Brooke writes closed-door, mildly sweary contemporary romance. A tortured artist who began writing plays in the 3rd grade, she lost her muse as a teen and struggled for years to write again. The Magic of Unexpected Encounters

Kelsey is about to marry her boyfriend, Chip. While trying on her wedding dress, just before Christmas Eve begins, her world collapses: she discovers that her fiancé is cheating. In shock, she storms out of the store, searching for a place where no one will find her. In a cozy bar, she crosses paths with Sev, a marine who will be deployed again in a few days. Two people, both at a crossroads in their lives, find each other at an unexpected moment. What begins as a chance encounter grows into a special tradition: every year, on the same day, they meet on the bench in front of the bar. Slowly, Kelsey realizes that the man who is so kind, caring, and genuine may just be the love she has always been missing.

Brooke Burton’s writing style reads effortlessly. The short chapters alternate between Kelsey and Sev, allowing the reader to truly get inside their heads and feel what they feel. Burton uses a “closed-door” approach, meaning there are no explicit scenes, but instead a strong focus on emotion, connection, and the building of trust, which makes this story feel especially warm and genuine.

In ‘Forever Yours on Christmas Eve’, readers get a heartfelt glimpse into the life of someone in a relationship with a marine, along with all the uncertainties that come with it. At the same time, Kelsey struggles with her studies and the pressures they bring. Family, love, and the realization of how precious time is form the red thread throughout this story.

A romantic Christmas novel full of hope, heartwarming moments, and a touch of melancholy, perfect to read under a cozy blanket with a cup of hot chocolate, while snow (or rain) gently falls outside.

A story that celebrates the magic of unexpected encounters and reminds us that the greatest love sometimes appears exactly when we least expect it.

The amount that I loved this novella I can’t even put into words. I definitely wasn’t expecting to like it so much. I was in the mood for a really good Christmas romance and that’s exactly what I got.

This novella takes place over two years and I loved getting to experience the growth of Kelsey and Sev’s friendship and the way it evolved into more. I knew from the very first meeting it was going to be such a beautiful journey.

This short read truly had me grinning from ear to ear so many times. It was beautiful and the perfect feel good romance for the holiday season.

Thank you so much to Happily Booked PR and the author for an advance copy of this novella!

This was a very cute and sweet novella. I really enjoyed how the two main characters met on Christmas Eve and then kept that tradition going.

I’m honestly not one for military romance much but this one was good and it wasn’t heavily focused on that aside from the logistics of military life and I really enjoyed how the separation gave them time apart to grow as individuals and as a couple.

Because it’s a novella it is fast paced, but it’s not insta love as the novella spans multiple years with brief snippets of the year and larger portions about the Christmas Eves that they meet up.

If you’re looking for a cute quick holiday read you’ll like this.

I thought this was a really cute Christmas novella.

Kelsey, on Christmas Eve finds out her fiancé is cheating on her & she ends up in a bar, amd sits down next to Sev, a military man on leave.

They strike a conversation, and agree to meet the next Christmas Eve.

I enjoyed the different take on a military romance.

With Kelsey trying to finish school, and Sev being deployed, will they only have Christmas Eve each year or will it blossom to more?

That one hit close. The author's depiction of deployment was harsh in the most honest of ways. Holidays are hard on both sides. Sev and Kelsi are perfect. The swoon factor and the love language between these two just flowed. Great read. Just Kisses.

Thank you so much Brooke for allowing me to read an advanced copy. I absolutely loved this book from start to finish. It was such an easy to follow read that kept you wanting more after each chapter. I will say that this got me teary eyed towards the end because things that happened were just so cute. I enjoyed that this was an ended type of story that didn’t make you to have to continue or know the characters to understand like many other novels in this genre.

Heartfelt, Festive, and Full of Healing

Forever Yours on Christmas Eve by Brooke Burton is a warm, emotionally satisfying holiday romance that blends heartbreak, hope, and the magic of second chances. If you enjoy stories where two wounded souls stumble into each other at exactly the right moment, this one hits all the right notes.

