This revolutionary new book shows authors and publishers how to use the latest technologies to publish books with worldwide distribution at a small fraction of the cost of traditional methods. It also explains how authors can effectively promote their books using new, and proven, marketing methods. As noted by Walter Kirn in TIME Magazine (8/2/99) "The 60-second book ... some industry experts predict that someday all books will be published this way." Co-authored by Dan Poynter, widely regarded as one of the world's foremost authorities on self publishing, and Dan Snow, an expert on new publishing technologies who is widely quoted by news media across the nation, "U-Publish.com" is intended to provide writers and publishers with a blueprint for book publishing in the 21st century. The book has been published using the same technologies it explains. An electronic version can now be downloaded directly to the computers of readers around the world, in a matter of minutes. Paperback copies can also be ordered from leading online booksellers, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. In addition, high quality "print-on-demand" paperbacks will soon be available to order from all major outlets, including more than 25,000 "bricks and mortar" bookstores. Readers can obtain regular updates, free offers and announcements of interest to authors and publishers from a new website, named for the book's www.u-publish.com New technologies are rapidly changing the way books will be delivered to a vast worldwide audience in the new millennium. "U-Publish.com" shows writers and publishers how to use them today.

Most author find out the hard way that writing that great book is only the start of the publishing process. Even getting that book into print is only a small portion of the work. Whether you go to a publisher or opt to publish your work yourself, the author's most important and time consuming job will be promoting the finished product. This book is meant to help authors create, organize, and make the most of their promotional strategies.

[...] illustrates how independent publishers and authors can make use of niche markets to sell their book and suggests that writers think about their potential market before they start to write. The authors have included lists of questions to ask publishers and printers. They also include some important tips about dealing with reviewers and making use of free promotion on the Internet and in with the media. In addition to regularly updating the material in this resource (this is the third edition), the authors also post monthly updates on their website.
