Echo Kane doesn’t make mistakes. As the merciless head of Catalyst, his job is dismantle the Romanov legacy, one corpse at a time. But when Katya Romanov ends up in his hands, defiant, dangerous, and sin wrapped in skin, his carefully built world begins to crack.
She’s the daughter of his sworn enemy. She’s leverage. A means to an end.
So why does he want to taste her screams? Why does he dream of her begging, not for freedom, but for more?
Katya is no innocent. Raised in the shadows of blood and betrayal, she’s been trained to survive men like Echo. But no one warned her what it would feel like to be claimed by him. To ache for the same hands that bruise. To crave the same mouth that lies.
As obsession smolders into something darker, neither of them can tell where hate ends and hunger begins. Loyalties fracture. Bodies fall. And in a world where every character bleeds morally grey, love isn’t salvation, it’s a war.
In the third installment of Katerina St Clair’s Shadows of Darkness universe, Devil’s Nightis a dark romance soaked in desire, deception, and the kind of heat that scorches more than skin.
Katerina St Clair is an international best-selling author of fantasy, dark romance, and dystopian stories. Her books are filled with unforgettable characters, gripping twists, and the kind of storytelling that keeps fans coming back for more. Writing is her way of bringing new worlds to life and sharing them with readers who love finding an escape.
The beginning of the book had me hooked, but I quickly lost interest around halfway through. It was mostly smut that felt very repetitive. I felt like I was reading the same scene over and over again. The main characters seemed interesting at first but didn't have a lot of development. None of these characters communicated at all, and things felt inconsistent. At 85%, I stopped caring about the characters at all.
If you’re the kind of reader that reads trigger warnings like a menu, I fear this one may be for you 😏 this is the darkest, and spiciest, so far in this universe
We have Echo who runs an underground organization aimed at taking out criminals. His plan to take down the biggest one? Abduct the daughter of the family to bring them to their knees.
This is one of those books that makes you question what you’re into? Like… this isn’t right, and I shouldn’t be into it, but it’s hot…
Katya is an absolute badass FMC. And I am a SUCKER for characters with trauma 😩
Cliffhanger is diabolical, Katerina… but I told you this xx
DNF… not for me, very disappointed:( no plot besides kidnapping FMC and spice. and spice made me very uncomfortable. Ugh… I just want a morally grey man who won’t give me the ick lol.
First off THANK YOU Katerina for sending this to me as an ARC. I am beyond grateful to be part of your journey!! 💌✨
Now to the review:
…hello SPICE!! 🌶️🌶️🌶️ It’s been a minute since I’ve read something this spicy, but this book woke my ovaries up and sent them into overdrive 😮💨🔥 That 30-page spicy session?? I was locked tf in. Mentally, I think I phased somewhere else and I’m still trying to figure out how to get back there 😂
I absolutely loved Echo’s character, and I was so anxious to meet him after the ending of Teacher’s Pet. But honestly, Katya stole the show for me 👑 I really hope the next book dives even deeper into her because she has so much depth.
The writing? Absolutely stunning. ✨ Katerina always writes beautifully, but something about this one felt extra rich, almost poetic. I highlighted so many lines.
And THE ENDING… I was gasping. Like, excuse me?? Who tf, what tf, WHY tf 😭 I need answers immediately.
Just a heads up: go into this book prepared. You may discover new kinks 👀 (seriously read the trigger warnings), and know that this one is very romance-forward in the best way possible.
Vibes: 🦋 yes he’s my captor but like…he’s hot 🫦 🦋 ballerina baby (but she’ll stab you) 🔪 🦋 he’s OBSESSIVE & POSSESSIVE 😈 🦋 ✊🏻 (you’ll get it when you read 👀) 🦋 mafia power plays 🖤
this book was actually really fun to read. i’m gonna be honest, i went into this book just for the smut but i stayed for the plot. it was a really good read, fast-paced, with a writing style that kept me engaged and characters that were strong and memorable.
i haven’t read the first two books in the series (this one works as a standalone), but i still really enjoyed it.
and that ending, hello??? the audacity to leave us on a cliffhanger. i wanted my babies echo and katya to live a happy, peaceful life, but now the ending has me feeling so uncertain about what’s next for them.
i can’t wait for the next book, i’m definitely looking forward to more smut and a killer storyline.
