You may not have heard of me, but no worries. Detroit knows me. I’m the old money that new money tries to be. Elite company that you wish you could be in. The life I have, the same you seek, is costing me and I knew of only one way out. My escape was the reason for my downfall.

Death.

When I’m finally close to it, I meet the man who attempts the impossible.

He tries to convince me to live.

She is a job, the final payment for a debt owed. I’m not supposed to want her, but I have to have her. When she offers me money to kill her, I make her a deal instead. Now I’ve got seven days to change her mind or risk losing her forever.

Convincing Bet to live will be the toughest job I’ve ever had. The payoff will be worth it… as long as we both live to see it.

You know you are reading an amazing book, when you snort laughing out loud, or when you dry your tears. You know you are reading something that is going to stick to your bones when you feel this much. I kept highlighting things I didn't want to forget, well you can't highlight the whole book, I guess you could, but seriously, had to put the highlighter down.
This a was a ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ read and so much more. Just thinking about it I want to getaway and drive to Mackinac, get a bottle of wine and rent a bike.

KS your best work to date, you just keep writing em, I promise to keep reading it!

Time may not heal all wounds...but SEX sure can!!!

Note: Either I'm a horrible beta reader or the author is just that good (I'm leaning towards the 2nd) cuz there's nothing I would change and I have nothing negative to say about this book. The author sure has come along way and each book keeps getting better and better! I'm so damn proud of you girl. Putting yourself out there, like you do, isn't easy. It takes bravery, hardwork, dedication, and mad skillz! Keep up the literary kick-assery!

Bet isn't as strong as she'd like to be. She was once a wife and mother, now she's living with guilt and trying to cope with the tragic loss that changed her life six years ago. She's become a shell of a woman and figures there's nothing left in this life worth living for...until she meets Rio.

Rio's trying to cope with his own heartache. Loosing Rion's heart to another man turned his world upside down, she was all he knew. Rion made sure he stayed on the right path but without her, he lost his way. Now he's taken a job that requires him to steal again, but this time he's not prepared for the what he needs to collect.

An island, a storm, and two people who should have never met. Will Bet's final wish be carried out? Will Rio's job stand in her way? Or will they find a HEA in this world of blackmail, deceit, and tragedy?

Certainly another winner from Kelly!!! I really think this is her best to date! Kelly creates the best heroines, and Bet is no exception. She's feisty, sassy, strong, and broken. She's used to just surviving until Rio comes along. Bet's done "surviving", and Rio is determined to convince her to live. But the circumstances under which they meet threaten Rio's plan to convince Bet that what she wants isn't really what she needs.

This book was emotional, funny, and intense all wrapped into to one. You'll go from laughing your ass off one minute to crying the next. You might not necessarily associate bucket of tears with KS Adkins, but make sure you have a box of tissues handy for this one.

If you have't read Kelly before, you should really do yourself a favor and pick one up one of her books.

OMG!! I fucking LOVED it! WOW! Bet was dealt a crap hand and what happened to her broke my heart. I loved that she was strong but wasn't too proud to be sad..emotional and just completely lose her shit..basically being human. When she needed to get her head in the game, she was all over it like a boss and I loved that about her. As for Rio...DAYUM! I loved his alpha ass and it was so great to learn his story and see him for him. Ooohweee that man is HAAWWTT and the things that came outta his mouth...mm-hmmmm...funny as shit but at times, it came straight from the heart! I don't want to give away too much, but their story made me lmao, sad, mad, hopeful and most definitely happy!

I love all of your books! All the women are strong and kickass but never too proud to have a strong alpha man by her side. *sighing dreamily* Thank you for another fucking AWESOME book Kel! You Rock!!

Bet lost her entire family and has spent years trying to deal with the loss. She goes on a last trip and asks a hit man to kill her.

Her dead husband's fraternal twin brother is a bad guy who wants her and her money. He sends a guy after her to bring her to him. She ends up falling in love with the man, Rio.

It's a good book, but not one I'd reread.

Safety: She pays men to sleep with her because she's not interested in commitment or love. She's drowning herself in liquor and dulling the pain any way she can.