The story begins with a memorable meet-cute: Kelsey shows up at a bar on Christmas Eve in her wedding dress, still reeling from discovering her fiancé’s betrayal. Sev, a Navy sailor just days from deployment, is trying not to cloud his family’s Christmas with the weight of leaving again. Neither expects to make a connection—yet fate, and a shared desire to escape, has other plans.

Burton does a lovely job crafting their first night together. It’s whimsical without feeling overdone—there are midnight secrets, origami roses, and a spontaneous motorcycle getaway. In that brief window, both characters glimpse the possibility of something more. Their pact to return to the same spot next Christmas Eve is touching and gives the story a unique structure.

Kelsey and Sev’s chemistry feels sincere, driven less by instant attraction and more by the comfort they find in one another’s presence. As their yearly tradition grows into something deeper, you really root for them to overcome distance, fear, and the uncertainty of military life.

The stakes heighten when a crisis separates them by thousands of miles. Kelsey’s emotional journey—deciding whether to risk the friendship they've built for a chance at love—is genuinely compelling. Sev, with his protective steadiness and vulnerability, is equally endearing.

This book shines in its themes:
✨ healing after heartbreak
✨ the courage to love again
✨ traditions that create connection
✨ the uncertainty of loving someone who serves

The writing is heartfelt, cozy, and seasonally magical without being sugary. Fans of military romances and holiday love stories will especially enjoy this one.

Final Verdict:
A tender, uplifting Christmas romance about finding love when you least expect it and choosing bravery in matters of the heart. Perfect for curling up with a blanket and hot cocoa.

⭐️⭐️⭐️️⭐️/ ️🌶️

Brooke Burton is an author that can put a whole lot of story into a quick, swoony, romantic book. I never feel as though her stories are forced or missing vital information. Every story is full of heart, passion, and romance that hits just right. Her latest release, Forever Yours on Christmas Eve, is a short novella that brings two hearts together Christmas after Christmas. What starts out as a chance meeting turns into something deeper than either ever thought it would be.

Kelsey finds out her fiance is cheating on her right in the middle of trying on her wedding dress. She is heartbroken and goes to find solace at a local bar. Still in her wedding dress she meets Sev, who is set to deploy in a few days. As the night continues, they talk nonstop and before they know it, the night is over and it is the next day. They make a pact to meet every year on Christmas Eve. As Christmas Eves come and go, they deepen their connection through emails, Facetime, and calls to each other. Both are afraid to be hurt again, but will that hurt really hold them back from diving in and giving them a chance?

Brooke fills this short story with so much emotion that the layers just keep peeling back as these two get to know each other. I adored watching them learn to trust each other and even though there is an instant attraction, they really do take the time to cultivate their relationship. A friendship that grows into a deeper love than either ever thought possible is worth taking the risk for. Both Kelsey and Sev were wonderful characters to watch grow. A wonderful story that I am so happy I took the time to read.

As always, review any author notes before reading.

This one was not at all what I was expecting it was so much more. Kelsey finds out the day of her dress fitting that she has a lowdown dirty cheating fiancé. She escapes and ends up in a shady bar Second Call. She is just looking for an escape from the reality of her life. But she ends up with so much more.
Sev a navy sailor is looking for a little downtime, an escape on Christmas Eve before he goes to face his family. In walks Kelsey in a wedding dress and completely knocks him for a loop. Neither one of them were expecting the other but sparks quickly fly. At the end of the night Sev tells Kelsey that he is shipping out. They make a pact to see each other next year same time, same place.
Hold on because you are now taken on a ride with these two learning about each other from a distance. But distance doesn't matter with these two. Especially when something happens with Kelsey's dad and the distance gets even bigger. Will distance keep them apart or will distance bring them closer together?
I absolutely loved this one so very much. Kelsey is a person who wears her heart on her sleeve and is there to pull Sev out of his darkness, but at the same time Sev is there to be her light. You experience how their relationship evolved into something unbreakable no matter the distance between them.
My two favorite quotes from this storyline are these:
"Start from where you are." and "If a guy doesn't show up with flowers don't bother opening the door."
Brooke did one amazing job writing this very sweet, wonderful Christmas love story.

