I'm a bit ashamed to DNF this so fast but I was pushing myself for nothing...
I started this on my night shift and maybe I was a bit tired, but this was sooooo boring. It's supposed to be a comedy but I didn't even crack a smile. I kept thinking about other stuff while reading and when I realized that I didn't particularly care about the MCs I decided to stop.
The ML had a very weird way of speaking because he was supposed to be a very old vampire, but instead of amusing me it just managed to annoy me...The MC didn't do much, he's quite average.
This novel was very interesting! It had so many funny parts. The characters were refreshing and fun! It was a change of pace for me, as I haven't done so many comedy novels! I liked the calmness of the MC and the protectiveness of the ML. The side characters each had their quirks and added to the story. The world building was decent as well!
Remark: There are so many western fictional/Chinese mythical creatures in this story; for example, vampire, werewolf, elf, dragon, taotie, vermilion bird and anything you can (or cannot) think of.
DNF'd at chapter 43. I really need to stop picking up books whose main purpose is comedy because I never really end up liking them. I was amused by this one at first but it quickly drained away as they introduced more and more supernatural entities with quirks that conflicted with their identities (for ex. a vampire fainting at the sight of blood, a werewolf allergic to dog fur, a dragon with a fear of heights, etc) and it stopped being funny and just started being tiresome.
DNF @ 6% - Not sure if it's how the author wrote it or if it's the translation...but the dialogue was stiff and it took too much brain power to figure out what was going on. Some sentences just made absolute no sense at all, word salad.