I couldn't believe I was crushed out for this book. Literally, the first part of the book was good, I mean her father built an empire for trafficking children, and he was the one who saved those children. And he captured her to torture her because of her father's actions but guess what? They had sex for fuck's sake I mean it was really good instruction and the good reason to be enemies but!!!! They just had sex and barely know each other and she feels for him I mean girl. It was the part when they danced and practiced like those who actually practice to be honey trapped this could be good if the writer uses her brain cells to continue something good but didn't those at least the first two books have some plot? Actually, they couldn't even keep their things in their pants, but I know you don't want to leave the bed for god's sake. I mean they actually really destroyed the empire in one second but they couldn't leave the bed I was skimming this book I barely opened the Epub to see what was actually happening I'm so mad and I wish I had left this book from the teacher's pet book. By far the worst book I have ever read what's the point of writing only smut with the barley plot? Bruh goes into their cult like it's something so easy like a piece of cake without even the explanation that there are a lot of bugs in this series and I could just name them all And let me tell you zero character development I mean the FMC barely could pull her pants up and she suddenly became badass from the innocent girl who could kill all the men and end her family's bloodline. Hahahaha

This one landed at more of a 3.5 star read for me. While I really enjoyed the first two books in the series, this installment felt like it was missing some of the intensity, action, and layered plot that drew me in before. Nearly half of the story focused on smut which isn’t necessarily a bad thing but I found myself wishing for more storyline and high stakes tension like in the earlier books. The pacing between the main characters also felt rushed with them jumping into each other’s arms faster than I expected.
I also noticed a small continuity issue that threw me off. In Teacher’s Pet, Rowan is mentioned as having one daughter when Echo calls, but in Devil’s Night he suddenly has two. It’s a minor detail, but it made me pause.
That said, I was still glad to finally get Echo’s story. He was supposed to break Katya, not crave her. And yet, the push and pull dynamic between them is undeniably gripping.
Echo Kane doesn’t make mistakes. As the merciless head of Catalyst, his mission is simple: dismantle the Romanov legacy, one body at a time. But when Katya Romanov, his sworn enemy’s daughter, falls into his hands defiant and dangerous, she becomes more than leverage. She becomes temptation.
Katya, raised in shadows and betrayal, knows how to survive men like Echo. But nothing could prepare her for what it feels like to be claimed by him, to ache for the same hands that bruise and crave the same mouth that lies.
As hate blurs into hunger, loyalties fracture, obsession smolders, and their war burns hotter than any promise of salvation.
Overall, Devil’s Night is a dark, desire driven chapter in Katerina St. Clair’s Shadows of Darkness universe. It is intense, messy, morally grey, and scorching. While I wished for more plot and balance, it still delivered Echo’s long awaited dangerous love story.

Here are some of my quotes that stayed deep within my bones.💋🖤
“Your fear, is my addiction, Little Butterfly.” ~Echo Kane.💋🖤
“And for the first time since this began, she lets herself fall, safe in wreckage, safe in the arms of the man who broke her.” ~Echo Kane.
“You’re mine. And I’m going to remind you exactly what that means.” And god help me, I want every brutal, beautiful second of it.” ~Katya Romanov.♥️
“He smiles. A cruel delicious thing. One that makes my thighs clench and my shame coil tighter around my spine, twisting something darker. Dirtier. Needier.” ~Katya Romanov.♥️
“He said it like a knife. Like a noose. Like a curse meant for both us. Love. Not obsession. Not control. Not possession. Love.” ~Katya Romanov.♥️
“You’re mine, Little Butterfly.” ~Echo Kane.💋🖤
“His love isn’t soft. It isn’t wrapped in safety or tied with a ribbon. It’s fucking violent. It comes with blood and bruises and graves. And he gave it to me. I reach up, fingers brushing the scar on my waist. It doesn’t feel like ownership anymore. It feels like a promise.” ~Katya Romanov.♥️
“But she’s mine. And if I have to offer myself, if I have to bleed for her, kill for her, burn for her, I’ll do it without hesitation.” ~Echo Kane.”
