Mike Hall is best known as the frontman of Eric Clapton tribute band Classic Clapton, which has toured throughout the UK and abroad, including Glastonbury Festival. Mike was born in Durham in 1952. He became a chartered surveyor in Newcastle upon Tyne but he sold his company to become a full-time musician with After Midnight at the age of 46.
This book is part one of two and covers the early part of Mike's life, when he developed a love for music and the guitar as played by Eric Clapton and other guitar heroes. In the 60s and 70s he watched many local bands and some major artistes including the Beatles, Free, Cream and Clapton. These gigs and venues are described, such as Newcastle City Hall, Club a'GoGo and Sunderland Locarno (Fillmore North).
Mike recounts his teenage years when he formed his first band at school. In the 70s and early 80s he regularly performed around the northeast club circuit. This book covers the period up to 1985 when Mike formed After Midnight after being inspired by Clapton's performance at Live Aid. He has accumulated countless memories which are vividly portrayed within.
