Okay, I need this on my shelf simply for the aesthetic. No one held back when it came to putting ✨vibes✨ into this one.
Now listen, I am in no way a mixologist. My resume includes: vodka sunrise 🍹, whiskey-sour-basil 🥃, and maybe a sangria if I’m feeling fancy. But I do like my drinks, and I was so here for this.
The author (god bless her soul 🙌) explains it like we’re 5 (but legally allowed to drink, you get it). She covers everything: glass types 🍸, layering, smoking, garnishing, and even making your own syrups, and the step-by-step instructions are super clear. You do need some tools though, since drinks require precise measurements (ml and oz).
The book is divided into: 1️⃣ Gins and vodkas 2️⃣ Rums, tequilas, and bourbons 3️⃣ Whiskeys and liqueurs 4️⃣ Non-alcoholic (zeroproof) 5️⃣ Anddddd pitcherssss for all of us besties meeting together 🥳🍷👯
Every drink is introduced with a magical, fantastical attribute so you can match the cocktail to your vibe. There’s even a “touch her and die” drink 😏. The names are hilarious, on point, and honestly dangerous because some had me drooling at 11 AM… but hey, it’s 5 PM somewhere.
⚠️ Caveat: these are full mixes (3–7 ingredients). Some are simple (lemon, basil), others need specific liqueurs or spirits you’ll have to buy or make. That means testing drinks can get pricey if you’re stocking a full bar. Hack: befriend your local bartender and ask them to make one or two so you can taste-test before investing.
Finally, the illustrations, while simple, are so atmospheric. They don’t just show a glass, they give you a whole mood (like “sky of red, lightning, dragons in it” mood 🐉🌩️).
Thank you Netgalley and Cider Mill Press for the eARC.
── .✦Mini reviewᝰ Yes, I like reading cookbooks (to a certain extent). (are you judging? I can feel you judging…😒 /jk) I find that there is a certain joy in opening a cookbook and reading about different types of foods and their ingredients. For the longest time, I’ve found cocktails to be fascinating (though I’m not of legal age, so I’ve never actually had one) and I remember 10 year old me, mixing together peach and apple juice with sparkling water and calling that a mocktail. Anyways, not me rambling for no reason-Going into this book, I knew I would enjoy it, despite the fact that I would never actually make any of the cocktails. Romantasy Cocktails is a whimsical, magical recipe book of cocktails and mocktails, with creative, romantasy genre inspired names like, “Dragon’s Breath” and “Villain Gets The Girl.” I had a great time reading this, because while I didn’t know half of the ingredients (I happen to not be very well versed on the different types of liquor) the description of each drink was very entertaining. Each drink has a paragraph that explains the name of the drink and its relation to the romantasy genre, and it was very fun and amusing to read. There was a drink for every romantasy scenario you can think of—from clandestine moonlit meetings with a secret lover, to destroying armoires and furniture (Xaden Riorsen and Violet Sorrengail style) to renting an inn with your enemy…only to find out that there’s only one bed. This recipe book was fun and enjoyable, and for those who fancy themselves a barmaid (or barman) can try their hands at creating one of the numerous, simple yet delicious (I’m sure) cocktail recipes. Overall, I give this book 3.25 stars, and I think Romantasy Cocktails is perfect for cocktail enthusiasts or romantasy readers who are interested in making drinks!
╰┈➤Thank you so much to NetGalley, the author, and publisher for the e-ARC of this book!
When the (slight) alcoholic in me saw this book, I knew I had to get my hands on it as soon as possible!! I am a fan of both romantasy as well as trying out new cocktail recipes, making this book an absolute need! I love how everything is split into different types of alcohol, and also the fact that no details are spared! There are even sections telling you about the different cups that can be used, as well as how to make your own syrups (I can't wait to try it out). This book has everything you need, and it's given to you in such a lovely and fun format!
The little stories behind each drink are very quirky and fitting of their respective drinks, and accompanied by illustrations! I truly cannot wait to get the physical copy and invite friends over, both readers and non-readers, to have a big fantasy themed cocktail party!! What more could you possibly want from life haha!
(Thank you NetGalley and Cider Mill Press for providing me with an e-ARC!)
