Jordan L. Hawk is a trans author from North Carolina. Childhood tales of mountain ghosts and mysterious creatures gave him a life-long love of things that go bump in the night. When he isn’t writing, he brews his own beer and tries to keep the cats from destroying the house. His best-selling Whyborne & Griffin series (beginning with Widdershins) can be found in print, ebook, and audiobook.
This 8 page Whyborne & Griffin treat did its job - if its job was to make me exceedingly happy (which I like to assume it was).
I cannot put into words how strong my adoration is for these two men. They will forever be an absolute favourite book couple of mine, as is only right.
A WHYBORNE & GRIFFIN FREE CHRISTMAS SHORT STORY. SQUEE!!!
Yep, very cute, VERY ADORABLE!! See, Griffin sets Whyborne to 'a Christmas chase' as he prepares a surprise for his beloved.
Just by reading the first few sentences, I could feel my mood elevated.
Something terrible has happened. Your Christmas present and I have been kidnapped! I hope to outwit our captor long enough to leave a trail for you to follow. I shall drop the first clue near where you kissed me amidst fire and snow.
Of course Whyborne became all grouchy even if he followed the clues from the more playful Griffin at this merry time of the year. It had a charming chasing clues game, it had LOVE notes, it had snowball fights (although NOT between our two main characters), it had Christmas trees and candles, AND it had the most perfect Christmas presents that Griffin could give Whyborne.
My heart burst with happiness and joy. It was so frickin' romantic and just a perfect kind of Christmas read.
MERRY CHRISTMAS WHYBORNE AND GRIFFIN!!
PS: Since this is set after book 5, there are tiny spoilers about what happened in book 5. Just so you wouldn't be surprised.
I don’t know how, but I would’ve missed it again while rereading the series. How’s that for being consistent? Luckily, this time I had (a few) someone(s) to remind me in time. ------- Original review in 2017:
I don’t know how, but I missed this while I was reading the series. The first Christmas together for Whyborne and Griffin after in Bloodline. A little silly, a little sweet and very cute.
This is a short - very short - story set during the Christmas after Bloodlines. Griffin sends Whyborne on a scavenger hunt and it's nothing but five minutes of pure fluff. I adored every second of it
Oh Griffin, how do I love thee? Let me count the ways... Protective and possessive. Loyal and courageous. Passion fueled and tender. And "Ival smitten" to the core.
You're one lucky gent, my dear Whyborne. Lucky indeed.
This was just a short sweet Christmas story about Whyborne and Griffin and is set after the events of Bloodline. Was it a 5 star read, probably not but it's Christmas and Whyborne and Griffin and I'm still on my sweet book buzz from Bloodline...so 5 stars it is. It was like the icing on the cake and who doesn't love yummy, fluffy, sweet, creamy good frosting?
A note that Whyborne finds from Griffin when he gets home leads him to revisit some of the places and people from the past. The highlight of the evening is what is waiting in the end.
I seriously don't think my heart can handle loving these two anymore than I already do. This is incredibly sweet. I just can't even. Griffin. Oh Griffin. Such a sweet, sweet man. 5 Hearts for this short treat that's made me smile.
3.9 Stars - Adorable mini from a snowy Widdershins
Book #5.5
A free mini shortie at Hawk's website. It is Christmas time and our friends first time to create their own traditions . Simply perfect. ~ Thanks Ms. Hawk!
I gazed down at him, trying to express through my eyes all that I felt but couldn’t find the right words to say. From the tender look on his face, I succeeded.
I will read this every year before Christmas from now on. So lovely!
A sweet short about how Whyborne and Griffin spent their Christmas together. This story wasn't in Griffin's POV this time, but since Whyborne was getting a surprise it made sense that the story was told from Whyborne's perspective.
This short was really.. short. It had potential for a much better story had it been longer, and the "adventure" that Griffin sent Whyborne on seemed rather pointless, because it hardly provided any form of build up to the ending. Lastly, where the heck was Whyborne's Christmas present for Griffin?!
What a lovely treat! A beautiful short peek at Christmas with Whyborne and Griffin in Widdershins. Cute and funny with a Christmas mystery that leads to a sweet surprise :) I LOVE these two. My favorite line - "Even inside my own head, that sounded insane." LOVE LOVE LOVE this whole series :)
Have I read this before? I feel like I have, but maybe I missed it before. I don't know. But Whyborne and Griffin are so cute! Always! Including here! Ahh!
Piccola, deliziosa cosetta di Natale in cui Whyborne percorre la città e i punti salienti della sua storia con Griffin, mentre segue i dettagli di una strana caccia al tesoro.
This was so damn cute!! In this holiday short, Griffin sends Whyborne out on a chase to find him and his Christmas present by follow clues Griffin has left behind. Of course Whyborne huffs in exasperation at his lovers antics but ultimately follows the trail of clues and love notes to places that are special to the couple for one reason or another.
HE FOLLOWS TRAIL OF LOVE NOTES!! How can it get any more adorable??
Griffin is so precious and romantic...his little love notes to Whyborne had me squealing like a schoolgirl in delight. This novella is a wonderful addition to this series.
Sort of references most of the series so only read after Bloodline Whyborne Griffin 5. It's a short little treat that gives a glimpse into Griifin's Christmas present to Percival by way of a nostalgic treasure hunt - hence the spoiler aspect. It was nice and it was free so go ahead and read it if you love the series. . . or even just like the series!
