Bob Singleton is back in Hit List the brand new story from Ian Loome. I really like Bob, but there are many people who really don't and that is part of the ongoing problem in this series. That and his constant lack of money. Loome has created a character that speaks to me and I am really glad I found the work from this author and I can really recommend them to all fans of thrillers. In this adventure it's not some innocent person that needs help. The twists that Bob is up against is among the worst ever, will he make it? Well the book hits the shelves July 13th and then you can find out. I must thank Netgalley and Inkubator Books for giving me an advance copy to enjoy.

Hit List by Ian Loome
Rogue Warrior #9

~ Intense, immersive, action-packed thrill-ride from beginning to end ~ Great addition to the series ~

What I Liked:
* Bob Singleton: ex-military, ex-CIA assassin, recovering alcoholic, strong, lethal, has his own moral compass, intelligent, protective, cautious, intriguing, tenacious, resolute, pays his debts, seems to want to slow down but never given a break
* Adam Renton: Freelance mission handler for Bob and others, former NSA, spook and signals intelligence expert, intriguing, enjoyed seeing him again and having a glimpse of his home protection devices
* The flashback to when he met Eddie Stone and how it played into this story
* The way Bob adapts and adjusts in and out of life-threatening action scenes
* The plot, pacing, setting, twists & turnas, and writing
* Being able to dislike the “bad guys” and wish Karma – or Bob – will find them
* The way some of Bob’s past decisions impacted his interactions with acquaintances in this book
* The way spies must look at their lives and what they do – got a sense of this a bit and that not all are similarly motivated though I am sure all want to come through alive
* Nangial and his family that provided more insight about Bob
* That I respect Bob and what he does to help those he considers friends
* Thinking about where Bob will end up next and what person he will decide to help AND wondering if he will ever be able to retire and relax
* All of it except…

What I didn’t like:
* Who and what I was meant not to like – and there were a few
* The person that put the hit on Bob’s head and his reason for doing so
* Thinking about how difficult it would be to keep one’s mind and body focused if in Bob’s situation while unable to truly trust anyone
* Having to wait for the next book

Did I enjoy this book? Yes
Would I read more in this series? Definitely

Thank you to NetGalley and Inkubator Books for the ARC – this is my honest review.

Hit List is the latest book in the Rogue Warrior series focusing on ex special ops/CIA assassin Bob Singleton who has been on the run for years as the CIA try to clean up after an op gone bad. While they have always been after him, the pressure is greater this time as it isn't just his old bosses who want him gone but a large bounty on his head too.

The book is the ninth in the series, but they are all very readable as standalones. If you are unfamiliar with the books, imagine Reacher if his bosses wanted him dead. He has a loyal streak and wants what is right but also doesn't let it get in the way of harming people or killing when needed - and there is a lot of it needed.

I was happy to see more of Eddie and Renton in this book and some history of when Bob joined the clandestine group within the CIA looking for life after the service. There is a lot happening in this book, I thought the story was close to the end and was surprised that I was only 60% through the book.

The end of this closes up some ongoing storylines. Maybe Bob has a bit of an easier time in the future - but I doubt it. Thanks to Inkubator Books and Netgalley for the copy for review.

I received an ARC through "Booksprout" and I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.

This story has Singleton now in Albany after his trouble in San Diego. Things have been good for Bob, but that all changes. Heading home after a bowling match, he is attacked and manages to get away. He is still being chased. Soon he receives a call from Lucy asking for help. It has been around 20 tears since he last heard from her. She is now being targeted and needs help. It seems that the person she was doing work with has wanted her killed. Bob agrees to help her because she would tell him who wanted Bob killed. Bob after receiving information from Lucy now went to Manhattan. While there, he was attacked several times but still was working to resolve Lucy's issue.

Discover what Lucy wanted Bob to do, who put a contract out on Bob, how his old mentor was involved and how it all worked out in the end.

This story is well worth reading!

This is the next Rogue Warrior thriller by Ian Loome, the ninth book of the series, that starts sedately in a bowling alley where Bob watches his opponent confidently achieve a strike. He hires a cab outside the bowling alley, finds the driver is a replacement for the original driver, and it's action time. It's non-stop action from then on, escaping the murder attempt and getting entangled with a Chinese secret agent on the run for allegedly viewing a pen drive containing a secret code of a new software. From then on, it becomes a non-stop run, trying to keep himself alive and escape an open contract on the dark web for his life and a bounty of ten million dollars. It's becoming predictable how the book will turn out, and I leave it to the reader to be the sole judge. Overall, a good, quick read over the weekend, keeps you engaged, but at the same time, knowing the outcome.
Thank you, BookSprout, for providing a copy of this book for review. The opinions expressed herein are my own.

Anyone following the Rogue Warrior Series than this is a must read. Like all the books though can be read as a stand-alone. Bob can't even have a game of Bowls without getting into trouble. The first of the many hit men attack him after he leaves the Bowling Ally. A very big contract has been put out on Bob, and this makes for plenty of action with him trying to survive and trying to find out who put the kill order out, all while completing a task of his own. His friend Renton is even drawn into this by the killers. This book draws a lot from his past, and we find out how he came to work for CIA. Some things are finally put to rest. Now we are left to wonder in what direction Bobs life will go now. Waiting for the next outing in this series. Don't miss this great read.

Someone has offered a huge amount of money to anyone that can kill Bob. There are people coming out of the woodwork and he is on constant high alert.