I read a lot of romantasy and just bought a bar cart with my wife to add to our reading area so honestly this was right up my alley. It was a perfect mixture of information, like the differences between glasses, and trope paired recipes. I really appreciated the inclusion of a mocktail section because that takes the work out of adapting every recipe to be alcohol free. This would be perfect for book clubs and makes me want to host one myself!
I received an E-Arc of this book in exchange for a review via NetGalley. Thank you to NetGalley, the publisher and the author for this opportunity.
Romantasy Cocktails is a really cute take on a Cocktails recipe book inspired by every romantasy reader's favourite trends and tropes!
My favourite part of this book was the unique names for the different Cocktails, some highlights for me were; Feeling Territorial, a 'touch her and die' inspired Cocktail. Alphatini, inspired by everyone's favourite 'Alphaholes'. Shadow Daddy, inspired by the Romantasy genre's own 'tall, dark and handsome'. Beast in the Sheets, for everyone who aspires for their own 'only one bed scene'. Tall, Blonde and Handsome, because for every shadow daddy there needs to be the golden retriever boy to balance them out. Slow Burn, inspired by my own favourite type of Romance. Faerie Fizz, for everyone who has ever wanted to try 'Faerie Wine'
I loved the drawing for the different cocktails as well. As someone who doesn't really know too much about Cocktails it was really helpful to have the images there to explain what glasses are preferred and also an approximate of what the colour should be which Cocktail and what some unfamiliar ingredients might be. I also really liked that there were some non-alcoholic cocktails included as well, it made me really happy to see that the authors thought in advance to include everyone in the fun that can come with drink making!
However, some issues that I had was that I felt like many of the cocktails seemed very similar, there were a lot with a coffee liquor base and most of the ones that included this ingredient also had similar tropes associated with them as well. While I understand the coffee is a pretty quintessential 'dark' ingredient as someone who doesn't like coffee and prefers a sweeter cocktail, I would have like more sweet drinks as I felt like most of them had harsher liquors like rum or whiskey (in my opinion) that to me at least, seem quite 'heavy' when it comes to flavour and aren't my personal favourites to mix with. There are a few included however that are more on the sweeter side, so there are a few that I am excited to try but I would have liked to see more variety within the flavours or even just mixing up the coffee flavours in particular from time to time. Similarly, like most Cocktail books there were also a few ingredients include that I think are just too hard to get for the average person and would have liked if they could have included alternative ingredients just incase someone was unable to find that particular ingredient (i.e. Demerara sugar, butterfly pea, pine syrup, elderflower liquor). However, once again, I am not particularly well versed in drink making so, these ingredients may be a lot less rare than I am thinking.
Overall, I think Romantasy Cocktails is a really cute and inventive take on the Cocktail recipe book that is perfect for Romantasy friends. I could definitely see this book being a hit with Book Clubs in particular! I myself would love to share these drinks while giggling over my latest Romantasy Book Obsession, but alas I do not have bookish friends :(
If you've ever wished your favourite romantasy novel came with a cocktail menu, Romantasy Cocktails is your dream come true. This whimsical and steamy collection of 60 drink recipes is equal parts magic, mischief, and mixology, and I'm obsessed.
From the moment I opened it, I knew this book would be a hit with my book-loving, cocktail-sipping crew. It's beautifully laid out, super easy to navigate, and bursting with personality. The drink names alone, such as "Beast in the Sheets" and "Naked and Shameless," perfectly capture the spicy, swoon-worthy vibes of the romantasy genre.
The artwork adds a gorgeous, immersive touch, and each recipe feels like a mini escape into a new story. Whether it's the fiery tension of the Enemies-to-Lovers Sour or the forbidden thrill of Forced Proximity Punch, these cocktails are more than drinks; they're plotlines in a glass.
This is the kind of book you bring out for themed girls' nights, book club parties, or just a cozy Friday evening with your favourite fantasy novel. I can already picture my friends and me flipping through these pages, mixing potions, and quoting our favourite morally grey heroes.
Huge thanks to NetGalley and Cider Mill Press for the advanced copy; I had a great time with this one and can't wait to share it with my audience.
My review is based on an ARC received via the NetGalley platform.