I received an advance copy of this book. I am under no obligation to leave a review, and my review has not been solicited. My review is my opinion and my opinion only.

Forever Yours on Christmas Eve is a sweet, closed-door, standalone novella. I absolutely adored everything about it! Our FMC, Kelsey, gets the news that her fiancé has been cheating on her while she is at her wedding dress fitting on Christmas Eve. That is so heartbreaking! She leaves the fitting, stunned, in the wedding dress and goes to a local bar to get away from everyone. She happens to sit next to a handsome Navy man, Sev. They strike up a conversation about the boxing match on TV, and Sev is astonished to learn she’s a fan. The conversation is easy, but when they get to the discussion of what happened and why she’s there in a wedding dress, the book really starts getting interesting. Sev decides to show her what a real date looks like. They have dinner, and he even makes her paper roses instead of real flowers (oh my heart!!!). Kelsey’s fiancé shows up at the bar while she’s in the restroom, and Sev helps her escape (on the back of his motorcycle, no less). At the end of the night, they both feel a connection. However, he’s about to deploy, and Kelsey is heading back to college. They make a plan to meet one year later at the same bar, and the story continues from there.

The story is told in both Kelsey's and Sev’s viewpoints, and the author’s writing flows very well. I never felt that the story was rushed. There was so much heart and emotion, and it’s an excellent example of patience and of family love and devotion. Also, building a friendship first and then a romantic relationship, which I find very romantic in today’s “swipe left, swipe right” world. If you are a fan of closed-door, small-town, HEA, Holiday romances, this is the book for you! Thank you to the author for the advance copy. All opinions are my own.

Forever Yours on Christmas Eve by Brooke Burton is a sweet, closed-door Christmas novella that feels like a cozy, feel-good holiday romance. It is a quick, easy read but can easily be compared to a Hallmark movie because it focusing on themes of second chances, hope, and the magic of Christmas which the majority of those movies are. I enjoyed reading about the two main characters, Kelsey (FMC) and Sev (MMC). They who are both seeking an escape on Christmas Eve. Kelsey has just left her cheating fiancé and is still in her wedding dress, while Sev, a Navy sailor, is days away from deployment, when they meet by chance in a small-town bar and share one perfect night. Deciding later to make a pact and meet each other every year on Christmas Eve at the same bar. Several years of this and in between text, calls and FaceTime, their relationship eventually turns into a deep connection and devotion that ultimately leads to their happily ever after.

Burton does a wonderful job with the pace of the storyline. Beautifully written and executed. I enjoyed reading the characters chemistry and how the relationship developed slowly over time even though one can sense that the attraction was instant from both part.

Overall, Forever Yours on Christmas Eve is a beautiful novella that is quick to read, low-angst, military Christmas romance that full of hope and festive cheer.

10/10 Would recommend to family and friends.

They were looking for an escape and found each other instead. Can a Christmas Eve tradition bring them together for good?

Kelsey and Sev came to the same bar on Christmas Eve for the same reasons: to escape. Kelsey, in her wedding dress, after breaking up with her cheating fiancé. Sev, just days from deploying with the Navy, determined not to bring down his family’s Christmas.

The last thing they expected was to find each other.

In one magical night of secrets revealed, origami roses, and a getaway ride on his motorcycle, Kelsey realizes she doesn't want to let go of the handsome and protective sailor. She offers to make a pact with him: they'll both work to transform their lives, and hold each other accountable by returning to the same spot next Christmas Eve to see how far they've come. Unable to resist the stunning blonde with the sparkling eyes, Sev agrees.