There are the Russians, the Chinese, two women from his past, covert operators, and members of the government. All these characters are tied to Darin 2…lots of money involved, willing to kill for.

There are double crosses and really can’t trust anyone. Bob does have scruples and not wild about collateral damage. He has to stay one step ahead and simply survive.

There is a great ending and he leaked a few visits to special characters…he is there and then he is not.

Don’t mess around with Bob! A tale that follows ex-CIA operative around his own secret op. He has been found but doesn’t know who is after him. There are old acquaintances that keep popping up. All with secrets and promises. There is gunfire, knife fights and explosions. There are things he needs to stay alive but they come with a price. Thankfully assassins always carry cash. Past relationships both benefit and confuse him. Is it possible to keep beating the odds over and over. Who will pay his debts? A thriller with plenty of twist to keep you scratching your head but definitely not putting this book down.

This is the 9th book in the Rogue Warrior series. I have not read the other books of the series, there are some references to the past which will be clearer to the people who have read the other books but it can still be read as standalone and enjoyed. Actually I have enjoyed this 😊 It's like an action movie being played on screen! It can be a great movie or series if it is made well 😀 It was a rollercoaster ride with the main character! It's that 'on the edge of your seat' thriller which I love! Loved the adrenaline rush! Thanks Netgalley and Inkubator Books for the early copy 😊

Bob is in Albany when he is attacked and it seems there's a contract out on him. An old acquaintance contacts him also looking for help and he finds himself in the middle of dealings involving China and the US, all while trying to avoid more mercenaries on his trail.

I loved the international aspect to this and the fact there were more parties involved looking for him. It made everything more intriguing and guaranteed the usual action-packed thrilling read. I loved the sense of not knowing who to fully trust and figuring out how Bob would get himself out of each situation. Terrific stuff.

Our favorite Rogue Warrior Bob is on the run again from an assassin who seems to know his every move. Bob's everyday life is always one helluva ride ducking bullets, avoiding bombs and people masquerading as friends this time He's trying to help a friend and lands himself in more dangerous situations as if having a assassin on your tail isn't enough trouble and all he's wants is to live a peaceful life. I'm amazed at Mr.Loome's talent and writing creativity.

This time around not only is Bob helping a Chinese spy, he has to try and dodge the multiple assassins who are after him for a ten million dollar reward. This is my favorite in this series so far. I started with book 7 so I still need to catch up on Bob’s back story. This one was so action packed. Loved it. I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book.

Bob Singleton can't understand why people are after him and can always seem to find him no matter where he is. Bob seeks answers from a Chinese spy, Lucy. They strike a deal..she will find out who is trying to kill him and he finds out who is trying to steal technology from China. This book is of course very well written and continues the series wonderfully.

Bob's Back

Definitely a good read with an interesting plot that includes several twists and turns. I do hope Loome stops making Bob such a cry-baby over his past and further develops the character from an alcoholic hobo to someone more like Bond or Bourne. The self pity starts drag after 9 stories! Give Bob some flair and fun.

This is a well-written book, easy to read and with very good characters. There are plenty of action scenes, but they are like cartoons, where the main character just keeps going and going. And it's based on luck, not smarts.

I'm pretty sure by now that Bob Singleton cannot die! This man has taken more punches/bullets than any one person should and he just keeps on trucking!

For a lone wolf he's collecting a whole host of friends/allies and even a paramour or too! The CIA may still be on his trail but Bob has so far managed to keep one step ahead of them. But his run of luck may just have run out. Albany, NY doesn't automatically come to mind when you think of the Mafia but it looks like Bob has kicked another hornets nest!

There are so many hitters out to unalive our Bob that I kind of got lost with them all! Enemies become allies and Bob is never quite sure who he can trust.

Eddie Stone and his crew of CIA goons are still making his life a misery and I really enjoyed the twists the storyline took with the characters.

Action Twisted By

Action? Yes and plenty of it. But surrounded by a very twisty plot. You’ll get much more context if you’ve read previous books in this series. Points for very good writing, dialogue and the ambitious scope of this adventure.

Another good book by Ian Loome

Enjoyed this book as much as I have all the books in this series. Good characters, twisting plots, and a lot of action. I have one book left to read in this series and I am looking forward to it.

Non stop action with a great plot. Bob again doing what he does best. Very minimal philosophising which meshed with the story. Good work Ian Loome.

This book is true to genre: lots of action and intriguing plot twists. Great description of various surveillance devices, enough for the reader to wonder if they are ever safe. The violence was graphically described which may offend some readers.

Is it just me, or are so many lone alpha-male ex-military/CIA types who can't help but be Good Samaritans being written into plots with international significance these days? Ian Loome is not immune from this trend in Bob Singleton's latest adventure.

As usual, Bob is trying to keep it low key - this time in Albany, NY - when everyone seems to try taking him out, and he can't figure out why. Trying to get the answer leads to him getting in deep with an aforementioned international plot involving China, Russia, along with old partners and nemiseses.

Suffice it to say, Bob has come a long way from just trying to stay one step ahead of Eddie Stone and the local threats to those he helps out of jams. Hit List has a more complex scheme, but Loome does a good job keeping the intrigue up and not overwhelming us with too many characters and plot elements that would make - at least me - lost trying to keep up.

With that said, Bob stays true to form and, despite all odds, you know he'll get the job done in the end. As usual, the bad guys will pay the ultimate price, and Bob will get ready to move on to his next locale. Can't wait to find out where, and who he'll be fighting back against then!