Rio has had plenty of women, but none he had feelings for.

I liked that Bet was a smart business woman who took what she needed from men and made no excuses. She was ballsy. But... some of the story was implausible. For instance... She wouldn't have left her dead husbands name as beneficiary on any of her accounts when she hated him and believed he could have been responsible for the death of her family. That would have been an easy change and something a smart women... who was so brilliant she made tons of money... would do.

Bet believed in me, saw good in me, she had fucking trusted me. ~ Rio

I was lucky enough to beta read this novel shortly before Christmas. Since I’m a huge fan of KS, I was honored, not only because I love her writing, but also because this turned into one of the most enthralling novels I have read in a while that left me in what at first seemed to be a permanent state of a ‘book-hangover’. I’m still not over this amazing novel. Even bringing in the big guns; my favorite books I can read over and over again and usually turn too in a situation like this, didn’t help me.

He was bringing out in me the very thing I thought I’d lost forever…
Freedom to be myself. ~ Bet

Even while writing this review, I was struggling to put my emotions for this book into words, which was why it took me this long to write a review. I felt unable to accurately describe the vast array of emotions this book evoked in me. There are no words, I am still speechless, which, let me tell you, I’m not very often. However, since I promised, I will give it a try.

Sometimes you get a second chance when you least expect it. When you don’t think you deserve it and you damn sure don’t think you want it. It was that way for me and it’s what you’re feeling right now. Don’t be scared of it, trust it like I do. I didn’t expect you Bet, I doubt I deserve you either but I do know I want you more than I’ve ever wanted anything. You’re my second chance and I’m yours too.” ~ Rio

Bet is a very complex character and with every page I read, I learned new nuances to her personality. In one night, she lost everything she loved and held dear; something that shattered her soul and seemed to be unable to overcome. While on vacation to Mackinac Island, where she was to decide her future, she meets Rio. Even though they both were battling their own demons, they also couldn’t help exploring their immense attraction.

Like every night since I lost it all, I prayed I wouldn’t wake up. But like all things in life, you seldom get what you want. Life wouldn’t release me and I hated that I wasn’t strong enough to do it myself. ~ Bet

Since having met Rio in 8 Mile & Rion, I knew he was struggling with his own demons and trying to come to terms with the fact that the woman he thinks he’s in love with, is with someone else. We also learned early on in the story that Rio and Bet’s meeting didn’t happen by chance, but was a plan orchestrated by an old enemy of Bet’s. While on the island, both of them struggled with their growing feelings for one another, among other things. Rio was struggling to save Bet from herself; convince her to live, convince her to take a chance on him, while also struggling with the knowledge that he was keeping a secret, a secret that will most likely shatter the trust Bet has in Rio, while Bet was struggling with her decision to end her own life. However, when it all came crashing down around them, it was beautiful to see how strong Bet has become since meeting Rio and how confident, even while my heart was breaking for the both of them.

Yes, my heart was broken but I’d get over it. I always did. I learned another lesson tonight; it was that I was made to be broken. ~ Bet

It has been a long time since I read a novel that evoked this many emotions in me. It made me literally laugh out loud, in public (talk about getting weird looks); it made me cry uncontrollably, I was shocked and saddened by what was continuously happening. This story was amazing, even though it kept gutting me. This was one of the best stories I have read in a long time, and definitely made my Top Reads of this year! I cannot emphasize enough how much I loved this book!

No one else would die because of my bad choices. Especially the man I loved. At that moment the betrayal was forgotten. Saving him was a no brainer, it really was. ~ Bet

I was so intrigued by the blurb of this book, I couldn't wait to read it and I wasn't disappointed.

Bet must be one of the most broken characters that I have ever read about and my heart absolutely broke for her. She's struggling with tragic events that happened 6 years earlier and is still nowhere near being able to cope. It's true what they say, money doesn't buy you happiness. She has more money than she will be able to spend in her life, which she plans on being over soon.

Rio is sent on a job, and that job is Bet. He watches her from afar at first to try to find out more about her and this is where some of the funniest, laugh out loud moments happen.