When disaster strikes and they're separated by thousands of miles, she doesn’t want to play it safe with him any longer. Forever Yours on Christmas Eve by Brooke Burton is a holiday novella. Kelsey is at her dress fitting for her upcoming wedding and finds out that her fiance has been unfaithful. Sev is about to deploy with the Navy. They meet Christmas Eve at a local bar.

They have an instant connection. They make a pact to stay in touch and to meet at the same bar the following Christmas Eve.

This is a heartwarming story. While set around the holidays, this story can be read anytime of year. I liked how we saw Kelsey and Sev’s relationship grow over the course of the year. The novella is well-paced to show this build while simultaneously balancing their instant connection and chemistry. They are separated most of the year. Despite the distance, this novella shows the power of their bond and love for one another.

Readers who enjoy small town holiday romance stories with the protagonists finding love unexpectedly will like this novella.

Thank you to Brooke Burton and Happily Booked PR for the opportunity to read and review this book!

Just finished another ARC.
Forever Yours on Christmas Eve by Brooke Burton and this was such a cute, heartfelt holiday novella with a touch of military romance. The story starts with both characters ending up at the same bar on Christmas Eve while trying to escape completely different things. Instead, they find comfort in each other.

The novella spans about two years, following their pact to meet back at the same bar every Christmas Eve. You can feel the attraction between them right away, but with him preparing to deploy and her away at school, long distance just isn’t realistic. Their yearly meet-up becomes something they both look forward to a check-in, a moment of connection, and eventually a real date.

When life gets heavier and her dad becomes sick, she can’t make it back to Maine for their tradition. But he shows up anyway, surprising her by traveling all the way to her home so they can spend Christmas Eve together. It was such a sweet moment and kept their tradition alive.

This novella had happy moments, sad moments, and a cozy emotional through-line. It was a very quick read but still gave enough warmth and connection to feel satisfying.

Kelsey meets Sev at a bar on Christmas Ever the day she is trying on wedding dresses and finds out her finance is cheating. The two hit it off right away and have the best chemistry. He shows her what a “correct” date should be like and they just enjoy each other’s company. They don’t want the night to end, so they decide to make a pack and meet back again in one year on Christmas Eve.

This story takes place over two years. The two exchange numbers and text each other to get to know one another when Sev can as he is deployed. The next year comes and they meet up again on Christmas Eve. Sparks are flying and feelings are starting to form between the two. They agree to meet again the next Christmas and continue to video chat and text. This next year is hard on Kelsey and Sev is always there for her. The two are falling hard for each other even though they have barely been together and haven’t labeled anything.

This story is sweet, it’s beautiful, it’s pure, and it melted my heart. Sev shows her the kind of man she deserves and what a real man is.

I loved alot of the other books that I have read by this author, so I wanted to read this one as well. Its a short and sweet novella. I really liked it, The main characters end up at the same bar, trying to get away from everything that has been going on in their lives Kelsey in her wedding dress after breaking up with her cheating Fianace and Sev who is just days from leaving for deployment with the Navy. Two different people just looking to let go of their grief, then they happen to find each other neither of them looking for anything, but a friendship forms. Where will that lead? Over all It was a good book, just as the rest of her books this one was written very well , she is a talented author, I just didint like this one as much as the previous reads of hers the story itself fell flat for me, but still a good read. She is a tremendously talented author and i look forward to reading more of her books.

Sweet and realistic love story between Sev and Kelsey, who met in a hometown bar on the outskirts of their hometown. Sev was there to have some private and down time to himself before heading out on his next naval mission. Kelsey was there as she’s run away from her final dress fitting with gown on after seeing stories of her fiancé all over the internet with his girlfriend. While in the bar her ignorant fiancé, Chip, stormed thru the doors to bring her back. It was nice to see how Sev maneuvered her past this arrogant guy.

Kelsey’s father, a 2 star Admiral in the Navy, was a great character and father to Kelsey and personally liked his motto, ‘ start from where you’re at’. Watching this young, and made for each couple, struggle with their long distance romance was inspiring and sweet with enough challenges to make their relationship realistic.