Okay, I did not expect to enjoy a cocktail “cookbook” this much. As someone who only recently fell down the romantasy rabbit hole (and is now fully living there, thank you very much), this was just… delightful. The genre gets brushed off as “dragon smut” all the time—sure, that exists, and honestly there’s zero shame in it—but anyone who actually reads romantasy knows there’s so much more going on under the surface. We can love our sweeping epics and our completely unhinged “wink wink” moments that make us giggle even when the plot has jumped the rails. And Jassy really gets that balance. She’s clearly in on the joke, but she’s also not mocking the genre or trying to ride a BookTok wave without doing her homework. You can feel the affection in the way she writes.
Organization-wise, I loved that the sections are sorted by liquor type. As someone who is permanently banned from tequila thanks to one very poor decision abroad 15 years ago (we do not speak of it), I appreciate being able to skip right to the spirits I can handle. And while we’re on the subject—can we talk about the zero-proof section? Because it deserves a full round of applause. I don’t have anything against alcohol, but I choose to abstain pretty often, and it can be awkward being the only one without a “real” drink. And I’m sorry, but a Shirley Temple doesn’t count—that’s what my kids order. So seeing an entire lineup of thoughtful, fun alcohol-free options honestly made my day. And they aren’t boring either! That was true across the board: even when a drink riffed on a classic cocktail, there was always some little twist or unexpected flavor combo. Plenty of the original creations felt genuinely new to me. The drink names and descriptions were witty, cheeky, and very tongue-in-chic. The “You Have to Choose” shots had me cackling. (Team Brunette forever.)
All in all, this would make such a cute gift for my book besties—or a fun way to keep our book girlies (gender-neutral girlies, obviously) meetings perfectly on theme.

This book is jam packed full of amazing cocktail recipes! I love everything about it, especially the mix of cocktail types including non-alcoholic making sure there is something for everyone. I also really liked the style, artwork, and the cocktail names and descriptions themselves that really made me laugh. There are also some really cool inspiring cocktail ideas to try out like the snow glow cocktail and flower ice cubes. I can feel a romantasy inspired book club cocktail evening coming on! This would be a really amazing present idea for the book lovers in your life….I cannot wait for this book to be published so I can gift it to several of my friends.
This is a charming recipe book for cocktails. Inside, you will find 60 recipes that range across a wide variety of romantasy story styles: - Gins and vodkas - Rums, tequilas, and bourbons - Whiskeys and liqueurs - Non-alcoholic zero-proof options - Pitchers for sharing Each drink has been carefully crafted around themes that will feel instantly familiar to readers of romantasy novels. Whatever trope or magical element you love, you are going to find it captured in liquid form. For instance, if you’re drawn to stories containing dragons, there is a recipe called Dragon Breath waiting to be mixed, tasted, and enjoyed. What makes this book even more delightful is that every recipe begins with a short introduction linking the drink to its romantasy inspiration. These notes don’t just explain the origins of the cocktail, they are just like a short form of story, making you feel like you are in the world of the novels themselves. It is both entertaining and enjoyable.
this was such a fun concept and i actually really enjoyed it
romantasy cocktails is exactly what it sounds like, cocktails inspired by romance, tropes and fantasy vibes. It fully leans into that aesthetic. it’s one of those books you almost want physically just to have on your shelf because it’s so pretty.
i loved how much detail went into it. It doesn’t just throw recipes at you, it actually explains things like glass types, layering, smoking, garnishing and even how to make your own syrups which made it feel really accessible even if you’re not super experienced with drinks.
The way everything is split into different alcohol types made it really easy to navigate and i really appreciated that there’s a non alcoholic section as well so it actually feels inclusive and usable for more people.
The names were so fun and very on brand for romantasy readers. some of them genuinely made me laugh and others just fit the whole vibe perfectly.
That said, there were a couple things that held it back from being a full five stars for me. some of the drinks felt quite similar, especially with the repeated use of certain ingredients like coffee liqueur and i personally would’ve loved a bit more variety in flavour profiles.
some recipes also felt a little more complex or required ingredients that aren’t super easy to find, which makes it a bit less accessible unless you already have a well stocked bar.