This book was written in both Bet and Rio's POV which I loved and it was such an emotional roller coaster, it will make you cry, laugh out loud and smile so much that your face hurts! It kept me guessing and got my adrenaline pumping towards the end!

She did it again, KS Adkins made me feel all the feels. Laugh, cringe, cry, and get angry all in her pages while rooting for both Bet and Rio. I hate when the books end and love the tie with all of the different story lines.

Bet Lennox is a very rich woman and she runs a big company. Bet is very empty emotionally she has lost her whole family in a car accident six years ago and ever sin she has been dead inside except for work. She lost her mother, father, husband, and her two year old daughter, Indie she could endure no more sadness. She was in business with some shady people one of which was Adrian, who was her husband Alan's twin brother. He was very opposite his brother. He was mean and did what every he had to in his drug business. He wanted Bet but she hated him. Bet ran from him and went to Mackinac Island to think. while there she hired a hit man to take her out in a week, she wanted to die. While sobbing on her deck one night the man on the other side of the fence ask her if she wanted to talk. She found his voice intoxicating and they talked. The next night they shared wine by passing it between the fence. He knew who she was, his name was Rio and he was hired by Adrian to do a job, but he didn't know what. Rio was quite taken with Bet so he arranged to meet her and as they got to know each other they spent more time together. Bet didn't know about Rio or why he was there. He kept trying to convince her that life was worth living. This is quite a story and I know you will have a hard time putting it down. It does, however contain a lot of profanity and sex scenes so this book isn't for everyone. If this doesn't offend you read this one

This book was a surprise. I was a little lost in the beginning, trying to figure out what was going on. I can't be sure, but it felt like the book was written in prose. Slowly my confusion cleared and then I was captured by the story.

Rio and Bet had great chemistry. They had it in spades. The broken parts of each of them drew them together. I just wasn't very comfortable with some of their physical interactions. They were hot, there's no doubt about that, but not enough to overcome my discomfort. I liked Bet. I didn't understand her desire to kill herself, but then again, I've never lost everyone I've ever loved before either. I liked Rio too, even with his rough edges.

I think the part I liked best was the story. It was so interesting. K.S. Adkins did a great job of keeping me on my toes. I wasn't sure why Rio had been sent to retrieve Bet or by whom. Like Rio I wanted to know what the connection was between Bet and the person wanting her back in Detroit. I wasn't sure if Rio was going to be able to convince Bet to change her mind about dying. I realized as I was reading, this was the second book of sorts in a series. Thankfully, that didn't cause confusion.

The book is raw, gritty, sad in places, and suspenseful in others. I read it quickly and was left thinking about once I'd finished it. This was my first K.S. Adkins book, and I look forward to reading more from her in the future.

Bet: Broken, lonely, searching for answers-finds Rio
Rio: Man with a mission, suffering unrequited love, never bargained on Bet

Convincing Bet had a slow start for me as the book was setting itself up, but even then it was hard to set down. Once Bet and Rio are on the island together the interactions range from funny to flirty. Bet's adventures were pretty hilarious while she works to lose herself or find herself, I couldn't decide.
And WOW when the book starts getting hot it switches to full on nuclear when they get serious! This book will strip you bare and rip you up. It has the power to crush you, lift you up, make you laugh and make you smile. There were moments when because of the writing I was able to feel Bet's pain so strongly I couldn't breath and the heat of Rio's anger I thought I should have burns on my fingers from holding my Kindle. It is emotionally dark, but it also literally had me laughing out loud several times! It was the perfect rounded out read and I wish I could give it more than 5 because it was just that awesome!

I was given Convincing Bet for an honest review. This is my first time reading from Author K.S. Adkins. I have to say this book was a little hard to get into at first. Once I got past 4% it started to get interesting.

Bet Lennox is a strong , rich, loving woman that had everything going for her. She had a husband, a beautiful daughter & parents that loved her. Then one day in a blink of an eye it was taken from her. Since then she has made some not so good choices in life. She just wants to forget. She feels guilty for living when her loved ones are gone. Then she meets Rio on Mackinac Island.