I received an early, free copy and am giving my honest, free and voluntary review.

This book is a warm, enchanting holiday romance that begins with a runaway bride walking into a bar and colliding with a sailor who never expected his night to turn into a life-changing moment. Kelsey—heartbroken but brave—meets Sev at exactly the wrong and right time, creating a spark that feels natural, tender, and quietly powerful. Their instant chemistry is wrapped in vulnerability, humor, and the soft ache of two people trying to figure out their lives while fate nudges them closer.

What makes this story stand out is how their connection grows over time instead of rushing toward predictability. Across miles, navy duties, and complicated families, Kelsey and Sev continue finding each other in ways that feel comforting yet realistic. The emotional depth, the holiday warmth, and the gentle push-and-pull of their bond make this novella feel like a cup of hot chocolate on a cold night—sweet, soothing, and impossible not to smile at by the end.

3.75 STARS - ROUNDED UP

Simple sweet story where I felt the beginning was strong and then pacing slowed a little at times. Somewhat like the old movie SAME TIME NEXT YEAR, but neither are married, but they meet on Christmas Eve for a couple of years.

I liked how they met and they seemed comfortable with each other from the start. The h's ex had a small part in the beginning, and I wanted to know did he just give up? Romance builds slowly through letters they send to each other.

Some emotional moments with the h's father. I did like the relationship she had with her dad.

No cheating for our MC, the h's ex cheated but off page, HEA, some romance and clean with only kisses. I can't improve on the blurb, just giving you extra tidbits to decide whether to purchase.

I received ARC and all opinions are my own and freely given. (ljb)

Forever Yours On Christmas Eve is part of the Military Kisses Series.

This is a really cute story about two people defying the odds and finding each other one Christmas Eve and returning to the same place the next year to see if the spark is still there. Kelsey and Sev have an instant connection together, but Kelsey has just gotten out of a relationship and needs more time for her life to settle. Sev is being deployed and they agree to keep in contact with each other and see if they held up to their promise to each other and see where they can go. I enjoyed seeing a friendship form between these two characters over the course of their messaging.

This was a sweet and endearing love story that began as a great friendship for two people who just needed someone to be there for them while trying to progress their lives.

This was such a sweet, heartwarming holiday novella. Honestly, I wouldn’t have complained if it was a full length novel, and was bummed when it ended.

Right from the beginning, Sev was a walking green flag and this man was swoonworthy! Their progression from strangers, to friends, to something more was a beautiful reminder of how sometimes timing may not be right, but having patience can lead to something beautiful. However, every moment they had together, the chemistry was radiating off the pages and their banter and growth truly had my heart in a tight grip. Neither made the other give up any part of their life, but created space to grow, knowing if it was meant to be, then it would be.

I highly recommend adding to your holiday TBR! I appreciate the opportunity to have received an advance copy and my review is honest and voluntary.

Sev the sailor happens upon Kelsey running away from her wedding day ,a chance encounter it maybe . But could it be forever maybe? The same bar on a snowy Christmas Eve,both wanting to get away just for a while . He makes her smile and she does him and things don’t seem so grim. He’s days from deploying with the Navy and not wanting to bring down his family’s Christmas cheer.shes still in her wedding dress. She’s a mess but a ride on this guys motorbike helps let her hair down and suddenly she doesn’t seem so down.Suggesting a pact to be there for each other the same time next year to keep up to date . Find out how they’re getting on and vowing that they will survive what’s thrown at them and make each accountable too . But then it’s almost as he does woo and she doesn’t know what to do to find him when something happens she’s not wanting to keep away but she may just lose him forever . A piece of her heart is astray so she must try in a do or die situation . She’s action stations and betting with her heart . Do they lose one another friendship because one of them fell in love or have they found a happily ever after to be sure if. Brooke Burton delighted with this it’s absolute bliss.