Overall though this is such a cute and creative take on a cocktail book and i can absolutely see it being perfect for book clubs, themed nights, or just romanticising your reading life a little bit

Romantsy Cocktails immediately caught my attention because of the title and book cover. Even though I don't particularly imbibe in alcohol anymore, I was too intrigued to pass up a chance to get a sneak peek at these concoctions that would be on and in its pages.
The descriptions of the drinks in this book is, by far, the best thing about it. I enjoyed reading a lot of the different descriptions; they provided a bite of the Romantsy without having to read an entire novel to get it. With every page, with every new drink, I couldn't wait to see what the author came up with next, especially for the witty names of the drinks.
Sadly, I am disappointed by the majority of the drinks themselves that are provided in these pages. They didn't sound appealing, and I didn't have any desire to want to try them. There were a few that sounded promising, but a number requires homemade syrups created specifically here, and it is an extra step for things that don't sound all that drinkable.
All this being said, the descriptions alone are worth reading. They make you want to go out, pick a new book, and get lost in worlds described by the author.
Thank you NetGalley for giving me an advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
This is a beautiful cocktail book that would make a fantastic gift for any romantasy lover! There is a great section at the beginning of the book that goes over mixology and simple syrup recipes that are perfect for the novice and expert mixologists alike. The descriptions of the drinks themselves are very detailed and well written. They are also hilarious and right on the nose when it comes to romantasy! I read one aloud to my friend and the first thing she said is “the description makes me want to try the recipe” which is exactly the point. These recipes are completely legitimate cocktails with interesting new twists. There are also non-alcoholic beverage recipes and even pitchers!
My only complaint is a very minor detail about the artwork in the book. None of the images of the drinks are actually true pictures. They are all drawings. I’m not sure if it was just the ebook version, but some of the images were a little blurry. The backgrounds of the images were also reused throughout the book. Some of the backgrounds didn’t make sense with the theme of the drink either.
Thank you to Cider Mill Press and NetGalley for providing me with an ARC of this wonderful recipe book.
This is such a cute fantasy inspired cocktail book. It will look SO good on a bookshelf! Jassy hit it out of the park with the names and descriptions of these cocktails! Literally perfect for your next book club or girls night! I appreciated the "how to" section for different aspects of cocktails like how to layer a drink because this is information I wouldn't have known otherwise. I also loved the syrup recipes, these are awesome to have on hand! I loved the fantasy inspired art but wish the drink pictures were of the actual drinks. The inclusion of zero proof drinks was such a nice touch. This way everyone can enjoy something from this book! I'm a little bummed I didn't have enough ingredients on hand to make any of these straight away, but I'm looking forward to a trip to the store to get the stuff to try some of these! Thank you to Jassy Davis, Cider Mill Press, and NetGalley for this eARC!
Romantasy Cocktails is a great recipe book!! The essentials section is great, offering background on cocktails and what you need, glasses, layering, garnishes, different types of syrups, and even how to make them. Each type of spirit has its own section, making it simple to jump straight to the ones you enjoy most. Every drink features fun, colourful artwork and a romantasy‑themed title that really leans into the vibe. I loved browsing through them, some standout names include “Shadow Daddy” and “Beast in the Sheets.” The instructions are clear, easy to follow, and each recipe comes with a little introduction that adds a charming touch. I had such a good time with this cocktail book. Highly recommended, you might even discover your new favourite drink. Jassy Davis has done an amazing job with this one.
Thank you to Netgalley and Cider Mill Press for this e-arc!
Romantasy Cocktails is a must have for any Romantasy readers who love cocktails/ mocktails. The directions were easy to follow and the illustrations are perhaps the best part of the book! I will be purchasing a physical copy just to display on my coffee table! This title would make a lovely addition to any kitchen!
Thank you to the author, publisher, and NetGalley for allowing me an eARC of this title.
I really liked the graphics, the instructions were fairly easy to follow. There were some new bits I haven’t had or made before like butterfly pea syrup and some of the flavoured simple syrups. There were cocktails that you could do with what you had in the kitchen like the Brojito but there were others that were more complex.