Rio is a man on a mission. In order to get Adrian off his back he’s taken a job. His job is to bring Bet back to Adrian. The plan was never to get involved with her. But when they get stranded on this island for days he learns so much about Bet. Now that he knows her story his mission is to change her mind before time runs out.

This story is full of emotion & there were times I found myself laughing. I give it 4 ½ stars. I just find there was a lot of sex. I seemed that every time Bet & Rio was in the same room together that’s all they did.

Convincing Bet begins when Rio has a job to do and it involves a woman named Bet.
Bet is at the end of her rope, she's ready for life to end. She's lost everything that's ever mattered to her, and when she meets Rio she feels that this will be her last thing she has before she's gone.

But, Rio came in this wanting one thing, and then he actually meets Bet and wants another. Now, he knows it's life or death and he must find away to convince her to live for him! This will be his greatest challenge, but nothings fair in love and and war.

This book was actually really good, and very heartbreaking as well. I really loved Rio and Beth's relationship, and I loved how Rio wasn't afraid to put his feelings on the line to prove to her she was it for him.

I did get annoyed with Bet at times, but I also felt deeply for what she went through, because that is something that would be horrible to experience, and I can't imagine how she continued to live like that.

The whole plot line was pretty good too, and there were a whole lot of sexy times as well. I look forward to more by this author, this one was another good one!

I really enjoyed this story for the most part. Very intriguing & there were some twists & turns. The beginning starts of kind of slow - Bet's not in a really great place, obviously, yet there is a lot of humor between her & Rio that's fun to read. I'm not sure if I missed that this is part of a series, or a connected book, but it sort of feels like it. There are a host of characters that it feels like we should already know, and that took a little getting used to.

LOVED the last few chapters, how things progressed & the sort of "gift of the maggai" feel there for a bit. Also, Rio sorta has this thing that he does, which I found hilarious. Gave me warm fuzzies & big smiles. : )

This is a must read. This is my first book by K.S. Adkins and will definitely not be my last either.

We meet Bet that has more money than she knows what to do with. She could care less about the money because she has lost everything that matters to her. She wants out. She is broken . She is just barely surviving till Rio comes along. He makes her feel alive. Rio tries to convince her to live. But the reason Rio was next door to her on vacation was not by chance. When Bet finds out the reason will she still be broken? Has Rio fixed her and made her want to live again?

I laughed and I cried while reading this so make sure you have tissues handy.

Love, love, love

I have to say that I'm an avid reader. I'm retired so I read one or two books each day and don't get a darn thing done. This book is one of my all time favorites. I just couldn't get enough of Rio and Bet. They had a different kind of beginning in their way to a true and lasting love. This book has it all, drama, betrayal, unbelievable heartbreak, undeniable lasting love, and some of the best humor I've read in a long time. This book made me laugh until I cried and cry for the heartbreak that Rio and Bet suffered.

This is the third book I've read by K.S. Adkins. She has quickly become one of my favorite romance authors.

Was giving this as a arc for an honest review.
Bet is trying to find a way to leave it all behind. Maybe find some peace on a little island. Rio is supposedly there for gambling problems. Adrian, Bet's husband's brother wants her but she wants nothing with him though it sounds like he tried after and before her small family's death. He tasked Rio with getting her to him. But Rio has fallen in love with her.... Will he hand her over or will he fight for what he wants? What will Bet do when she finds out about Rio betrayal.

Bet lost everything 6yrs ago an deeply mourned her lost to the point she lost her will to live. She goes to an island for a cpl of weeks to live to the fullest before ending her life. Her neighbor Rio became a fence friend(they talked through the fence for several days)and ends up meeting face to face. rio becomes very drawn to bet an made a point to convince her will to live. It's a great story to see how it plays out to the end.

Awwww

This book can be read as a stand alone, but I recommend reading 8 Mile and Rion first.
We have Rio from the first book and meet Bet. She's strong, feisty, independent, snark, and just an easy character to like. This book is about second chances, and learning to live again when you think you lost it all. I really liked these characters and the story line flowed seamlessly.
I would recommend this book!