“I’ll be their monster. Their blade. Their fucking slave if that’s what it takes to keep her untouched by their poison. I’ll kneel. I’ll bleed. I’ll strip myself of every last shred of pride if it means Katya never learns what it feels like to be fed from.” ~Echo Kane.💋🖤
“Crawl to the door.” ~Echo Kane.💋🖤 THIS MAN.⁉️⁉️⁉️🧎🏻♀️🧎🏻♀️
“My knees buckle, and still, I nod. Because I’m already his. And maybe I always was. I’m a mess beneath him. Wrecked. Ruined. Worshipped.” ~Katya Romanov.♥️
“I’m in love. There’s a difference.” ~Echo Kane.🖤💋
I am very honored to receive this arc. I’ve been craving to read Echo’s story. That sexy, fine ass man knew what he was doing. And I knew I was going to enjoy, devour this story.🥴💋 God, I swear this book is filled with dirty, sexy filth.💋🖤 This book is the darkest out of all the series. And I swear to you that I was on the edge of my seat, clawing, screaming at my blankets. I finished this book in one night, I had time to process, I was devastated when the story was over. I’D CRAWL FOR THIS MAN.💋🧎🏻♀️ The character development in this story⁉️⁉️ Off the charts. The action was perfect. The spice? Don’t even get me started.🥴 I was drooling, giggling and kicking my feet. THE NICKNAMES.🧎🏻♀️💋 My standards raised higher now. I had so much fun reading this book, the plot was there, the hunger, the addiction, the obsession, the tension between all of these characters were endless. I highly recommend reading this story, especially if you love a man addicted, & on his knees.😏 We love a man who would kill for his woman. Every word this man said is tattooed to my skin.🗣️‼️💋🖤
Thank you Kat for making me drool over another man.💋🖤 (not that I was already desperately aching for this man.🌚) These characters will forever hold a special place in my heart. THANK BABES, I CAN’T WAIT FOR WHAT YOU HAVE NEXT.💋💋💋♥️♥️
Anyone who knows me knows I adore Katerina St. Clair and her Shadows of Darkness series. Roman and Briar will forever be my OTP, so naturally, I dove into Devil’s Night the second I got my hands on it. While this one was spicy as all hell, it did miss the mark slightly for me on the plot side.
Devil’s Night follows the sinful, assassin Echo Kane, who kidnaps and becomes dangerously obsessed with his enemy’s mafia princess, Katya. The beginning had me hooked - dark, intense, and full of that deliciously toxic energy Katerina writes so well. Echo’s obsession and possessiveness were next-level, and I was absolutely here for it.
Unfortunately, the story lost me a bit after the time jump. I struggled to get a full sense of Katya’s character. She felt a little underdeveloped, and I couldn’t quite connect to her the way I did with the previous heroines. It almost felt like there was missing backstory that could have given her more emotional depth. The good news is, things pick up again around the 70% mark, and by the end, I was fully reinvested in their twisted, magnetic dynamic.
While this instalment felt messier than the first two (which were immediate five-star reads for me), it still delivered on intensity, heat, and that signature Katerina chaos we all love. And honestly, the promise of more Echo and Katya in the next book has me beyond excited.
Devil's Night is a perfect little dark romance that bleeds red like a ledger!
It's Echo's turn and his source of obsession and dark fantasies? Katya Romanov. The very Romanov family that is his to dismantle and burn to the ground and along with it the labyrinth that feeds the monsters he's intended to destroy. His mission becomes blurred when he develops an all consuming obsession with Katya as they are both monsters by design, they operate violently on a macabre morality. Both desensitized to the life of underground, organized crime and bloodshed. Katya was raised on blood and betrayal, she was bred to survive - surely could survive Echo right? Or is it the other way around?
Action packed with a morally grey MMC and FMC that are deeply flawed, together they weaponize the powerhouse of Catalyst and Katyas first hand knowledge of her family's syndicate. You'll experience the complex nature of corruption and psychological control that breeds compliance and survival; forced proximity, enemies to lovers, captor x hostage, tension, extreme possessiveness, fight for power/control, mafia/organized crime and a brutal family business/legacy make up this cut throat, complex and erotic novel!
This book is a great spin on a character in this series that has typically a small role.
This goes into the story of Echo Kane and feels like the perfect book for everything we know about him so far.
He has such a character development from ruthless agent to devoted lover. Even Katya has a good character development learning to love after life had treated her like dirt.
They both also gave me such John Wick vibes its hard not to love the subject and characters.
The only thing I wasn't totally in love with is that (for me personally) it felt like a little too much smut so I did lose interest at times and got tired of reading about it after the first few orgasms every time they had sex. The initial sex scenes were fantastic spice though so it might just be more of a personal preference. But if you love lots of wild sex youre gonna love this book!
I was hoping for more of a mystery like the last 2 books but I was excited to see a mystery at the very end of the book to get me excited for the next book. There truly is never a happy ending in this series without a catch is there?
All in all I enjoyed this book and cant wait for the next!

I honestly needed a minute to collect myself because what the effing f is this cliffhanger of an ending??? EXCUSE ME MA’AM?
If I tell you I folded like a pancake for this man. No jokes. It’s always the quiet ones in the shadows.
Echo fucking Kane. The man that you are. The man that you became. I don’t understand the negative reviews about this series in general but ESPECIALLY this one.