Thank you NetGalley and Cider Mill press for the eARC
This book is perfect for people who love both books and drinks. The titles of the drinks are so well chosen. I also love how each drink has an elaboration the its title. That makes it way more fun to create the drink. The pictures of the cocktails were also well-made. They really fit the theme. The steps to making these cocktails are easy to follow, which is very nice. I'll be coming back to this book when I'll be making drinks again.
I am definitely going to try out a few of these recipes. This cookbook would be amazing as a gift for romantasy readers. It can be dangerous gifting a book to a huge reader because a lot of times we’ll either have a copy already or we have beef with the author for any variety of reasons, but gifting something like a cookbook inspired by a series or genre is a great idea in my opinion because people are likely to not already have it. I will likely purchase this one for my sister in the future.
Some of these recipes looked really tasty, and I loved how there was a non-alcoholic section. As someone that doesn’t really drink all that often, it’s always nice to see some ideas for mocktails. I do wish that the author had made a non-alcoholic version of everything, but I understand how that’d be hard for some of these. That being said, the hot cocoa in here looks amazing. I’m definitely going to have to try it, looks perfect for a cozy night in with a huge book and a fuzzy blanket.
You can definitely tell that the author loves romantasy and had a lot of fun coming up with these drinks. I laughed at a few of the descriptions, like the mocktail making fun of the eighteen-year-old plus 500-year-old trope. Many of the descriptions were very silly and this would be perfect to have in the kitchen or on a coffee table. I plan to add it to my own collection of cookbooks one day!
Thank you so much to NetGalley for providing an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.
The best way to spend the night in with your bookish friends? Make some tasty romantasy cocktails!! There’s a lot of options (also non alcoholic) and I was really happy to find that the author offers you some vegan substitutions for the recipes! The illustrations are pretty and the names of the cocktails (and their descriptions) make the whole experience even more enjoyable. My personal favorites are Problematic Age Gap, Dragon Strike and Feeling Territorial.
(Thank you so much to NetGalley, the author, and publisher for the e-ARC of this book!)
While the premise for this book was intriguing by title alone, it felt as though execution could be cleaner.
The Good: The book has an aesthetic cover with a great premise. Each cocktail has a kitschy description that will really hit with the target audience, and they were very enjoyable to read. There was a fun reimagining of which cocktails align with which tropes/ characterizarions.
The (not so) Good: I really wish there were actual photos of the completed cocktails in lieu of the lackluster graphics. It made it feel as though the cocktails hadn’t even executed which does not instill a vote of confidence for an amateur attempting as well as makes it difficult to discern if they are executed correctly by the reader. The drinks were primarily classics and if modifications were made, they were obscure ingredients that would be more difficult and pricey to find.
Overall I think photos alone would do wonders for making me want to purchase. For cookbooks in particular I either need them to have exceptional and unique recipes or be aesthetic enough to display.
Thank you to NetGalley and Cider Mill Press for the advanced copy.
A fabulous beginner-level grimoire for the book besties! Most readers will adore having several quick, relatively simple recipes at hand for book club night! I loved the unique names and usage of several lesser-known adds like absinthe, but was disappointed by the lack of variety. Although several of the pitcher recipes piqued my interest, there were few cocktails with herbaceous elements that, IMHO, are an absolute necessity for an elevated cocktail. Zero-Proof section was disappointing, I would have hoped the author to at least research some of the many zero-proof alcohols now on the market, so as to offer something besides various juice and soda combinations. And, my sincerest apologies, but to have a drink recipe book published in 2025 without either this research or recommendations for non-dairy subs, I just can't see myself purchasing. Illustration and presentation was a 10/10.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC Copy!
I’m honestly super impressed. I own a few book themed cocktail books but this one was truly well thought out with adorable illustrations and fun twists to classic drinks. Like their take of an espresso martini as “Shadow Daddy” is just absolute perfection.
I can’t wait till it comes out & to make some more themed drinks soon!
Okay, listen, Romantasy Cocktails: 60 Spicy and Sweet Cocktails to Fall For by Jassy Davis is basically the recipe book I didn’t know I needed, and now I’m wondering how I ever threw a book club night, a girls’ hangout, or even just a cozy solo reading session without it. This isn’t just a cocktail guide, it’s a whole mood, and if you’re into romantasy (hello, guilty-as-charged), it feels like the most magical crossover between your favorite fictional worlds and your bar cart.
