Emma is drawn back into time to an old inn in a picture, where she finds a brutal man, wicked sisters, and a starved and bullied waif who needs her help.
I was in my middle school library when I came across this book. I was immediately drawn in by the curious cover. The book's story was set in a dusty old curiosity shop and it helped that the book smelled like it too, but this book transported me to where the young girl in the story was. It allowed for imagination. It was a good, deep read for a middle schooler.
