lover of the Romantic Suspense genre than look no further, this is a must-read author/series. Tiffany Snow always delivers a high-octane plot with a romance that will leave you breathless. She is one of my go-to’s when I’m in the mood for action, suspense and a memorable love story.

In Shadow of a Doubt, we pick up right were we left off. Devon left Ivy with very few promises but Ivy thought that’s all she would need as long as she would see him again. Once trouble shows up at her door and she has no way to contact Devon, Ivy starts to rethink her decision. As truth’s come to light and lives are put on the line, Ivy and Devon are faced with consequences that neither want but must except.

This was another page turner that surpassed it’s predecessor in my opinion. It’s edgy, sexier and the plot becomes more tangled.I can’t wait for the next book in this trilogy to get the closure that I am hoping this couple will receive!

I received this book in a Goodreads giveaway. I have never read anything by Tiffany Snow and I am now in the process of getting her other books, especially the first one in the Tangled Ivy series, In His Shadow.

Thoroughly enjoyed this book. Great characters, great story and the chemistry between Ivy and Devon is just explosive. Once you start this book, you just cannot put it down. The suspense, the emotions, the anxiety and the steamy romance just keeps you on the edge of your seat. At the end, what is hard to handle....waiting for the third book of this series.

Now, I have to go read the first one and probably re-read the second one. You will love this book, this series and definitely, this author. While waiting on the third book in this series, I will be finding all her other books and reading those. Again, awesome book!

SMH- o jeez- where to start....

So I love this author. Her Kathleen Turner series is one of my favorites- its her soap opera style stories that keep me entertained. So that being said, this one just went WAAAAAAAY over the top. Here is a short list of all that happened/and things involved in this book:

3 kidnappings
Russian mobsters
CIA
FBI
International spy ring out of England
3 knife fights/stabbings
2 torture sessions
1 supervirus
human trafficking
child abuse
blown up car
blown up house
AND- a love triangle wasn't enough- we needed to make this a love square! Or something like that.

Our supermodel-beautiful heroine is being purseued by THREE lovers.

Lol!

I still had a fun time reading it- next one wont be out until december.... so I'll have to try to remember all the dramatics that happened from this round before going into the next one.

4.5 - better than the first!

So So SO sO hard for me not to compare this series to the one I loved before! But here's the thing with the Tangled Ivy series. Once I accepted that these characters are what they are, I REALLY enjoyed this second book. It contains all the fast paced non stop action and frying pan to fire sequences that I love in Snow's fabulously creative writing. And Ivy appears to have just as many lives as my other much beloved heroine. She grew on me a bit in this one, mostly because she grew up some. Gone was the broken girl, and here we find a stronger, albeit more reckless, woman who still needed saving in the physical sense but no longer in the emotional one.

This installment ends in more of a cliff, so on to book three I go!

Couldn't finish as I can't even find one thing positive to say about any of the characters. Things that did not bother me at all in the first book have become huge stumbling blocks to me in this one.
I have decided to bag the book as I borrowed it for free from Amazon and I can get a new one tomorrow if I return this one.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE Tiffany Snow and all her books. I really enjoyed Ivy's story even though it was nerve wracking at times. I fell in love more with Devon. I can't wait for the conclusion of the trilogy.

this book was awful. :( I'm so disappointed. anything that could go wrong did. it was over the top silly. and Devon is just an idiot. he doesn't see what's in front of him. I found it Annoying. Tiffany snow is a terrific writer so I won't let this deter me from her future works.

Arc provided by Montlake Romance in exchange for an honest review.

I loved this book so much more than In His Shadow. Full review to come.