The concept alone deserves a standing ovation: sixty cocktail recipes inspired by romance-fantasy vibes. Sweet, sultry, fiery, magical, you name it, there’s a drink to match it. It’s like Jassy Davis peeked directly into the romantasy reader brain (yes, the one that thinks “what would Rhysand drink?” or “what cocktail screams dragon rider vibes?”) and decided to answer it with a gorgeous, creative collection.
The book itself is stunning. The graphics? Gorgeous. The styling? On point. Complete with sparkly vibes and all the cozy/glamorous energy of your favorite fantasy aesthetic. It’s the kind of book you’ll leave out on your coffee table just so guests can “casually” flip through and be wowed.
Now, let’s talk about the drinks. They’re not just pretty, they’re actually good. There’s a great balance between sweet, spicy, fruity, and strong, so there’s truly something for everyone. Some are fun and approachable (hello, easy-to-make drinks that won’t stress you out mid-party), while others are a little more elaborate, the kind of recipe you break out when you want to impress. The naming and flavor profiles tie so beautifully into romantasy tropes that you’ll be giggling while mixing. (Like, imagine sipping on a “Forbidden Kiss” cocktail while reading your enemies-to-lovers fave, pure serotonin.)
What I really loved is that Davis doesn’t just throw recipes at you; she makes it feel like an experience. There’s a playful tone in the way the drinks are introduced, almost like she’s in on the inside joke of being a bookish romantic who just wants to pair a vibe with a sip. It makes the book feel less like a manual and more like a fun hangout with a fellow fantasy-obsessed friend.
As someone who has spent way too much time on Pinterest trying to DIY “bookish cocktails,” this book was a breath of fresh air. Everything is curated, themed, and beautifully executed, so all the work is done for you, you just get to enjoy. It’s perfect for book clubs, date nights, or just spicing up your own reading nook nights.
Final thoughts: Romantasy Cocktails is whimsical, creative, and genuinely useful. It’s a book that doubles as both a practical guide and a fandom-inspired treasure. Whether you’re a seasoned mixologist or someone who barely knows the difference between gin and vodka, you’ll find recipes here that are fun, accessible, and absolutely delicious. Five glowing stars because this is more than a cocktail book, it’s a romantasy reader’s dream accessory, and honestly, I’m ready to host a whole themed party around it.
If you have a romantasy fan who also enjoys cocktails on your gift list, this book is made for your gift giving! From the cover on, there are beautiful colors & fantasy-esque illustrations throughout. Since I am reading this as an ebook, I cannot comment on the cover beyond the picture provided, however a print copy would likely make an attractive addition to any bar collection.
An Essentials section provides insight to selection of glasses, layered drinks, and cocktail smokers, and cocktail embellishments.
Next up, a chapter on concocting your own simple syrups and infusions.
Then we have the various chapters with recipes organized by spirit. Each recipe covers a page spread, with a brief intro paragraph at the top, followed by the recipe. The facing page shows an illustration of the drink. Several recipes also include suggested modifications, adorably called Changelings. Unfortunately, I haven't yet tried any of the recipes to comment on their taste.
My one complaint about this book, and my reason for 4 stars instead of 5, is that I do have to question the groupings selected: Gins & Vodkas; Rums, Tequilas, & Bourbons; Whiskies & Liquers; Zero-Proof (aka mocktails); and Pitchers (for those larger gatherings!) ??? Why aren't whiskies & bourbons grouped together and liquers their own category? Ultimately, why not just seperate each drink into individual chapters based on the primary spirit used? For example, several recipes in the Whiskies & Liquers chapter use vodka and no whisky (Vampire's Thrall, Dark Magic, Forbidden Kiss, etc.) ???
The review copy I received did not include an index, which I personally would have preferred. This way, one might be able to look up an ingredient to see where else it can be used.
Perfect gift for romantasy readers who also enjoy beautiful drinks. Not recommended for anyone who might be offended by the mention of "smut" or related terms, such as cocktails named "Beast in the Sheets" or "Naked & Shameless", but then they're probably not huge Romantasy fans either.
