The first issue didn’t exactly grab me at the start, but by the end of the issue I was intrigued enough (and with this being a weekly and fairly short series) to keep going…and this issue has made sure I’m not to be disappointed! From the taste at the end of the first issue, this story is really coming into its own. The violence is top notch and the jokes are really finding their grove and hitting well to create an enjoyable time. I’ve been watching avatar the last airbender for the first time, so seeing the little kid with tattoos they call the conduit I immediately thought of Aang. As Ivy and Selina debated on releasing the child from it’s cage, unsure of what power out possesses, Harley decided to take the proactive, and arguably better, approach by walking up and talking to the kid. She asked if he is the conduit and if he wants out, both questions answered by a head nod. So of course Harley is a good host and decided to oblige by smashing open his cage, welcome to freedom. I think it’s adorable that he immediately holds onto Harley’s hands, but the moment is immediately ruined by Despero and his legion of three eyed cultists, human cultists, and small red creatures stand at his side as he promises to kill them all. The sirens have never encountered him before and weren’t really listening during his introduction speech, lol, so they aren’t exactly sure why they should be scared of Desperado. But as he enters their minds and berates them with psychic attacks, they quickly learn why. The conduit is forced to go back to the side of despero, which appears to be very unwillingly, as despero claims he is a tool to liberate humans from humanity. But despero is not done with the sirens, he does not simply throw anything away and wants to keep them around and use them. Good for is as the sirens won’t go down that easy anyway, and the bloodbath that followed is glorious! But it was really Ivy and her control of plants that caught despero’s third eye, especially as she hacked his arm off and impaled his eye! Unfortunately for us Despero is able to regenerate, and now amount of smashing is able to really stop a psychic attack from despero as he freezes the sires and teleports them off to test them for the chance of “joining his flock” and becoming slaves. All they have to do is survive the “flame of Py’tar” by feeding theirselves to it. He actually teleports Harley and Selina away, opting to keep Ivy close so he can see her face as she wakes up in hell. As the conduit cries silently and is forced to follow despero, the sirens each wake up in a different part of the facility. Harley in the dancing cages, Selina surrounded by despero’s followers, and Ivy in what appears to be the engine room. This is no night club after all, and as Despero engages the flame of py’tar and engages for take off…the entire facility and everywhere the sirens have been sent start to become engulfed in flames! Based on what despero said, and how many people are still partying, I think this is just the first step to joining despero and it probably won’t kill them. I’m very intrigued to learn more and what the conduit is really for, poor kid.

Still fun with good art and some humor. Nothing too in depth but the pacing is brisk in a positive way and it's just fun entertainment. Quinn was my favorite in this issue.