It all starts as her being the pawn in all this but he falls pretty fast and hard for our girl Katya who is a fucking BADDIE by the way. I think their demons play well together. It was top tier power play up until it was much more than that.
I loved seeing little bits of our main men Roman and Noah in this as well. I ate that shit up and left no crumbs.
Check your trigger warnings because there are some HEAVY topics in this book involving children.
The artwork in this series is… I don’t have the words really. Beautiful is too mediocre. It’s an experience.
If anyone could actually tell me where and when I can read the next book about Echo and Katya that’d be highly appreciated because I need it more than my next breath at this point.
I have no words! I think this is my favorite one of the series. We first met Echo in the first book and this time we got to know him. This man is truly unhinged and he has met his match in Katya. This girl has been raised in crazy. Once these two meet you can feel the heat immediately. Echo decided she was his and he was keeping her. Katya tried to fight it but she knew the truth and accepted it. They have a magnetic connection. They are almost in awe of each other at certain times. Katya is no timid girl she is power and lets you know it. You can feel the emotions they have coming out the book. And the spice is top notch all I’m going to say about that is chapter 25 IYKYK! I definitely needed a cool drink. This story has been building up since the first book and we got to see it through, unless there is more in the next book. Now miss mamas Katerina what was that ending? I was looking at the percentage left and reading what’s going on and think there ain’t no way she is about to leave us high and dry like that. I’m shooketh, I need more immediately! All I know is Echo is about cause some damage.
Spicy Spicy Spicy 🌶️ Out of The Shadows of Darkness Universe, Devil’s Night took the spice to a whole new level.
This book follows Echo Kane, a character we should all be familiar with by now. He is a Dom through and through, but in this book we get to see him develop into one of my FAVORITE mmcs and also experience a softer side to him.
Throughout this book we do get sprinkles of our favorite bad ass Priest and sexy Teacher, but the focus is on Echo and the world he has built.
If you ended Teachers Pet wondering WTF JUST HAPPENED, just hold onto your britches, because you will come across that moment and get all of your answers.
The FMC of this book…3 words Russian Assassin Ballerina If you don’t love her as much as I do, I will be questioning our friendship.
This book brings you secret societies, rituals, spice, touch her and die, strong female characters, deception, torture, unexpected love, and all around pure badassery.
“We are not lovers. We are not enemies. We are two ends of the same weapon.”
WOW! First off, I got this book as an ARC and I couldn’t be more grateful! I was lucky enough to also be an ARC reader for Teacher’s Pet (which a part of this interconnected standalone series) and I LOVED IT and I LOVED this one too!!! This book is a DARK romance, true enemies to lovers, and has you breaking for the mmc. Echo’s story and inner monologue was one of my favorite things about this entire book! It was deep and so well written - it had me highlighting every thing that man thought, said, and did. The complexity of the characters was so well done and the choices they had to make had me on edge!! Katya is a FANTASTIC morally grey fmc and her story was HEARTBREAKING but she is such a bada** character!!!! Also the playlist? the character art????? perfection!!!!! This book is SPICYYYYY🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️ Be sure to read your trigger warnings and if you aren’t down for kinky, spicy, and a dark story plot… then maybe sit this one out. BUT if this is right up your alley, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND! As well as the other books with are Teacher’s Pet and Forgive Me Father!
Kat Kat Kat!!! What a ride 😮💨🔥 would I let Echo completely ruin me? Yes, yes, I would.
Echo is known as the last thing you see before you take a dirt nap if you've been up to shady things. His the judge and executioner. He's been slowly breaking down the Romanov empire, taking the son of the head of the Romanovs. There's only one heir left, Katya and Echo plans to send another message by breaking her.
Echo only delivers pain to those in the underground and he's believed Katya of knowing all that goes only. But soon Echo learns of her scars and realizes she's not privy to all that her family's done. She's been in a prison of her own.
Katya is beautiful and strong. Even though Echo breaks her down something else awakens in her. And her demons dance with his.