Thank you to Cider Hill Press & NetGalley for this ARC. All opinions stated are solely my own and provided voluntarily.
This was such a fun idea that I knew the moment I saw it, I had to get my hands on it. Romantasy Cocktails combines the magic of romance and fantasy with the art of mixology, and it honestly feels like more than just a recipe book. This is the kind of book I would love to have displayed on my kitchen counter, as well as on my nightstand, living room table, and bookshelf... you name it! The colorful design, playful introductions, and witty names really capture the romantasy vibe that we all know and love (thanks tik tok). Additionally, the variety of recipes means there’s something for every occasion, whether it’s a cozy night in with a book, a themed party, or a gathering to host a book club. This is definitely something I would lean into as well while I'm reading my favorite romantasy picks for the *vibes*.
I loved the syrup recipes (the Chamomile Syrup is already on my list to make), and I really appreciated that ingredients are written in both metric and non-metric, making it super accessible for all readers alike. The mix of classics with a twist and original drinks inspired by tropes and world-building kept things interesting and really made it stand out compared to other recipe books. There are even non-alcoholic options, which is always a plus! It will come in handy for all friends to enjoy!
It might feel a little more geared toward those who already enjoy making cocktails rather than complete beginners, though, and I did sometimes wish for photos of the finished drinks instead of just illustrations of what they COULD look like. But honestly, the artwork is so charming and the whole book so pretty that it’s still something I would recommend for all readers to go out and get as a trophy on the shelf.
Overall, this is a delightful and imaginative collection that romantasy readers will have a lot of fun with, and I can’t wait to try out more of the recipes while I explore more books to read!
♡ Thank you to Netgalley, Jassy Davis, and Cider Mill Press for the arc; all opinions are my own ♡

~~~~~~~~~~~~ Who doesn't love Romantasy right now? Since ACOTAR, the new Romantasy trend has swept the literary world with its magic hidden in plain sight. And now it is flowing into our reality in the most entertaining and enjoyable ways. Jassy Davis gives us a beautiful cocktail book with delightful drinks and gorgeous illustrations; even the descriptions of each drink and section oozes the lyrical, fantastic prose every Romantasy reader adores. I haven't made all the drinks in Davis' book, but the few I have are magically tasting and beautifully mystical.
I recommend Romantasy Cocktails to any adult romantasy lover as well as anyone who loves a cocktail that makes you feel like magic.
Thank you, NetGalley and Cider Mill Press, for sending me an ARC in exchange for my honest review.
If you're looking for drink recipe ideas for your next book club meeting, don't read this review. Just buy this book already.
(Why are you still reading? I'm serious.)
This book is exactly what you're signing up for. It's 60 romantasy-themed cocktail recipes, each with a cute little writeup explaining its name, prefaced by a short section giving a little intro to cocktail making. (Disclaimer: If, like me, you're totally new to mixology, this probably won't be enough to get you mixing. But it'll show you what to google!)
The book isn't without its flaws, but let's be real, you're not buying it to get a perfect book, you're buying it for the theme. That said, for the sake of thoroughness, some things to consider if you're debating between this and, I dunno, making up your own romantasy-themed drinks...
• As many other reviewers have mentioned, the book is illustrated with simplistic collage-style images—it does NOT feature real images of the drinks. This makes it feel a bit cheap, and it sets off some alarm bells in my mind, making me wonder if every recipe has been fully tested. As someone who doesn't know much about mixology, I also find this leaves me rather adrift as I consider trying new-to-me recipes—how do I know what the final drinks are meant to look like?
• Often, cookbooks begin with guides to staples one can buy to keep prices down. This is a book that could definitely have benefited from that sort of approach! Many drinks have fairly unique, sometimes pricey ingredients, and while there are notes on substitutions available for some of them, those newer to drink-making would find it pricey to try many of the cocktails that pique their interest.
• Some of the concepts felt like pretty big reaches. An "alcoholic version of a contraceptive shot"? 👀 Sure, you've stayed on theme, but...
(Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the temporary eBook loan! All opinions are, of course, my own.)
The recipes are detailed without being intimidating, and the illustrations make every page feel like stepping into another realm. But what truly stole my heart are the descriptions for each drink.