Forever Yours on Christmas Eve is a warm, heartfelt novella that delivers exactly what you want in a cozy holiday romance. Kelsey and Sev’s story unfolds over years of Christmas Eve meet ups and I really enjoyed watching their connection grow from an unexpected encounter into something steady, sweet and meaningful.

Even though it’s fast paced, it never feels like insta love, the distance, the timing and the quiet moments make their bond feel earned. The military aspect is present but not overwhelming, keeping the focus on emotion, growth and finding love right when life feels messy.

It’s a closed door read, but still full of charm, tenderness and that perfect holiday glow.

If you’re in the mood for a quick Christmas story that blends hope, healing and a little magic, this one is a lovely pick.

Thank you Brooke and Happily Booked PR for this arc! ✨

This was a sweet Christmas novella about jilted bride, Kelsey and a military stranger, Sev. They meet in a bar when Kels fiancé is caught cheating on her and she runs out from her dress fitting in her wedding dress. As soon as he sees her he’s fallen head over heels for her. They get to talking and make a pact to meet up every year for Christmas in this little harbor town.

I loved the way their relationship progressed. They kept each other accountable and sane as they went through 2 years of long distance and deployments, college and sick parents.

This was sweet little emotional novella that is centered around Christmas. Read this when in need of a cute but emotional HEA. 🥹✨

I love all things Brooke Burton, and this does not disappoint; this is part of The Military Kisses series. Kelsey is trying on her wedding dress for her upcoming wedding, and finds out online that her fiance is cheating on her. She runs out of the store still in the wedding dress, and goes to a run down bar "Second Call." Their is only a handful of people there. Sitting nearby is Sev, who is in the Navy deploying soon. They get to talking and have much in common. They agree to meetup every year at Second Call. Between texts, calls and facetime; they get closer. An amazing story of second chances. Love the plot, great setting, and strong intense interesting characters. I look forward to reading more from Ms. Brooke Burton!!!

Hello, people!
Christmas is approaching and the suggestions for books with such themes are increasing.
So, I, too, come to you with a new review that will flood your heart with emotions. Through the story, the reader will experience various emotions such as anger, joy, sadness, happiness, love, affection, etc. At the same time, the relatively short chapters allow the book to be read without breathing and the reader not to lose interest. This is also contributed by the fact that there are alternations between the POVs, namely Kelsey and Sev.
Finally, the author's writing is full, tender, romantic, warm, touching and in some cases melancholic. The last one in particular stole my heart.

Thank you very much to the author and Happily Booked PR for the eARC!

This is my honest review!

Six stars if I could. This was the sweetest holiday escape and exactly the kind of story that wraps around you like a warm blanket. I loved the way the connection unfolded between them, soft and steady but full of those little sparks that make you grin at your screen. Their chemistry felt natural, their moments together felt earned, and by the time I reached the end, I was all in.

The pacing was perfect, the romance was tender in all the right ways, and the epilogue truly closed everything with the most perfect final note. It left me smiling and feeling full. A new favorite holiday read for sure.

Insta love is not a favorite of mine. But military is. I signed up for this ARC for something light to get me into the holiday spirits.

This was well written. The writing style shows real promise and I can tell the author put a lot of work into her story and what she was saying. For my personal liking, I found the MFC to be too insecure. She seemed to flip back and forth. Her commitment to her father was endearing.

Sev was wonderful.

This was cheesy in a lot of ways which one would expect for a sappy romance book. Overall I didn't hate it...but it's far from being one of my top romance reads of the year.

I appreciate the ARC and this was my honest review.

- Sweet romance

This quick read was the perfect swoon worthy book for the holiday season. Kelsey and Sev meet one Christmas Eve after Kelsey learns her fiance has been seeing another woman. The two connect and enjoy an evening talking. However, Sev is being deployed soon and Kelsey is only in town for the holidays, so they exchange numbers and go their own ways.

They keep in contact, even planning on meeting in the same spot the next Christmas Eve. By this time, the feelings are getting quite real for Sev, but he isn't sure how Kelsey feels.

The story is sweet and emotional, perfect for a lazy afternoon.