First of all, Katerina, thank you SO MUCH for allowing me to ARC read this for you!!!! . . . ALRIGHT, let's talk about it. Devil's Night was a wild and SPICY ride from beginning to end. Katerina has a way of grabbing you by the throat and pulling you into what's happening on the page. The writing in this book was absolutely GORGEOUS. It was so deep and beautiful, it read like poetry. She describes things in such depth and detail, and I greatly appreciate that as a reader! This book is gorgeous and esthetically dark and deep. HOWEVER. The spice?!?!?! Good. Lord. Echo is the man. He knows what he wants, and he TAKES. IT. And he wants Katya 🤭🤭🤭 Devil's Night is very spice forward, and it often takes the main stage (not that I mind 😏). A modern day Romeo and Juliet meets Robin Hood, I have enjoyed this series from beginning to end 💚 But Echo and Katya were the perfect bada** couple I wanted to see them be! I truly enjoyed ending the series on their story!
the plot is fighting for it's life here. And it had great potential to actually have a good plot, fighting empires and ploting their enemies demise, desmantle human trafficking ring, etc etc. But the characters barely talked, every single interaction between the MCs turned into spice. They talked and plotted a little at the very end, but not enough to erase the fact that the plot was left aside here. So were the character's development. We had glimpses of their personalities and motivations but everything was put on the background to give space to spice at all times.. Seriously, after a while I was like "AGAIN???!". kinda disappointing
And after barely digging into the plot the whole book, it decides to end with a cliffhanger? Are you serious? It makes no sense.
Also, is the FMC a trained killer or not? she is taken by surprise and doesn't fight back so many times that honestly she seems like a regular person, not someone trained to kill and fight.
4.5/5 💙 Thank you again for the opportunity to read this ARC for Devils Night. I was so excited to learn more about Echo Kane and his story after finishing Teachers Pet. I think the book started off very strong with a good open and good characters, I liked the story development. I think what made forgive me father the best one in my opinion was the buildup between the characters, the pining, the slow burn almost. I think some more tension and maybe a few less spicy scenes would have made it a bit more engaging. Overall though I thought it was a great edition to the saga! I missed Roman, Noah and Ana - it was so nice to see those characters again badass Ana still kicking ass! ( I did miss Eden tho 😭) that ending?…I cannot wait to find out more about Echo‘s past! And see him burn the world to save his woman. 🔥🔥🔥
Thank you so much to Katerina St Clair for the ARC of Devil’s Night! I’m honored to have had the chance to dive into this world early and share my honest thoughts.
This book made me feel all sorts of things—the spice, the tension, the way the interconnected world pulls you in, and that cliffhanger ending that leaves you immediately craving the next installment.
Tropes • Captor x captive • Rival families • Stockholm syndrome
If you’re a fan of these tropes, you’re in for a ride. The MMC is unapologetically possessive and not afraid to show it. The plotline also seamlessly blends rivalry, corruption, and power struggles with family dynamics, past experiences, and strained relationships.
I cannot wait to see where the series goes from here!
Alright.... What was that?!?! That ending?! Like after everything with Echo and Katya?! This book will have you in an absolute chokehold. I have been reading this entire series for a while now and bought all 3 to keep and obviously to reread. This is a love story kind of. It is toxic and messy and oh so delicious. Katerina St. Clair knows how to write such amazing stories. The only reason it wasn't 5 stars for me was because of the word reverent. I swear if I read it once I read it 100 times in this book. That is my ONLY issue. Everything flawless, a masterpiece. Now excuse me while I deal with a book hangover that this book has sent me into. How do you move on when that cliffhanger is fresh?
GOD THIS BOOK!!!! jesus christ and I thought that the other two were crazy and taboo but god damn this was even more insane!!! GOD DAMN ECHO KANE!!! that man does not know the meaning of sane and I love it, bro kidnapped her and they both pretty much stockholmed each other into being in love! they were adorable tho and I loved every moment of this, this book was literally the reason that I read the other two books. Also how dare you Katerina St. Clair for making me read the others for this book for it not to even be out yet, and then it does come out and I get left on that clif hanger not knowing when the second book comes out!!!!!!
Not gonna lie… this wasn’t my favorite in the series, but it was still a solid read 👀🔥 I did feel like some parts got a little repetitive—especially during certain spicy scenes (had me rereading a chapter like wait, did I miss something? 😂).
BUT… the characters? Loved them. 🙌 Echo might just be the darkest of the three men, and Katya’s growth + the power she unleashes had me hooked. 🖤 The dark themes are consistent, and even though it ended on a cliffhanger (ugh 😩), I’m beyond excited for what’s coming next! 📚
👉 If you’re into dark romance, this one definitely keeps the vibes going.
Again looked myself in the mirror and called myself a Wh*re (sebastan stan meme) no because. why did I like this. I mean Echo had a plan to kidnap her and use her but he had other things going on like below the belt line and my goodness the spicy scenes were giving . The spicy scenes were like a whole 20 pages and had me blushing every turn and I discovered things that I didn’t know I need this in my life (minus the kipnapping and torture). Katsya when she locked him she probably felt like a girl boss because I would be bragging the shizz out of it. WE go left on a cliff hanger so we weill see what going to happen in their story next.
